While driving on the freeway I heard a pop and a saw a warning notification on the dashboard to check the vehicles electrical system. This was followed by a warning that power was limited which resulted it the vehicle speed decreasing to 30mph, and finally a notice to stop the vehicle immediately. All of this occurred in about 5 minutes time. Thankfully, I was able to pull over to the side of the
... road without an accident. After this the vehicle became inoperable including hazard flashers. I had to wait on the side of the freeway for about an hour to get a tow. The vehicle was towed to a dealer which confirmed that the ICCU and high voltage fuse were faulty. My safety during this process was put at risk because A) during a snow storm I had to pull the vehicle over to the side quickly across 4 lanes of traffic and B) then remain parked on the shoulder with limited ability to notify other drivers that I was on the shoulder. The dealer has confirmed the failure, the vehicle is available for inspection, and the manufacturer has not inspected the component.Read more

In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealership (Hendricks Chrysler Dodge Birmingham, AL) for a full diagnostic inspection, and at that time I was told everything was fine. There were no warnings, no notes about electrical issues, airbags, coolant leaks, engine leaks, or any of the major concerns now being reported. On my most recent visit (October 2025), the dealership suddenly reported mult
... iple “Immediate Attention” failures, including: • Airbag system issues • Electrical system failure • Coolant system leak • Water pump leak • Engine oil separator leak These items were never mentioned during my previous full diagnostic despite being safety-related components that typically show symptoms or codes. Because these new issues involve critical components like the airbags, engine, and electrical system, my safety was put at risk. I have been driving the vehicle daily under the belief that it had passed a full diagnostic months earlier. If these problems really existed at that time, then I was unknowingly operating an unsafe vehicle. If they did NOT exist, then the sudden appearance of multiple major failures raises concerns about incorrect diagnostics or improper prior inspection. I have not received any warning lights except the airbag light. The dealership has not provided a clear explanation as to how these issues appeared only months after a full inspection. This has caused significant concern regarding vehicle safety, diagnostic reliability, and whether the previous inspection was performed correctly. I am requesting NHTSA review because the dealership failed to identify or disclose major safety-related failures, which has potentially placed me in danger without any warning.Read more

My 2018 Hyundai Tucson experienced complete engine failure at around 118,000 miles. The motor suddenly blew without warning. I bought the vehicle used in 2023, maintained it regularly, and there were no warning lights or overheating before the failure. I had to put oil in my vehicle e
... very week. I had to use 5qts of oil. It smelled like fumes coming through the vents. It then stalled on the highway while we had our son in the vehicle and shaked profusely. Mind you we had our son in the vehicle. How unsafe is that. I then did my research and found out Hyundai engines of this generation have a history of stalling, seizing, and internal damage. I am filing this complaint because this appears to be part of a known safety defect that can cause sudden loss of power while driving. We took it to shop and confirmed the motor blew. It was faulty. Also, sometimes the electrical components would turn off in vehicle such as radio and would go black. Also the turn signal would be on and then turn off. It would also shake while driving. This needs to be taken care of ASAP as it almost caused danger to my family and also caused financial strain on my family too as I now had to roll over my vehicle loan into a new safe vehicle. I would like to be contacted in regards to this. Thank you.Read more

Transmission failed, Ford diagnosed it as needing the torque converter replaced, however, after this was fixed at a transmission shop, the problem persisted and that mechanic said the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Ford confirmed an issue on 11/3/25 and another independent mechanic replaced the converter, but stayed the transmission needs to be rebuilt after that did not correct the problem. He states that the torque converter would not cause the reverse issues. Initially, no warning lamps came on, but now the wrench light and check engine light are on. Ford app gave two errors, one on 11/13/25: Powertrain malfunction/reduced power What Is Happening? The transmission control module has detected a concern when trying to shift to 8th gear. Complaint Description: My 2016 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost is experiencing a catastrophic engine failure due to "coolant intrusion" into the engine cylinders, a known manufacturing defect associated with the open-deck engine block design in this model year (referenced in Ford TSB 19-2346). The Failure: While driving at highway speeds (65+ MPH) on California freeways, the vehicle intermittently and su
... ddenly enters "limp mode," drastically reducing power and acceleration without warning. This makes it impossible to merge safely or keep up with traffic, creating a life-threatening safety hazard for myself and other motorists. History & Diagnosis: The issue began in early 2025 with a Check Engine Light, which was initially misdiagnosed by a mechanic as a non-critical boost leak. The condition worsened significantly in Q4 2025, leading to dangerous stalls in power. A new independent inspection confirmed the root cause is not a boost leak, but internal coolant leakage into the engine block cylinders. This defect has caused permanent engine damage requiring a full engine replacement. The failure mode is identical to thousands of other complaints regarding the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, yet no safety recall exists to address the sudden loss of motive power.Read more

I am reporting a recurring safety issue involving engine stalling in active traffic due to excessive oil loss and internal component failure. This has occurred three times within approximately 12,000 miles and has created dangerous conditions for my family, including my 2.5 year old child who rides in the vehicle. Summary of incidents: • May 15, 2025 – 61,736 miles: Vehicle stalled in traffi
... c and lost acceleration. Dealership confirmed abnormal noise and low oil, but no oil consumption test was ordered. • Fall 2025 – 66,448 miles: Vehicle stalled and died on the highway. Diagnosis showed broken camshaft timing components. Service invoice states the engine oil system was too low and caused internal failures. Major timing components replaced. • October 30, 2025 – 69,175 miles: Vehicle stalled in traffic again. Oil was low after only 2,727 miles since previous repair. Dealer advised oil consumption test after another 1,000 miles, but I do not feel the vehicle is safe to drive due to repeated stalling and internal failures. At the most recent incident the dealership confirmed the oil level was again low, but did not identify the cause or perform consumption testing until after repeated failures. These repeated stall events are serious safety hazards and could result in a collision or injury. I have lost confidence in the safety of the vehicle. Based on consultation with an experienced engine mechanic, underlying internal damage from oil starvation is likely and may indicate piston ring or engine defect consistent with known Hyundai/Kia oil consumption issues. Hyundai has declined to provide a buyback or full repair solution and the vehicle continues to demonstrate dangerous conditions. We have purchased a full warranty for the engine but warranty company will not cover it as they are saying this is a pistons issue - wear and tear. I am requesting NHTSA investigation and assistance to ensure this defect is addressed before someone is injured.Read more
