Engine start/stop feature is not working properly and it nearly caused a few accidents. I am getting rid of this car and going to purchase a Toyota Sienna. Android Auto doesn't work either which is a known issue as well and it is a basic safety feature to keep driver's attention on the road and not on their phones.

I purchased this vehicle at 0 miles in July 2025 from Honda Accord in Pensacola Florida. I reported in July 2025 that there was a noise and I was unhappy with the vehicle and would like to exchange the vehicle within the 30 days months later, the noise got louder, and I took it in to see what the problem was I was told there was no issue that this is the loud start noise when you first crank the c
... ar up I then proceed to advise them that there’s clicking under my steering wheel. I brought the vehicle back in to Honda of Pensacola they checked it and said that this was a steering box issue that had been a recall on most of the Honda Civic. I brought it back in and a tech looked at it, diagnosed it and said that it was a clock spring. They fix the clock spring and said that should fix the problem. Unfortunately, the north continue and got louder. I brought the vehicle back in and they said that they had to fix the steering box and that it was fixed and would not have any more issues. A month later, May 2026 the noise reappeared and I took it back to Honda. They are now saying they know that it is a safety issue it is diagnosed that it is the gear steering box once again, but there is no resolution to fix it. My car have been Nyos wrong three times and the issue is still not fixed. My 2017 Honda Pilot Touring has experienced ongoing electrical and battery-related issues for several years and has been in and out of authorized Honda dealerships numerous times. On XXX, while turning left from [XXX] onto [XXX], I had sufficient time to complete the turn and pressed the accelerator to proceed. However, the accelerator became completely unresponsive and the vehicle would not accelerate. My vehicle was left partially in the intersection while an oncoming vehicle approached. The other driver could have easily struck the driver’s side of my vehicle, creating the risk of a serious or fatal accident. Fortunately, a collision was avoided, but this incident demonstrated a significant safety hazard. In addition to this loss of acceleration, the vehicle has experienced recurring starting problems and electrical malfunctions. Pensacola Honda found that the battery tests normally when removed from the vehicle, but does not function properly when installed. Despite numerous repair attempts and escalation to American Honda, the problem remains unresolved. I believe this defect poses a serious safety risk to myself, my passengers, and others on the road due to the potential for sudden loss of acceleration while driving. I am filing a complaint regarding the premature head gasket failure on my 2021 Honda Accord, which failed on May 28, 2026, with only 89,000 miles on the vehicle. A head gasket is a critical engine component that should last well beyond 89,000 miles under normal driving conditions and proper maintenance. I purchased this vehicle because of Honda's reputation for reliability and longevity, and I am
... extremely disappointed to experience such a major engine failure at this mileage. After researching the issue, I found numerous reports from other Honda Accord owners experiencing similar head gasket failures, particularly in newer models equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine. Many owners report engine misfires, coolant loss, overheating, and costly repairs at relatively low mileage. This suggests there may be a broader issue affecting these vehicles rather than normal wear and tear. My vehicle has been properly maintained, and I did not expect to face a repair of this magnitude before reaching 100,000 miles. The cost of replacing a failed head gasket is substantial and places an unfair financial burden on owners who reasonably expect Honda vehicles to provide dependable service. I respectfully request that Honda review this matter, investigate the growing number of similar complaints, and provide assistance with repair costs. I believe Honda should stand behind its products and support customers who experience premature component failures. Thank you for your attention to this complaint. I look forward to a prompt response and a fair resolution.Read more

While driving my 2022 Honda CRV at highway speeds and at operating temperature, the steering sticks and/or pauses then releases causing the steering to jerk back in the opposite direction. This creates a major safety issue while driving on the highway and can potentially cause an accident. Additionally, when turning the vehicle left at slow speeds, we would periodically hear a clicking noise. Thes
... e problems began at the beginning of 2024 and have progressively gotten worse. Initial attempts to have Honda identify the problems failed as they could not replicate the problems at the time of diagnostics. During this time, our warranty expired. On May 20, 2026, we once again had the vehicle inspected by Pohanka Honda of Salisbury, MD for the same issues. This time the lead mechanic technician was able to replicate and pinpoint the problem. He noted the problem was the "Electrical Power Steering System Assembly and Gearbox Assembly", which contained the worm gear and worm wheel assembly. The dealership quoted us a price of $2,153.00 for parts, labor, and a full alignment, which is required during this type of repair. The service technician advised there are no current recalls to cover the cost of this repair. The Honda Corporation has suggested we apply for their “Goodwill Assistance Program”, to help cover cost for out-of-warranty repairs, but there was no guarantee that we would qualify for any monetary relief. We believe Honda Corporation is ignoring a major defect and safety issue regarding the electrical power steering assembly and gearbox, on older CRV models. This same part has been deemed as defective and a major safety issue on newer CRV models between 2023-2025 and has recalled those vehicles for repair. I believe the company should be required to recall all vehicles with the defective electrical power steering assembly and gearbox. Fortunately for us, Honda made the repair and covered the full cost through the Goodwill Assistance Program.Read more

After stopping at a red light behind a few cars in a left turn lane, the Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system turned off the engine. A moment later the light turned green and I let my foot up from the brake pedal. The engine failed to start. The hazard lights turned on automatically. I reapplied pressure to the brake and pressed the Engine Start/Stop button, which had no effect. Electrical systems remained
... active (i.e. the car did not turn off completely), but the engine also didn't start. I ensured the vehicle was in park and stepped out to verify the fuel door was closed (I had just filled the tank) and check the battery connections. Cars were going around us on the passenger side, and oncoming traffic was very close to me on the driver's side. I was concerned for myself and my passengers. No one was injured, nor was there a collision. After returning to the driver's seat, I tried the Engine Start/Stop button again. This time the car shut down. I waited a minute, then started the car. The engine started successfully. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has not been reproduced. We have been disabling AIS since the incident, so it's unlikely to happen again. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center, nor has it been inspected by anyone yet. This make and model Honda with a 2.4L engine have several known defects which brings potential harm and high operational and repair costs to its owners. Honda is well aware of the engine problems but refuses to issue recalls to correct the problem. Two of the major problems are: 1. due to a design error, the engine burns excessive amounts of oil, and 2. Honda installed a defective VTC Actuator i
... n this engine. Either problem can cause the engine to suddenly sieze/fail which could lead to serious injury or loss of life. I purchased a used 2014 Honda CR-V from a Honda dealer in 2022 with about 50,000 mi. After a short time owning the vehicle I realized that the engine was burning excessive oil (about 2 quarts every 2 to 3 weeks). When I discussed this issue with my local Honda dealer, they told me that according to a Honda Service Bulliten, my car was not losing oil at a rate that warranted repair. I've owned around 10 Hondas in my life and I've never had a car burn oil where I had to add ANY oil between oil changes. So, burning multiple quarts of oil a month is EXTREMELY UNUSUAL and should have been repaired by Honda! The 2nd problem, defective VTC Actuators, actually may be related to the 1st problem due to a constant fluctuation of the oil level, and lack of oil. The defective VTC Actuators lead to a stretched/worn Timing Chain which can cause engine failure at any time and any place. After experiencing a loud rattling coming from my engine on start-up for some time, I just had several dashboard lights come on. Running a scan on the vehicle it showed a P0341 code. I took my car to my local Honda Dealer where they informed my that I had to replace the stretched Timing Chain and failed/defective VTC Actuator at a cost of over $2600. I believe that fraud was committed by Honda from the day I purchased the vehicle as Honda was aware of both significant engine problems and did not inform us a unexpecting Buyers.Read more

When driving at highway speed, steering wheel feels like it sticks (catches) suddenly, then jerks when correcting. Steering wheel action is disconcerting, but not dangerous yet. Seems to be getting worse. The steering issue has not been inspected by the dealer, or any technician.
Incident date: Jun 3, 2026
The steering wheel is sticky when resetting position after turning left. This is a major safety issue as it requires force to get the steering out of that locked up position. This forces overcorrection and the car sways everytime. I can confirm 100s of people with civics have this issue on Reddit, YouTube and other Honda forums however the recall only applied to 2022 and above (known issue but s
... omehow recall didn’t apply to pre 2022 cars). This is a major flaw from a reputed company that sells 100s of thousands of cars. If I can see so many complaints online, I can imagine how many common people (elderly and disabled included) that don’t report and are especially at high risk of this. I sincerely request further investigation and enforcing better safety practices in this situation. Thank you very much.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding an apparent head gasket failure involving my 2022 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T equipped with Honda's 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. At approximately 143,000 miles, I began experiencing coolant loss without any visible external leak. I also noticed rough operation and shaking during startup. Concerned about the symptoms, I consulted a Honda specialist who advised
... that the vehicle is exhibiting signs consistent with a failing head gasket and will likely require head gasket replacement. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained and serviced throughout ownership. I retain maintenance records and have taken exceptional care of the vehicle. There has been no abuse, neglect, overheating event, or failure to maintain the vehicle. Through my research, I have found numerous reports from owners of Honda vehicles equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine describing similar symptoms, including coolant loss, startup misfires, rough cold starts, coolant intrusion into cylinders, and premature head gasket failures. The consistency of these reports suggests a possible design or manufacturing defect affecting the durability of the engine. A failing head gasket can lead to loss of engine power, engine damage, misfires, overheating, and potentially unsafe driving conditions. Given the volume of owner complaints involving Honda's 1.5-liter turbocharged engines, I request that NHTSA investigate whether a safety-related defect exists and whether corrective action, including a recall or service campaign, is warranted.Read more

On May 23, 2026 I was driving family and friends around San Francisco, CA in my 2017 Honda Pilot (48K miles). We were driving up multiple steep hills, up to a 20% grade in some places with a full car of 7 people. The car handled it well. However, as we neared my home 25 miles away, the car started shaking and the check engine light started flashing. We searched online and the advice was to pull
... over immediately to prevent the car from overheating and causing permanent, expensive damage. We eventually made it home, shaken, and didn't touch the car for a couple days to let it rest. I learned that there is a warranty extension "Warranty Extension TSB 20-100" for what seems like this exact problem concerning the fuel injectors. The spark plugs have been replaced in the last year, which eliminates that as a potential issue. The next week, I took the car to Honda San Carlos where it's been maintained most of its life. I informed them of the symptoms and that the car is eligible for this warranty extension. They tested it and found nothing. I told them that testing it in the shop or driving it around a few minutes on flat ground with one person is not going to replicate the driving conditions we encountered but they didn't seem to care and I had to pay $250 anyway. I took this to another dealership and the guy said it sounded exactly like an Warranty Extension TSB 20-100 issue. They tested it and also could not find anything. I called Honda Corporate and they will also do nothing. This is clearly a safety issue as this problem will happen again at some point. I have a family and young children and do not want to be stuck on the freeway as a road hazard to ourselves and other drivers. Honda has clearly identified this as a problem yet they won't authorize the repair. They are waiting for this to happen again before they'll fix it, and who knows if this ticking time bomb will occur in a safe place or a dangerous one.Read more

Once I got my car back, which took two weeks, the problems seemed to be resolved. However, after a few weeks, the ghost touches started happening again, about once a week. I was planning to live with that, given the amount of time they had my car. Now, fast forward

I had contacted my service advisor at the dealership on 5/28/26 and replied that she would get with the Service manager and shop foreman. This is ashame that a company like Honda could not stand by their product better to fix this issue that has been known since 2024.Read more
