I am writing to formally file a complaint against the Ford Motor Company concerning a serious issue with our 2017 Ford Escape equipped with the EcoBoost engine. The engine suffered a catastrophic failure at approximately 120,000 miles with no previous warning. Upon inspection by a certified mechanic, it was determined that the failure stemmed from a known defect (coolant leaking into the cylinder
... ) in the 1.5L/1.6L EcoBoost engine, which has been widely reported by other consumers experiencing similar issues. This failure resulted in an unexpected and significant financial burden, with repair/replacement costs estimated at approximately $14,000. I find it unacceptable that a relatively new vehicle with a supposedly reliable engine would experience such a severe issue that appears to be a systemic defect rather than a result of misuse or neglect. I contacted Ford Motor Company to report this issue and seek assistance or coverage for the repairs. Unfortunately, I received no resolution or offer of goodwill, despite this being a known and documented problem. There have been class-action lawsuits and technical service bulletins (TSBs) related to the EcoBoost engines, which further indicates that this is not an isolated case. I have attached a copy of the repair invoice from a local Ford dealership.Read more

Nuna issued a recall on the rava car seats. The way they have handled the recall has left so many families in a horrible situation. These are very expensive car seats and they did not provide remedy kits in a timely manner, and then when we received the kit it wasn’t even what we originally had. I just hope they are being held accountable for how horribly they have handled this recall.

The car lost its ability to accelerate during rush hour on a very busy interstate while I was in the far left lane. It started by jerking really hard off and on, like a very hard brake for a second, and then normal for a few seconds, and then hard braking again. I could accelerate after the "braking". There were no warnings or errors. This continued for about a minute while I was trying to dec
... ide if it was triggered by accelerating or braking, and I couldn't figure it out. At that point, I couldn't accelerate and received a number of lights and a message to check the EV system or the electrical system. I don't remember because at that point I was trying to immediately figure out how to pull over and not get hit. Luckily, it was slow enough and traffic had just thinned out enough, having passed a popular exit, so that I could coast to the shoulder across all of the traffic. I noticed at this point that the car was in neutral. I couldn't shift into drive, however. I tried to see if turning it off and back on might help. It did at that point. There were no error messages, and I could shift into drive and drive normally after turning it off and back on. Again, I wasn't concerned with documenting an error message that I assumed would be stored. The car is available for inspection. The safety of myself and my kids and other drivers around me was at risk as we could not accelerate and I was in the far left lane to the right of an express lane and left of a lot of traffic to have to cross to get out of traffic. No, the problem has not been reproduced, and it was taken in the next morning to the dealer who found nothing wrong and no stored error codes. No lamps or messages appeared before the loss of acceleration and promptly disappeared after restarting the car. Nothing was stored for the dealer to retrieve, either. The dealer ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong.Read more

What is the problem? Battery failure after receiving recall 25V019 notice. I was informed in February 2024 that my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport was affected by a battery recall, but that the remedy was not yet available. The battery subsequently failed in April, requiring a paid replacement out of pocket ($313.99). I have attempted to get reimbursement from both the Ford dealership and Ford corporate. E
... ach party continues to deny responsibility and refers me back to the other. Why is this a safety concern? Battery failure left me stranded, requiring a tow. Had I been driving under different conditions (e.g., rural roads or at night), this could have created serious safety risks. The lack of resolution from Ford raises concern about their accountability regarding known defects. What action do you want NHTSA to take? I would like NHTSA to investigate Ford’s failure to reimburse for a known recall issue and hold them accountable for not honoring the recall protection as outlined in federal safety standards.Read more

The issue involves the hybrid electric powertrain or electrical control system in my 2023 Hyundai Elantra Limited Hybrid. The vehicle has shut off multiple times while driving, with complete loss of power and propulsion. This poses a serious safety risk, as it happens without warning in the middle of the road. Restarting the car requires shifting into Park and trying multiple times to turn it off,
... but the vacuole turns back on the first try. I have experienced this issue several times, including twice during a 300-mile highway trip. After each shutdown, the dashboard displays multiple warning lights, including the Check Engine Light, Battery Light, Oil Pressure Light, and Hybrid System Warning (orange car icon). I took a photo immediately after the most recent failure to document these warnings. The vehicle has been inspected three times by two different Hyundai dealerships. Both confirmed the vehicle is under warranty but have not repaired or diagnosed the issue, citing that they cannot replicate it. They have driven it ~200 miles without success. However, they have not pulled ECU data or freeze-frame codes, even though warning lights were active at the time of failure. There are no symptoms or warning messages before the failure — the vehicle shuts off suddenly. The car is available for inspection, and I am in the process of opening a formal case with Hyundai. This is a significant and recurring safety hazard that must be addressed. This issue has an occurred a various speeds including during acceleration and braking. The picture attached is the dashboard after the I indent has occurred and have shifted to park after stopping to try and restart the car to get out of the middle of the road.Read more

On the morning of Thursday, [XXX], our 2022 Yukon Denali departed from West Richland, WA with the intent to arrive in Spokane, WA. After a short stop in Ritzville, WA around [XXX] local time, we entered the freeway ([XXX] to Spokane, WA) and attempted to pass a semi-truck. The vehicle got to approximately 60mph and then began to rev without any propulsion to increase speed. The vehicle shut off

While the situation was extremely dangerous give the traffic (semi-truck on the right and an approaching vehicle directly behind us), we slowed the vehicle and maneuvered to the shoulder where we stopped the vehicle. The vehicle would not start so we leverage the OnStar system to call a tow truck. Unfortunately, there was no ride available being 1-2 miles outside of Ritzville, WA where transportation services do not exist. We requested the help of WA state troopers who picked up 7 of us (4 separate trips) on the side of the highway. The vehicle was towed to Spokane, WA and we were left to fend for ourselves to get to Spokane. The vehicle is in the shop and we are told based on the codes achieved that it is a full engine failure. I am writing to report a serious and ongoing safety issue with my 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid that remains unresolved despite multiple visits to Hyundai service centers and independent repair shops. I’ve also found numerous consumer discussions online describing nearly identical issues with the same model and newer Elantra Hybrid models, suggesting this may be part of a wider systemic defect. T
... he core issue lies within the vehicle’s hybrid system. Shortly after a recent system/software update performed at a Hyundai dealership, a warning message began appearing at random intervals stating: “Check Hybrid System.” This typically first appears after extended driving — often around 3 hours — but once it occurs, the issue worsens if I continue to drive. Each time the warning appears, the vehicle suddenly and drastically decelerates without driver input, becoming dangerously slow and unresponsive, even while traveling at highway speeds. This creates an urgent safety risk, as I have had to maneuver off the road quickly to avoid collisions. After the initial warning, if I attempt to drive the vehicle again without sufficient downtime, the warning reappears much more frequently — sometimes within minutes. The only temporary relief is to stop using the vehicle and allow it to rest for at least six hours, after which the issue may temporarily subside. In every case, I must use the 12V battery reset button to restart the car, which I suspect may be clearing diagnostic codes before they can be properly recorded. Notably, the check engine light disappears after this reset, even if it was previously displayed. Given that the hybrid battery is located beneath the rear passenger seat, I am deeply concerned that if there is an underlying thermal or electrical issue, it could pose a serious or life-threatening risk to passengers. To date, no dealership or technician has been able to duplicate or permanently resolve the problem.Read more
