Our steering rack has failed on our 2020 CRV with 23,000 miles on it. There are recalls out there for earlier CRV's as well as the 2023-2025 CRV'S. It cost us $5300 to repair it. If there is an obvious safety defect, why are the 2020's not covered in this recall. There is obviously a long standing safety issue here.

Subject: Safety Complaint – 2022 Honda HR‑V – Intermittent Unintended Acceleration While Braking I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect in my 2022 Honda HR‑V. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has unexpectedly accelerated while I was pressing the brake pedal. This behavior is intermittent, unpredictable, and dangerous. Description of the Issue: While slowing dow
... n or coming to a stop, the vehicle will occasionally surge forward despite my foot being firmly on the brake. The engine revs and the vehicle attempts to move forward against braking force. This is not driver error. It occurs without any warning lights, alerts, or diagnostic messages. Operating Conditions When the Problem Occurs: - Low‑speed braking (parking lots, stop signs, traffic - Foot fully on the brake pedal - No cruise control active - No pedals obstructed - Normal road and weather conditions Safety Concerns: This defect creates a clear risk of: - Rear‑end collisions - Pedestrian injury - Property damage Loss of vehicle control The behavior is consistent with an electronic brake/throttle control malfunction, including possible issues with the brake pedal position sensor, accelerator pedal sensor, brake booster pressure sensor, or driver‑assist modules (ABS, ESC, CMBS). Other HR‑V owners have reported similar incidents. Dealer Response: The issue is intermittent, and the dealership has been unable to reproduce it. No repairs have been performed. No diagnostic codes were stored. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential unintended acceleration defect affecting the 2022 Honda HR‑V. This problem poses a significant safety hazard to me and to the public. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Car was assessed for recall related to service bulletin 23-032. Recall was performed, but the mechanic who performed the recall says the car is not repaired because the rear frame corrosion, as described in bulletin 23-032, is so severe that a large piece is missing from the rear frame. The car is considered unsafe due to the frame damage and likely cannot pass state inspection. After calling Honda, Honda says the repair is complete even though the mechanic who performed the recall says the repair is not complete and the car is unsafe due to issues with rear frame corrosion that led to the recall in the first place. Honda is refusing to discuss the issue any further. A screenshot of the damaged part of the rear frame has been attached. This is part of a video taken by the mechanic who performed the recall. In this video the mechanic also states that “this is not a repair.” He also states that part of the damage is obscured by the brace that was attached to the frame, so the image provided does not show the full extent of the damage.Read more

I'm having symptoms of cold startup engine rattle type clatter sound for approximately 2-3 seconds and then it goes away. Doesn't do that again unless the car sits for a period of time. If it's been started recently like within 1 hour or 2 hours it will startup with out making that metal rattle/clatter sound for 2-3 seconds. I was told it's likely the 2.4l engine VTC actuator is failing letting t
... he engine oil drain out causing a dry start. I was told it was a common issue and even the internet is saying the same thing that this is a widely known issue. There should be a recall for this because this should not be happening My car has only 156,000 miles on it. And I've own cars with well over 200,000 miles and that's never happened never had I had an engine problem related to the timing chain or the VVT system. I'm hoping this is a recall where will be soon because it's not affordable repair bill for many people. Please let this become a recall or whatever it's called to have the manufacturer take responsibility and fix the problem. I would have not had bought this vehicle if I was aware of this issue probably because it's not a low cost repair I was told. Otherwise this car is a great car runs good drives good once it starts and runs for a few seconds. It's only when the car sets for a period of time not running and you go just start it and you hear that rattle for 2-3 seconds. When I bought the vehicle it wasn't doing this at least not when I first bought it.Read more

During a winter storm in approximately 10°F weather, my vehicle became immobilized due to a no-start condition. The starter initially engaged and cranked the engine several times, then failed and would only free-spin without turning the engine. After this occurred, the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral because it is equipped with an electronic shift-by-wire transmission. The only method t
... o move the vehicle requires a proprietary Honda mechanical neutral-release tool (07AAA-TZ3A100). This tool was not supplied with the vehicle, was not available to the owner or responding tow operators, costs over $200, and local Honda dealerships do not carry it in stock. As a result, it was not possible to obtain the tool in an emergency situation. Two flatbed tow trucks responded. Both operators stated the only way to load the vehicle would be to drag it while locked in park, which would likely cause damage to the transmission, drivetrain, or tires. This was not a safe or acceptable option. As a result, occupants were stranded from approximately 1:00 PM until 6:30 PM in 10°F weather with no heat, because the vehicle could not be moved. A single common mechanical failure should not render a vehicle completely immobile with no accessible emergency override. Requiring a costly, proprietary tool that is not provided with the vehicle and not available to dealers or emergency responders creates a serious safety risk due to cold exposure and inability to move or clear the vehicle during emergency conditions.Read more

I first experienced the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights on December 20, 2025, while driving. I knew something was wrong because whenever I turned the steering wheel, braked hard, or drove over potholes, all three lights would come on and remain lit for about a minute. Each time I turned the car off and restarted it, the lights would disappear. However, if I drove the vehicle for an
... extended period, the lights would eventually come back on. At first, I believed the issue was related to my brakes. I ordered new brakes and rotors and had them installed by my certified mechanic. Unfortunately, about an hour after the repair, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake lights came on again. I immediately contacted my mechanic and brought the vehicle back in for a diagnostic test. The diagnostic results showed that the ABS module is faulty. My mechanic explained that this malfunction is what is causing all three warning lights to appear on my dashboard. I was advised that the ABS module must be replaced by the manufacturer or a dealership. After researching this issue, I discovered that this same problem has occurred on multiple occasions with Honda Crosstours over the years, indicating that this may be a known or recurring defect. I fear for my safety and life.Read more
