On XXX, after leaving an appointment at an office building, I returned to my vehicle and noticed that the driver’s seat recline function was not working properly. The seat was already pushed forward to its highest position and would not recline further. I was still able to enter and operate the vehicle somewhat but remained parked. I reviewed Hyundai resources to see whether there was an update
... or known issue related to the seat concern. When I could not resolve the issue through available resources, I contacted the Hyundai dealership in Henderson. I provided my information and explained that the driver’s seat recline function was not working. I was transferred to Hyundai Customer Service. During that call, I explained that I was approximately 15 minutes away from the dealership and requested repair of the issue regardless of warranty status because I considered it a safety concern. This never happened before at all. While I was speaking with the Hyundai Customer Service representative, the driver’s seat moved again unexpectedly. As a result, I moved forward toward the steering wheel area. After that movement, the vehicle rolled or moved forward and contacted the rear of another vehicle. After the collision, the driver’s seat recline function still was not operating properly. I documented the condition with video evidence, and two witnesses observed the vehicle and the seat condition after the collision. When I contacted Hyundai, I was very upset to learn that the call I had with the customer service representative was not documented anywhere. Also, no one contacted me although I was in distress, crying, and in the accident and the customer service representative knew this. There was no aid or phone call follow ups to me by Hyundai customer care at all. Hyundai Motor America opened a case investigation and instructed me not to perform repairs at this time so the vehicle could be preserved for inspection. The transmission has failed twice while the vehicle was in motion, causing loss of gear control and, on one occasion, loss of parking brake function. Incident 1 — March 24, 2026: While driving on the highway, the transmission failed and the vehicle entered a "safety mode." The vehicle was in dealer service for 8 days at Findlay Land Rover. Incident 2 — July 4, 2026, approximately 9:55 AM, at 6
... .1 miles into the trip, near South Buffalo Drive / Summerlin Parkway, Las Vegas, NV: While making a right turn off the Summerlin Parkway exit, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral with no prior warning. A check engine light and "Gearbox fault detected" alert appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle coasted downhill and my worker was able to steer it to the shoulder. Once stopped, the gearshift would not engage any gear other than neutral, and the electronic parking brake also failed to engage. My worker kept his foot on the brake pedal continuously and did not turn off the engine, fearing the vehicle could not be safely towed otherwise. A tow was requested at 10:09 AM and arrived at 11:01 AM; at that point the parking brake functioned again, and the vehicle was winched onto the tow truck. The vehicle was dropped off at Land Rover Las Vegas at 11:41 AM. Upon repair pickup on July 7, 2026, the service advisor stated the issue was software-related — the vehicle's computer had taken the transmission offline. The malfunctioning transmission and intermittent loss of parking brake function on a moving public road presents a serious safety risk, particularly since the failure occurred without warning during normal driving conditions.Read more

The engine on a 2022 Hyundai Sonata developed rod knock at approximately 99,460 miles. The vehicle had been serviced exclusively at an authorized Hyundai dealership for its entire life with 12 documented service visits. What failed: The engine lubrication system. Two prior events at the dealership are documented in the service records: (1) approximately 20,000 miles before the rod knock, a dealer
... ship technician damaged the oil filter cap during a service visit, causing an active engine oil leak while the vehicle was being driven. The dealership repaired this at no charge, indicating fault. (2) The dealership placed an oil change reminder sticker in the vehicle specifying an interval that their own service advisor later acknowledged was set incorrectly. The vehicle was brought in approximately 660 miles past that sticker date. Safety risk: Rod knock indicates internal engine bearing failure. The engine continued to be driven at the dealership's instruction ("keep driving, come back if you hear it again") with unresolved internal damage. The knocking sound has since returned, creating risk of sudden engine failure while in operation. Confirmed by dealer: Yes. The rod knock was confirmed by the dealership's technician on the date of the diagnostic visit. The diagnosis noted the engine was low on oil and recommended an oil change, but no repair was performed. Warning lamps/prior symptoms: The engine oil warning light illuminated during the prior oil filter cap leak incident. At the rod knock visit, the knocking sound was the presenting symptom. No oil pressure warning light was noted at that visit. Inspection status: Inspected by authorized Hyundai dealership. Warranty claim was denied by dealership and no response has been received from Hyundai Motor America after formal escalation.Read more

My 2022 Volkswagen Jetta (purchased new) has a recurring Travel Assist/Adaptive Cruise Control safety malfunction that has existed since before approximately 24,000 miles. While driving with Adaptive Cruise Control or Travel Assist engaged, the vehicle repeatedly warns me to "Take Control of the Vehicle" or indicates my hands are not on the steering wheel even though both hands are firmly on the w
... heel. I often have to immediately tighten my grip to prevent the system from escalating. On numerous occasions, the vehicle has also applied the brakes unexpectedly at highway speeds when there was no apparent hazard in front of the vehicle. These unexpected braking events create a serious safety concern, especially in traffic. I drive between [XXX] and [XXX] approximately twice each month. During a typical one-way trip, the steering wheel recognition warnings may occur a dozen or more times while using Travel Assist or Adaptive Cruise Control. Unexpected braking has occurred repeatedly over the course of ownership. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Volkswagen dealer multiple times for this same issue. Volkswagen has replaced the steering wheel multiple times, updated software, opened a Technical Assistance Center (TAC) case, and at least one technician duplicated the concern during a test drive. Despite these repeated repair attempts, the problem continues. I am reporting this because I believe the recurring Travel Assist failures and unexpected braking present an ongoing motor vehicle safety defect. Below it asks for the approximate date the incident occurred. It started approximately in XXX but it happens all of the time still. I am reporting a serious safety failure in my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L (1,483 miles). On XXX, the vehicle was parked with my wife and young children inside. NHTSA 22V-024, R21B90 Original case #11722884 Dealership, Stelly Nissan of Yorktown Heights, lied about the recall eligibility of my vehicle on March 5th, 2026. When I researched my own service records, 2014 Nissan Rogue VIN is actively included in Recall 22V-024 for the electrical connector fluid-wicking defect. The franchise dealership misinformed me regarding my vehicle's eligibility and fail
... ed to physically perform the mandatory wire harness remedy. They subsequently bypassed federal compliance by illegally marking the safety recall as closed or completed in the system without executing the physical repair. I have the physical invoice dated 11/25/2022, 0.00 parts/labor and visual inspection only, which contradicts what the recall procedure was defined as. Because the dealership skipped this mandatory safety remedy, the unaddressed fluid-wicking defect has now caused severe, cascading electrical system failures across multiple dashboard components. The vehicle remains an active electrical fire hazard as described in the original 22V-024 defect report. I am filing this new complaint specifically to report Dealer Recall Non-Compliance and Enforcement Violation. I request that NHTSA compel the manufacturer to execute the physical recall remedy immediately to mitigate the fire risk. As a matter of course, it is not currently a possibility to work with either the dealership, who has ceased communication with me, or Nissan Consumer Affairs who blatantly ignored that the recall was not performed and cited it as closed, a violation of Federal Law. Vehicle has been at dealership since 3/6/2026 and I have a large collection of supporting evidence that dealership has refused to comply with NYS DMV and NYS AG requests for mediation. Patterns examined at same dealership, case-in-point, suggest that this needs to be examined further and according to the law, not via a private consumer.Read more

Parking Assistance malfunction as well as an SRS airbag malfunction. I am submitting this complaint to report a potential safety concern involving a new 2026 Toyota RAV4 that I purchased from an authorized Toyota dealership. Shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle, I began receiving multiple warning lights and error messages. Because I was concerned that a brand-new vehicle was experiencing
... these issues, I took it to my local Toyota dealership for diagnosis. According to the service department, the issues appear to be related to aftermarket parts installed on the vehicle. I was advised that aftermarket components can interfere with the vehicle's electronic systems and should not be installed. I informed the dealership that I have not installed, modified, or added any aftermarket parts or accessories since purchasing the vehicle. If the vehicle was sold to me with aftermarket components already installed, I believe this raises significant concerns about whether the vehicle was in the condition represented at the time of sale and whether those components could affect the safe operation of the vehicle. As a consumer, I had every expectation that a new vehicle would be delivered with factory-approved components unless otherwise disclosed. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter to determine whether there are any safety implications and whether additional investigation is warranted. I am also requesting that this complaint be documented in the event similar complaints are reported involving other vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if you require any additional documentation, including service records or diagnostic reports.Read more

I recently purchased/financed a 2019 f-150 xlt and told the dealer I was using the vehicle to tow a boat from XXX to XXX. The vehicle was inspected and released XXX and I left the morning of the third. Made it 2/3 the way and started experiencing dangerous down shifts and up shifts on the highway and off which almost caused me to get into a couple accidents. I managed to make it to my destinatio
... n safely. Upon arrival the battery died and I thought that could be the problem. Purchased a new battery and this did temporarily help the issue and the vehicle ran more efficiently. Then on the return journey before I left I did a reset protocol for the transmission computer. That helped but eventually failed. I had more dangerous shifting towards the end of the trip just before getting home which also almost caused a accident. On top of all this my dog was thrown into the back of my seat from the issue. Im very upset and am considering legal action against the dealer and possibly Ford. I feel lucky to be alive. Ruined my vacation and has had me all worked up that I bought a lemon I still owe $24,000 in financing on. Thought my dog was injured too. Took him to the vet he was ok. Talked to a bunch of resources and spoke to a former Ford mechanic who admitted to me after becoming quite about my dog smashing into my seat. He admitted the same thing happened to him and his dog died. So there’s definitely a major issue with these transmissions which I have researched and found that ford was recycling foreign transmissions and putting their components in them and their failing left and right. Someone needs to further investigate this. I have been seeing some recent news reports of it. As well as every Ford dealer in the area is booked up in the transmission department for months. This vehicle has been in multiple times for major repairs and is currently in for transmission replacement and coolant replacements. Both of these have already had parts replaced. The recall on my car has been on it for a year and has yet to be addressed. I was told that my car started smoking while in ford possession and attempting repairs. When I questioned the recall I was told it wasn’t a bi
... g deal and that it was just a system thing and not a danger. This does not seem to be the case. The vehicle has had issues since 15000 miles and has been repaired 4 times but officially broke down at 96000 miles in less than 3 years.Read more

The braking system does not engage properly and is worse in the rain. When adaptive cruise control is on, the car does not slow down at every instance when there is a car in front slowing down. When the car finally realizes there's an object/car in front it then slips before engaging in traction control, which seems to make the car actually slide forward rather than attempting to stop immediately.

In 2021, my vehicle had the high-pressure fuel pump replaced by an authorized BMW dealership under Safety Recall 21V-586 (BMW SIB 13 01 21). At the time of the recall, my vehicle had approximately 43,000 miles, and I was not experiencing any fuel system or drivability issues. The high-pressure fuel pump was replaced solely because BMW determined the original component posed a safety risk. My vehic
... le now has approximately 128,000 miles. The replacement high-pressure fuel pump installed as part of the recall has failed. Two independent repair facilities have diagnosed the high-pressure fuel pump as the cause of the no-start/fuel delivery issue. When I took the vehicle to a BMW dealership, I was informed that additional diagnostic work was needed to inspect for possible metal contamination from the fuel pump, but I have not yet been provided with a final written diagnosis. I am concerned that the replacement part installed as the recall remedy has failed in the same manner as the original recalled component. If confirmed, this raises concerns about the durability and effectiveness of the recall repair. I respectfully request that NHTSA review whether similar failures have been reported involving replacement high-pressure fuel pumps installed under Recall 21V-586. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be documented and evaluated as a potential safety concern.Read more
