I bought a new 2026 Subaru Outback Limited XT which came with Bridgestone ECOPIA H/L 422 Plus 225/55R19 99H. Went on a trip and noticed when going 60mph and above a low humming noise and felt a vibration in the steering wheel and floor. This happens on all road surfaces, concrete, blacktop etc. Took car to the dealer, they drove it and confirmed what I was noticing, after doing a road force balanc
... e they said all (4) tires were "quote" way out of spec. They did what they could to help with the vibration, they said it's better but after driving it home it's not better by much. The service rep said this was becoming a common complaint with these Bridgestone tires. They told me Subaru is a where of the problem and they were expecting to see a TSB in the coming weeks. I bought the car at the dealership with 50,000 miles on it and purchased an extended warranty as well. I drive for a living with this car and after a few months noticed it would rev high before shifting. When I brought it back to the dealership they did something to it but did not say what. It smelled like they put catalyst cleaner in it though not confirmed. I then had the issue again and the car
... smelled like burning rubber. I took it to a honda dealership and had the transmission fluid as well as the rear differential fluid changed but they did could not find any issues. Now that my warranty has run out and I have over 150,000 I had a tire shop where I was buying new tires inform me that the rear differential carrier bracket bushings were in need of being replaced as soon as possible. I could not afford for them to do it for me. I have researched online and have found this very well could have been the problem with the shifting and rubber smell the entire time. My car was under warranty and now it is not. Why is Honda not replacing this to prevent even bigger failure and repair issues. My son owns a 2019 Honda C RV as well and he says his car is experiencing the exact same issue.Read more

NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINT: RECALL SC336 (CAMPAIGN 21V-301) NON-COMPLIANCE VIN: [XXX] I. PATTERN OF RECALL EVASION Vehicle (2021 Kia Soul) was towed to Classic Kia [XXX] ) on 3/13 with documented engine stalling, knocking, and codes P0014/P0017 (VVT/Timing failure). The dealership withheld this data from Kia Techline for 13 days (3/13–3/26), delaying the safety remedy until state authorities inter
... vened. II. MECHANICAL IMPOSSIBILITY & REMEDY VIOLATION On Saturday 3/28, the dealer claimed a full engine swap was "installed and tested" in only 6.5 hours (7:30 AM–2:15 PM). Per the SC336 mandate, a compliant Long Block assembly (Part # ending in QQK) requires extensive fluid flushes, software reflashing, and safety recalibrations that cannot be performed correctly in this window. I suspect a "Short Block" shortcut was taken, reusing contaminated components in violation of the federal safety remedy. III. FRAUD BY OMISSION & UNIFIED SAFETY HAZARD The dealership is demanding a $99 "diagnostic fee" for an exhaust back-pressure test. Under SC336, testing for "consequential damage" (clogged catalytic converter) caused by the recall defect must be covered by the manufacturer. By omitting the stalling/timing symptoms from the initial Techline report, the dealer bypassed the mandatory exhaust safety testing. Reusing oil-contaminated VVT solenoids, camshafts, and valves from the failed engine poses an immediate fire and safety hazard. IV. DEMAND FOR INVESTIGATION I request NHTSA oversight to ensure Classic Kia provides: 1. Proof of Long Block (21101-QQK) installation vs. unauthorized Short Block (21102). 2. Time-stamped DEVT and GDS Full System Scan logs from 3/28. 3. Verification that all contaminated components were replaced, as a partial remedy leaves the vehicle in a hazardous state. Reusing oil-soaked VVT/cams & skipping exhaust tests creates a fire risk. An incomplete remedy violates SC336, leaving the car a high-risk liability for fire & stalling. Summary of Incident: On March 28, 2026, while traveling at 70 MPH on the Florida Turnpike, the vehicle suffered an instantaneous loss of motive power. The engine died abruptly with no warning. Upon reaching the shoulder, the electronic transmission locked, refusing to shift into Neutral or Park. The engine cranks but will not start. 1. Component Failure & Availability: The exact component is curr
... ently unknown, but the failure involves the Powertrain, Fuel System, and Electronic Transmission Control. The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealership and is available for inspection by the manufacturer or NHTSA upon request. 2. Safety Risk: The sudden loss of power at highway speeds created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision. Because the electronic transmission locked and would not allow the vehicle to be shifted into Neutral, it became a fixed object on a high-speed shoulder. It could not be pushed to a safer location, increasing the risk of a secondary accident. 3. Problem Reproduction: The vehicle was towed directly to an authorized Chevrolet dealership. As of this filing, the dealership is in possession of the vehicle, but the failure has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a technician as they are awaiting formal diagnostic commencement. 4. Inspections: The vehicle was inspected by a roadside towing professional for transport. It is currently at the manufacturer’s authorized service center awaiting a formal diagnostic inspection. No police or insurance inspections have occurred. 5. Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps, "Check Engine" lights, or messages prior to the failure. No symptoms like rough idling or unusual noises occurred. The vehicle performed normally until the moment of total power loss.Read more

The component that has malfunctioned is the hybrid inverter assembly, a loose internal bolt within the hybrid propulsion system. This vehicle is currently held at Fred Haas Toyota Country (Houston, TX) and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of the public are at risk because, as stated by the recall notice given on December 16 2025, this defect involves a bolt in the
... hybrid powertrain that "can become loose and could lead to a loss of motive power or could lead to a fire when the vehicle is on." The safety risk was confirmed by Fred Haas Toyota on March 6, 2026 and while there is no formal "Stop Drive" order, the dealership agreed to ground the vehicle and lend me a rental. As of today, March 28, 2026 there is still no remedy despite Toyota saying they "estimate the remedy can be available in the 1st quarter of 2026." Since my vehicle is currently in possession of the dealership, I am not sure if they have inspected it. Before I gave my car to Fred Haas Toyota Country I did not see any warning lights or messages, but the risk was still there (NHTSA 25V869000). My vehicle has been out of service for 22 days with no estimate repair date or remedy announced and the manufacturer has failed to provide a comparable loaner and has been unresponsive to my calls and messages. I am reporting a failure to remedy a known safety defect in a reasonable timeframe and am requesting an investigation into this delay and assistance with an appropriate rental or vehicle repurchase.Read more

Incident Date: February 10, 2026 Mileage: 1,260 On the morning of February 10, 2026, my 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV (1,260 miles) would not start. The instrument cluster simultaneously displayed three warning messages: 1)“Service Battery Fault — Vehicle Won’t Restart,” 2)“Charging is unavailable,” and 3)“Charge Vehicle Soon.” The vehicle could not be placed in neutral and required do
... lly tow from my garage, as the front wheels were locked and could not roll freely. AAA and I measured the 12V battery at 11.8 volts. AAA technician made attempt to jump 12 volt battery with no success. He made the observation that it was very rare for an EV not to start once the 12 volt battery was jumped. The vehicle was towed to Folsom Chevrolet (Repair Order #558923, opened February 10, 2026). The technician performed a global reset, BECM reprogramming, standalone radio programming, and a manual reset procedure. The repair order was closed with “confirmed no further concerns,” however the root cause — identified in the repair notes as a possible HV module communication fault — was never confirmed diagnosed or repaired. Seven days later (February 17, 2026, RO #559167), the vehicle returned to the dealer with overnight 12V voltage loss, starting at 12.12V and continuing to drop. A parasitic draw test found an 11mA draw. After a second overnight test the dealer closed the repair order as “no concerns found” without identifying or repairing a root cause. Safety concern: A vehicle that cannot be started, cannot be charged, and cannot be placed in neutral poses a serious safety risk — particularly if such a failure occurs on a roadway rather than in a driveway. The inability to shift to neutral prevents the driver from clearing the vehicle from traffic. The root cause of this dual electrical failure has never been confirmed repaired despite two repair attempts.Read more
