On [XXX] I went to start the car and received warnings about Manual Braking being engaged and to contact roadside service along with other notifications and the car wouldn't power on. After numerous attempts the car powered up and alerted me Drive Carefully Fault. I began to drive slowly through a parking lot and it took over 200 lbs of pressure to bring the car to a complete slow stop. I pulle
... d over and turned off the car. I tried rebooting the car and did so assuming it was a bug in the system. When the car powered back up the flaw had vanished and I carefully drove home. A short time later when I turned the car on I followed the instructions and called roadside service and described my situation. To my surprise, roadside service had never heard of the problem before. I then contacted Rusnak BMW service center and talked them through what was happening. Once again I was surprised to learn that they too had never heard of the problem. I brought the car into Rusnak BMW on May 30th. Over the course of the next week and a half I was never given any concrete news about why the car had acted that way. In fact I was told that they had to elevate the situation to NEW JERSEY where the higher ups would review the situation. No concrete information was provided other than they drove the car for 11 miles and felt comfortable having me pickup the car. Admittedly, it was frustrating to be called to pickup my car not knowing why there was a problem with the braking system and being given no assurances it wouldn't happen again. As I went to leave the Rusnak dealership my car wouldn't start and the process began all over as it had on [XXX]. When I got the car to start the brakes were not reacting and I drove the car 100 feet to the front door of BMW front door and with over 200lbs brought the car to a stop. Rusnak BMW is once again working on a problem they seemingly dont know how to fix. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Our Tucson was stolen in Charlotte, NC on [XXX]. The pax rear window was broken and the thieves broke open the steering column to start the car. It appears they used the well-known "Tik-Tok" method. I have record that our Tucson had the "software update" installed, at a local dealership, a year ago. This update (which should've been a recall) was supposed to address this issue. Despite this updat

Part of the update includes a specific window sticker that is to be applied to the driver's door window. That decal is missing. There is no evidence that it was ever there (I have pictures). The car was recovered but cannot be driven. It must be towed due to the damage. Another concern is the engine and drive train. Criminals were out joy riding in our stolen car on an almost full tank of gas. Because the car cannot be driven, I don't know if there is any damage to any part(s) of the drive train. We are now waiting for our insurance company to arrange to have the car repaired. I am very concerned now about the long term viability and reliability of this car. I eventually had to turn on the emergency brake and then force the vehicle into park. It was a very scary scenario. I called the dealership to explain the situation and the service advisor suggested that I have the vehicle towed to the dealership for a diagnostic evaluation. After sitting in the car for 30 minutes with it turned off, I turned it back on and drove the vehicle on surface streets to the dealership with no breaking incident. The next day, the service department performed a diagnostic inspection and determined that the 12 volt battery was the cause and needed to be replaced. I was relieved that this was the issue. The technician kept the vehicle one more day to drive it and be sure it was operational. In the end, I purchased a new battery. I am writing your organization to report this incident to try to avoid any injuries or deaths in the future. This incident happened to me without any warning and could have been very dangerous if I was at a busy intersection or on the freeway. There was no warning on the dashboard about the battery or maintenance warning to see the dealer. This needs to researched with Nissan Motor Company. 1) What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The cylinders are constantly misfiring. 2 )How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes. 3) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. 4) Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance represent
... atives or others? Yes, by a private auto service center. 5) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. 6) Problem description: The service technician from the repair shop tried replacing the plug, coil, injector but it still misfires. Later the technician reported that this is a problem listed as recall (Recall Reference number : NTB13-056a, Campaign ID: PC131) for 2007-2008 Nissan Altima, but the same problem exists in 2009 Nissan Altima and is not listed as recall. Links for references are given below. The technician is sure that it is the same problem and NISSAN should fix it by recalling instead of asking the Owners to pay for this known recall issue. Repairing this issue by owners, would cost them several thousand dollars and is definitely not worth for a 2009 car. So I request the authorities to enforce this known issue as a recall to 2009 NISSAN ATLIMA as well as it has been done for 2007 and 2008 NISSAN ALTIMAs. Thanks and Regards.
