Care recently became inoperable. The engine was knocking, then stalling and then inoperable. Checked Hyundai website to find Engine Recall describing exactly what my Hyundai was/is experiencing. I brought vehicle to Clay Cooley dealership (39444 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, 75232) and explained that I see the recall on the Hyundai website describing what my vehicle is experiencing. After their servi
... ce mechanics review, the Service Department Representative falsely accusing me of the engine failure, stating that I "must not have changed my oil regularly". According to the service department, my 2017 Hyundai Sonata (132,000 miles) is not covered in the engine recall, and I must pay $4,926.53 for the repair. cc: FTC - ReportFraud.ftc.gov Texas Attorney General - Consumer-Protection/file-consumer-complaintRead more

I am reporting a repeated brake system issue on my 2024 Hyundai Tucson involving premature rotor warping and brake failure at very low mileage. On April 30, 2025 (11,007 miles), I first noticed significant vibration and shaking when braking. On May 29, 2025, Colonial Hyundai diagnosed the issue and resurfaced the brakes under warranty (Hyundai case #40826529). The issue persisted immediately af
... ter repair, and on June 13, 2025, I was informed that both front and rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. On June 19, 2025, all brakes and rotors were replaced under warranty, resolving the issue temporarily. Less than 8 months later, on February 12, 2026 (under 10,000 additional miles), the same braking vibration returned. The original dealer attributed the issue to driving behavior. At Hyundai’s direction, I sought a second opinion on February 26, 2026 at Piazza Hyundai of West Chester. They confirmed that the brakes and rotors again required replacement and indicated this was unusual for such low mileage. On March 16, 2026, despite the dealer’s findings, Hyundai Corporate declined to cover the repair under warranty. This vehicle has now required three brake-related repairs within a short period and low mileage, including resurfacing and full rotor replacement, followed by another failure. This pattern suggests a potential defect in the braking system, materials, or related components, rather than normal wear. Component/System Failed: The failure involves the braking system, specifically repeated warping/failure of front and rear brake rotors and premature brake wear. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. When braking, the vehicle experiences significant vibration and shaking in the steering wheel and chassis, which affects braking smoothness and control. This condition can reduce driver confidence, increase stopping distance, and may lead to loss of control during braking, particularly at highway speeds or in emergency stop.Read more

While starting to drive from a red light, I was about a car length or 1.5 car length away from the vehicle ahead of me. As I was driving forward because the light turned green keeping the same distance, the car gave me a second and a half of the collision warning, then immediately went to emergency break-in and stopped me in the middle of the intersection during morning rush hour. The car behind m
... e almost slammed into me. This happens once in a while when backing up in parking lots. There’s no one behind me but a curb or some grass. I’m not close it to but the emergency breaking system comes on and stops me. Since the stop is abruptly there’s been times another car could have potentially hit me while either trying to go around me as I’m backing out of a spot in a parking lot or as I mentioned today the car stopping me in the middle of the intersection during a green light. It’s been so random, it hasn’t been reproduced. The car was inspected for the other recalls a few days ago but not for the emergency braking system. The warning was very quick today. It didn’t last more than a second before it started to brake itself. I didn’t have time to react to the warning. After researching online I see this is more common than I thought.Read more

While on/idol, the 3rd row seat (left/drivers side) folded down on my 9 year old niece. Myself, mother, 6 year old daughter, sister in law, brother and 12 year old niece all witnessed this happen as we were loading into the car after playing at the park (I had the car turned on). Her head got pinned to the headrest of the 2nd row captain seat. The buttons did not respond as they usually/supposed t
... o do to stop and reverse the folding action. The seat continued to press against her skull. After realizing the buttons in the cargo were not going to work, I had an idea and ran to the 2nd row door and pressed the captain seat button to slide it forward (my child was in that captain seat in a rear facing carseat). It wasn't able to move much but enough that the trapped girl was able to force her head out and her mom pulled her the rest of the way out to release her. It was very traumatizing. That 3rd row seat remained in that almost closed position as the buttons still would not function so we drove home. Eventually I tried the buttons in the again and it unfolded the seat. I have tested these buttons over and over since then to figure out what happened. Every time I test them, each button allows me to either release it and the action stops, or press the button again and the action stops. I do not know why it wouldn't respond to doing that same that day. Prior to that incident, sometime between getting the car on 7/31 and mid-November, I had an empty unbuckled backless booster car seat in the third row right/passenger side as a backup for daughters friends to use, and without remembering it was there, I pressed the button to fold down the 3rd row right side chair and it kept stopping and auto reversing, several times before I realized oh ya, the booster is back there. So when the innocent happened with my niece, it came as a big surprise because that booster weighs nothing compared to a 9 year old. It has not happened againRead more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my vehicle, a Hyundai Ioniq 5, which I purchased new and which currently has only 4,795 miles. The vehicle remains fully covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. Yesterday, March 19th 2026, while driving on a heavily congested street, the vehicle suddenly displayed a warning message stating: “Stop Vehicle and Check Power S
... upply.” Immediately after, the car began to significantly lose power and slow down in active traffic. This created a dangerous situation, as I was forced to pull over abruptly in a crowded roadway, putting my safety and the safety of others at risk. Due to the severity of the issue, I contacted Hyundai roadside assistance, and the vehicle was towed to Safford Hyundai for inspection and repair. I was informed by the dealership that repairs could take up to four months, and I was not provided with a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation. As a result: I am currently without a vehicle for daily transportation, including commuting to work I have experienced significant stress and anxiety due to the sudden and dangerous nature of the incident I am left without a reasonable remedy despite the vehicle being new and under full warranty This situation raises serious concerns regarding vehicle safety, reliability, and Hyundai’s failure to provide adequate support or transportation during an extended repair period. Given that this is a new vehicle with a critical failure that compromises safety, I am requesting: Immediate assistance with a loaner or rental vehicle at no cost A clear timeline and communication regarding repairs Consideration of further remedies if the vehicle cannot be repaired within a reasonable timeframe, in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws I believe this issue represents a significant defect that substantially impairs the use, value, and safety of the vehicle.Read more

On March 13, 2026, I was operating my 2015 Hyundai Tucson when the steering locked up, causing me to crash into a tree head-on. In the course of this head-on crash, my airbags failed to deploy. My car had a prior repair for a front end collision in a body shop and a replacement of the engine in a Hyundai dealership prior to the accident. My car is currently in a tow yard. There has been no inspection of my car by the manufacturer. I have since discovered that there are a number of complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ("NHTSA") from other Hyundai Tucson owners for the model years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2019, and 2023 complaining of the same defect in their Hyundai Tucsons – the failure of the airbags to deploy in serious car accidents. I believe this represents a systemic safety defect in the Hyundai Tucson airbag system that has not been addressed for the 2015 model year. This failure put my safety at serious risk and resulted in significant injuries that could have been prevented had the airbag system functioned as designed.Read more

Trying to troubleshoot roadside, i noticed fluid on the tie rod, but I wasnt able to determine what kind of fluid it was. When I try to start the car, there is one single click, the engine wont even attempt to turn over. Oil, battery and check engine lights are all on. After towing, I found that the fluid leaking from the vehicle is oil. The vehicle is currently at a transmission shop, but from my research, this isnt a transmission issue but a blown rod bearing the Hyundai engines are know for. ... an uphill, a pop sounded, and copious white smoke started coming from the engine bay. I pulled over despite having no power brakes but I was fortunate to be near an off ramp in a rural area. I will be contacting a dealership to see if they will at least confirm my diagnosis.Read more

After performing regular oil changes, and even a new fuel pump sensor, I experienced an issue. Last oil change was within the past two weeks. ICCU failure. Car was at 16% when I tried to charge the car. Heard a pop sound from underneath the car and the dashboard had a message saying to check the electrical system.
Incident date: Mar 2, 2026
The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), part number 36400-1XAD5, failed on my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL RWD at 2138 miles. The ICCU is responsible for charging the 12V auxiliary battery from the high voltage traction battery. DTC P1A9096 was recorded on 03/02/2026. When the ICCU fails, the 12V battery drains because it has no charging source. The vehicle becomes undrivable as all vehicle syst
... ems depend on the 12V battery. The vehicle had to be towed on a flatbed truck to Hyundai dealer for diagnosis and repair. The failure was confirmed by the dealer using their diagnostic tools. This is the same ICCU failure mode covered by Hyundai Recalls 257 and 272 for 2022-2024 Ioniq 5 vehicles, however the 2025 Ioniq 5 is not currently included in those recalls despite using the same ICCU architecture. The failure at only 2138 miles on a 2025 model indicates the underlying defect was not resolved with the model year refresh. If this failure had occurred while driving at highway speed rather than while the vehicle was stationary, the progressive loss of motive power could have created a serious safety hazard. NHTSA should consider expanding the existing ICCU recall to include 2025 Ioniq 5 vehicles.Read more

I’m frustrated with the seatbelt recall. The dealership has been amazing at assisting us, but it’s Hyundai that’s dropping the ball with only release 2 seatbelt buckles per week, per dealership. I have 2 seatbelts in my vehicle that are randomly coming unbuckled. I’ve had a few appointments trying to get it fixed, but they can’t get the parts in. Then to receive a letter in the mail abou
