While driving the dash screen starts to flicker on and off and then goes black and a no signal message appears on the screen. When this happens I have no gauges to check and no speedometer to view, very unsafe to drive with no gauges or speedometer. I’ve been to the dealership two times for this problem once in December of 2025 and again in April of 2026 and still have the same issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that the vehicle's liftgate would independently open while idle without warning. The contact stated that while washing her vehicle on an inclined driveway, the liftgate opened without warning. In an effort to avoid being hit by the liftgate, the contact fell to her left side on a concrete driveway. The contact suffered pain and bruises t
... o the left side of her body, with major pain in her left foot. The contact was home alone and managed to drag her body onto a chair before calling her husband for assistance. The contact's husband drove the contact to an urgent care facility, where an X-ray was performed; the X-ray showed no fractures. The facility stated that their equipment was not sufficient to treat her injuries, and they placed a boot on her left leg and referred her to an orthopedic doctor. The contact went to the orthopedic doctor, who performed another X-ray, which showed no fractures. The contact was given another boot; however, the pain remained days after the visit. The contact then went to her pre-scheduled primary care doctor's appointment, where her doctor saw her condition and referred her to another orthopedic doctor. While at her second orthopedic appointment, another X-ray was performed, which also did not show a fracture; however, the orthopedic doctor suggested an MRI scan. The MRI scan showed that the contact had suffered a left heel fracture. The contact also went to another facility for a CAT-scan, which showed that her heel was misaligned and that surgery would be needed to correct the left heel fracture. The contact had surgery for the heel fracture and had the foot wrapped and splinted; the contact was given several medications post surgery. The contact had been scheduled for a follow-up appointment to monitor the heel's progress. In addition, the contact sustained injuries to her left wrist, left buttocks, and left lower calf. Since the injury, the contact has had to use a knee scooter, a walker, and a wheelchair for assistanceRead more

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT, VIN [XXX] . Four 12V battery failures requiring jump-starts in under 800 miles of ownership. No fault codes stored at any failure event. Visit 1 (01/12/26, ~100 mi, RO HYCS79193): Factory OEM battery confirmed failed by GDS. Replaced under warranty. Visit 2 (01/30/26, ~300 mi): Second OEM battery confirmed failed by GDS. Replaced. Visit 3 (03/31/26, ~800 mi): Aftermarket
... AGM tested healthy but required jump-starts. GDS recorded 12V SOC dropping from 99% to 21% then recovering to 79% — consistent with intermittent LDC output interruption, not parasitic drain. Hyundai Techline contacted. No repair performed. Visit 4 (04/08/26, ~800 mi): AGM measured 5.5V, required jump-start. Maryland Lemon Law notice submitted to Hyundai Motor America. The Ioniq 5 has no alternator — the 12V system depends entirely on the ICCU’s DC-DC converter. Hyundai has acknowledged this ICCU defect under NHTSA Recalls 24V-204 and 24V-868, covering 2022–2024 Ioniq 5 models. The 2025 model uses the same E-GMP platform and ICCU architecture but is excluded from both recalls. My symptoms — repeated battery failure with no DTCs, confirmed SOC anomaly on GDS, failure across two battery chemistries — match the subclinical LDC failure mode documented in those recalls. A Hyundai North America case is open and engineering has been engaged. No repair has resolved the defect. I request NHTSA investigate whether the 2025 Ioniq 5 is affected by this defect and consider expanding Recall 24V-868 to the 2025 model year. Please add this complaint to Investigation PE23-011. Three power window regulators have failed on my 2016 Hyundai Tucson within a six-month period. The front driver and front passenger windows both failed first and required replacement. The rear driver-side window has now also failed and is currently stuck in the open position. When the failures occur, the window will move up slightly but then drop back down or will not stay closed, indicating a fa
... ilure of the regulator mechanism rather than normal wear. The fact that multiple window regulators have failed in a short period suggests a defect or premature failure of this component. This creates a safety concern because one window is stuck open, exposing the vehicle interior to weather, reducing security, and potentially affecting driver visibility and safe operation. This appears to be a known issue with this model year, but my vehicle is not included in any recall.Read more

My 2019 Hyundai Kona is equipped with a 2.0L Nu MPI engine covered under Recall 203 (NHTSA Campaign 21V301) for defective piston oil rings. The recall inspection was performed and closed at a Hyundai dealership in September 2023. The engine was passed and not replaced. Following that recall closure, the vehicle has required the same repair four times: replacement of the CVVT Assembly-Exhaust, Cams
... haft Assembly-Exhaust, and Timing Chain Tensioner. Each repair was performed under warranty. The recurring diagnostic code is P0017 (Crankshaft/Camshaft Position Correlation - Exhaust). Total warranty expenditure on these repeated repairs exceeds $7,800. During one of these visits (January 2025), the technician noted the CVVT had a "slight hold on rotation" and flagged possible exhaust camshaft damage. The vehicle has also experienced stalling while driving, creating a direct safety risk to the driver and others on the road. An independent repair facility has evaluated the vehicle and provided a written assessment concluding that full engine replacement is required, and that an underlying engine defect is causing the repeated component failures. It is my position that the Recall 203 inspection was performed inadequately — the defect was present at the time of inspection and was not identified. The recall remedy did not resolve the condition it was designed to address. Hyundai has since declined to replace the engine despite the documented failure pattern and independent shop recommendation. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by both a Hyundai dealer and an independent shop.Read more

The vehicle suffered a structural "seam leak" on the pressurized oil filter housing. This was verified by an authorized Hyundai dealer (Dealer XXX, Invoice #XXX). The failure is a structural crack in the housing component itself, not a maintenance-related seal or filter failure. This defect causes pressurized engine oil to spray directly onto the hot engine block while the vehicle is in operation,
... creating a severe and immediate fire hazard. Additionally, the rapid loss of oil and oil pressure poses a risk of sudden engine seizure or stalling at highway speeds, which could lead to a crash. Despite being a known manufacturing defect in a critical engine component, the manufacturer has refused to address the safety implications or offer a remedy. Here’s a more professional, structured version of your complaint while still clearly conveying the seriousness of the situation: ⸻ I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a 2020 Hyundai Palisade that I purchased from a dealership less than one year ago, along with an extended warranty. Since the time of purchase, the vehicle has experienced ongoing and significant oil consumpt
... ion issues. In fact, it has spent a substantial amount of time in the repair shop—arguably more time than it has been in my possession. Despite these repeated service visits, the problem has not been resolved. The vehicle is currently consuming more than 1.5 quarts of oil per 1,000 miles, which is well beyond what would be considered normal. I have completed an official oil consumption test to document this issue. Notably, these problems began prior to even the first oil change after purchase, indicating that the condition likely existed at the time of sale. Despite the documented issue, both Hyundai Motor Company and the extended warranty provider have denied coverage for repairs. As a result, I am left with a vehicle that has a serious mechanical defect and a high risk of engine failure. I invested approximately $29,000 in this vehicle, and I am now facing the prospect of catastrophic engine damage due to a known issue that has been widely reported with similar vehicles. This situation is extremely concerning and has left me feeling misled and unfairly treated. I am seeking a fair resolution to this matter, including appropriate repair, replacement, or compensation, given the circumstances and the documentation supporting this claim.Read more

Noticed symptoms about a week before I had it towed to a garage for what I thought was a timing chain tensioner, Tech scoped it and found out it was much worse.

My 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport equipped with a Theta II GDI engine began exhibiting excessive oil consumption, engine knocking, and cylinder misfires consistent with the known Theta II engine defect covered under the Hyundai class action settlement. Prior to the failure, the check engine light illuminated and I experienced repeated misfires and audible engine knocking. The vehicle required frequen
... t oil additions between oil changes due to excessive consumption. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Hyundai dealership where a diagnosis confirmed a burnt valve inside the cylinder head. The dealership recommends replacement of the cylinder head or complete engine replacement to correct the issue. The dealership performed a bearing failure test and attributed the burnt valve to carbon buildup. However, excessive oil consumption in a GDI engine directly accelerates carbon buildup on intake valves, as burning oil deposits carbon on valve surfaces preventing proper seating and causing overheating and valve failure. The carbon buildup is therefore a consequential result of the Theta II oil consumption defect, not an independent cause. The safety risk is significant as engine misfires and knocking while driving create unpredictable loss of power and potential for stalling in traffic. The vehicle is currently not reliably operable. The manufacturer has been contacted regarding coverage under the Theta II settlement. The component is available for inspection upon request at the servicing dealershipRead more
