Transmission previously replaced after failed Judder test. Transmission is failing again: Last few days the car will accelerate to 15 then it attempts to shift and power drops and pressing the pedal has no response or very little then it changes into what feels like 4th or 5th gear at 20 mph and acceleration is very sluggish and also switching into manual gear control is completely unresponsive.
... Power drop at 15 mph, the transmission jumping into what feels like 4th or 5th gear at 20 mph, and sluggish acceleration — is consistent with the clutch pack slipping and the TCM essentially giving up on lower gears and defaulting to a higher gear to protect itself. Manual mode being completely unresponsive is a significant red flag — it means the TCM may have entered a limp or failsafe mode where it’s overriding driver input entirely.Read more

The engine burns oil excessively and the oil light does NOT come on when the oil is low. Our car is right at 90k miles, it began to shudder and malfunction out of the blue while we were driving on the highway. There was absolutely no indication the oil was low. Now the car will not turn on at all. We were in between oil changes. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk because the engine

I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy due to repeated safety-related mechanical failures and ongoing defects that create dangerous and unpredictable driving conditions. Since purchase in August 2024, the vehicle has experienced multiple serious issues, including steering rack problems causing sticking, resistance, abnormal noises, and inconsistent st
... eering response while driving. The vehicle has also experienced rear automatic braking/sensor malfunctions causing sudden stopping and grinding during operation, creating unsafe driving conditions and concerns about unintended braking behavior. Additional issues include transmission and gear engagement concerns, engine replacement under recall, infotainment system replacement, ongoing recall-related concerns, and excessive tire wear requiring replacement of all four tires at approximately 29,000 miles. The premature tire wear raises concerns regarding possible steering, suspension, alignment, or drivetrain defects. There are also concerns involving unusually fragile windshield and window glass, which appears to be a commonly reported issue among Hyundai Palisade owners. Despite repeated dealership visits, diagnostic evaluations, repairs, and major component replacements, the problems continue. The vehicle has spent an estimated total of approximately five months in repair facilities or undergoing service evaluations since purchase. The steering issues and rear automatic braking/sensor malfunctions are the most serious concerns because they directly impact the safe operation of the vehicle. The vehicle has demonstrated unpredictable behavior, including grinding, sticking steering response, and sudden stopping. These ongoing defects have caused significant safety concerns and loss of confidence in the reliability and safe operation of the vehicle. I believe these issues warrant further investigation due to the potential risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the roadRead more

We have had several transmission issues with this vehicle for over a year. On March 5th we dropped the car off for an oil leak, a malfunctioning middle row seat belt, and an on going transmission clunk and roll. ... em. The car went back to the dealer again on March 26 for the transmission clunk and roll. They kept it for 8 weeks, and said they couldn’t replicate the issue. I have confirmation that they didn’t even start the vehicle for 4 weeks. We picked up the Vehicle on May 22, and the issue persists. Yesterday, when pulling out of a gas station, the vehicle accelerated on its own until I intervened stepping on the brake pedal. When I typed in the issue to Google, I was made aware that the vehicle now has a front seat belt safety recall from April 6, which the dealer didn’t even advise us on or offer to repair. I am finding out about this on an interstate family drive and we are of course terrified of driving our vehicle now, based on the unintended accessories and now faulty front seat seat belts. I have asked Hyundai serval times for a buy back which they have refused. Corporate has asked us to bring the car back to the dealer this week, and we are about to sign papers with a lemon law lawyer tomorrow. I wanted to at least file this complaint so that it is in writing should something happen to us in our travels this week. This has all been so unacceptable with Hyundai. We bought this car new and it is paid off.Read more

Purchased a used Santa Fe in January 2026 with 129k mile and at 131k my vehicle's CEL came on and did not function properly while operating. While driving the vehicle failed to accelerate above 25 mph when I pushed the gas. I pulled over to get out of the way of traffic and avoid any accidents. I shut the car off and sat for several minutes before restarting my vehicle. It successfully restart
... ed and I drove home and parked it. I ran CEL diagnostic and received the code P0021. I had the vehicle towed to the local Hyundai dealer and they also pulled the same code and indicated I have an oil consumption issue explained as follows "Timing over advanced. Timing components driven by oil pressure. Inspected cylinders and borescope and found cylinder wall scoring and faulty piston rings. Radiator has crack causing coolant leak. Engine will have to be replaced to remedy oil consumption. Radiator will need to be replaced to remedy leak." resulting in over $12k of repair work. The vehicle's temperature gauge did not indicate any abnormalities nor did the oil light come on to indicate any oil consumption issues. The vehicle was driven from the dealer to my home within city limits/speed and has not replicated the acceleration issue but the CEL remains on as the repair is too costly and is more than what was paid for the vehicle.Read more

1. The component/system that failed appears to be related to the vehicle’s braking/safety assistance system, which is now associated with the recall affecting certain Hyundai Tucson vehicles. At the time of the accident, the vehicle suddenly became difficult to control during highway driving, which ultimately resulted in the crash. The vehicle was declared a total loss, but insurance records, ph
... otographs, and inspection documentation should still be available upon request. 2. My safety and the safety of others were put at serious risk because the vehicle lost stability/control while I was operating it on the highway. The accident caused the vehicle to flip, resulting in injuries and creating a dangerous situation for myself and surrounding drivers. 3. The issue itself was not fully reproduced prior to the accident, however the recall now issued by Hyundai appears to involve the same or similar malfunction connected to braking/safety system concerns. The vehicle was inspected after the accident through the insurance process and body shop estimates were completed before it was declared a total loss. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by insurance representatives, towing personnel, and others involved in the claims process following the accident. Police also responded to the accident scene and completed an accident report. 5. Prior to the failure/accident, there were no clear warnings that would have indicated the severity of the issue. If applicable, there may have been occasional warning indicators or abnormal vehicle behavior before the crash, but no information was provided to me at that time indicating the vehicle was subject to a safety recall. The emergency brake has been horrible since i’ve purchased the car, i’ve almost crashed or gotten hit numerous of times.Read more

The next morning I drove it to the Oxmoor Hyundai Service Center. I told relayed the timeline of all symptoms I had experienced over the 2 month lifetime of my ownership. They did not attempt to reproduce the issue. They only entered "shakes in reverse" as the customer provided issue on the intake information. Service Center performed diagnostic, found cylinder misfires on cylinder 2 and cylinder 4. Replaced spark plugs to resolve Cylinder 2. Cylinder 4 continued to misfire. Used Borescope and found broken valve. They did not address the scoring on the cylinder of the valve. Recommended engine replacement. Advised it would not be covered under a warranty because the rod did not break. The oil consumption was proven with documentation from multiple Valvoline visits and the vertical scoring was present on the cylinder with the broken valve in the borescope photo. The Service Center refused to do a Boring Clearance Test or any other test that would prove the engine should be covered under an extended warranty or class action settlement. It wasn't until I reviewed HMA documents uploaded to the BBB Arbitration, that I realized that the information I initially gave to the Service Center of all the symptoms with timelines had not been entered into the system for diagnostic review by Techline. Arbitrator denied my claim under the theta settlement because the rod had not broken yet, BUT she said my engine was defective.Read more

To Whom It May Concern: I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety defect involving the second-row driver-side seat belt in my Hyundai Palisade. I purchased this vehicle new on December 11, 2025, after being informed that the applicable seat belt recall repair had already been completed by the dealership on December 4, 2025. Despite the recall repair being performed prio
... r to sale, the second-row driver-side seat belt continues to malfunction. On multiple occasions while the vehicle has been in motion, the seat belt has unexpectedly unlatched on its own while occupied by a passenger. This creates a severe safety hazard and leaves the passenger completely unprotected during travel. The issue has occurred repeatedly and has made the second-row driver-side seat unsafe to use. This defect is especially concerning because the vehicle was sold as repaired and safe following completion of the recall campaign. The continued failure of the seat belt system raises concerns that the recall remedy may be ineffective or incomplete. I am requesting that Hyundai Motor America and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this matter immediately. I also request that Hyundai provide a permanent repair solution and determine whether additional Hyundai Palisade vehicles may still be experiencing similar seat belt latch failures even after recall service has been completed. Vehicle Information: •Year/Model: Hyundai Palisade •VIN: [XXX] •Purchase Date: [XXX] •Recall Repair Completion Date: December 4, 2025 •Selling Dealer: Holler Hyundai 1150 N Orlando Ave Winter Park FL 32789 •Current Mileage: 8,169 I am extremely concerned about the safety of my passengers and believe this defect presents a significant risk of injury in the event of sudden braking or a collision. Please contact me regarding next steps and investigation of this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

This complaint documents a recurring automatic transmission failure resulting in three complete vehicle shutdowns during active operation — two at highway speed and one in an active turning lane. The most recent failure occurred within 15 minutes of the vehicle being released from an authorized Hyundai dealership in College Park, Maryland, whose general manager admitted in a recorded call that t
... he vehicle was released knowing the transmission was unrepaired and unsafe. The first failure occurred in 2025 on a highway with no prior warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the transmission was confirmed defective and repaired under warranty. The second failure occurred in January 2026, again on a highway with no warning. The dealership held the vehicle from January through May 2026 — four months — with no updates despite multiple owner inquiries. In April 2026 the dealership confirmed the transmission had failed again and was seeking Hyundai corporate authorization for the warranty repair. On May 21, 2026 I was told the vehicle was ready and the transmission had been fully repaired under warranty. This was false. On [XXX], within 15 minutes of leaving the dealership, the transmission failed a third time, completely shutting the vehicle down in an active turning lane with no warning. The general manager at Hyundai College Park later admitted in a recorded call that the transmission was never repaired and the vehicle was released only to recover the dealership's rental car, with full knowledge it was unsafe. All three failures were confirmed by the authorized dealer. Component is available for inspection. NHTSA investigation and recall consideration requested. The engine in my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport equipped with the 2.4L Theta II GDI engine is experiencing severe excessive oil consumption. The vehicle consumes approximately 2–2.5 quarts of oil every 1,000 miles despite multiple repair attempts and dealership-performed combustion cleaning procedures. Hyundai Motor America and the dealership documented the condition under PA #[XXX] and recommended
... engine replacement. Hyundai Motor America advised me in writing that the vehicle should not be operated in its current condition because of the excessive oil consumption and pending engine replacement. Excessive oil consumption creates a risk of sudden engine failure, engine seizure, stalling while driving, and potential engine fire if oil levels drop unexpectedly. Because the engine rapidly loses oil between normal service intervals, the vehicle may become unsafe to operate without warning, placing myself, passengers, and other motorists at risk. The defect was confirmed multiple times by Capital Hyundai in San Jose, CA through two official Hyundai oil consumption tests. The dealership documented oil consumption of approximately 2–2.5 quarts per 1,000 miles and submitted the results to Hyundai Motor America under PA #[XXX].The dealership also performed multiple repair attempts, including spark plug replacement, fuel induction cleaning, combustion chamber cleaning, and repeated oil changes, but the excessive oil consumption continued. Prior symptoms included: Check engine light illumination, Cylinder #4 misfire condition, Engine noise, Excessive oil loss between oil changes, and Oil level dropping significantly within short mileage intervals. The check engine light and misfire condition first became severe enough to require dealership diagnosis on or around [XXX], when the vehicle was towed to the dealership. The excessive oil consumption issue was formally documented beginning [XXX] during Hyundai’s oil consumption testing process. The vehicle exhibits two distinct and dangerous behaviors: 1. Engine stalling upon deceleration: When slowing to a stop, the engine stalls abruptly before the vehicle comes to a complete stop, causing a sudden, unexpected deceleration that throws occupants forward with significant force. 2. Unintended surge upon brake release: When releasing the brake pedal from a complete stop, the vehicle surg
... es forward unexpectedly and with excessive force, causing occupants to be jolted harshly without warning. Both incidents occur without any prior indication to the driver, leaving no opportunity to prevent the danger to occupants or others nearby. SAFETY RISK: Passengers were subjected to sudden, unexpected forward jolting without warning, posing a risk of injury. The vehicle's behavior also creates a hazard for other drivers and pedestrians in the vicinity. DEALER / SERVICE CENTER: The problem has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or service center. INSPECTION BY MANUFACTURER, POLICE, OR INSURANCE: The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. WARNING LAMPS OR PRIOR SYMPTOMS: No warning lamps, dashboard messages, or prior symptoms appeared before or during these incidents. The failures occur without any advance notice to the driver, leaving no opportunity to take corrective action.Read more
