The instrument panel with the fuel and mileage on it would go black or keep going back and forth to the original car code while I am driving. Next, the screen for my radio would shut down on me and restart itself while I am on the highway. Lastly, when I turn on my exterior lights at night, my interior lights that come on for me to see all the buttons went out for some of the buttons. The safety o
... f myself and others was put at risk because the car could have shut down whenever someone was driving it. I took it to a Honda dealership and they did a diagnostic and the immediate attention result was Internal Electric Failure. But Honda Corporate declined to help me with repair assistance.Read more

The steering wheel feels as if it is sticking while driving, forcing me to use slightly more pressure to force the wheel past the "sticking" point. This causes me to overcorrect my steering, making the car jolt to the left or right depending on which way I'm moving the steering wheel. I feel this mostly at speeds higher than 65, but it has happened at lower speeds as well. This has been happening
... several times a week for the past 3 weeks. My mechanic checked the car and was unable to diagnose the cause as he doesn't have the ability to put it on a machine. I called my local Honda dealer and prices start at $150 for diagnostics. Upon research I found that this same complaint has been filed on other makes and models the same as mine, however my VIN is not included. I have had no accidents due to this issue but it is happening more.Read more

My vehicle's Maintenance Minder system—the sole official schedule for maintenance per the Owner's Manual (Pages 649-658)—was corrupted by an authorized Honda dealer. The Service Advisor stated that sometimes technicians reset all the Maintenance Minder codes rather than just the applicable ones. Honda Corporate admitted this is a possibility when I followed up after the service. They stated t
... hat resetting all the codes rather than the ones that apply, can affect when and how future Maintenance Minder Codes appear. Honda provided contradictory information: first stating that the Maintenance Minder state cannot be reconstructed to accurately alert the owner to future necessary maintenance, then subsequently stating that reconstruction is possible if 'deemed necessary.' This leaves the owner with a corrupted safety maintenance system, with the remedy apparently contingent on Honda's discretion rather than the owner's right to accurate maintenance alerts. Without accurate alerts, critical maintenance items (brake fluid, coolant, transmission fluid) may not be serviced at proper intervals, increasing risk of component failure. Attached: Service invoice (RO #189526, 04/03/26) showing dealer added unscheduled Coolant Flush (Item 5) to my B1 request and reset ALL codes. Manual (pp. 649-658) confirms Item 5 is a separate sub-item triggered only by the system, not mileage. Honda Corporate emails admit resetting all codes corrupts future alert accuracy but offered contradictory remedies (first 'cannot fix,' then 'if deemed necessary'). This systemic failure—dealers bypassing the algorithm and Honda failing to enforce corrections—leaves owners with corrupted safety maintenance data, risking missed critical service intervals.Read more

To whom it may concern at NHTSA, I am filing a formal complaint regarding a critical technical discrepancy in Honda’s manufacturing records that is preventing essential safety diagnostics and maintenance for my vehicle. Vehicle Details: • VIN: [XXX] • Model: 2022 Honda Civic Touring (11th Generation) • Manufacturing Plant: Honda of Canada Mfg. The Issue: According to the NHTSA Part 565 su
... bmittal (which I have verified), this specific VIN is registered with an L15B7 engine (normally associated with the 10th Gen Civic). My vehicle physically carries this engine, and it is documented in my official registration. However, when I take the vehicle to the Authorized Honda Distributor (Nile Trading & Engineering) for service, their Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) fails to establish a connection with the vehicle’s ECU. The system identifies a "Software/Model Year Mismatch" because the global HDS software expects an L15CA engine for all 2022 models, while my car carries the L15B7 as per the manufacturer's early 2022 production records. Lack of Cooperation from Honda: I have contacted American Honda Motor Co. (Case #XXX) multiple times to request a technical solution or a software patch to allow the local dealer to access the car’s systems. Despite the clear evidence of a manufacturing record anomaly: 1.American Honda has been completely uncooperative, refusing to escalate the issue to their engineering team in Canada. 2.They have formally closed my case, stating they "operate independently" and cannot assist with vehicles outside their immediate region, even though the error originates from their own manufacturing database. Safety Risk: Due to this "Diagnostic Lock," I am unable to: • Perform critical safety recalls. • Update vehicle software/firmware. • Diagnose potential engine or safety system failures. I noticed the vehicle was making a noise while driving which was diagnosed by an independent Honda service center. They said this noise was because of a rod bearing breaking. No warning lights or mess

During these events, the estimated driving range dropped significantly, charging was limited to approximately 25%,

By the time I was able to bring it to the dealership on the next available business day, the warning light had turned off. I was advised to bring the vehicle in immediately if the issue happened again. The issue did not reoccur for about three months. When it happened again, I was out of town and the estimated range dropped from over 100 miles to around 60 miles. I was able to make it home without requiring a tow and brought the vehicle to the dealership the following day. At check-in, the service advisor observed that the warning lights were still active. However, later that day I was informed that by the time the vehicle was inspected, the warning lights had turned off, and no action could be taken. Based on information found in online owner forums, this appears to be a known issue potentially related to a defective component. It has also been suggested that the issue is more likely to occur in colder conditions. Due to the unpredictability of this failure and the loss of power and range when it occurs, I do not feel confident in the reliability of the vehicle, particularly for longer trips or travel in remote areas.Read more

My 2019 accord gets stiff at speeds over 25-30mph and resists driver input, so much that you tend to over-compensate and make constant steering corrections every second so you don't crash. The car does not track straight at any speed, and does the same when the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) is off or on. When LKA is active the car will not go straight on a straight smooth road. The car wanders dangero
... usly from the right to left line markers and often rides on the markers bringing you very close to other cars and then jerks the car back to the opposite side of the lane and continues to do the same back and forth like a drunk person is driving the car. Also the Driver Input Required amber light comes frequently on a straight road with highly visible lane markers. It is extremely tiresome to drive the car and try to keep it in its lane, even when I disable all the "driver-assistance" features. This is because the steering has a mind of its own and stiffens up. It resists the slightest driver input so you have to put more strength into it to make it go where you want to, but once the steering gives up fighting you and lets you do it, it results in overcompensating and constant steering corrections by the drive left-right, left-right, just going down in a straight smooth freshly paved road. It’s been over a year and the dealer has yet to detect anything wrong, they tell me my vehicle drives perfect, honda dealer after dealer.Read more

Dear American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ,I am writing to formally document my experience with a premature failure of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) in my Honda HR-V. The vehicle was covered under the extended warranty program Honda implemented specifically for the known CVT issues affecting 2016–2020 model years. In On 3/10/26 the CVT failed at approximately 96,000 miles. The vehicle w
... as towed to an authorized Honda dealership, where technicians confirmed premature belt deterioration and breakage. Prior to the failure, I had the vehicle serviced at the dealership for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software update outlined in Honda Service Bulletin 21-047. During that visit, I reported a noticeable burning smell, which I now believe originated from the failing transmission belt. The dealership assured me there were no issues and stated that the software update had adjusted the gear ratio to reduce strain on the transmission. The vehicle was returned to me with no further action recommended. Subsequent communication with American Honda revealed that the company had been aware of widespread CVT belt issues in these model years. Rather than issue a full recall, Honda extended the powertrain warranty to 7 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first). My repeated attempts to escalate the matter with Honda Customer Service, including multiple requests for contact information for a regional manager, were unsuccessful. After several weeks of delays—during which my vehicle remained at the dealership for over 20 +days—Honda Corporate initially offered to cover a remanufactured CVT replacement at a cost of $4,500 to me. The dealership ultimately assisted by reducing my out-of-pocket expense to $2,900.I find it unacceptable that a vehicle with only 96,000 miles required a major transmission replacement costing nearly $3,000, especially after Honda had already acknowledged the defect through a technical service bulletin and an extended warranty.
