While driving my vehicle (2019 Ford F150), it suddenly came to a complete stop. The engine shut off and the steering wheel locked up. While in the middle of a roadway, I had to quickly throw my vehicle into park, turn it off and back on. At that point, it was running again and I was able to safely get it to a dealership where it was inspected for an issues. There were no warnings, alerts or messag
... es on my dashboard. The dealership confirmed what had happened. It was due to the electronic steering system failing. They fixed it and so far there has been no issues. This is not the first time I have heard of this happening and after researching, it appears it is more common than not. I believe, because of the risk of this vehicle unexpectedly and suddenly stopping on any roadway, a recall should occur. I could not imagine what would happen if one of my loved ones had been driving and a serious crash occurred.Read more

My vehicle, a 2022 Cadillac Escalade with a 6.2L L87 engine, had the L87 recall completed withing the past year. The remedy was that it passed the inspection and engine oil was replaced with 10W-40 weight oil. Just yesterday 6/25/26, my engine quit working while driving on Interstate 265 in Louisville, Ky. Luckily, I was able to coast to the side of the highway where I stopped and was unable to

The vehicle constantly and increasingly exhibits the symptoms described in RECALL CAMPAIGN 13V-044: REPAIR BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE, dated XXX , i.e., various electrical malfunctions, including flickering of the instrument cluster, and brief loss of engine power. However, VIN [XXX] is NOT included in this campaign. It appears that the next possibility, even though deemed "extremely isolated" by the
... recall, is that "the engine may shut off while driving, which leads to a loss of power steering assistance." BMW and NHTSA each state that the other is responsible for including VINs in a recall, yet I am the one at risk of crash. Do I need to seek legal action against both BMW and NHTSA to determine who is responsible for adding the VIN to the recall so BMW can eventually reimburse me for the needed repairs? I was driving when the dashboard lights all turned on and started getting warning messages too. The gas pedal wasn't giving anymore and the car would not accelerate. Luckily I was able to roll into a parking lot where we waited almost 2 hours for a tow. The car fortunately was still running so we had the a/c on while waiting (important for later.) Had it taken to a collision center thinking a squi

No sir it didn't turn off after stalling on me for 2 hours which hello... battery! So he said he would check it again after I informed him I don't feel safe in it. Well next day I get told its the transmission with no warranty because it's just over 60,000 miles. Ridiculous! Oh and no mention of the battery now...Read more

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was an abnormal odor coming from the inside of the vehicle. While the vehicle was being serviced, the dealer discovered that the inner padding on the front passenger side, the rear passenger side, and the rear driver side was soaked with water, and due to the water accumulation, there was mold formin

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.Read more

My 2022 Honda Accord Sport screen / navigation is malfunctioning / failing and it is available for inspection. My car is currently in the dealership shop and they are saying because it in outside 3 years, it will cost over $1000 to fix for A SAFETY ISSUE that can't be worked around besides turning off the whole system. There were no problems with the car or the screen prior to this randomly starting to happen about a week ago on a hot summer's day. The rear coil spring (driver side) on my 2020 Honda Odyssey failed and broke while I was driving approximately 45 mph on a city street on XXX in [XXX]. The component that failed is the rear suspension coil spring. I do not have the broken spring in my possession, as it was replaced by the dealer. Due to the coil spring failure, the rear shock absorber on the driver side was also damaged and requir
... es replacement. This sudden failure caused the rear of the vehicle to drop/sag on the driver side, which affected vehicle stability and handling. It put my safety and the safety of other road users at risk due to a loud noise and an abrupt change in ride height. This made the vehicle pull and feel unstable. I was able to maintain control and safely pull over, but the incident was alarming and could have led to loss of control or a crash under different conditions (e.g., higher speed or heavier traffic). A few days prior to the failure (approximately XXX), I noticed a weird/unusual sound from the rear of the vehicle. At the time, I did not associate it with a suspension issue, and there were no warning lamps, messages, or other clear symptoms. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle and component were inspected by a Honda dealer on XXX. The dealer confirmed that the driver-side rear coil spring had broken near the bottom and replaced it. They also noted that the rear shock absorber was damaged as a result and needs to be replaced. No other inspections (manufacturer representative, police, or insurance) have occurred at this time. This appears to be a sudden mechanical failure of the rear coil spring with no apparent external cause (e.g., no prior impact, accident, or road debris). Back in December 2025 my engine light had come on, upon bringing it to the dealership I had found out that the engine oil and the coolant were mixing. I was told that they botched the repair at the
... previous dealer. Now, three months later from then my engine light is back on again and the same thing is happening. but since neither truly actually repaired the issue now, I’m being told that there’s an issue with my engine. From the beginning when I first brought it to the dealership, this was not an issue. I was actually told that the engine was not misfiring at all, and the engine appeared to be good.My car was not the only one there for this issue so clearly this is a known issue. I also began looking online and realized that there are a lot of people that have this issue so I did bring it to Alfa Romeo‘s attention I feel like at this point the dealerships are making it worse because they’re not fixing the actual issue. I’m also being told this time around that, it was only a temporary fix which I was never told the first two times that they fixed it. No vehicle with 50,000 miles should be having these types of issues. I feel like there is a bigger issue that needs to be addressed within the manufacturer.Read more

This complaint is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 regarding the same unresolved safety defect. Since those complaints were filed, the vehicle has now been involved in a SECOND defect-related crash. I repeatedly begged Genesis not to return this vehicle to me because I believed it was unsafe to drive. They refused to state the vehicle was safe or unsafe. No risk to them.Gen
... esis scheduled a fourth repair attempt, took possession of the vehicle, but did not repair or even diagnose the steering and braking defects before returning it to me. Despite my repeated warnings that someone could be seriously injured or killed, I was forced to continue driving a vehicle that was unsafe. On June 24, 2026, while traveling approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly veered right. The steering became unresponsive, and the brakes behaved abnormally, causing me to leave the roadway and fly into a ditch. I struck my head, and this crash closely mirrored the first defect-related crash on March 29, 2026. This occurred after four repair opportunities and after Genesis had actual knowledge of the repeated steering and braking failures. The defects remained unresolved when the vehicle was returned to me. NHTSA states that “vehicle safety is the top priority” and encourages consumers to report defects that create “an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.” I believe this vehicle presents exactly that type of ongoing safety risk. Two crashes involving the same unresolved steering and braking defects should warrant immediate review. I am also undergoing cancer treatment and have recently developed heart palpitations. The stress of repeatedly being placed in a vehicle I warned was unsafe is unacceptable. My life, my passengers’ lives, and the safety of the public are at risk. Please associate this complaint with NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 and investigate these recurring steering and braking failures before someone is seriously injured or killed.Read more

Incident Description: On [XXX], I took delivery of a brand-new 2026 Harley-Davidson road glide from a certified franchise dealership. Within 15 to 20 minutes of departing the dealership, under normal riding conditions on a well-maintained roadway, the motorcycle suffered a sudden, catastrophic mechanical failure. I observed a large cloud of white smoke trailing heavily from the motorcycle. I immed
... iately pulled over to the shoulder and shut the engine down. Upon inspection, the entire right side of the motorcycle was saturated in motor oil. The oil was actively ejecting from the air cleaner housing and rapidly accumulating on the ground in a large puddle. Safety Hazard & Impact: The volume of motor oil ejected from the air cleaner assembly created an immediate, severe traction hazard. Because the air cleaner is situated on the right side of the motorcycle directly upwind of the rear tire path, the atomized and pooling oil thoroughly saturated the right side of the chassis. Continued operation would have inevitably coated the contact patch of the rear tire, introducing an incredibly high probability of an unrecoverable rear-wheel slide (low-side crash), leading to catastrophic vehicle damage and severe bodily injury or death. Resolution & Dealer Action: The motorcycle was recovered by the dealership. Due to the immediate mechanical safety failure and discrepancies with delivery mileage, I demanded the bill of sale be rescinded and my financial assets/trade-in vehicle returned. The dealership reluctantly complied and unwound the deal, but they completely refused to provide a mechanical explanation or diagnostic report for why a brand-new vehicle suffered this severe oil-expulsion failure. Our 3 yrs old + Toyota RAV4 Hybrid SUV with barely over 30,000 miles on it had 2 safety issues within 2 months of each other! First was the driver's side mirror- it was rattling, feeling like it might fall off! Seems common issue, perhaps due to cheap plastic parts inside. We had it fixed- Toyota Brand Engagement Center gave a 'Goodwill' gesture to cover us replacing it at Dealership, though it sh
... ould never have happened on such a newer vehicle in the first place! Then not even 2 months later, a Warning flashed- "Pre Collision System Malfunction!" Also "Headlights" with same warning- "SEE DEALER NOW!" Toyota Dealer. They said Forward Recognition Camera had 'INTERNAL MALFUNCTION' and needed to be replaced. It was going to be quite expensive, but the camera part is not even available in foreseeable future as there's back order for hundreds and they're still in production! It seems this too is a common safety problem~ We can't understand why there's not a RECALL on this. Toyota took no responsibility for this issue, which is APPALLING as, like the first 'side driver's side mirror failure' was also a safety issue! The whole reason we bought this vehicle was for its safety features! Without the front facing camera that comes with the car in same compartment as rear view mirror resides, we now have NO Pre-Collision Warnings, NO Headlight safety feature, NO RSA (Road Sign Assist System). It's infuriating that Toyota, who obviously is making inferior safety products, does not offer to help out in any way. We're both [XXX] and entitled to these safety features as we bought the car both new and paid top dollar! Our service advisor at the Toyota Dealership agrees this is 'not normal', the car is too young to have this happen! He will attest to this & we have paperwork. It stated 'No immediate remedy'. (replacement camera not available) I believe this is happening to hundreds of other RAV4 owners. It's outrageous! Please help! These electronics for safety should not fail! The front exhaust pipe on my 2022 Subaru Ascent cracked at approximately 77,800 miles. The component is available for inspection. Prior to diagnosis, I noticed a rattle/fluttering noise coming from the undercarriage during acceleration. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Subaru dealership. Subaru has issued TSB 09-106-23 acknowledging this is a known design defect affecting 2019-2023 Ascen
... ts, and has redesigned the part to correct the issue. Despite being within the 8 year/80,000 mile federal emissions warranty period, the dealership denied warranty coverage, claiming coverage only applies in California and Maryland. This is incorrect - the federal emissions warranty applies nationwide. The dealership quoted over $1,000 out of pocket for a known manufacturing defect on a 4 year old vehicle. The cracked exhaust pipe poses a safety risk as exhaust fumes can enter the vehicle cabin. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate whether Subaru is improperly denying federal emissions warranty claims on affected vehicles outside of California and Maryland.Read more

I was stuck in the middle of the high way. It does not drive. The Etorque/generator is bad and is now on order from my local Dodge dealership. It literally shut down my truck and will not start, run, nothing.
... It’s been in the shop for 40 days with a no ETA on the part ordered. This should definitely be a safety recall as it just stalled me on the highway. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I was driving my 2024 Jeep Gladiator Willys Texas Edition on the FM 3180 and I 10 when the vehicle experienced a complete electrical failure without warning. The instrument panel began flashing, the vehicle lost power and became completely inoperative while I was traveling. I was able to get the vehicle off the roadway, but it would not restart. At first it would start and flash, windshield wiper
... s were on, even though control was off. It would go about 10 feet and die again for several minutes. I eventually got it off the road and into a parking lot where it beeped and clicked, but would not turn on. The vehicle had no electrical power. A roadside jump box had no effect. The tow operator had to manually override the transmission to place the vehicle in neutral so it could be loaded onto the tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and remains inoperable. This vehicle previously received a software repair/recall/update in 2025. I do not yet know whether this failure is related to that recall. This was a serious safety event because the vehicle completely shut down while traveling on a high traffic area. I believe this defect could create a significant risk of a crash if it occurs at a high rate of speed. I had no control of the vehicle at times.Read more

Once again I am having to replace a bulb for my vehicle. This will be the second time in 3 months I have had to replace my rear blinker bulb. Not including the 4-5 times per year I have to replace headlight bulbs. This time the wiring has melted and the bulb has nearly melted the lens cover. I only buy the exact OEM recommended bulb every time. Nothing fancy. Just the basic old school bulbs. Every

My Nissan Leaf was affected in the NHTSA Recall 24V-700. We took it into the Valley Nissan of Longmont, where we initially purchased the car, on 6/19/2026. The dealership checked it out and told us it was fine, so we took the car home that day. We drove it around on 6/20/2026 and received an urgent EV service warning. The car went into turtle mode while we were driving on the highway. We called th
... e dealer, and they said it was the code that indicated our battery was actually degraded. So, they gave us back a car that was unsafe to drive. They weren't able to look at it again til 6/22/2026, but they refused to provide us with a rental or loaner car for the weekend, despite this being our only car, and the recall specifically having a stop-drive order on affected vehicles. On 6/22/2026, we took the car in again, and they confirmed the battery was actually degraded due to the recall. Again, they refused to get us a rental or loaner car. Since Monday, the car has been sitting at the dealer, and as of 6/25/2026, we still have no information about when we will get the car back, if we can get a battery replacement, or what our options are. They have provided us with no information and no alternative vehicle, despite our car being undriveable. They said we could rent a car but refused to confirm if this would be reimbursed as part of the recall. We called Nissan Customer Affairs, and they have also been unhelpful and not provided any further information on a battery replacement or loaner vehicle. We have been calling multiple times this week to no avail. We want to have the battery fixed, but we have heard from other Leaf owners that this can take many months, and this was our only vehicle. We would not be able to have the battery replaced at no cost to us without a provided loaner vehicle. Since this comes as a result of a stop drive order recall, I think that should be provided from Nissan through direct payment rather than reimbursement.Read more

While driving my 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid AWD at highway speed with only 16,755 miles on the vehicle, multiple warning messages suddenly appeared, including warnings related to the engine, hybrid system, AWD system, and other vehicle functions. The vehicle instructed me to pull over immediately and significantly reduced power output, making it difficult to maintain highway speed and saf
... ely maneuver through traffic. I was able to reach the shoulder and had the vehicle towed to a Toyota dealership. The dealer diagnosed a punctured radiator caused by a rock or similar road debris that allegedly passed through the front grille and struck the radiator. The dealer confirmed that coolant loss from the puncture triggered the vehicle's protective reduced-power mode. This failure created a significant safety risk. A sudden loss of power while traveling at highway speed increases the risk of rear-end collisions and other accidents, particularly in heavy traffic where drivers may not expect a vehicle to rapidly decelerate. There were no warning lights, messages, leaks, drivability concerns, or other symptoms before the incident. All warnings appeared suddenly at the time of failure. Toyota has declined warranty coverage, classifying the damage as a road hazard. However, I believe this may indicate a design defect. I have identified numerous reports from other GH owners describing nearly identical failures involving rocks penetrating the radiator through the front grille, often at relatively low mileage. These reports suggest the radiator may be inadequately protected from ordinary roadway debris. My concern is not simply radiator damage, but that a small piece of road debris encountered during normal driving can disable a critical component and cause the vehicle to enter a severe reduced-power mode at highway speed. I request that NHTSA investigate whether the front grille and radiator protection design of the Grand Highlander creates an unreasonable safety riskRead more

The vehicle experienced a failure in the braking system involving the brake booster/brake actuator assembly. The vehicle displayed diagnostic trouble code C1391, which is associated with a malfunction of the brake booster pump/accumulator system on this model. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. The failure created a safety concern because the braking system warning lig
... hts illuminated and the vehicle’s brake assist system may not function properly. A malfunction of the brake actuator/booster system could increase stopping distance, reduce braking performance, and create a potential risk of a crash, especially during emergency braking situations. The problem has been confirmed through diagnosis showing the C1391 trouble code. The issue has been identified as a brake system malfunction requiring repair of the brake booster/actuator assembly. The vehicle has been inspected/diagnosed by a service professional. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Toyota/dealer inspection information is available if requested. I contacted Toyota regarding the issue, but they declined assistance because the extended warranty coverage expired approximately 7 months prior to the failure. Before the failure, the vehicle operated normally. The first symptoms occurred when multiple warning lights appeared while driving, including the ABS warning light, brake warning light, parking brake warning light (even though the parking brake was not engaged), and the traction control/slippery road warning light. These warning lights appeared suddenly, indicating a problem with the braking system.Read more

I purchased this car in April 2023 and in December 2023. I had to get a new battery when I purchased a car. They told me that there was no worries or mishaps with the vehicle they said just only normal wear and tear for is a used vehicle. My car is a 2021 Nissan Altima so the car would’ve been about two years old maybe or on his way to be in two years old when I got the car according to the Carf
... ax and the information provided to me it only had one owner previously. I’m not sure what the person did with the car but the battery was bad fast-forward to 2025. I was hit by a F150 truck. I got T-bone I had to go to the hospital, etc. it was a pretty bad hit. My windows were cracked or excuse me broken and my airbags were not deployed. No airbag was deployed. I did have my seatbelt on when the police came. My CB was still on so my car had to go. It was towed, and then it went to a mechanic shop to be fixed by the other person‘s insurance at that time, the mechanic sent me photos and explain that there was faulty, wiring and seatbelts, and he was unsure why it would be there. He said it was a immediate safety hazard, and I should address it with North Coast as soon as possible North Coast auto Mall is where I purchased the car from when I reached out to them all they told me was all you’ve had the car for about three years now we don’t know what you may have done to the Car. I still have the photos of the faulty wiring. I’m no mechanic. I explained to them that was an accident and the airbags did not deploy and when the mechanic also confirmed that’s probably why I have not heard anything from North Coast. This is an extreme safety hazard.Read more
