I was driving my car when it powered down and had an unrecoverable loss of propulsion. It's a miracle I didn't crash and kill myself or anyone else on the road. This aligns with NHTSA Recall Number 25V-766. Jeep dealer identified the issue is failed transfer case assembly, then had to replace transfer case motor, then updated the software for the electric battery, but that software update is an
... ineffective remedy for the recall. I'm afraid to drive car because it might spontaneously catch fire or power down while driving again, which is terrifying because you lose all steering control. My car has been at the Jeep Dealer in Lynnfield, Massachusetts since January 7, 2026. The Jeep dealer said they couldn't buy my Jeep from me because they can't certify it's safety due to open recall. I can't park car in my parking garage or anywhere in Boston per recall notice. Bought Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe brand new 1/20/24 for $76,500 and have $25,000 of equity/payments in it, but it has a note of $52,500 outstanding and due to recall issues the car is only worth maybe $32,500 but should be worth at least $60,000. I want manufacturer to buy my car back from me because it's under warranty and they can't fix the battery in a way that makes it safe to drive or even park near anything.Read more

I'm confused and shaken, why the first lurch forward and why did going in reverse move it forward? ugh. It drove home fine. Commute to work daily for years, no issues. Ive been going over the possibilities in my head for human error but they dont make sense - again I've been driving for 40 years. If it happens to other models, would love to know! Incident date: Feb 17, 2026
I am writing to formally file a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding an unresolved safety recall on my 2019 Ford EcoSport. On February 18, 2026, at approximately 9:01 A.M., I contacted my local dealership, El Cajon Ford, to schedule the recall repair. I was informed that the required recall parts are on indefinite backorder and that there is no estimated dat
... e for availability. This leaves my vehicle unrepaired for a known safety defect with no clear timeline for remedy. Additionally, during that same conversation, I informed the dealership that my check engine light is currently illuminated, which raises further concerns given the open safety recall. I was told that if I bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing and the issue is determined not to be related to the recall, I would be responsible for a $209 diagnostic fee. I am concerned that this creates a financial barrier to determining whether the warning light may, in fact, be related to the known safety defect. I regularly transport my [XXX] child in this vehicle. Continuing to operate a vehicle subject to an open safety recall — particularly one involving a potentially serious safety-related defect — places my family at unnecessary risk. The indefinite delay in parts availability undermines the purpose of a federally mandated safety recall. Under federal law, manufacturers are required to provide a free and timely remedy for safety-related defects. An open-ended delay with no estimated repair date does not appear to meet that standard and leaves consumers without meaningful protection. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter, investigate the delay in recall remedy availability, and take appropriate action to ensure that affected consumers are not required to continue operating potentially unsafe vehicles without a timely repair or interim solution. Thank you for your attention to this serious safety concern. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle has repeatedly produced white smoke during cold start and has experienced loss of engine power while driving. Shortly after the most recent service visit(12/22/25), within approximately five days, the vehicle displayed an “Engine Power Limited” warning message and a malfunction indicator light (MIL). When this occurred, the vehicle’s power was significantly reduced, making it difficult to maintain speed and creating a potentially dangerous condition, especially during highway driving or merging into traffic. This issue poses a serious safety risk because sudden loss of engine power can increase the risk of collision. The problem appears to be intermittent but recurring, and it has not been properly diagnosed or corrected by the dealership despite repeated opportunities. The vehicle has not been repaired for this condition, and the defect remains unresolved. The condition may be available for inspection upon request, and diagnostic data such as warning messages and onboard fault codes should be present in the vehicle’s system. I have about 6,000 miles on the vehicle which was purchased new. There were 2 incidents prior to 2/15/26 (the 3rd incident), but it was only this 3rd incident whereby I could identify the problem. The 2 early incidents I only experienced the smell of burning rubber when driving and exiting the vehicle. Which, i couldn't fathom where it was coming from. And, there was probably a month between
... incidents. This latest 2/15/26 incident, I was driving and started smelling rubber again, but now I happened to have my fuel mileage indicator on and saw my fuel indicator drop from it's normal average of 17mpg to about 6 mpg. I immediately suspected the parking brake had independently engaged but there was no light or any indication of that on my dashboard screen. I pulled over, turned the engine off, got out and smelt strong scent of rubber burning. While standing next to the vehicle (the engine is off mind you) and making a note of this event on my phone, I heard hydraulics start and stop underneath the truck . That made me suspect the parking brakes even more. I got in, started up, and drove. All was back to normal, no more burning rubber or bad mileage. There's a software glitch PROBLEM here and I have to believe I'm not the only one! After this, I'll be reaching out to Ford to see what they're going to do.Read more

... sulting in a complete loss of motive power. The dashboard fuel gauge falsely indicated 55 miles of remaining range, but the vehicle had actually run out of fuel. This indicates that the fuel sending unit/float assembly was improperly reinstalled or damaged during the recall service, creating a secondary safety defect. I figured it would calibrate and fix itself. When the dealer reached out after my service appointment I made them aware of the issue. No one contacted me. I contacted Land Rover corporate when it continued to happen and was told to bring it back to the certified repair location. The dealership took 16 mins to look at my vehicle and deem the engine bad. Give a ballpark quote of 20000 to 30000 dollars to replace the engine. Despite this life-safety event, the dealership refused to pull stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and is attempting to deflect liability by blaming a pre-existing minor coolant leak that never triggered an overheat warning. I am reporting a failure of the recall remedy and requesting an investigation into the dealership's refusal to diagnose consequential damage (High-Pressure Fuel Pump failure) caused by the botched safety When I brought up the fact that they should have diagnosed the codes already he offered to have them run it for free tomorrow like he was doing me some kind of favor. When I said did I disagreed with the findings based on the fact that there was no evidence of it being the engine overheating due to cool it he replied that maybe I needed a second opinion and it needed to be off of their lot by Friday. The engine light started blinking and my car would not accelerate anymore. I took it to the mechanic immediately, who said that there was an engine recall. I contacted the dealership, but they cannot do an initial inspection for more than 2 months. It would likely take another 2-3 months after the inspection before the engine can be replaced. I called Hyundai and they confirmed that my vehicle sho
... uld be covered under an extended warranty based on the service history and error code from my car (TXXI for the Theta 2 engine - knock sensor detection, code p1326). However, Hyundai will not provide any help until the vehicle is inspected by a dealership. The dealership completely refuses to look at my car as they are busy. I live on an island, so the only other Hyundai dealership is two hours away. They will not answer any of my calls. I'm expected to figure out how to commute to work alone for the next two months, but since I live in a rural area, there are no alternative transportation options. An independent mechanic confirmed and reproduced the issue. The car is unsafe to drive. The dealer will not inspect my component in a reasonable time frame, much less repair it despite the fact that it is covered under extended warranty. The car was driving normally prior to the issue, and I did not notice any problems until the engine light started blinking. I have the car available for inspection.Read more

This complaint concerns a repeat failure of both front CV axles on my 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The CV axles and boots were replaced by Gettel Hyundai of Charlotte County using OEM parts in November 2024. The same components failed again just 7,876 miles later in January 2026; requiring a second full replacement. A CV axle replaced with factory OEM parts by a certified Hyundai tech should not fail wit
... hin 7,876 miles under normal driving conditions. This pattern of repeat failure indicates either * A defect in the OEM replacement parts supplied by Hyundai * An installation defect at the authorized dealership * An unresolved underlying mechanical condition that causes accelerated CV axle wear The rapid repeat failure represents a potential safety hazard. CV axle failure can result in sudden loss of drive power, difficulty controlling the vehicle, and in severe cases, wheel separation --all of which create dangerous conditions for the driver and others on the road. Chronological Timeline of Events: Nov 5, 2024 55,579 miles; both front CV axles replaced by authorized Hyundai dealership using OEM parts. Labor and parts performed per Hyundai standards. Jan 29, 2026 63,451 miles Same CV axles failed again. Second replacement performed at same authorized Hyundai dealership. Total repair cost $3227.16 paid out of pocket by me. Feb 16, 2026 Hyundai Motor America denied goodwill reimbursement request (Case #XXX), citing the malfunction being out of time in service of the vehicle. Reported to Hyundai Motor, their response did not address the repeated nature of failure, the short mileage interval, or the possibility of a defective OEM part or improper installation. I believe the NHTSA should be aware of this pattern and investigate other 2015 Hyundai Sonata owners have reported similar rapid repeat CV axle failures, which could indicate a systemic defect in either OEM parts or dealership repair procedures. A component has not yet failed but an existing recall (Ford recall 24S78 / NHTSA ID 24V957) describes the potential for loss of motive power increasing the risk of a crash. This recall was issued in December of 2024. I received a notice in January of 2026 that the repair was available, went to my local dealer and was told the recall had been paused on 02/03/2026 - no actual repair is currently ava
... ilable. I live full-time in my 2021, 20,000 lb., 5th-wheel RV and frequently tow it with no other option than my 2020 F350 with the open recall. To quote the recall document, "Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle under this safety recall" but a loss of motive power is exponentially worse when towing a large load which is what this vehicle was purpose-built to do.Read more

Component/System Failed: Engine – connecting rod bearing failure consistent with Hyundai Theta II engine defect subject to federal recalls and Consent Orders. The vehicle previously received Recall Campaign 953 (KSDS software update), intended to detect premature rod bearing wear. The engine is currently knocking and has been diagnosed as requiring replacement. The vehicle and engine are availab
... le for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: Rod bearing failure can cause sudden engine seizure or stall while driving, creating a significant crash risk due to loss of power steering and braking assist. Engine failure DID occurr despite prior recall software update, indicating potential recall remedy ineffectiveness. Sudden stalling in traffic placed myself and others at risk of collision. Dealer Confirmation: Hyundai of North Charleston confirmed through warranty history a prior engine replacement request (PA) was submitted by a previous owner but denied. The recall repair was never performed. Current diagnostic findings indicate engine failure consistent with known recall defect. However, Hyundai has refused to perform further inspection or goodwill repair solely due to the vehicle’s salvage branding. Inspection History: The vehicle has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership. No engine replacement was completed. Hyundai Customer Care has updated case notes but is declining remedy based on title status rather than mechanical condition. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: The vehicle previously received KSDS software update. Engine knocking developed consistent with rod bearing wear. The software did not provide effective prevention of engine failure. The engine now requires replacement. Hyundai is refusing recall-related remedy due to salvage title (predates my wonder ship by many years), despite federal recall obligations applying to the vehicle VIN. This complaint concerns potential failure of recall remedy effectiveness and denial of defect-related inspection.Read more
