I am writing to raise a safety concern regarding the use of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system on my 2023 Tesla Model Y when a rear hitch-mounted bike rack is installed. Numerous users, including myself, have experienced dangerous or erratic behavior from FSD when carrying bicycles on a rear-mounted rack. Specific issues include: False detection of a trailing vehicle directly behind the ca

Unreliable navigation at intersections (e.g., nearly running stop signs) due to apparent misinterpretation of sensor data. In some cases, tailgating or aggressive following behavior by the vehicle. These behaviors appear to stem from the FSD system misinterpreting the presence or visual signature of the rack and bikes as another vehicle. In several online reports, this has led to unsafe maneuvers. To temporarily mitigate the issue, some drivers have resorted to taping over the rear camera, which is neither safe nor user-friendly. While I recognize Tesla has made improvements such as camera obstruction warnings (e.g., in FSD v12.5.6+), these do not address the core misclassification problem. My requests: That Tesla officially acknowledge and investigate FSD misbehavior in the presence of rear-mounted bike racks. That Tesla provide clear driver guidance on whether FSD should be used when such a rack is installed. That the FSD system include an option for a “Bike Rack Mode” or alternative logic to prevent rear-camera misinterpretation. The area to access the airbag is sealed and would require a new dashboard. There is now a new Chevy dealer here that can do the recall but I would have to pay the cost to replace the dashboard so it hasn't been done as I'm not able or willing to pay for the additional expense.Read more

The vehicle was parked(placed in park on gear shift) in a friends driveway, facing upward on approx. 15Deg incline with the engine idling. My wife exited the vehicle and walked around the front of the vehicle to the houses front entrance where she spoke briefly with the owner inside the front door. She opened the door and found the gear shift still in the parked position at which point she entered the car, placed it in reverse and backed out of the tree branches and took photos. The incident was immediately reported to KIA America and the dealer. The vehicle has been at the dealer for 3 weeks now with no resolution, undergoing "testing". They say it is not operating the way it should be, but they have not been able to identify or correct the issue. KIA America has told me the issue has been elevated to KIA factory tech support. I was driving hit a puddle of water, then all the sudden my power steering went out. I took it in to get looked at, and I'm being told it will cost several thousand dollars to fix the power steering. In addition, this vehicle has air in the suspension, but it now makes sounds when it lifts and takes a longer period of time to lift than normal. Something is effected in my suspension, as well. M

Lastly, after calling in to Audi, they did a search for the warranty, and Audi did add an extended warranty on the power steering of 125,000 miles or 10 years, which ever occurs first. This means they know about the power steering issue, and with my car being just over 10 years old, the power steering is not covered. I also know a friend who has a 2015 S6 Audi with just under 125,000 miles on it. It happened to him, as well. I will let him know he needs to report the issue, because there is a clear power steering or electrical problem. I have no power steering as of now, and to me, this is a safety issue. I believe something electrical got shorted out which is causing the power steering to be manual steering and problems with suspension when lifting. I'm mainly concerned with the power steering going out with under 70k miles and it takes a lot of effort to drive this. We have taken the vehicle to our local Kia dealership, but they were unable to replicate the problem or identify any issues. Despite this specific recall repair, the severe ESC steering issue has persisted and recurred multiple times since that date, indicating a failure of the repair to permanently resolve the safety defect. Secondary Safety Defect: Inaudible Parking Collision Assistance The vehicle's parking collision assistance system is non-functional. Its audible warnings are inaudible and have never worked as designed since vehicle acquisition. This eliminates a critical safety feature intended to prevent low-speed parking collisions. Finally, The combination of a critical, recurring ESC steering defect, unaddressed by a recall repair, and a continuously inaudible parking collision assistance system, renders this vehicle highly unsafe to drive.
