After three oil leak repairs in my LM2 3.0 diesel engine in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado RST, you would think that would be enough to repair the manufacturer's defects, but it wasn't. I think the saying is fourth time is the charm? The third repair which was a second oil pan lasted a whopping 48 hours before leaking. This time it ended up being the timing chain cover that was leaking. Again, the se
... rvice advisor mentioned that these are known to leak too due to a defect from the manufacturer. I even got a call from the service manager, and he said that anything area that could and does leak oil on these LM2 engines has been replaced and/or repaired, so I should be good for the future. I called into GM as per their instructions to update them on the fourth oil leak, and where the repairs were taking place. Fast forward to nearly two months later, and no one from GM attempted to contact me, and Jill stated that the case was closed and wouldn't disclose why. The only thing she could do was open another case. I declined since GM couldn't be bothered to address the issues they know they have in the LM2. The dealership the work was done in, the service advisors, the service techs, and the service manager all discussed in great detail the issues Chevrolet is having with the 3.0 diesel engine. GM knows this and refuses to address this. At this point, my vehicle spent 37 days in 2.5 months at the dealership fixing oil leaks that at any time could have caused engine failure and resulted in a crash. This truck is our dedicated family vehicle as my wife and I each daily Subaru WRX's. GM has done nothing and will do nothing. Someone needs to issue recalls to address the oil leak issues with the LM2 before it results in someone's death. I wish I wouldn't have wasted time contacting GM. I should have filed these complaints and got legal representation for the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. **NO loaner vehicle was given during the entire 37-day repair duration.**Read more

The drivers side grab handle (a pillar trim piece) is cracked through completely at upper bolt mount location, causing the grab handle to be weakened and unable to safely support while using and could pull away from vehicle while in use potentially causing the driver to fall and become injured. I replaced the original with a genuine OEM replacement from the dealership and it cracked in the exac
... t same place. I posted an inquiry to a Facebook group of fellow GMC owners and there were numerous reports of this having to them and having the dealership replace under warranty, only to have the issue occur again. This structural failure seems to happen with or without use of the grab bar.Read more

The second oil leak repair and the first repair for the oil pan failed within one week of the previous repair. This is the third oil leak that occurred in the LM2 engine in the 2020 Silverado. It was identified as an additional leak in the oil pan which had already been repaired the week prior. This is a failure within seven days from the previous repair. I lost 1/2 quart of oil during a 650-mile
... drive back from vacation. I took pictures of the oil level before leaving and driving home. During our drive, we passed through an area called Yermo where it was 107 degrees at 11am. The two closest Chevrolet dealerships are either 45 minutes or 1.5 hours one-way. I was incredibly frustrated since imagine being stranded in 107-degree weather with your family on the side of the road unable to run AC. It is a serious life, health, and safety issue at this point. I called GM and opened a case expecting them to assist me with the issues with the truck. Fast forward to today, I spoke with Jill at GM, they closed the case without even reaching out to me. This was the third of four oil repairs that have been conducted on my vehicle and the LM2 engine. It isn't a safe engine to have. **No loaner vehicle was given during the repair.**Read more

There was a significant oil leak that was diagnosed during a routine oil change in March of 2025. The dealership that identified the leak attempted to pass it off as something that was out of warranty even though the vehicle had an additional six months and 45,000 miles of warranty (3.0 diesel). The leak was significant enough that loss of oil could cause the engine to fail and result in a crash.
... Subsequently, another dealership identified the leak and repaired the seal around the lower crankcase. It did not repair the oil leak- there are three additional reports/complaints to file.Read more

I wanted to bring to your attention an ongoing issue with the backup camera functionality. Despite updating the car software to version 3.6.4 as per the last recall, the backup camera still frequently shows "camera unavailable" when placing the vehicle into reverse. It seems that the problem remains unresolved even after following the recommended update per the recall.

We purchased this car new around June 2023 from a local Hyundai dealer. The car has been regularly maintained (at the dealer) and only has 20,000 miles approximately. In April of this year, my wife was drive on a very busy highway and suddenly all of the warning lights came on the dashboard and the car shuddered to a very rapid stop. She was lucky to pull off the road or it would have been seri

It has been there since (today is August 5th). They claim they cannot locate the issue and have been working with Hyundai Motor to troubleshoot. I filed a complaint with Hyundai (and really no assistance offered). Last week, they told us it was repaired and to come get it. My wife barely made it out of the lot before it did the same and came to a sudden stop. Not sure if this is happening to other Hyundai vehicles but this is certainly a dangerous situation... and the fact that they cannot determine the cause or how to fix, we are very concerned.Read more

On [XXX] Jim Ellis Kia of Kennesaw performed Recall SC284 on my 2013 Kia Soul (VIN: [XXX] ), replacing the HECU fuse. The next day, [XXX], the vehicle lost acceleration while driving, produced a muffled engine sound, and became barely able to move forward, creating an unsafe driving condition. At no point did the check engine light illuminate, even though the vehicle was experiencing severe driva
... bility issues. Prior to the recall, Kia’s own diagnostic (July 19, 2025) showed no catalytic converter or battery issues. An independent AAA diagnostic performed after the failure (July 21, 2025) ruled out pre-existing converter damage and linked the problem to the recall work. Despite this, the dealership denied responsibility and issued an unsupported estimate of $4,951.41 for catalytic converter replacement. The absence of a check engine light raises concerns that the recall work may have compromised the vehicle’s OBD-II diagnostic system, preventing detection of a safety defect. Furthermore, the evidence suggests that damage occurred to the catalytic converter while the vehicle was in Kia’s possession or as a direct result of the faulty installation of the recall fuse. This incident involves a safety risk, improper recall repair, and potential violation of federal recall law. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the adequacy of Recall SC284 installation procedures and Kia’s handling of this case. The motorcycle becomes unstable and has a "death wobble". I purchased the motorcycle new from a Harley Davidson dealer and all service has been perform by the same dealer. The dealer performed a test drive, checked the neck bearing, tire pressure and inspected tires. The "wobble" is not just an annoyance it is a true critical safety issue. I have also noted a significant number of other owners of the same motorcycle model/year have reported the same concern listed above. I urge the NHTSA to give a high priority in review of this safety concern. I have left the "Additional Details" section of this report blank as it occurred multiple times with the most recent being 8/4/2025 and the first being mid-May 2025. Engine shots off while on the automatic stop and go idle . It is being doing it for a while but it is happening more often even with the auto idle off and it even happened at the freeway. It gives me a message to put it in park or neutral and turn the engine on manually. Making this a very dangerous situation because cars behind me don’t know that my engine suddenly shots off. Thanks

The HVAC drainage system in my 2021 Hyundai Kona failed due to a clogged AC drain line, which led to water leaking into the cabin and mold growth. The dealer reported the drain was blocked by a spiderweb and that moisture had collected under the driver and passenger carpets. They unclogged the line, but did not inspect beneath the carpet or inside the HVAC system. Soon after, I experienced musty
... odors, asthma flare-ups, and headaches while driving. At-home mold tests under the passenger seat and footwell came back positive. White mold was also visibly growing under the carpet. A similar issue occurred in my fiancé’s Hyundai Elantra, also purchased from the same dealer. His AC drain was clogged and mold tested positive in the cabin, though his car had no smell. Our vehicles are stored in different environments, which rules out external environmental causes and points to a broader design flaw. There are Hyundai forums online confirming this same issue is not isolated to us. Even if spiderwebs were involved, a single web should not disable a critical drainage function and cause health risks. HVAC systems should be designed to resist common environmental factors like debris or insects. I am a cancer survivor (diagnosed in 2024) and must avoid environmental toxins like mold. Despite repeated outreach to Hyundai and the dealer, I was told no inspection or remediation would be provided beyond detailing, which is not sufficient for mold. Component that failed: AC evaporator drain tube Confirmed by dealer: Yes Manufacturer inspection: No – Hyundai declined to investigate Safety concern: Yes – mold has triggered respiratory symptoms and makes the vehicle unsafe for passengersRead more
