I've been bringing it to an independent mechanic for years and he always told me to wait until there's a recall as it's a faulty transmission however there has not been a recall for my car yet. The screen went blank and then, when it came back on, the image is flipped upside down and has vertical lines across the screen making it extremely difficult to see. This is EXTREMELY UNSAFE as we can back over and KILL someone if we don't go super slow and intensely observe the camera while in reverse. This is even more dangerous in poorly lit places. I made sure to double check with the dealer if the engine and hybrid battery were in good condition, in which the salesman reassured me everything is good. ... n the night of [XXX]. I was driving on the highway near the Getty going roughly 70 mph up the mountain roads while all of a sudden the "check hybrid system" warning came on in the car. The car immediately went into limp mode, and I did everything I could to slow the car to a complete stop, and stop on the freeway shoulder safely. It was a traumatizing experience to me, as this is a major safety issue with the vehicle, and other cars were travelling really fast in LA mountain areas. I had the car towed to a auto repair shop the next day, the mechanics did a deep inspection and informed me the hybrid inverter has failed. I paid $2,177 to replace the hybrid inverter with the mechanic. The mechanic also informed me while they were test driving they heard a knocking sound from the engine. I did a look up and found out there is a class settlement and safety campaigns on the engine for 2017 Optima Hybrid due to the faulty factory rod bearings, and the 150K miles extended warranty from Kia should apply to replace my faulty engine free of charge. I will be getting my car towed to Car Pros Kia in Huntington Beach on October 15th, 2025, and request the dealer to replace my engine per Kia's extended warranty. I am filing the complaint because the car is having problems after problems in barely 4 months of ownership, in which I believe I have purchased a lemon, or Huntington Beach Hyundai knowingly hid the facts the components were faulty. Our car is currently at the dealership again, (2nd time) for this particular issue that we feel is a safety issue. We are still experiencing an issue with the lift gate. It has also come down with my back to the car, with no motion under the sensor (no feet under the car to trigger the sensor). I do not have a video of it however I do have someone who witnessed it. We are not sure if this is related to the other electrical issues we are having. We've been experiencing issues with it being hard to start, the complete computer screen going blank (on video) or car changes randomly the temperature and shuts down the radio randomly. We were told yesterday that they were able to duplicate the issue and acknowledged that the gate came down "hard" not fast, but does not respond quickly when coming against opposing pressure. However, today we were contacted and told that Nissan wanted them to test other cars on the lot for the same issue, and now they are telling us that those cars respond the same way ours does, (very sensitive- she did not mention anything about them coming down hard.) However, the loaner car they gave us was also a 2025 Nissan Rouge and we have NOT had that issue with it. The hatch opens and closes without issue. The computer has not malfunctioned or completely went blank. It has not been hard to start, nor has the computer malfunctioned-shutting the radio off or changing the temperature information. It was recommended that maybe to "shut off" the lift gate and raise it by hand. However, we find it a little "rich" of the dealership to even "go there" as the car is 10 months old! January 14, 2025 – Brought the vehicle to the Easton Kia dealership. Diagnosed with a broken and leaking oil filter housing, which was replaced. Another oil change was completed. [XXX] – After the engine light came on, I checked the oil at 77,021 miles and found it to be low again. I added 1 quart of oil. The engine light was later determined to be due to a loose gas cap. Once again, no oil warning light appeared. [XXX] – At 78,000 miles, I checked the oil, as advised by Kia, to monitor consumption. The oil level was completely empty. The first incident occurred in 2021, when my vehicle was struck from the front by another driver who fled the scene. ... gage properly. The vehicle was repaired by an authorized Hyundai dealership, yet at no point was I informed that the vehicle’s safety systems might be compromised or that it should not be driven. The second and more severe incident occurred in December 2024, when my vehicle was rear-ended by a commercial truck and subsequently pushed into four other vehicles. Once again, neither the airbags deployed nor the seatbelt engaged, resulting in multiple bodily injuries for which I am still undergoing treatment. After reporting this second failure to Hyundai, I was informed that the airbags and seatbelts may not activate when the vehicle is struck from behind. However, this explanation does not address the fact that the same safety failures occurred in the 2021 front-end collision as well. I believe these repeated malfunctions indicate a serious defect in the vehicle’s safety restraint and airbag systems that poses an ongoing danger to drivers and passengers. I am requesting a full investigation into these safety system failures, including whether the dealership’s repair process or Hyundai’s design or manufacturing contributed to these malfunctions. Due to these failures, I have experienced significant physical injury, emotional trauma, and ongoing medical issues, and I am seeking appropriate accountability and resolution.Read more

On the morning of 1 Oct, I had left the house here in Cedartown GA to head to a meeting in Atlanta with a customer. I had started the truck 15 minutes before departing just as we have always done to our vehicles over the years to allow them to warm up properly. H, no traffic, acceleration or deceleration and the stability control system light came on, one second later the engine light came on and the engine all of a sudden started making a loud grinding and clunking noise. I was on the inside lane so let the car pass next to me and started to pull over onto the shoulder of the road. I immediately shut off the truck, popped the hood and got out to inspect what might have happened. There was no smoke, I checked all the fluids and all were at the normal ranges. The engine oil was at its full mark as well. The oil was just changed a month early and still of the same color as it was new. After checking, I got back on the truck, attempted to start and it ran for a few seconds then I immediately shut it off after hearing again the loud noise. A Polk county police officer stopped to check on me and offer assistance as well as some tow companies to call. Eventually after about at hour a tow truck showed, we tried to momentarily start the vehicle so it could be put in neutral but the engine had locked up. I’m glad I got off the road when I did, otherwise I feel I could have been driving and experienced that sudden lock up and loss of control which could have been a serious accident with log trucks up and down that highway all day long. This vehicle is my wife’s primary vehicle and always has been maintained to a T just like all of our GM vehicles have. My daughter just graduated and drives our passed down 2005 Tahoe with over 300k miles that we bought in 2006. This has never happened to us and I feel it is a serious safety issue on the 6.2Read more

There was no warning lights, symptoms (other than the prior occurrence of this issue). Vehiclr has been doing this since 4 montbs after purchase, then a recall came out we were told it would fix the problem. 3 times now since the recall the odometer screen and media screen will go blank while your driving. The car wont accelerate, turn signals, and steering colum becomes hard to operate properly. We have had to near accidents 1 being less than 2 hours in August of 2025 after Hyundai

We were driving on [XXX], screen went out, we lost full control of steering, had to wrestle with the wheel to keep car in its lane, we were almost hit by semi truck and ran off road. We immediately took car back to dealership, and shop assistant mgr was able to see for himself, it wasnt working after theu just made repair. They kept car a few days we were very reluctant to take vehicle back, out of these safety concerns, and my family having to ride in this vehicle. We took ot back as the dealership assured us the matter had been taken care. Then last week on [XXX], in the evening was driving down street and the screens started to flicker and the car wouldnt stay centeryed in the lane, then it happened both went blank, the car slowed down and the fight began on operating vehicle. In regards to no turn signal would go off, it wouldnt accelerate, the steering wouldnt operate correctly, if O wanted to center the car in the lane, it would pull the car another direction. A 7 minute ride home took over 20 minutes. We took car back to World Hyundai Matteson, the next morning and called Hyundai Corporate office to inform them we didnt want the vehicle back. Loss of motive power. During normal operation, the vehicle suddenly loses a drive power and prompts user to shift into park and push the break before ignition. To reset, I had to stop the vehicle, shift into park and restart. This behavior repeated 4-5 times in an 2 mile trip. The dangerously degraded performance described above was preceded by an OTA software update on 10/11/2025.
