... to operate normally. About 2 minutes later, there was a warning to stop vehicle and check power supply. After I pulled into a parking lot, I restarted the vehicle, but the errors persisted. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed as an ICCU failure. The vehicle was last charged ~15 hours before the failure on a level 2 charger at a peak rate of 6 kw. The vehicle was driven for about an hour after charging, sat overnight, before being driven when the failure occurred. The vehicle is primarily charged using level 1 and 2 charging, typically not exceeding 6.3 kw. Only a handful of times has level 2 charging rates exceeded 6.3 kw. The vehicle previously had the ICCU fail and replaced in 2023. The car is still at the dealership with no repair timeline.Read more

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee with only 30,000 miles. The car is mostly used to drive to and from work. Nothing crazy. The SVC 4WD light came on. I took it to a JEEP dealership. They said, “Transfer Case - Clutch Pressure Regulating Solenoid: C14A7-97 - PTU Motor-Component or System Operation Obstructed or Blocked, FOUND THAT THE TRANSFER CASE COLLAR SPLINES ARE GONE, WE NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSF

They want to charge $13,000 to fix it. How is this possible with a car that has only 30,000 miles, no accidents, and regular maintenance?Read more

Component/System Failed: The primary component failing is the Front Overhead Console Assembly (P-R-N-D manual gear selector/shifter and hazard light switch). The assembly detaches, rattles, and fails to remain securely affixed to the headliner. The defect has been present since delivery (Aug 2024, 208 miles). Safety Risk: The overhead console contains the crucial backup gear selector and the haza
... rd light button. Should the vehicle’s primary touchscreen fail (rendering the main gear selector unusable), reliance on this repeatedly detaching or faulty manual shifter compromises the driver's ability to safely operate the vehicle (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive) or activate emergency hazard lights. Problem Confirmation/Inspection: The failure is confirmed by the manufacturer (Tesla Service Centers). Tesla attempted to fix the overhead console defect at least four times. The defect was confirmed again on October 22, 2025 (11936 miles), where Tesla noted only a "slight adjustment... as a temporary fix" and stated a "Permanent fix will be performed on the upcoming visit". The vehicle and its components have been inspected repeatedly by Tesla technicians. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: The primary symptom is the physical rattling, looseness, and detachment of the overhead console/gear selector. The center console can come off at ant time that the windshield visor is detached from the console. This has happened to me several times while I was driving and it caused the cybertruck to shift out of gear and has changed the gear to neutral and park on different occasions. The first time this happened while I drove, I was driving down the street and the car came to a hault when the gear shift cover came loose. This could have caused a serious accident, but fortunately it didnt. This problem existed from the time of delivery & we had to make our 1st service apt on the day we took possession of the truck. This happened several times afterwards and tesla was unable to fix this in 7 attempRead more

In summer of 2023 my car 2011 Sonata Hybrid quit running and would not start. My granddaughter had used the car to go to Oklahoma City for a tennis tournament. Her life was at risk because she was coming back in the evening and was alone. The next day I had the car towed to Ada Oklahoma and then called dealership and had it towed to Ardmore, Oklahoma where I had purchased the car new in 2011.
... The car was at the dealership for 6 months. The vehicle was inspected at the dealership. There were no warning lights or symptoms of the failure prior to the breakdown. I am an 80 year old female that knows nothing about a car engine and they talked to me like I was a mechanic. I still do not know why my claim was denied but was told that I did not have a claim. I had to rent a car to get to work for several months and was out the money to have my car towed 2 times. Not to mention the strain of being without my car for 6-7 months. After the oil change, the contact stated there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine while driving at various speeds. The contact then stated that while at a stop light, the engine seized while depressing the accelerator pedal, with several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the crankshaft rod was defective. The dealer linked the failure to Hyundai recall 953; however, the contact was later informed that since the vehicle was not serviced for a prior knock sensor recall, the vehicle no longer qualified for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was provided a case number. The contact was later informed by the manufacturer that the vehicle would not be serviced under warranty. The contact stated that the recall was placed on the vehicle prior to owning the vehicle. The ABS module on my vehicle has failed. A factory replacement part is not available and according to Stellantis, it is on back-order. While driving at speed in heavy traffic, I quickly merged from the right lane to the left lane to avoid an obstacle. My vehicle and the new vehicle in front of me (in the left lane) were traveling at approximately the same speed, although there was an admittedly small (one half car length) distance between us. My forward collision assist inaccurately identified this new vehicle in front of me as a
... sudden danger that I was going to hit. It immediately applied full braking power and played the forward collision alert sound. This aggressive and unexpected stop spilled and broke items in my car as they slid, roughly strained me against my seat belt, and caused the vehicle behind me to aggressively brake. A rear end collision was narrowly avoided, only due to the fast reaction of the driver behind me. This aggressive and dangerous forward assist and emergency braking can only be temporarily disabled for one drive, and resets every time the vehicle is turned on. I have not had my vehicle inspected for this issue, but communities on the internet have confirmed that this is a common problem.Read more

I had a rock thrown at my vehicle's windshield and required a replacement. I went to a Subaru dealership, Zeigler Subaru of Kenosha, local to me for a replacement. I brought it once again to the dealer for a replacement and a better explanation as to what is going on. 1.5 months later, I took my car again and was good for a little over a month, when I noticed the same hairline crack, this time from the bottom. I am up to having three windshields being installed and have no confidence in the safety and longevity of the vehicle I have. Subaru has had engineers come out to evaluate my vehicle and determined that its structural construction is not compromised and have tried to diagnose another probable cause coming from the windshield wiper heater and unplugged it. The Check Engine light illuminated and diagnostic code P219A was recorded (Bank 1 Air/Fuel Ratio Imbalance), and the engine has a ticking noise. The dealership has indicated the issue likely involves the valvetrain/rocker arms/lifters and will require engine internal repair (valve cover removal, spark plug replacement, possible rocker arm replacement) estimated at ~$2,900-$4,500. The 3.6 L Pentas
... tar engine has been the subject of numerous owner complaints of ticking noise, power loss, misfire, and premature valvetrain failure. I understand there have been related Jeep Technical Service Bulletins (such as 09-002-14 and 09-008-18) addressing these types of failures. A class action lawsuit (Maugain et al. v. FCA US LLC) alleges defects in the 3.6L Pentastar engine’s valve train (rocker arms, lifters) and failure to disclose the defect. Maintenance History: Regular oil changes (every <6,000 miles) at approved service centers; no prior major engine internal repairs. Concern: The defect affects engine performance, may lead to catastrophic engine failure, and potentially reduces safe vehicle operation and control (power loss, hesitation). Relief Sought: I request the NHTSA open a vehicle safety defect investigation and compel FCA / Chrysler / Jeep to evaluate this condition under recall criteria.Read more

On October 3, 2023, I purchased a used 2018 Subaru Forester (VIN: [XXX] ) from Hengxin Auto Group, 210 39th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232, for about $19,500 including tax and fees. The dealer stated the mileage was 65,800 and printed that number on the contract. However, both the official NY DMV Title Record and the Carfax report showed 86,588 miles at the time of sale. This clear discrepancy proves the
... dealership intentionally rolled back or misrepresented the odometer reading. Later, the title was branded “mileage unknown.” After purchase, many severe issues appeared: chassis instability, transmission jerking, loud engine noise, high oil consumption, A/C malfunction, battery failure (replaced at my own cost), and worn tires that left me stranded. The dealer had advertised the vehicle as “excellent condition, only minor scratches,” which was completely false. I repeatedly contacted the dealer, but they only made partial chassis repairs and ignored all other problems. I paid significant repair expenses and eventually had to trade in the car on April 29, 2024, at Romano Toyota for $12,530.24, while still owing $13,705.58, resulting in a direct loss of about $9,283.78, not including additional repair and transportation costs. On October 2, 2025, I sent a formal demand letter to Hengxin Auto Group requesting compensation for odometer fraud and vehicle misrepresentation. The letter was received on October 9, but no response or resolution has been offered. The dealer’s conduct involves clear odometer fraud and nondisclosure of safety-related defects. I respectfully request NHTSA to investigate this case and take appropriate action to prevent similar consumer deception and safety risks. On August 8, 2025, while driving on the highway, the 2026 Model Y suddenly lost power and became unable to accelerate, creating an immediate safety hazard. The accelerator pedal was completely unresponsive even when fully pressed. The vehicle rapidly slowed from approximately 65 mph to around 44 mph and then to 22 mph while in the left lane of a two-lane highway, with a truck on the right and mult
... iple vehicles behind. This unexpected power loss made it extremely difficult to change lanes or maintain a safe speed with surrounding traffic, placing myself and others at serious risk of collision. Prior to the incident, warning messages appeared on the dashboard stating “Powertrain requires service” and “Speed limited to 74 mph.” A service appointment had already been scheduled through the manufacturer’s app, but the earliest available date was several days later. The issue was reported to Tesla Customer Support, and the vehicle was towed to the Tesla Palo Alto Service Center for inspection. The first repair (August 9–13, 2025) involved replacing the electric oil pump. However, the identical malfunction recurred immediately after pickup, and I returned the vehicle the same day. The Service Representative initially claimed the issue could be resolved by “resetting the message,” but I expressed that I felt unsafe driving the vehicle with the same unresolved defect. The vehicle was retained for further diagnosis. The second repair (August 13–28, 2025) replaced the rear drive inverter. Tesla issued nearly identical invoices for both repairs, causing confusion about what work was actually performed. Despite repeated requests, Tesla has not provided full diagnostic reports or documentation verifying the vehicle’s safety. This malfunction appears to involve a critical failure of the powertrain or propulsion system. The condition has been documented, and the vehicle remains available for further inspection upon request.Read more

Dear NHTSA: I am submitting this complaint because my vehicle, a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu (VIN [XXX] ), is included in Emission Recall N252516900 issued by General Motors concerning the Fuel Pump Power Control Module. Despite that inclusion, I have experienced the following: - A prior near-fatal incident in 2023 when the vehicle unexpectedly shut off while stopped at a red light (engine stall)
... due to the root defect. - The dealer has informed me I now need a new 12-V battery (just over one year old), a new AC compressor, and a new drive/serpentine belt. - The defect referenced in the recall (interruption of fuel flow) is reasonably the root cause of these consequential failures (battery stress, accessory drive stress). - I have been without the vehicle for 11 days, have not been provided adequate interim mobility support, and have not received timely resolution from GM under my Case #XXX (agent Jasmine who has followed her company's protocol while remaining helpful and empathetic; supervisor Stephanie called October 17, 2025). Requested relief: 1. That GM be required to pay for the recall work (module replacement) **and** reimburse/cover the consequential damage (battery, compressor, belt). 2. Interim remedy: loaner vehicle or rental reimbursement for days without vehicle. 3. Acknowledgment of the safety risk posed by the defect and record of the stall incident. When I brought the vehicle to Hardin Honda in Anaheim, the dealer ran a test and said the head gasket was fine at that time. However, the issues continued, an
... d eventually, the head gasket and turbocharger both failed. I can't spent about $4,000 in repairs, and I lost significant time without my vehicle, which affected my ability to work. Additional Details: Honda replaced my fuel pump twice. The first failure caused my engine to go into limp mode on the freeway, which was extremely dangerous and also damaged the turbocharger. Honda replaced the engine computer (ECU) only six months after I purchased the car. When I contacted Honda corporate, they admitted to being aware of this issue but said they would only offer reimbursement if a recall was issued in the future. Safety Concern: The sudden loss of power at highway speeds is a serious safety hazard. This issue appears to be widespread among owners of the 1.5L turbo engines, and many drivers are reporting similar head gasket and turbocharger failures. Requested Action: I am requesting a formal investigation into the 1.5L turbo engine design and related head gasket and turbocharger failures in 2018 Honda Accords. These problems pose a clear safety risk and result in high out-of-pocket repair costs for owners.Read more

Complaint Summary (What Happened): The cam phasers (variable camshaft timing system) failed on my 2017 Ford F-150 4x4 with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. This is a widely known issue on these engines. The failure causes a loud rattling/knocking sound during startup and can lead to engine timing problems or internal damage. My truck only has 108,000 miles, has been well maintained, and is just outside o
... f the extended warranty coverage Ford issued for this exact issue. Safety Risk: The cam phaser failure causes erratic engine timing, which can lead to power loss or stalling during operation. This creates a safety hazard while merging, towing, or driving at highway speeds. The loud knocking sound and hesitation also distract the driver and reduce confidence in the vehicle’s reliability and acceleration when needed for safety. Problem Confirmation: Yes, the problem was confirmed by a Ford dealership. They diagnosed cam phaser failure and quoted approximately $6,300 for the repair. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership service department. Ford Motor Company was contacted but declined to assist financially since the issue occurred just after the extended warranty expired. Warning Signs: No warning lights or messages appeared before the failure. The first symptom was a loud rattling/knocking noise on cold start, which worsened over time. The issue started around 85,000 miles. The check engine light just came on at 108,000 miles. Availability for Inspection: The failed components remain installed on the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. However, I am looking to get this fixed as soon as possible.Read more

I understand that there have been recalls for the brake booster in some 2020 Audi Q5s. I have had my brake booster light come on, but my VIN is not in the recall. My car has less than 50,000 miles on it and I should not be having this issue. I think my car should be recalled and this issue should be fixed by Audi. The cost to repair this issue is around $3000.

These vehicles are a hazard to the driver, passengers and others on the road. I have been experiencing regular failures of the brakes, which failed to stop the vehicle when and where intended. Always at speeds below 20mph, uneven pavement/surface, the vehicle experiences strong vibrations in the front, shakes violently and skids forward for a few yards uncontrollably. Brake pedal is unresponsive a
... nd must be slammed as hard as possible to have any effect on stopping the vehicle. I have been in near collision situations several times already, where I rolled onto the road with incoming traffic or almost rolled into the intersection. The vehicle is at the dealership for a month if not longer by now, for the third time and Hyundai corporate refuses to provide any solution. NHTSA and DOT MUST open a proper investigation into this. Hyundai refuses to solve it, has no solution and yet fails to recognize the defect and issue a recall or do anything about it. Fed government MUST step in ASAP.Read more

The vehicle lost powertrain upon accelaration. Merging onto a freeway and accelerating my vehicle was as if it was in Neutral. Same with starting out at a stop sign, coming to a turn lane and accerlerating to cross traffic, NO POWERTRAIN... just neutral. This issue was also reported by my mechanic when I brought it in as he test drove it. He contacted the local dealership and they inspected as
... well. Both came to the same conclusion as to what the issue was. The dealership mentioned having repaired over 30 vehicles with the same issue outside of warranty. This issue is very intermittent, which makes it even more dangerous and harder to diagnose until it starts to happen more often as my vehicle put on more miles. No warning lights or messages of failure. I was almost hit broadside at an intersection and nearly rearended on the interstate at 65 mph. My life was seriously in jeopardy as I panic stricken to get power entering the interstate with my vehicle basically in neutral. I had to pull over and shift to park and then to Drive again. According the local dealership and many forums, Jeep is aware of this issue and has had NO RECALL since the majority are out of warranty by the time they are diagnosed. I am beyond frustrated at the sheer danger this has. I am lucky I didn't get hit, someone else may not be. This should have been a recall before the warranty expired. I am now out thousands of dollars on repair and looking for resolution.Read more
