Around 100,000 miles, my vehicle began experiencing intermittent hesitation, sudden loss of power, and frequent stalling. Prior to the complete failure, the vehicle would occasionally hesitate during acceleration and feel like it was losing engine power while driving. Over time, the problem became more frequent. One day, while driving approximately 50 mph on a side road, the vehicle suddenly stal
... led without warning and completely lost power. I was luckily able to avoid an accident, and no one was injured, but the sudden shutdown created a serious safety hazard and significantly increased the risk of being rear-ended by other vehicles. The vehicle continues to stall frequently and hesitate during operation, making it unsafe to drive. The failed component was confirmed by Nissan. The dealership diagnosed the issue and recommended replacement of the defective part for over $900. However, a Nissan mechanic explained that the repair only involved removing and replacing the common problem, which is the Mass air flow sensor, secured by two screws. I replaced the component myself for approximately $90, and the vehicle temporarily improved. Unfortunately, the stalling, hesitation, and loss of power have returned and now occur constantly. The failed component should still be available for inspection upon request. The issue was confirmed by Nissan personnel, although I completed the repair independently rather than paying the dealership repair cost. Prior to the failure, the vehicle showed symptoms including hesitation, intermittent power loss, and stalling beginning around 100,000 miles. These symptoms worsened over time until the vehicle completely shut down while driving. This appears to be a common issue affecting Nissan vehicles and creates a serious safety concern due to the risk of sudden engine shutdown while driving.Read more

I have a 2018 Honda CRV with 52,000 miles. It has a steering problem. The vehicle has to be hot, or be driven for 1 plus hours for the problem to appear. In a few words the problem can be described as: intermittent steering binding sticky steering steering hesitation near center sudden release necessitating overcorrection in opposite direction safely hazard during highway driving I don't know s
... pecifically what the problem is but Chat GPT offers these comments: EPS gearbox, worm gear, steering torque sensor, or intermediate shaft malfunction. I have to assume that the problem that plagues my vehicle is related to the known CRV steering rack or EPS issues tied to the newer model recalls. I have not asked a Honda dealer to diagnosis the issue and provide an estimate for repair, but plan to shortly. Otherwise, this vehicle is in excellent condition, has had proper maintenance and care. I have called a local Honda dealer to inquire about a recall and was told there is no recall on this issue for my car year. There is however a recall for steering issues on 2023, 24, 25 year cars. I own a 2021 Toyota Highlander with approximately 100,500 miles. The vehicle has developed a noticeable whining noise coming from the transmission/drivetrain area that continues to worsen over time. The noise is most noticeable during acceleration and while driving at highway speeds. I brought the vehicle to Toyota for inspection and was informed that the issue is related to the transmission. How
... ever, Toyota denied repair assistance because the vehicle is outside the powertrain warranty period. After researching the issue, I discovered multiple similar complaints involving 2021 Toyota Highlanders equipped with the UA80 transmission, including Toyota Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0008-21 regarding “Whine or Grind Noise From the Transmission.” The symptoms described in the bulletin closely match the symptoms my vehicle is experiencing. Toyota appears aware of this transmission-related issue, yet many owners outside the warranty period are being denied coverage despite similar failures and complaints. I am concerned this may represent a broader transmission defect that could lead to premature transmission failure, unsafe driving conditions, hesitation, loss of power, or expensive repairs for consumers. I believe this issue should be investigated further by NHTSA due to the growing number of similar complaints involving whining transmission noises and transmission failures in Toyota Highlander vehicles. At this time, the vehicle has not yet experienced a complete transmission failure, but the condition is worsening and raises significant concerns regarding reliability and safety.Read more

On 2 separate occasions, under similar circumstances, the collision warning systems, both front and rear, applied the brakes for no reason. When reversing slowly (foot slowly off brake pedal) from a parking space on an almost empty rooftop parking lot; I confirmed there was no foot traffic or moving vehicles before I started to back up. The brakes automatically applied (no screen display); I reapp
... lied the brake and was then able to reverse normally. On a normal service visit to my dealership, I mentioned the incident and it was noted on my invoice. About 3 weeks later, at a full stop at a stop sign, I was about to turn left onto another road. After confirming there was no cross traffic of any kind, and before I had completely released the brake, the collision assist engaged and suddenly applied the brakes (again with no screen display but an audible thump). Again, I was able to reapply the brake and then accelerate to make the turn. Since the same event had happened twice, I went directly to my local Hyundai Service Center and reported it. They kept the vehicle for a week and tested it thoroughly. Nothing showed as being faulty. When I picked up my vehicle on 5/22/26, they informed me that there's a known issue (NHTSA Campaign # 26V316) with other Hyundai models (not the Palisade) and that an update for the forward collision avoidance system in those models will be coming mid-summer. As the Palisade is not included in the Campaign list of makes/models, but has the exact same event/problem, I wanted to report this for inclusion in the safety recall. I was not injured in either event but anyone with this issue could potentially be at risk in the future.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious and dangerous brake failure involving my 2020 GMC Terrain SLT with approximately 150,000 miles. While driving, the vehicle suddenly experienced a vacuum pump failure that caused a severe loss of braking ability with no warning beforehand. The brake pedal became extremely hard, and the vehicle would barely stop. This created a very dangerous situa
... tion and could have easily resulted in a serious accident. Thankfully, I was not driving at a high speed when the failure occurred, and there were no vehicles directly in front of me at the time. However, only minutes earlier I had been traveling approximately 65–70 mph on the highway. If this brake failure had occurred while driving at highway speeds or in heavy traffic, I truly believe it could have caused a major crash resulting in serious injury or death. What concerns me most is that there was no warning before the brakes failed. No warning lights and no issues with my brakes. The sudden loss of braking power was extremely frightening and created an immediate safety hazard. After researching this issue, I discovered that other GMC and GM vehicle owners have reported similar vacuum pump failures and brake assist problems. I believe this is a significant safety issue that should be investigated further. Drivers should not experience sudden brake failure without warning, especially on a vehicle that otherwise appeared to be operating normally beforehand. I am very thankful no one was injured in my situation, but I am concerned that another driver may not be as fortunate. My vehicle had to be towed to a nearby shop and they suspected it was the vacuum pump failure and the car started smoking badly. so I had it towed to the GMC dealership and they called me today to confirm that was the problem and it also caused damage to the camshaft. This is a known issue with the terrain and there is currently a class action lawsuit.Read more

Approximately in March 2026, I started noticing a very strong gasoline odor coming from my 2004 Mercedes-Benz E 500 4-matic with original miles approximately 56,300. The fuel odor always got stronger whenever I would fill up the gas tank. The history on my car is such that it has always been garage kept. The gasoline odor coming from my car started getting stronger and stronger while in my garage.
... On Memorial Day 2026 I called HQ, Mercedes Benz and told them about the gas odor coming from my car. After the call ended I decided that the car needed to be towed to the nearest Mercedes Benz service center. I considered that the gas order to be very dangerous so I parked my car in the driveway. Once parked in my driveway, there was no longer a gasoline order in my garage. Now even while parked in my driveway, I could smell gasoline around the rear of my car when I opened the doors the gasoline smell was very strong. All of this happens suddenly and only grew worse within the last four days. The gasoline smell was probably there for a long time but I didn’t notice it since I do not drive the car very often. That should be obvious because there is only approximately 56,300 miles on the car and those are original miles. I called Mercedes-Benz headquarters and requested a tow to the nearest Mercedes-Benz repair shop which is in Tampa Florida. As my car was being placed on the flatbed tow truck gasoline started spilling out onto the bed of the tow truck. That is a very dangerous situation. My car could’ve caught fire if it hit something hard or if I had been in an accident. I read where there is a 15 year extended warranty from year the analysis was actually completed in 2012 by the ODI NHTSA. I believe my car falls under the purview of the extended warranty. I’m reporting this problem because it is very dangerous and there could be other vehicles out there.Read more

My wife has felt for quite some time that the traction on our 2022 Acura MDX is lacking. She first attributed it to tires, but after replacing them in November of 2024 she said that the issue was still present. She mentioned it to the Service Advisor at Bloomington Acura but we don't recall the exact timing of that and don't have a record of it. In February of 2026, while driving in snowy conditi
... ons we arrived at a vacation property. In driving up the driveway, the MDX got stuck. We got out of the car to try to push it and noticed that the rear wheels weren't rotating (I would expect them to on an AWD vehicle when the front wheels spin). We were able to put wood pieces under the front tires and get the vehicle up the driveway. We reported it to the dealer, who told us that if there were no warning lights there was no issue. We asked if they could test it because AWD wasn't working. We didn't get far but asked during a recent oil change if they could test the AWD. We had to push for that but they did test. They indicated that the rear drive rotated freely, indicating that "splines" between the transmission and transfer case had failed and it would cost $14,000 to repair (our MDX is now beyond the mileage threshold of the power train warranty. I then researched and learned that this issue is under NHTSA investigation DP26001. Customers don't have a reasonable way to know that AWD isn't working; we have brought it up previously with no way of "proving" that it isn't working (no warning lights). We believe that Acura should extend the power train warranty and repair our vehicle. The dealer let us know that they have another customer with the same issue right now. I don't believe that dealers file reports to NHTSA and imagine this issue is bigger than the number of complaints filed. AWD isn't needed by many, but it affects our safety in snowy conditions.Read more

While driving my 2020 Cadillac CT5 at highway speeds, the vehicle suffered a sudden and dangerous total loss of motive power. The transmission completely failed without warning, creating an immediate, severe safety hazard as I was forced to navigate across multiple active lanes of high-speed highway traffic without acceleration. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Cadillac dealership. The techni
... cian's diagnostic inspection confirmed that the internal transmission pump drive gear completely shattered, sending catastrophic metal debris throughout the entire transmission system. The dealership has recommended a total transmission system replacement. This internal pump gear failure is a documented cascade consequence of a manufacturing defect in the Transmission Control Valve Body, which causes severe internal fluid pressure drops. This specific transmission defect is subject to GM Special Coverage Bulletin N242480631 and NHTSA Campaign Number 25V148 / GM Recall N242480630. The defective valve body starved the transmission of pressure, directly destroying the pump gear at highway speeds and putting my life in danger.Read more
