The Hyundai Santa Cruz has KNOWN transmission issues and the fact I was nearly rear ended could've caused a nasty wreck, resulting in more damage or even a fatality. I reported the issue to Hyundai customer service on the 11th of September (Case #[XXX]). However, in the response from Hyundai, basically saying they "experiencing a high e-mail volume" and responses may be delayed. The problem was inspected by Honda dealer and advised there is an extended warranty on EPS and confirmed that the EPS malfunction and needs to be replaced, but was advised that American Honda will not honor the warranty because there are no system codes coming up, there where no warnings, lights on dash, noises or anything indicating EPS failure. The forward collision avoidance that we have experienced engaging previously, never engaged, despite hitting multiple vehicles on the lefft side and then right side of the street. The collision avaoidance alarms that we have experienced sounding previously, also never went off. The airbags never deployed, despite hitting 3 cars at two different sides of the street, as well as an iron fence that never moved. The vehicle went from traveling less than 5 mph while completing the last few feet of parking to a high rate of acceleration within a path of less than 40 feet, as evidenced by the significant damage it left. Had my wife not come to a stop as quickly as she did, she could have been seriously injured. If anyone had been on the sidewalk - there are 3 shcools on this block that children are often present - someone could have been killed. The vehicle is currently at a body shop being evaluated by insurance adjuster and likely a total loss. The RV stalled, leaving the occupants stranded for several hours, but eventually restarted. The RV was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the OEM fuel module needed to be replaced but eventually used an aftermarket fuel module. The RV was towed to another local dealer, Harry Robinson Sallisaw Ford (2300 S Kerr Blvd, Sallisaw, OK 74955) where it was determined that the fuel module, fuel pump, and PCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted, and the RV was towed back to the same local dealer. While driving my 2016 Honda Pilot Touring (approx. 110,000 miles) with my wife and two children [XXX] , the vehicle suddenly malfunctioned without warning. As I was coming to a stop, the dashboard lit up with multiple warning lights and the engine appeared to stumble/stall. Once I regained focus, I could hear a loud ticking/knocking from the engine. ... risk while the vehicle was in motion. I brought the vehicle to the dealership where all maintenance has been performed since purchase. A diagnostic scan revealed code P0302 (misfire cylinder 2). Upon inspection, the mechanic found metal shavings in the oil filter and determined that cylinder #2 suffered a spun rod bearing, resulting in connecting rod and crankshaft damage. The engine was deemed non-repairable and requires full replacement. The Pilot has been properly maintained, with the most recent oil change performed on 5/13/2025 and no issues noted. I am the original owner, and the in-service date was late 2015 (among the first redesigned Pilots). This appears to be a critical engine defect that occurs without warning, resulting in catastrophic engine failure and creating a serious safety hazard for drivers and passengers. And then it fixes itself and it starts to work again a few days later. The center screen goes blank sometimes. The radio button on and off sometimes it does not turn on. One confirmed low oil pressure and oil contamination at the sensor. Previous visits dismissed the oil warning and charged me for oil replacement instead of identifying the underlying defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by Hyundai dealers multiple times. I also have two inspection reports from the same dealer just two weeks apart with contradictory findings the first showing no oil issue, the second confirming oil contamination and failed oil pressure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The oil warning light and check engine light have both come on. The vehicle has gone into limp mode, and symptoms have included shaking, misfiring, rough idling, and loss of power. The dealer ( P & C Auto of Vance SC) used a code reader to clear out safety codes before the car was purchased. After having a diagnostic test done, a mechanic was able to show the codes and when they were cleared. He recommended returning the car back as it was not safe to operate. The car has been at the mechanic since May where it was towed after being dragged across the road and stalling out. It sat overnight because it would not start. He is unable to repair.
