MY GAS GAUGE SHOWS INCORRECT READINGS, I HAVE TO GO BY GALLONS OF GAS I PUT IN TO CAR TO DETERMINE MILES I CAN DRIVE. WHEN I START THE CAR GAUGE SHOWS ONE READING A FEW BLOCKS LATER IT SHOWS ANOTHER. ON 04/06/2012 I WAS DRIVING ON THE 60E FREEWAY IN THE #2 LANE GOING 65 MPH AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION. IT DROPPED FROM 65-40 WITHIN SECONDS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT (THIS HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR). THE SHOULDER WAS EXTREMELY NARROW AND THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED. WI

THE GAUGE ON THE DASH SAID THERE WAS STILL A QUARTER OF A TANK OF GAS LEFT AND I SHOWED IT TO HIM, SO I DIDN'T BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE POSSIBLE. HE OFFERED TO PUT A GALLON OF GAS IN THE TANK TO SEE IF IT WOULD START UP AND AS SOON AS HE DID THAT THE CAR STARTED UP WITH NO PROBLEM. HE DIRECTED ME TO PYRITE ST TO FILL UP MY TANK AND WHEN I GOT THERE THE CAR TOOK ALMOST 20 GALLONS! EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGE READ THAT THERE WAS STILL 1/4 TANK OF GAS! AFTER LOOKING ONLINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND I'M UPSET THAT INFINITI HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL KNOWING THAT THIS AFFECTS SO MANY PEOPLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I DRIVE 82 MILES A DAY ON THE FWY AND BEING FEMALE, I AM AFRAID THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AND I WOULD BE STRANDED. IT IS ALSO SO DANGEROUS TO LOSE ALL POWER ON THE FREEWAY! INFINITI HAS COMPLETELY LEFT BEHIND OWNERS OF THE 2003 G35. THEY HAD A VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO FIX THE 'AUDIO FINISHER' BUT ALL THEY DID WAS PUT A BAND-AID ON THE PROBLEM. WITH A FAMILY OF 7, THIS IS OUR MAIN FAMILY VEHICLE & KNOWING THIS COULD REOCCUR AT ANY MOMENT EVEN AFTER THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM IS REPLACED IS VERY UNSETTLING. THE INFINITI DEALER IS CLAIMING THEY NEVER HEARD OF ANOTHER ISSUE LIKE THIS & THEY REPLACED 3 BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEMS IN 4 YEARS. I FIND THIS EXTREMELY HARD TO BELIEVE, AS I WAS ABLE TO PRINT OVER 30 PAGES OF REPORTED INCIDENTS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. TODAY, WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2004 INFINITI QX56 WITH 106,134 MILES, SHE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE, ALONG WITH THE "BRAKE" DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT. IT WAS DESCRIBED TO ME AS THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL SHAKING, A LOUD NOISE FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. SECOND DEFECT: THE PROBLEM STARTED WHILE THE CAR WAS IDLING AND IT WOULD STALL. THEN 3 DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 50MPH THE CAR TRIED TO STALL AND IT LOST ALL POWER AND THEN THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON INDICATING SERVICE NEEDED. THE CAR SEEM TO LACK POWER.
