Last year I notice water in my tail lights. I removed the bolt to help drain the water. Part of my tail lights is now burned out. Now at 77,000+ my start/stop light came on, then the check engine. The person who changed

During multiple dealership visits in 2025, my 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T was repeatedly returned in unsafe condition. When I returned for a follow-up on October 29, 2025, for a documentation-only appointment due to an active corporate case, the dealer ignored my instructions and altered evidence by loosening and re-torquing the left axle nut without consent. They recorded the torque at 250 ft-lbs in the repair order but failed to capture the required photos or before/after readings and referenced the wrong vehicle’s torque specification (Hyundai Elantra) in the documentation. Since then, the vehicle has continued to show steering pull, vibration, and instability at speed. Several visits showed only 0–3 miles of verification driving after safety-critical repairs involving brakes, suspension, and driveline components. Aftermarket parts were installed when OEM parts were promised, and uneven tire wear developed quickly. Safety risks include wheel-bearing damage, steering loss, and driveline separation due to repeated improper torque and altered evidence. Independent Firestone and Honda technicians have verified these issues. The matter remains under active Hyundai Corporate Case #[XXX]. The rear power liftgate on our 2019 Honda Odyssey has repeatedly closed automatically while the vehicle is parked on a slope, including our driveway. This has occurred multiple times, and in one instance, the door struck me on the head. The issue seems to be gravity-related and may involve a malfunction in the tailgate spring or motor system. I reported this to the dealership, and they were unable
... to replicate the issue. However, I have video evidence and found that Honda issued Service Bulletin 22-018, which may be related. The dealership has not confirmed whether this bulletin applies to our vehicle. This is a serious safety concern, especially for families with children or elderly passengers. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this issue is widespread and whether a recall or further guidance is warranted.Read more

I have an ongoing safety concern on my vehicle, seemingly having to do with the brakes or ABS malfunction. There is a delay in the breaking of the vehicle occasionally in specific circumstances. Typically in a parking lot or stop sign, if there is a buckling of the road or potholes or uneven surfaces between the tires, the vehicle will skid over the surfaces and braking is delayed. Events have
... occurred 8 documented times and a few more during my ownership of the vehicle. Because this typically happens at a stop sign and the car has driven through the stop sign the issue could absolutely cause a multi exhale accident. Because this issue is surface specific, it is difficult to reproduce and the dealership is unable to find the root cause and fix the vehicle. During the two service visits, the dealer has tried to find the issue by doing a diagnostic scan and did a road test on each of the visits as well. In the four months that I’ve owned this vehicle and 10,000 miles that I have driven. This is happened less than a dozen times – most of the incidents are personally documented. No visible warning lights engage when the events have happened. I have contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and am working with them on a resolution of which neither party is sure of at this point. The “SVC 4WD” warning indicator illuminated on my dashboard. A diagnostic test performed at an authorized dealership confirmed a failure in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). The PTU and the vehicle are still installed and available for inspection upon request. The warning light appears intermittently—turning on for a period of time, then shutting off before returning. This issue presents a pot
... ential safety risk. The dealership explained that PTU failure can result in loss of power while driving or the vehicle failing to remain securely in Park, either of which could lead to loss of control or unintended vehicle movement, posing a risk to myself, passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership through diagnostic testing. No repairs have been completed at this time because, although this is a known issue affecting this year, make, and model, the PTU failure is not currently covered under a recall or warranty extension. I have also observed multiple reports of PTU failure in other vehicles of the same year, make, and model, suggesting a pattern of premature failure that may indicate a potential design or manufacturing defect. To date, the vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership and has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no other warning lamps or symptoms prior to the “SVC 4WD” indicator. The warning light first appeared on 11/3/2025, and the vehicle was brought in for diagnostic evaluation on 11/5/2025.Read more

POWER STEERING ISSUE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CONDITIONS: LANE CENTERING TURNED OFF. LANE DEPARTURE TURNED OFF. STRAIGHT LINE HWY DRIVING. OCCURS AFTER CONSTANT DRIVING OVER 60 MINUTES. MOST NOTICEABLE ABOVE 50 MPH ISSUE BEGAN AFTER ABOUT 15,000 MILES SYMPTOMS: WHEN VEHICLE DRIFTS SLIGHTLY OFF CENTER LINE RIGHT OR LEFT WITH ABOUT PLUS OR MINUS 5 DEGREES STEERING INPUT FROM STEERING CENTER POSITION.
... THE POWER STEERING BECOMES STICKY WITH RESISTANCE. IT FEELS LIKE POWER STEERING IS GRABBING HOLD THEN RELEASING. OCCASIONALLY SIMULATES A TOE-OUT ALIGNMENT CONDITION. EXAMPLE: VEHICLE DRIFTS SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT-OF-CENTER OR LEFT-OF-CENTER THEN DRIVER ATTEMPTS A VERY SLIGHT OPPOSITE CORRECTION INPUT, THE STEERING FEELS RESISTANT AS THOUGH IT IS STUCK IN POSITION THEN STEERING QUICKLY RELEASES HOLD CAUSING A SLIGHT STEERING JERK. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE UNEXPECTEDLY AND DANGEROUSLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO POTENTIALLY CROSS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR INTO ADJACENT LANE TRAFFIC. STEERING GOES FROM NORMAL RESISTANCE THEN STIFF THEN SUDDENLY TOO LOOSE. THEN REPEAT OVER AND OVER… CAUSING CONSTANT DANGEROUS SWERVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NOTE: THIS OCCURS EVEN WHEN ALL EYESIGHT AND LANE CENTERING/DEPARTURE IS OFF OR DISABLED.Read more

We lease this car from Volvo and are the first and only owners of the vehicle. No history of collision or accidents. The vehicle has a rear backup camera. The camera system also allows the option to select a 360-degree, top down "birds-eye" view of the entire vehicle. The backup camera turns on automatically when the car is shifted into reverse and originally provided a normal view directly behind
... the vehicle that extended at least a car length or more. At some point, we noticed that the rear backup camera view changed and was angled sharply down to the ground, including a partial view of our rear license plate and back bumper. The view now extends less than 7 feet behind the vehicle, angled down from the height of the camera (40-inches) so we can only see inches above the ground just a few feet behind the car. We can no longer see approaching vehicles, pedestrians, or any obstacles. The service technicians suggested this change in camera angle resulted from a routine system software update that was automatically downloaded to the vehicle. I don't know exactly when that occurred. On June 27, 2025 we received a safety recall notice from Volvo - Recall R10320 - warning us that the rear-view camera image may not show during the start of a backing event. We installed the recommended "Over the Air" software update, but that did not resolve our problem. I took the car to a local Volvo dealership on 9/26/25. They tried software upgrades and reboots, confirmed that the camera hardware was operating correctly, and told me that they could not fix it. They suggested I file a complaint with Volvo. I did that on 10/3/25. The only response to my claim was to "contact your dealer to make an appointment," which I told them I had already done. I have followed up twice since and Volvo has not responded further to this complaint ID #: 251002-000556. The incident date provided below is approximate. I don't recall when exactly the camera view changed.Read more

I find replacing the light bulbs for head lights and brake lights and flood lights more often than any other cars I have owned. The steering wheel makes a noise when turning left. And a noise is getting louder not sure what it’s related to.
Incident date: Dec 31, 1969
Leaking exhaust noise at start up began around 9/22/25. Noise became louder over the following week. Check engine light came on morning of 9/24/25. Immediately took it to local GM dealership for inspection. Dealership first said it was a cracked front exhaust pipe at the bracket and then they called back and said rear pipe at the bracket was broken also the whole system needed to be replaced becau
... se the brackets were not separate but welded directly to the pipe. The estimate was over $1300. Dealership then said the error coded was probably because of the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter and that they require replacement. I discovered there are already recalls and special coverage for the same issue on the 2019, 2021 and 2022 year models of this vehicle. I contacted GM and they acknowledged the problem in other model years before and after but said there isn't enough complaints for this model year. This is a known problem and design flaw. This needs to be addressed by GM immediately. NONE of the welds have held on any parts of the exhaust system or the catalytic converter.Read more

The HVAC climate control system in my 2025 Toyota Tundra Limited malfunctioned while the vehicle was idling. The air conditioning had been set to cool and was operating normally, but without any touch to the controls or any alert, the system switched from blowing cold air to blowing warm/hot air. This caused the cabin temperature to increase rapidly. Because there were no warning lights, notifica
... tions, or error messages, there was no indication that the air system had changed. The vehicle continued to show that A/C was on and functioning. The malfunction resulted in the cabin reaching a dangerously high temperature. This caused fatal heat injury to one animal and critical heat injury to another, both of which were inside the vehicle at the time. One is still undergoing medical treatment. This same type of HVAC issue has been reported by other 2024–2025 Toyota Tundra owners in multiple owner discussion groups, particularly related to the vehicle blowing warm air at idle or failing to maintain cabin temperature. This suggests a potential widespread defect, whether software-related or involving the A/C compressor control system. This presents a serious safety risk, especially for: Children Animals Disabled or elderly passengers Anyone unable to immediately exit the vehicle The vehicle remains in our possession and can be inspected. Service interactions with the Toyota dealership are documented and available. Immediate investigation is needed to determine the cause of this HVAC failure and whether a recall or TSB must be issued to prevent future injury or death.Read more

•Year/Make/Model: 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe •Mileage: ~91,502 •Date Purchased: April 2023 Description of Problem / Safety Concern: I am reporting a safety-related engine defect in my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle has developed engine knocking, metal shavings in the oil, and potential timing chain/bearing failure, all of which create a serious risk of engine failure while driving. The vehicl
... e was purchased at 50,855 miles and currently has 91,502 miles, demonstrating that these serious engine defects developed at relatively low mileage. I have attempted to have the issue addressed under Hyundai’s extended warranty, referencing the TXX8 Service Bulletin which provides specific instructions for inspecting, diagnosing, and submitting claims for this type of engine defect. Despite this, two Hyundai dealers have refused to inspect the vehicle or submit a warranty claim: •Hyundai of Trenton refused to inspect or submit any claim. •A second Hyundai dealer demanded nearly $2,000 in fees ($195 diagnostic, $550 additional, $1,200 bearing test) and then denied coverage citing “no codes,” even after acknowledging metal flakes in the oil filter and noisy valve train. I have also contacted Hyundai Corporate three times (two online complaints, one phone call), but the company continues to direct me back to the dealers without resolving the issue. Safety Risk: The ongoing engine defects jeopardize vehicle safety and could result in catastrophic engine failure while driving. Based on research and reports from other owners, these issues may affect other 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles with similar Theta II enginesRead more

during a regular drive the check stabiltrack system message popped up on the dash in the middle circle and then the little car with the squiggly lines behind it popped up and the check engine light came on and started blinking. 1. Component/System: One-pedal driving / regenerative braking (i-Pedal mode). Vehicle is available for inspecti On three separate occasions since leasing the vehicle in April, 2025, the vehicle failed to decelerate when i-Pedal mode was active and I fully released the accelerator pedal. Instead of slowing immediately as expected, the car continued maintaining speed for a few seconds before eventu
... ally reducing speed. In all instances, the accelerator pedal returned fully to its default position, and my foot was completely off the pedal. My foot was hovering over the brake and prepared to brake manually. This unexpected continued acceleration created a safety risk, particularly in situations where I anticipated immediate slowing. Safety Risk: This behavior increases the risk of rear-end collisions or reduced reaction time in traffic. It causes uncertainty in vehicle response and requires sudden manual braking when the system fails to operate correctly. Inspection/Reproduction: The dealership has inspected the vehicle and has denied existence of any issues. Warning Lamps/Messages: No warning lamps or messages appeared before or during the events. ⸻ 2. Component/System: Blind spot monitoring / driver assistance sensors Since acquiring the vehicle, the blind spot monitoring system routinely activates warnings when vehicles are more than one lane away, not in the adjacent lane. This results in frequent false warnings, especially on multi-lane highways. Safety Risk: The false alerts cause distraction and hesitation during lane changes. The system startles the driver and forces additional visual checks beyond normal safe driving practice, increasing cognitive load and reducing confidence in the system’s accuracy. Inspection/Reproduction: This behavior is frequent and occasionally reproducible. Warning Lamps/Messages: System behaves as if detecting vehicles in blind spot even when lanes are clear.Read more

I never had a clear screen, and at times it is so bad that I can’t see anything at all. In fact, I have already backed into the corner of a building in a parking lot due to lack of visibility. I can’t tell you the number o
... f times I’ve attempted to back out and almost hit a pedestrian or another car driving behind me that I couldn’t see well. It’s a good thing I use my mirrors and rear window, or that could have easily happened. I wonder if the work that was done on my rear hatch from a previous recall may have caused the seal protecting the camera unit to be compromised. There have been a number of recalls recently from other manufacturer’s, so I believe this is a common issue that should be addressed in my case as well.Read more
