On multiple occasions, the idle-stop function engaged at a red light and then either the entire car shut down or the computer froze for a minute or two then restarted. For each incident, we had cars behind us that either nearly hit us when we did not go forward when the light turned green or nearly hit us by aggressively going around us while we restarted the engine.

Van Hyundai Dealership in Carrollton, TX has confirmed excessive oil consumption causing catalytic converter failure that results in the engine stalling and unable to accelerate. We’ve already replaced the catalytic converter once in 2024 because it was full of oil and causing engine failure. Less than a year later (less than 10,500 miles) the same problem was reproduced. The dealership refuses
... to replace our engine due to the engine defect. This problem directly impacts the engines ability to perform, unable to accelerate on the interstate, and engine stalling which directly impacts our safety and puts our family into a life threatening situation when the engine fails on the highway. The engine has a defect that Hyundai refuses to address. There are no warnings or engine lights that appear beforehand which is extremely concerning and a liability. Hyundai motor company is corrupt. Component/System Failure: The 10-speed automatic transmission failed prematurely at only 75,000 miles. The transmission is still in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. The symptoms include harsh shifting between gears, particularly into lower gears, followed by significant lag and then abrupt jumping/engagement. This is consistent with numerous other complaints filed regarding t
... he 10-speed transmission in this model year. Safety Risk: The unpredictable transmission behavior created dangerous driving conditions. The harsh shifting and lag followed by sudden acceleration made it impossible to safely merge into traffic, navigate intersections, or maintain consistent speed on highways. The erratic gear engagement put myself, my passengers, and other drivers at risk as the vehicle's response became completely unreliable. The truck is currently unsafe to drive. Professional Confirmation: Yes, the problem has been confirmed by Aamco Transmission on Sept 17, 2025. They diagnosed it as transmission failure requiring complete replacement. Manufacturer/Other Inspection: No inspection by Ford has occurred to date. Warning Indicators: No warning lights, check engine lights, or dashboard messages appeared prior to or during the failure. The only symptoms were the physical driving symptoms described above—harsh shifting, significant lag, and abrupt gear engagement—which began approximately gradually over the past month and progressively worsened until the vehicle became unsafe to operate.Read more

On September 28, 2025, after parking in my garage on a hot day (~80°F), my Genesis GV80 automatically locked all doors while my 3-year-old child and dog were still inside. My keys were also locked in the vehicle. Neither the driver nor passenger door thumbprint sensors responded. For approximately 20 minutes, I was unable to unlock the car while my daughter was trapped inside crying and screaming
... . I was forced to call the police and emergency services. The situation was only resolved when I calmed my daughter enough to press the unlock button from inside, just before the ambulance arrived. Police responded to the scene and a report was made. This is the second time this defect has occurred. A nearly identical incident happened previously when my daughter was 2 years old, though I did not obtain a police report at that time. This defect presents a serious safety hazard to children and passengers, especially in warm weather when entrapment can quickly lead to heat-related injury or worse. The locking and keyless entry system (including electronic thumbprint access) failed without warning. No dashboard lights, error messages, or other warnings appeared prior to the failure. The defect is reproducible, has been reported to Genesis, and is available for inspection. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I have a 2016 KIA Optima SX Turbo with 33,500 miles that the windows one by one are failing due to a defective regulator drum gear. This very flimsy gear fails and the window will not roll up. I have had 3 out of 4 fail in the last month. The only way to keep the window up is to shimmy them. This creates a huge safety risk in the event of an accident and also can impact the collision safety system
... including airbags. KIA is aware of this situation as outlined in their Technical Service Bulletin dated March 2021. I believe it's bulletin MC-10189544-0011. It appears that either the rear differential is locked up, or the traction control system has decided to lock all tires for the same rotation. When making any turns at slow speed, the tires grind and pop on the road. If turning in grass it will rip up the grass where the turn was made. In addition, the RPMs and vehicle lurch at normal cruising speed and when accelerating. I understand this as an
... issue with the torque converter. When the tires locked up, it put excessive force e on this component. It was stated in a similar TSB with the exact issue. There was a lack of fluid in the rear differential when it left the factory. Determination on repair was based on an inspection of the differential fluid and its levels. The cascade of failures happened after a road trip from FL to NY, I believe the miles were around 45,000. Upon arrival, NY roads were covered in snow for the next 5 months of travel, masking the severity of a locked drive train. No recalls were out, we thought maybe we needed tires. Now at 66k miles, there is a strain on the entire drive train and tires, whenever turning, accepting, I would further speculate, that this has put excessive wear on the CV/half shafts, wheel bearings, and related components. Although there’s a system failure, No codes have been thrown. Vehicle Speed Sensors and system, and or the ABS system should have noted some kind of error. While numerous complaints have arose accross varying ford models, no recalls issued. Ford may honor some repair costs. The location and nature of the initial failing unit, the rear differential, as its not part of routine maintenance, Would lead to an increase accross all related components and systems, which would lead to vehicle failure. Possibly causing loss of life or serous physical harm.Read more

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) modulator failed. This component is responsible for controlling the stability and traction of the vehicle. The faulty part is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?
... The failure of the VSA modulator compromised the vehicle’s ability to maintain stability during braking and cornering, especially in wet or slippery conditions. This increased the risk of losing control of the vehicle, potentially endangering myself, passengers, and others on the road. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue has been diagnosed and confirmed by a certified service center. They identified the VSA modulator as the faulty component requiring replacement. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by a certified service center, but not by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, warning lights related to the VSA and ABS systems appeared on the dashboard. These indicators first came on approximately 4 months ago when I was going through an automatic car wash, signaling a malfunction in the stability control system.Read more

During normal driving on Sat Sep 27 2025, unusual noises started to come from the front left wheel. There were no warning lamps or messages, and no indication of issues prior to onset of the noise. I had the vehicle towed to a Tesla Service Center the following day. Tesla's technicians found that the front lateral link bolt on the left hand side had backed out and fallen out of the subframe. They
... determined that the cause was related to improper torque specification or application of the original bolt. They reached this conclusion in part because the passenger side lateral link to subframe bolts were also under-torqued. Rear bolts were not affected. Tesla has replaced the front lateral links on both sides with new bolts. There was no vehicle accident or damage, so there has been no involvement or inspection by police or insurance. It is fortunate that this issue began when the vehicle was traveling at low speed, and that I chose to have the vehicle towed to the service center rather than driving it. The bolt has loosened when the noise started, and finally fell out at the service center. Had I been driving at highway speeds when the bolt fell out, I could have lost control of the car and injured myself and others. Online research suggests this is not an isolated incident for this model of car.Read more

I am a [XXX] male who has been driving for [XXX]. I am very familiar with cars. I recently experienced a situation which could be catastrophic for anyone, especially children. I was considering kicking out a window when my wife returned to the car and opened a door. She later went to the dealership and was told there is a special procedure one most follow to unlock the doors without the FOB being present and someone in the car. This is a ridiculous situation which could become tragic if a child was involved. The simple remedy would be to have the interior locking pin for each door extend far enough beyond the door panel so one can unlock the door in an emergency like they did in the "old" days.
