I OWN A 2004 INFINITI FX35 AWD. THERE'S A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT BRAKES WHEN BRAKING AND ALSO WHEN I DRIVE NORMALLY NOT APPLYING BRAKES. I NOTICED THE NOISE AROUND 20,000 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR INTO MY LOCAL INFINITI DEALER (INFINITI OF THOUSAND OAKS) IN JANUARY 2006 WHEN I HAD OTHER SERVICES TO DO (ABOUT 30,000 MILES & 80% OF BREAK PAD LIFE LEFT AT THAT TIME). THEY WERE NOT ABLE
... TO FIX IT AND THE NOISE HAVE BEEN GETTING LOUDER. I'VE TAKEN IT INTO THE SAME INFINITI DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM EACH TIME. AS OF 10/11/06, THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT'S A GLAZED ROTOR AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I'VE RESEARCHED MANY INFINITI FORUM AND NOTICED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT FX 35, QX45, AND G35 BREAKING SYSTEM. ALSO THE INFINITI DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR, SERVICE MANAGER, AND SERVICE DIRECTOR TELLS ME THAT ABOUT 90% OF FX DO HAVE THIS BRAKE SQUEAKING PROBLEM AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE INFINITI CORPORATION WILL NOT REIMBURSE THEM FOR THIS COMMON PROBLEM. THE BRAKES ON MY WIFE'S 2005 G35 INFINITI ARE DANGEROUS. MY WIFE HAS HAD TWO FRONT BRAKE REPAIRS IN THE YEAR (AND LESS THAN 15,000 MILES) SHE HAS OWNED THE CAR. WHEN SHE BROUGHT IT IN THIS TIME, THEY TOLD HER THE ROTOR WAS ON THE BRINK OF FAILURE. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SWITCH CAN TURN OFF THE AIR BAG WHEN AN ADULT IS OCCUPYING THE SEAT. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS HAS BEEN A LONG STANDING PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND INFINITI CARS. I HAVE DONE A BIT OF RESEARCH AND DETERMINED THAT EARLIER THIS YEAR THERE HAD BEEN AN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V003000 RELATING TO THE 2005 NISSAN MURANO FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY. THE NISSAN MURANO IS THE EQUIVALENT NISSAN VEHICLE TO THE INFINITI FX35. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THE CAMPAIGN IDENTIFIED ABOVE DESCRIBES THE SITUATION I ENCOUNTERED WITH MY VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO CREST INFINITI IN PLANO, TEXAS AND THEY SAID THE BRAKE FLUID HAD BEEN CONTAMINATED. THEY SENT A SAMPLE TO A TESTING LAB BUT NO TEST WAS DONE BECAUSE THE ALLEGED CONTAMINANT WAS SO SMALL IT COULD NOT BE MEASURED. CREST INFINITY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE BRAKES UNDER WARRANTY. I IMMEDIATELY TOO THE CAR TO GRUBBS INFINITI IN EULESS, TEXAS AND THEY ALSO DECIDED TO TEST THE BRAKE FLUID. AFTER THREE WEEKS THE TEST REVEALED NO CONTAMINATE IN THE BRAKE FLUID BUT GRUBBS SAID THAT SINCE THE BRAKES HAD BEEN WORKED ON BY GOODYEAR, THE WARRANTY WAS VOIDED. I HAVE CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT BRAKES ON THE INFINITI G-35. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT'S HAVE BEEN FILED IN BOTH CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA. I FOUND MANY POSTINGS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS THAT I AM EXPERIENCING. INFINITI REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS AND REFUSES TO REPAIR VEHICLES, INCLUDING MINE, UNDER WARRANTY. THIS WAS REMEDIED WHEN THE CALIPER WAS RECALLED. THE THIRD TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE, THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE ABS THAT MAKES THE NOISE. I UNDERSTAND THAT ABS APPLIES IN A SUDDEN BRAKE. BUT THIS WHOLE INCIDENT HAPPENS EVEN DRIVING AT 10-15 MPH. ALTHOUGH, EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS, I STILL HAVE TO TAKE MY SUV BACK TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE SAME RATTLING NOISE. THE FIRST TIME AFTER THIS HAPPENED, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, ATLANTIC INFINITI IN JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225, AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.
