I brought my vehicle to a Honda dealership for a safety recall repair (airbag/SRS related). After the repair, the SRS warning light appeared on my dashboard, indicating a potential safety issue with the airbag system. This issue was not present before the recall repair. It appeared shortly after the dealership completed the service. I contacted the dealership multiple times, but they have not resp
... onded or provided any assistance. This is a serious safety concern because the airbag system may not function properly in the event of an accident. I believe the recall repair was performed improperly, creating a new safety risk. I am requesting an investigation into this issue.Read more

The car misfires very badly. I have changed the fuel injectors, fuel pump, spark plugs and the ignition coils to no avail. Also, car randomly showed to be overheating one day, got home and checked and my coolant level had dropped dramatically very quickly. The car has since been diagnosed with a bad head gasket.

While driving on a highway in snowy conditions, the vehicle experienced a brief loss of traction and slid across lanes. There was no confirmed collision with another vehicle, object, or obstacle. During this event, the passenger-side curtain airbag and passenger seat airbag deployed unexpectedly. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms indicating any issue with the airbag or safe
... ty systems before the incident. After the event, the vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealership. The inspection confirmed that the airbags had deployed; however, no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) were found in the system, and no system malfunction was identified. The dealer suggested that “impact seems” to be present based on visual observation, but no specific collision or impact event was confirmed. I expressed concerns about the safety implications of this incident and requested further diagnostic evaluation to determine the specific cause of the airbag deployment. However, no additional diagnostic analysis was performed, and no definitive explanation was provided regarding the triggering event. The cause of the airbag deployment is UNKNOWN. The system activated without a clearly identified impact or recorded fault, raising concern about whether the airbag system may deploy under loss-of-traction conditions without a qualifying collision. This unexpected airbag deployment created a potential safety risk, as it occurred during vehicle instability and could have further impaired driver control or visibility. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.Read more

My wife was driving our 2016 Honda Pilot and making a right turn when she lost most of the power on the vehicle. She noticed an immediate rattling/knocking sound and drove home with reduced power. We took it to the Honda dealership on the week of March 30 to have it evaluated and they said it was a timing belt issue. We were charged the diagnostic fee and had it towed from the dealership to a repa
... ir shop. They repaired the timing belt, but said that the issue was the engine and it needed replaced. We took it back to the dealership to confirm that the issue was not the timing belt and they asked that we pay another diagnostic fee as they did not repair the timing belt and then said that the issue was indeed then engine and it needed replacing. My vehicle only has 145K miles on it and we have maintained it well. I know there was a recall for 2016 Honda Pilot's, but for those produced a few months after mine. I believe that my suv may have suffered severe engine damage by not being included. I would be glad to submit any and all evidence to support this as this could have been very dangerous for my wife and children had she been driving on the highway and lost power suddenly. I have not replaced the engine yet, but will be doing so soon as I need a way to get to/from work.Read more

On 4/4/2026, my child sustained a serious finger injury involving the power sliding door. The child activated the power sliding door using the interior door button. While the door was closing, the child’s hand remained on the front (leading) edge of the sliding door where it meets the door frame (B-pillar). The child’s finger became caught between the closing door and the frame. The power sl
... iding door continued to close completely and latched shut on the child’s finger. At no point did the door stop or auto-reverse, and there was no noticeable slowing, hesitation, or warning indicating obstruction detection. The door operation sounded normal during closing. The child’s finger remained trapped until an adult manually opened the sliding door to release it. The injury involved a finger amputation involving the distal portion of the finger with an open fracture and nail involvement, requiring emergency room treatment. Emergency department records document a diagnosis of fingertip amputation, with radiology findings noting a soft tissue amputation defect and concern for distal phalanx (tuft) fracture of the affected finger. Follow-up evaluation on 04/06/2026 confirmed the severity of the injury and resulted in an urgent same-day referral for orthopedic/hand surgical evaluation.Read more

The contact stated that while their wife was driving approximately 50 -55 MPH, the front passenger side air bag and the curtain air bag, which were expanded from the front passenger seat to the rear passenger seat, suddenly deployed without impact. The sudden deployment caused the driver to immediately stop the vehicle to avoid a further incident. The contact
... stated their wife had informed them of a pot hole being in the road; however, they could not confirm if the air bags deployed after driving over the pot hole specifically. The driver pulled to the side of the road, and the local police were contacted. A police report was filed. The contact stated that two children had received injuries, one child received a bruise and swelling to the side of their head, and the other child received bruising and scratches to their arms. The contact's wife received bruising and whiplash from the incident. The other two children in the vehicle at the time of the incident received mild whiplash. Medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop, where a mechanic confirmed that no impact had occurred and was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Our 2018 Honda Odyssey repeatedly and without warning completely loses acceleration power, creating extremely dangerous driving conditions. This occurs in two distinct situations:(1)while driving at highway speeds when attempting to change lanes or accelerate, and(2)when stopped at a stop sign or intersection and pressing the gas to merge into or turn into traffic. In both situations, pressing the
... accelerator results in little to no response — the vehicle will roll but fails to accelerate as needed. These failures have placed our family in multiple life-threatening situations. On Interstate 285 in Atlanta, Georgia — one of the busiest and highest-speed highways in the country — our vehicle has failed to accelerate during lane changes on multiple occasions, nearly causing serious accidents. Most recently, within the past week, my husband was driving on I-285 when he pressed the accelerator and the vehicle had absolutely zero acceleration response. He narrowly avoided a collision. We have also experienced complete loss of acceleration when turning from a stop sign into traffic and when merging — situations where immediate acceleration is critical to safety. The vehicle lags for several seconds before any power is delivered to the wheels, leaving us dangerously exposed in oncoming traffic. All manufacturer recalls have been completed, including the fuel pump recall. The problem persists and has not been resolved by any dealer service or recall repair performed to date. We are aware that this is a known, widespread defect affecting 2018 Honda Odysseys equipped with the ZF 9-speed automatic transmission. Hundreds of other owners have reported identical symptoms to NHTSA and to Honda directly. Honda has acknowledged the transmission's behavior to some owners but has stated it is "how the car is supposed to drive" — a response that is wholly unacceptable given the documented near-accidents this defect is causing. We are requesting that NHTSA open or expand its investigationRead more

Description: While using cruise control at highway speed and winter weather conditions, the cruise control system suddenly and unexpectedly disengaged without adequate warning. The vehicle experienced rapid deceleration and I lost control, resulting in multiple spins, a near collision with a truck, and impact with a curb before coming to stop. The vehicle sustained damage. Fortunately no one was n
... ot severely injured. History and safety concern This is not an isolated event. I have experienced similar, unexpected cruise control disengagements multiple times over the past year while driving under varied conditions. Each event has created a significant safety risk. The sudden, uncommanded disengagement at highway speed caused abrupt deceleration and loss of control, which presents a severe hazard to vehicle occupants and other road users. I have reported the issue to the manufacturer and requested a full diagnostic investigation, system data logs, root‑cause determination, and remediation (I am requesting replacement or buyback if a defect is confirmed). I have asked the manufacturer to escalate to a senior case manager/remediation team and to preserve all relevant data and parts. Requested NHTSA actions Open an ODI safety defect investigation into this vehicle model/series and the cruise control/ADAS/cruise‑control module behavior. Request preservation and production of all relevant manufacturer data, including ECU/ADAS event data recorder logs, telematics, software versions, diagnostic records, and any field complaints or warranty claims related to cruise control disengagements. Evaluate whether this is a systemic safety defect requiring recall, remedy, or other actions, and consider requiring manufacturer owner notification and appropriate remedies (repair, replacement, buyback) if a defect is confirmed. Provide guidance on any additional evidence or steps I should take to support the investigation.Read more

Subject: Safety Defect Report – Steering Wheel Lock-Up & Lack of Notification – 2022 Honda HR-V Description of Incident: I am reporting a severe, life-threatening safety defect regarding the steering system of my 2022 Honda HR-V. While driving, the steering wheel suddenly and unexpectedly locks up, making it nearly impossible to steer. This has occurred more than three times recently, with in
... creasing frequency. Key Safety Concerns: •Sudden Loss of Control: The steering becomes rigid without warning, creating an immediate risk of a crash. This has occurred during each of my last three trips. •Lack of Manufacturer Notification: According to official NHTSA Recall 24V-744, the "sticky steering" gearbox recall includes certain 2022–2025 Honda models. However, I never received a recall notice for my vehicle. •Contradictory Information: My research confirms that the 2022 model year and the HR-V model are specifically named in the broad recall for this steering gearbox defect. Despite my vehicle exhibiting the exact "sticky" and locking behavior identified in the recall, I have not been contacted by Honda for the free repair. •Manufacturer Acknowledgment: Both my local dealer and Honda corporate have confirmed that 2023 and newer models are being recalled, yet my 2022 model—built within the same production window and using the same faulty supplier parts—is not being prioritized for service. Request for Action: I request that NHTSA investigate why 2022 HR-V models experiencing these dangerous failures were not included in the primary notification mailing. I urge NHTSA to ensure that all 2022 HR-V owners experiencing this steering gearbox failure are granted access to the free repair (gearbox or worm gear spring replacement) Google Search Yes, a significant "sticky steering" issue affecting nearly 1.7 million Honda and Acura vehicles from the 2022–2025 model years is being addressed through a massive NHTSA recall (Campaign 24V-744), initiated in October 2024. The dealership seems to be completely unaware of the multitude of transmission issues documented even though this appears to be a known and well documented defect based on the class action lawsuit Browning, et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., et al. They charge me for the analysis and send me on my way as if they have no idea what is going on with my vehicle. I am the sole owner and have kept the vehicle well maintained at Leith Honda, 3940 Capital Hills Drive, Raleigh, NC 27616 and I have had all manufacturers recalls handled in a timely manner. When taking it to my local Honda dealership, they determined that it was my front camera (multi-purpose camera internal failure). After some research and speaking to the service department, this major safety failure has been happening to many other Honda vehicles. The emissions system failur
... e seems to also be a faulty design. I feel that the camera system failure could have resulted in an accident or major injury. And of no fault of my own. My vehicle is regularly maintained and is merely 6 years old. I should not be replacing a mayor system like the front camera every 6 years.Read more

Vehicle experienced misfires, triggering many different warning systems on the dash. It took several trips to the mechanics to diagnose, but the cause was eventually determined to be a broken head gasket and turbocharger. The issue began sometime between the 90 and 100k mark. Diagnostic codes were not of any assistance when trying to find the source issue. Vehicle is available for inspection upon
... request. Potential engine failure at any mileage is a serious issue that could have impacted one of several road trips if had the source of the issue had it not been found. Independent service center was thankfully able to determine issue after weeks of troubleshooting, though it was not inspected by insurance or other third parties. Report was submitted at recommendation of mechanic as supposedly several cars from this model year have had this issue.Read more

1. The vehicle accelerated rapidly and uncontrollably without my touching the gas pedal and despite my slamming the breaks. 2 The vehicle jumped a curb and slammed into a parked car. Someone could have been easily killed if they were in front of the vehicle. 3. Not yet. I will have it towed to the dealer tomorrow. 4. No, See #3 above. 5. No. This was the first time this happened.

Transmission started shifting roughly last year, dealership has changed fluid a few times and shifting was better but last time rough shifting came back within a few months. I was driving on a two lane highway and did three individual passes of slower vehicles, after the third pass my transmission lost its mind and started banging into gear then going into neutral, I had to feather the accelerator
... all the way home. Next drive a few days later in regular traffic it clunked into gears, I did feel the judder for the first time, entered the freeway; check emissions, transmission, blind spot warnings all came on. Got it home a few miles later and had it towed to my dealership, was told the trans is shot, there was metal debris in the fluid. Negotiated getting a reman trans from Honda at a huge expense for a truck only worth $10k according to what carvana would give for it but I can’t find any light truck that I want to spend $45k on again. Having the trans replaced made the most sense since my truck is in really good shape (knock on wood) otherwise. Honda adjusted the cost under Goodwill which I appreciate but the cost should’ve been lowered much more and increase the warranty for others with this trans. People think Hondas are bombproof but then we’re blindsided by this huge repair and people don’t know what they’re getting into by buying these used when used car dealers can really take advantage knowing this fatal flaw exists and knowing most shoppers won’t know and will trust that it’ll be fine being a Honda product.Read more

I was driving and the engine light started flashing, the car started to hesitate and would not go over 20 mph. I took it to the Honda dealership in Frisco, TX and they diagnosed the issue using Boroscope and recommended Head Gasket replacement with spark plugs due to plugs being fouled from coolant leaking into combustion chamber.
