The issue involves a safety defect affecting the second- and third-row seating system in my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. The defect has been identified through an active manufacturer recall indicating a risk of injury to passengers in these seating positions. The vehicle has been out of service and in the dealership’s possession since April 3, 2026, and is available for inspection upon req
... uest. This defect poses a direct safety risk, particularly to children. I have two young children, who would regularly occupy these seats. Due to the recall and lack of an effective repair, I am unable to safely use these seating positions, significantly limiting the safe operation and intended use of the vehicle. The issue has been confirmed by the manufacturer through a safety recall and stop sale. The dealership acknowledged the defect and accepted the vehicle for service; however, after attempted repairs, the condition remained unresolved. When I tested the vehicle at the dealership, both I and a technician observed that the seats continued to present a safety hazard. Specifically, the seat mechanism did not stop or resist as expected and continued moving in a manner that could cause injury. The seat did not stop under pressure and could potentially trap or crush an occupant, even with applied resistance. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership following direction from a Hyundai Motor America case manager. There has been no involvement from police or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or prior symptoms. The defect was identified through a manufacturer-issued recall on or about March 29, 2026. The defect presents a foreseeable risk of injury during normal use and has not been corrected despite manufacturer awareness and attempted repair.Read more

The component involved is the engine and associated knock detection system (KSDS). The system triggered a P1326 code indicating abnormal engine knock associated with a known defect condition. On February 14, 2023, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly entered reduced power (“limp mode”) and lost acceleration capability in active traffic. This created a safety risk, as the vehicle
... was unable to maintain speed with surrounding traffic or accelerate as needed for normal driving conditions. There were no sufficient warnings prior to the event to allow safe planning or avoidance of the loss of power condition. The system activation itself (P1326 and limp mode) was the first indication of the severity of the issue. The problem has been reproduced multiple times, with repeated P1326 events occurring after the initial incident. The condition has been inspected and partially confirmed by a Hyundai dealership. In March 2026, dealership records documented that oil contamination was causing catalytic converter failure, indicating ongoing engine-related deterioration consistent with the defect condition identified by the knock detection system. Despite these findings, the underlying engine condition has not been resolved. The KSDS system is designed to detect a potentially serious engine defect and limit engine power to prevent further damage. However, it does not correct the underlying defect. As a result, the vehicle may continue to operate with a known compromised condition that can trigger reduced power unexpectedly. This creates an ongoing safety concern. A vehicle that can suddenly lose acceleration due to a known defect presents a risk to the driver, passengers, and other motorists, particularly during freeway driving, merging, or other situations requiring normal engine performance. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request.Read more

While traveling to Abilene Tx to see my doctor my check engine light came on. I pulled into the Hyundai dealership and ask the service advisor to plug into my vehicle and let me know what was going on. After he talked to his service manager he advised me that they "where to busy" and the earliest they could get me in would be the next Monday. This was Wednesday. My home is 100 miles from Abilene.
... I asked if he thought it would be alright and he said sure. I barely made it back to Big Spring before it started clinking and cluttering. It sound horrible. My son said it sounded like it through a rod. He checked the oil and said that I had low oil however my low oil light did not come on. I notified the dealership and was advised that I had to have it towed back to the shop in Abilene which I did. After a week passed I was in Abilene and stopped to check on my vehicle. Needless to say my repairs are in excess of 20K. New engine etc. and rear suspension is out also. After researching I have found I'm not the only owner with these problems. There are numerous complaints about these problems with the Palisade. This is a danger to all who own this vehicle. Fires, accidents and no telling what can affect us. All these vehicles need to be recalled because of the engine that was placed in these vehicles. The engine is eating oil fast. My oil changes were on time. Hyundai and the dealership are unwilling to offer any help in repairing my vehicle. The parts on the suspension are sub standard. I can't believe they are called the #1 SUV in America! Buyers need to be aware of the substandard parts and engine. They also need to be aware the Hyundai doesn't stand behind their product or the dealership either for that matter. I shutter to think of who I could've been on the side of the road with a blown on fire engine. I'm thankful I made it home before the vehicle cratered.Read more

The 2nd-row seats in the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy feature motorized recline and folding functions. My testing reveals a significant safety flaw: the motorized "Seat Slide Forward" and "Rear Cargo Fold Down" buttons do not appear to have functioning pinch sensors and do not automatically disable when a passenger or object is detected. Specific Incident: On [XXX], while my [XXX] so
... n was entering the vehicle, the "rear access" button was accidentally triggered. The seat began folding and sliding with him in the path of travel; the motor did not sense his presence or stop automatically. Fortunately, he was not yet buckled and was able to jump out of the way before I manually reversed the action. Technical Findings: Based on further testing (see attached results), any car seat installation would be severely compromised if these buttons are pressed. While the vehicle's system is aware when a seat belt is buckled, it fails to use this logic to lockout the motorized folding functions. All motorized movement should be disabled for any seat where the buckle is engaged to prevent injury to occupants or the structural compromise of a child safety seat. This issue is similar in nature to the recent recall of the 2026 Palisade (NHTSA ID: 26V160000). INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

A recent over-the-air software update removed the ability to control rear seats through the infotainment system, which was a key feature at the time of purchase. On [XXX] while entering the parking lot of my office, I noticed a blinking check engine light on the car's dashboard. I've never experienced this before so I called my husband. He asked me to use a diagnositic tool he kept in the car. I did and there was a code "P1326" when I pressed the key for more information it said something about the manufacturer. My husband told me to call the nearest d

Castle Hyundai verified the P1326 code and fixed the knock sensor, changed the oil. I picked the car up on March 13. On [XXX], the flashing check engine light returned while driving home from work. Again, we used the diagnostic tool and again the code P1326 appeared. The car was towed back to Castle Hyundai. On Monday, I spoke with Christain Jones the service director because I hadn't heard anything about the car. He called later in the day and said that the car needed a new engine. He asked for records of my oil changes since purchasing the car in 2021. I emailed him three from 2022, 2023 and 2024, the four change was done by Castle on March 12 2026. I was told that he would send the the information to Hyundai regarding a new engine. However, he stated that he was not confident the company would approve the claim. This after, I received an email from Eric Marcum with Castle. The email stated that Hyundai denied the engine replacement due to "lack of maintenance". He wanted to know if we wanted an estimate on replacement of the engine. I responsed that I needed Hyundai's rejection in writing and I also wanted an estimate of the replacement. I attempted to contact Hyundai's Customer Care, however, their offices were closed until Monday. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I PURCHASED THIS 2022 TUCSON LIMITED HYUNDAI NEW. IT HAS 25,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A POWER REDUCTION BEGAN ALONG WITH SHAKING OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION SAFELY. I WAS ABLE TO TURN INTO A SAFE SPOT AND SHUT DOWN THE CAR. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO THEN INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS AN INJECTOR KNOW ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR AND WOULD BE COVERED UNDER
... THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY. HOWEVER, AS THIS IS A ENGINE/POWERTRAIN PROBLEM, IT SHOULD BE COVERED ON THE 100,000/TEN YEAR WARRANTY. A TSB (23-FL-002H-1) ALERT HAD ALREADY BEEN ISSUED, BUT NOT A RECALL. MANY OWNERS HAVE REPORTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM REPEATEDLY, AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A KNOWN MFG DEFECT. WHEN IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO STEP UP AND DEMAND A REAL FIX BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED? OWNER ARE CURRENT LEFT FIGHTING WITH THE DEALERS OVER THE WARRANTY LIMITS OR TAKING LEGAL ACTION. IF YOU GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM, YOU CAN FIND OUT THE NATIONAL LEVEL OF THIS PROBLEM, FROM ACCIDENTS WHICH CAUSED FIRES OR ACCIDENTS FROM POWER LOSS. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALER WAITING ON PARTS. ITS TIME TO FORCE A RECALL! I WILL BE DEMANDING THAT IT IS COVERED FOR THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD AND CONSIDERING TAKING ACTION UNDER THE LEMON LAWS. IF THE GOVERNMENT FAILS TO ACT ON THIS SOON, THAN THEY ARE JUST AS LIBEL AS THE MANUFACTURER. YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUES IS REQUESTED.Read more

... code or had found any history of the error code coming up without proving to me or showing me any substantial evidence that they tested for anything at the Escondido Hyundai dealership in California. I escalated the issue with Hyundai corporate and was assigned a case manager that ultimately gave me the same answer that they could not replicate any codes and that I should take the car back and drive normally. After extensive research I found that the orange check ev light is a more dangerous sign than the red check ev light because it indicates that the ICCU unit is about to fail. Research shows that due to thermal stress the ICCU will inevitably fail after the orange check AV light comes on. Further research shows that Hyundai had officially stated a 1% failure rate for the ICCU unit in all of their EVs built on the e-gmp cars to date but some projections are at 10% failure rate or higher and that Hyundai Kia is downplaying the issue similarly to how they tried to do the same with the Theta 2 GDI engines that they had been sued and were responsible to pay over $300 or so million dollars as well as $24 million to a employee whistleblower a few years ago. I highly suggest that the nhtsa or other organizations that have the power to force Hyundai Kia to do the right thing so that no further lives are at risk from these ICCU units that have flawed designs that have not been fixed, only remedied via software update or replaced with refurbished units at the most with inevitable failure as thermal stress is experienced.Read more

Hello, I would like to report the rental company that rented us the car with 2 open recalls. The name of the company is NU car rental locating at 2900 SE 6th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. It rented us a Hyundai Palisade with the plate number [XXX] from April 5 to April 10th, 2026. They knew that we needed a car for 6 people and that the 3rd row was going to be used. And the 2nd recall relates t
... o the use of 3 row seats. Please see the rental agreement as a proof. I know the same company in Orlando was under federal investigation for the same issue. To my knowledge, rental companies are prohibited from renting cars with open recalls by the federal law. Please investigate this company. On April 10,2026 I heard a pop while driving and a check electrical system light came on, my vehicle lost power while driving. This appears to be a common problem with ioniq5 and 6 going back years. Also failure in their ICCU and 12 volt batteries.A veh. Losing power unexpectedly could lead to a collision, injury or worse.my Ioniq 6 was recently serviced and only has 14,794 miles.I respectfully ur
... ge the national highway traffic safety administration to: 1.continue and expand investigation into electrical system failures in the Hyundai ioniq 6 and 5. Also 2. Ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired with permanent solutions or the company should have to buy back the unsafe defective vehicles. Also 3. Require clearer and more immediate warnings to drivers regarding the risk of sudden power loss. Drivers should not have to keep experiencing this safety risk, after all these years of it being reported.Read more

Over the past four days, my vehicle has repeatedly applied braking unexpectedly without a valid obstacle or need to brake. This has occurred multiple times under normal driving conditions, including: Twice on the freeway in stop-and-go traffic with vehicles at a safe distance ahead Multiple times on regular city streets with vehicles ahead at approximately 15–20 feet Once while turning into my
... driveway as my garage door was opening In one instance on the freeway, a vehicle behind me nearly collided due to the sudden unexpected braking. The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (Automatic Emergency Braking) system is set to “Late,” yet the vehicle still applies braking unnecessarily. This behavior did not occur previously and has started happening repeatedly within the past four days. This creates a significant safety risk, particularly in traffic where unexpected braking can cause rear-end collisions. The vehicle has approximately 1050 miles and has not been modified. The issue is currently being evaluated by a Hyundai dealership and has been reported to Hyundai Motor America under an open case.Read more
