On 11/7/25 , we were driving my 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 to a friend's home in rural [XXX] , a trip of approximately 160 miles. At around 5:00 PM, we stopped about halfway to our destination to charge the battery. The car would not charge above 47%. While we continued to attempt to charge the battery, the console displayed a Check Electrical System Warning message, and we received the DTC P1AA700 via
... BlueLink. We were concerned about our safety on the drive up to the mountains. We were afraid the car would stop running on the highway and cause an accident. We were also concerned the car would die in a remote area and we would be stranded. However, the dealership was closed for the weekend. We drove carefully to our friend's home. I contacted Stevens Creek Hyundai on 11/10/25 and arranged to bring the car in on 11/11/25. It had 13,652 miles on it at that time. Eventually, the dealer confirmed the DTC P1AA700 and said they would need to order a new EGMP battery. The car was in the shop for 128 days, waiting for Hyundai to "build a battery" in [XXX] . Eventually, Stevens Creek Hyundai replaced the EV battery and I picked up the car. Given the delay in repairing my car and the growing evidence of Hyundai battery failures, we wanted to report this problem to the authorities. I was parking my car a Hyundai Ioniq 6, in an easy parking space when I briefly removed my foot, which was lightly depressed on the gas pedal to hit the brake pedal, the car suddenly accelerated jumped the curb hit another car and hit a tree. The airbag did not deploy I am uninjured. The other car was parked, but was damaged. My car was damaged. It all happened in about two or three seconds and my
... foot was no longer on the gas pedal. Moreover, the automated systems for parking collision warning, and for automatic stopping did not work. This is what came up when I googled it. Reports suggest some Hyundai Ioniq models, including potential Ioniq 6 instances, may exhibit unexpected, brief acceleration following a software update meant to address a separate braking recall. This issue is often linked to the "N-shift" mode, where the car may accelerate for 2-3 seconds after the driver lifts their foot. I had that software updateRead more

On April 2, 2026, the engine in my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe failed catastrophically while my wife was driving. The vehicle lost power suddenly and completely. There was no warning and no prior symptoms. ... ure mode described in NHTSA recalls 17V226 and 17V578 affecting other 2017 Santa Fe vehicles with the Theta II 2.4L engine. The engine is available for inspection upon request. My VIN does not appear in the recall population, yet the failure is identical to the documented defect. This suggests the recall scope was insufficient. One week prior, we drove this vehicle on a 500+ mile family road trip with our child. The failure that occurred could have happened at highway speed. We are lucky to be alive. No warning indicators appeared before the failure. The vehicle has been regularly maintained. The problem has been preliminarily confirmed by the dealer as suspected bearing failure, pending teardown.Read more

A significant engine failure occurred while driving, presenting as loud knocking from the engine. The issue developed without prior warning lights or messages. The vehicle was inspected by a dealership and the problem was confirmed as internal engine failure (piston slap/engine knock). The dealership recommended full engine replacement. The engine is available for inspection upon request. There
... was no evidence of sludge or lack of maintenance noted during inspection. The most recent oil change had been performed less than 1,000 miles prior to the failure, indicating the issue was not caused by lack of maintenance. This condition creates a safety concern due to the potential for sudden engine failure, loss of power, or engine seizure while driving, which could increase the risk of an accident, especially at highway speeds. The issue has been confirmed by a dealership and has not been repaired due to cost.Read more

While driving at highway speed, the engine suffered a sudden connecting rod bearing failure (Cylinder 3) with no prior warning lamps, messages, or symptoms. The vehicle made a slapping noise, a belt came off, the engine died, and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Hyundai dealership. The driver, a [XXX] [XXX] , was able to safely guide the vehicle to a stop without injury.
... The dealership inspected the engine and confirmed a complete Cylinder 3 connecting rod bearing failure. The technician contacted Hyundai Techline, who confirmed the diagnosis and recommended engine replacement. The estimated repair cost is $6,500. The failed engine is available for inspection at the dealership. This vehicle is a 2019 Tucson with the Nu 2.0L GDI engine, which is covered under the E2 Class Action Settlement for connecting rod bearing defects. Hyundai Service Campaign 966 provides a KSDS software update designed to detect abnormal bearing noise before catastrophic failure occurs. This update was never performed on the vehicle. The 2019 Tucson was not added to Campaign 966 until April 2022, after the vehicle had already been purchased used. The owner was never effectively notified of the campaign and the vehicle was never at a Hyundai dealership where the update could have been performed. Hyundai denied warranty coverage solely because Campaign 966 was not completed, despite confirming the failure is the exact defect type the campaign and settlement were designed to address. The vehicle had only 49,437 miles at the time of failure. The engine failed without any prior warning — the exact scenario Campaign 966 was designed to prevent. In summer 2025, the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) failed and was replaced under a Hyundai recall at no cost. On December 4, 2025, warning lights reappeared. College Park Hyundai diagnosed a faulty battery related to the prior ICCU failure. I paid out of pocket for a 12-volt battery replacement and additional maintenance, as the dealership claimed the battery was not covered. A “Check E

They diagnosed a failed main EV drivetrain battery requiring warranty replacement. As of April 5, 2026, my vehicle has been at the dealership for 122 consecutive days with no repair completed, no replacement battery received, and no estimated completion date. Despite repeated follow-ups, I have received no meaningful updates on repair status or battery availability. I have been without my vehicle for four months with no resolution in sight. This extended delay represents a significant safety concern and an unacceptable failure of Hyundai’s warranty obligations.Read more
