While the van is at a complete stop at the intersection it shuts off and behaves as if it needs to be restarted. A message appears instructing me to press the brake and push the start button to start the van. I took it to Honda, but they were unable to find the issue. They replaced the battery to see if that would fix the problem, but about a month later, it happened again.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a catastrophic CVT transmission failure in my 2019 Honda HR-V at approximately 97,500 miles. In May 2026, while driving in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, my vehicle suddenly experienced a complete loss of propulsion. Multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard simultaneously. Although the engine would rev and the vehicle could be shifted into gear
... , it would not move properly and became unsafe to operate. The vehicle left me stranded away from home and required towing. I incurred significant expenses for towing, diagnostic fees, transportation, lodging, and related costs due to the breakdown. After diagnosis, I was informed that the CVT transmission had failed and required replacement at an estimated cost of approximately $10,000. I later learned that Honda had issued Service Bulletins 21-046 and 21-047 concerning CVT belt deterioration and transmission issues in 2016-2020 Honda HR-V vehicles. These bulletins acknowledge that an incorrect PCM value could cause excessive pressure on the CVT belt, potentially leading to partial or complete belt breakage and sudden loss of acceleration. Honda also extended warranty coverage on affected vehicles due to premature CVT belt deterioration. My vehicle falls within the affected model years and experienced symptoms consistent with those described in Honda’s service information. Despite this, Honda denied my request for goodwill assistance, even though the failure occurred at relatively low mileage for a modern transmission and only shortly after the warranty extension period expired. I am concerned that this transmission defect creates a safety risk because it can result in sudden loss of acceleration or vehicle propulsion while driving, potentially placing drivers and passengers in dangerous situations. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate the CVT transmission failures affecting Honda HR-V vehicles and determine whether additional action is warranted.Read more

I have owned a handful of Honda's and never had an issue with them. I own a 2018 Honda Accord Sport and when driving it all the lights on the dashboard lit up. The car left like it was stalling and wouldnt go past 2nd gear. I was almost rear ended by a car and had my 2 granddaughters ages [XXX] and [XXX] in the back seat. I took it to Honda dealership and they said the turbocharger needed replac

I am filing this complaint regarding Honda's reimbursement program associated with the piston ring warranty extension related to engine misfire issues on certain vehicles. Prior to Honda issuing the warranty extension, I paid out of pocket to have the repair completed at an authorized Honda dealership. After Honda announced the warranty extension and reimbursement program, I submitted a reimburse
... ment claim along with all required documentation and proof of payment in August 2025. My reimbursement claim has now been pending for approximately 11 months. Since submitting the claim, I have contacted Honda numerous times seeking an update. On multiple occasions, Honda representatives advised me that the reimbursement had been approved and was simply awaiting issuance of payment. However, no reimbursement has been received. Due to the lack of progress and conflicting information, I filed a complaint with my state's Attorney General's Office. In response to that complaint, Honda stated that the reimbursement claim was still under review, which directly contradicts what I had previously been told by Honda representatives. I have complied with all documentation requirements and have made repeated attempts to obtain a clear answer regarding the status of my claim. Despite this, I have not received reimbursement, a definitive status update, or a reasonable explanation for why a reimbursement claim related to a known warranty extension issue has remained unresolved for nearly a year. I am requesting review of this matter and whether Honda is properly administering and processing reimbursement claims associated with this warranty extension program within a reasonable timeframe.Read more

• The wipers do not distribute washer fluid at all to the passenger side of the windshield. The design of washer fluid distribution is terrible and this is obviously quite dangerous. • All vehicle occupants, and others outside the vehicle are at risk due to poor visibility that can occur when dirt/salt accumulate on the windshield and can't be wiped away properly and the driver cannot see cl
... early on 1/2 the windshield. • Yes. This is a known issue and just "By Design" • Many other CR-V (6th Generation) owners experience the same issue. Honda won't fix it. • No warning lights appear. This is a massive design flaw. Lastly: I have not seen an improvement of the design of the washer fluid distribution in subsequent models which leads me to believe that Honda may not properly address this issue until the next generation of CR-Vs. That said, many of us customers have been discussing how to solve this with aftermarket wiper fluid sprays since Honda is not fixing it for us.Read more

While operating my vehicle on a public roadway, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of transmission hydraulic pressure and vehicle propulsion, accompanied by a dashboard warning light with a blinking "D". The vehicle completely stopped delivering power to the drive wheels while moving with traffic, creating an immediate and severe safety hazard for a rear-end collision on an active ro
... ad. We pulled into the high school parking lot, stopped the car, then restarted it. It had the error on the dashboard, but we were able to get it safely home, where it was towed to the dealership later. The vehicle was towed to Dick Hannah Honda (the local authorized dealership). The service department scanned the onboard computer (from the parking lot, NO actual physical inspection done) and pulled internal transmission fault codes P0730 (Incorrect Gear Ratio) and P0746 (Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Performance/Stuck Off). Based solely on these electronic fault codes, the dealership stated that the internal mechanics of the ZF 9-speed transmission had completely failed. They stated the transmission is completely unrepairable and quoted a full replacement cost of $11,984.41. Prior to this failure, the vehicle had service documentation and inspection records from authorized Honda franchise technicians, who repeatedly marked the transmission condition and vehicle health check sheets as completely healthy and "GREEN" at every visit for 60,000 miles by American Honda Motor Co. Case Management was contacted (Case #16371194), but they refused any financial goodwill assistance. This sudden operational failure of the ZF 9-speed transmission platform without ANY prior Maintenance Minders given by the computer system. This failure matches the exact software calibration and pressure defects currently cited in ongoing consumer protection litigation involving the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot 9-speed drivetrain.Read more
