The power tailgate control unit (part #74970-THR-A12) failed on my 2023 Honda Odyssey at approximately 46,000 miles and 3 years of age. The tailgate stopped functioning entirely. Upon removing the interior rear trim panels to diagnose, I discovered the failure was caused by water intrusion into the rear body of the vehicle. Behind the interior panels I found: significant rust on interior sheet met
... al, green corrosion coating the power tailgate control unit, dried water stains showing pooled standing water that had evaporated over time, and clear evidence of repeated slow water exposure over an extended period — not a single incident. The vehicle has no rear windows that open and no exterior damage that would explain the water source. The symptoms and damage pattern match the class action Dubrosky v. American Honda Motor Co., [XXX] , which alleges defective polyurethane rear body seam sealant in 2018-2021 Honda Odysseys allowing water to leak into the rear driver's side panel and destroy the power tailgate control module. My 2023 exhibits identical symptoms, raising the question whether the same defect extends to later model years. SAFETY RISK: The class action documents that this defect has caused tailgates to open or close unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion, fail to latch, short-circuit, and in some cases cause fires. Items in the cargo area can fall out during driving, creating road hazards for other vehicles. My tailgate failed completely; I consider myself fortunate it failed closed rather than opening in motion. The damaged components are available for inspection. The vehicle has been inspected and photographed by Pohanka Honda of Salisbury, MD, who confirmed the damage but denied warranty coverage. No independent inspection has occurred. WARNINGS PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No dashboard warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appeared before the tailgate stopped functioning. Steering is sticky during highway driving, causing a lack of confidence and a tendency to overcorrect. It makes the driving experience less secure and more open to harm.

Multiple times of driving the vehicle as I am trying to press the gas pedal while driving it acts like it is not working and suddenly it stutters and stalls. The car will shut off and put you into to neutral while you try and pull over to the side of the road without being hit. It happens randomly and without rhyme or reason. After it shuts off codes are thrown such as brake failure, emissions fai
... lure, hill assist failure, steering failure, and lane assist failure. The car will be really hard to restart and if eventually will and then everything will disappear and go back to normal. Codes leave and car drives fine until it messes up again. First time it happened was months ago from this report, and then it happened monthly, weekly and now almost daily but only when you try and drive. Very unsafe and there’s no reason cars should stall at high speeds going down interstates!Read more

Incident date: Apr 13, 2026
On April 13, 20026 while traveling on a divided highway at about 70 mph, the car suddenly experienced rapid de-acceleration, similar to if someone slammed on the brakes. At the same time all dashboard warning lights began flashing. The car had failed and couldn't be driven. The Honda dealer in Rochester Minnesota said the turbocharger had failed. This was a very dangerous situation as it posed a
... real risk of being hit from behind by others who were still travelling at high speed while the failed car was dramatically slowing and trying to get off the road. This an unreasonable risk of injury and death not only to the driver and occupants but also to the general public and other nearby drivers and occupants. The Honda dealer in Rochester inspected and repaired the failed turbocharger and flushed the system and oil as required. The charge was $5,042.41 to replace the turbocharger and $736.48 to flush and change with fresh oil. This is without tax. Full invoice is available upon request. The Honda dealer inspected the car. No police report was filed. The car was towed back into Rochester by AAA. There was no warning lamps prior to the incident. The cars maintenance was up-to-date and has only about 60,00 miles. For a [XXX] old car, an engine failure that creates a serious risk of injury or death to the driver and public would suggest a recall is necessary to maintain public safety and make owner's whole. Started driving again and had to sit in roadwork, within 1 minute the car started to overheat again. We pulled into the gas station, checked coolant levels, all fine. We got the car towed to a shop, they looked over the car and told us that coolant had leaked into the cylinders and the head gasket was blown but there was no leak in any of the coolant areas. On 04/15/2026, at approximately 13,130 miles, my 2024 Honda Prologue began making a loud, repetitive clicking, popping, and clunking noise from the front axle area. This mechanical noise is highly pronounced when turning sharply at low speeds, such as pulling out of a parking space or turning at an intersection. I took the vehicle to Delta Honda in Antioch, CA on 04/16/2026. They acknowledged th
... e noise but refused to replace the part, citing Honda's guidance that this issue does not impact normal driving. I am filing this complaint because this is a severe safety defect. The CV joint is a critical drivetrain component, and these symptoms are classic indicators of premature mechanical failure. I am highly concerned that the CV axle could fail catastrophically while driving at higher speeds or in traffic. A structural failure of this component could result in a sudden loss of motive power, wheel lock-up, or a total loss of steering control, putting myself, my passengers, and other motorists at imminent risk of a crash. Honda's failure to provide a permanent, safe remedy for this widespread and known defect is unacceptable.Read more

I took delivery of my new 2024 Honda Prologue in 2024. After driving approximately 2,000 miles, I noticed a clicking noise coming from the front axle area, especially during low-speed turns and parking maneuvers. I first brought the vehicle to AutoNation Honda in Costa Mesa, California, the dealership where I purchased it. They inspected the vehicle and reported finding no issue, so no repairs wer

Their service department diagnosed the clicking noise as originating from both front axles. Both front axles were replaced on October 28, 2025, which initially resolved the problem. However, the identical clicking noise has now returned. As of April 18, 2026, the condition is present again and requires further repair. THIS CONDITION IS NOT SAFE. The vehicle is still under lease with 19 payments remaining. This appears to be a recurring issue with the 2024 Honda Prologue. I own a 2018 Honda Accord EX-L with a 1.5L turbocharged engine. The vehicle began overheating while idling and at low speeds, cooling down when driving at higher speeds. I brought the vehicle to a Honda dealership where a pressure test confirmed internal coolant loss with no external leaks found. The dealership diagnosed a head gasket failure and recommended replacement at a cost of $8,941. The co
... mponent that failed is the head gasket on the 1.5L turbocharged engine, allowing coolant to leak internally into the cylinder. My safety was put at risk as the vehicle overheated while in traffic during normal driving conditions, creating a risk of engine failure, loss of power, and potential fire. The problem was confirmed by a certified Honda dealership via cooling system pressure test. A goodwill request has been submitted to American Honda on my behalf. Warning lights appeared on the dashboard twice indicating to turn the vehicle off immediately due to overheating. Symptoms first appeared in April 2026. I am aware of NHTSA TSB MC-10234626-0001 and an active class action lawsuit Bissell v. American Honda Motor Co. Case No. 3:24-cv-02286 addressing this exact defect on this exact engine.Read more

RE: Unrepaired Recalls associated with this VIN [XXX] Feb 26,2026 Manufacturer Recall NumberXNK NHTSA Recall Number26V-112 My name is [XXX] , I lease a 2024 Honda Prologue. I received a recall and took my car to Crown Honda in St Petersburg, Fl to have it done. I’ve been there 4 times to have it done and it failed 3 of the 4 times. The 4th time, they only did a partial update and told me it was
... complete and are telling me if I want more it’s going to cost me. I discovered they did not perform the Recall update. The paperwork they gave me shows it has to be a USB update. I know from my experience and my background of decades in the computer technology business, that they have minimal experience in that field. I called Honda corporate and they told me it was my problem and to go to another dealer. I’m hoping you may be able to help me out and contact them to get my updates performed. My recall shows it is a serious matter. As of this date and your records confirm, the recall is still incomplete. Issue happens whenever I use adaptive Cruise control for any extended period of time. Typically occurs in less than an hour. The vehicle will be in active cruise mode and then the cruise control will suddenly shutoff and a few beeps are heard. I am unable to reactivate cruise control until I perform a key cycle at which point the cruise can be activated again.
