The vehicle experienced a failure of the steering system, specifically the steering gearbox. The steering intermittently sticks, binds, and resists input, followed by sudden release, causing unpredictable response and difficulty maintaining control. The vehicle also pulls unexpectedly, creating a serious safety hazard, especially at highway speeds. The vehicle is unsafe to operate and is currently
... at a dealership for inspection. Prior to failure, symptoms included increasing steering resistance, inconsistent feel, and intermittent sticking, which worsened over time until the vehicle became undrivable. The issue has been diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized dealership, which determined the steering gearbox requires replacement. The dealership indicated the failure was not due to misuse, damage, or lack of maintenance. There are similar steering-related failures reported in comparable vehicles; however, this vehicle is excluded based on VIN eligibility. Despite similar failure, no recall coverage has been provided. This failure creates a high risk of loss of control and potential crash, with no warning lights or alerts prior to failure. The estimated repair cost exceeds $4,300 including parts and labor. The manufacturer has been contacted, but no resolution has been provided. This failure occurred during normal operation and was not caused by driver input or external damage. The sudden loss and return of steering control creates a dangerous condition that could result in a crash without warning. Given similar reported issues, this warrants investigation into a potential safety defect.Read more

I am writing to open a formal complaint regarding a serious transmission defect in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [XXX] ). ... d a sudden loss of power. I am aware of Case No.XXX (XXX v. American Honda Motor Co.) and Case No. XXX (XXX v. American Honda Motor Co.), which allege that the 9-speed ZF 9HP transmission in my model year suffers from a design defect. These transmission failures create a significant safety hazard. Recently my van report code as transmission system problem the second time. We got mechanic checked and confirmed it is transmission issue. The first time when it happened, we drove the van on highway and suddenly it lose power and slow down by itself. there was no response even we applied gas. We went down highway and drove to a close-by repair shop. they replaced some part for us but it didn't resolve the issue. This time since the error comes, it won't speed up in lower speed except the speed goes beyond 40-50 miles plus. when we back the car, it responses slow or none. it comes with big noise also now. it definitely gets worst. The very common issue when you stop and start to move, it never responses from the beginning even we applied gas, even the passenger can feel the reluctance. it also happens when the van turns. we also had the experience when driving on the highway, it speeded automatically without driver applied the gas. It feels like someone pushing us behind. there was Transmission Control Unit recall for 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey (Touring/Elite). My 2016 Honda Pilot has been diagnosed with engine failure caused by an issue known as "rod knock" by Hudson Automotive in Toledo, OH despite having been cared for quite well. This failure occurred outside the warranty window and there were NO relevant symptoms or warning lights before the sudden failure. After doing some research on Pilot owner online forums, as well as the NHTSA website, it seem
... s a substantial number of similar complaints have been reported, and a recall had been issued for some vehicles in the same year and model under NHTSA campaign number 23V-751. The failures of my engine should be considered in the NHTSA recall number 23V-751, Honda recall number XG1, GG0. In addition, my claim should be considered as part of NHTSA investigation PE25008 which I understand is a current investigation into many reports of connecting rod bearing failures in the 3.5L V6 engine used in numerous Honda vehicles, including the 2016 Honda Pilot. If needed, I can provide an estimate of the work that needs to be completed on my vehicle from Hudson Automotive. I experienced repeated stalling, loss of drive power while on the highway, limp mode, and all dashboard warning lights over several years. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership multiple times and specifically asked whether these symptoms were related to the known fuel pump recall. Each time I was told the recall was not the cause. I was also told recall parts were unavailable or
... delayed. Based on dealership misdiagnoses, I paid out of pocket for multiple repairs including spark plugs and ignition coils which they claimed were the reason for my car acting up, that did not resolve the issue. Among other repairs I did on my own like replace the battery twice and what not. I have since received Honda’s official recall notice confirming that a faulty fuel pump causes the exact symptoms I reported. My vehicle is now completely inoperable it does not start and cannot be driven or transported. I have filed two claims with Honda Corporate, both denied based on mileage. I believe the vehicle’s failure is a direct result of Honda’s failure to address the recall in a timely manner and the dealership’s repeated misdiagnosis.Read more

My 2024 Honda Prologue is experiencing ongoing drivetrain issues that include noise, vibration, clunking, and a binding sensation. These symptoms occur during turning, accelerating, and at low speeds. I brought the vehicle to the dealer, and they inspected it, but they told me there is no solution available yet and advised me to wait. The dealer has not replaced any parts, and the issue contin

Based on widespread reports from other Prologue owners, this appears to be a developing pattern that may indicate a defect in the axle, driveshaft, CV joint, or related front‑end components. I am reporting this so NHTSA is aware of the issue and can investigate.Read more

My 2018 Honda Odyssey began exhibiting intermittent acceleration lag several years before the repair, and the condition progressively worsened. At the time of repair, the vehicle had 68,957 miles. The safety concern occurs when accelerating from a stop, such as at a red light, stop sign, or when merging into traffic. I depress the accelerator normally and the vehicle does not respond. There is a d
... elay where the engine and transmission fail to engage, leaving the vehicle stationary while surrounding traffic begins to move. To compensate, I must press the accelerator further. When the vehicle finally responds, it does so abruptly, causing a sudden surge of acceleration. This creates two safety hazards: (1) loss of control due to the unexpected “kick” when power finally engages, and (2) increased risk of collision when attempting to merge or cross traffic, because the vehicle does not accelerate when expected. I have been honked at by other drivers and have experienced near‑miss situations because the vehicle failed to move when it should have. Owner forums show many similar reports from other ~2018 Odyssey owners describing the same acceleration lag and abrupt engagement. Based on these reports, the commonly recommended fix is a throttle body cleaning and a transmission “teach‑in” procedure. An authorized Honda dealership performed these procedures on my vehicle at my expense (approximately $500–$550). These procedures are not listed in Honda’s factory maintenance schedule, yet appear necessary to correct a drivability issue that presents a safety risk. Given the frequency of similar owner reports and the safety implications of delayed or unpredictable acceleration, this issue may indicate a design or calibration defect in the throttle body, engine air‑management system, or transmission control logic.Read more

I am writing to formally report a recurring and serious mechanical issue involving the head gasket in the 2018 Honda Accord equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine. This issue appears to be widespread and poses both safety and financial concerns for vehicle owners. In my experience, the vehicle began exhibiting symptoms consistent with head gasket failure at relatively low mileage. These sympt
... oms included unexplained coolant loss, engine overheating, white exhaust smoke, rough engine performance, and in some cases misfires. Upon inspection and diagnosis, the root cause was identified as a failed or failing head gasket. This failure is particularly concerning because it occurs prematurely and without warning, despite regular maintenance and responsible vehicle use. A head gasket is a critical engine component, and such failures can lead to severe engine damage, sudden loss of power, and unsafe driving conditions—especially if overheating occurs while the vehicle is in motion. Additionally, the cost of repair is substantial, often ranging from several thousand dollars, placing an unexpected financial burden on owners. Many drivers, including myself, rely on these vehicles for daily transportation, and this defect undermines the reliability that is expected from a modern vehicle. There is growing evidence through consumer reports, online forums, and mechanic feedback that this is not an isolated incident but rather a pattern affecting multiple 2018 Honda Accord 1.5L vehicles. The consistency of these reports suggests a potential design or manufacturing defect related to the engine or head gasket system. Given the safety implications and frequency of occurrence, I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this issue further to determine whether a recall or manufacturer accountability action is warranted. Addressing this defect would help prevent further financial hardship and reduce the risk of unsafe driving conditions for affected vehicle owners.Read more

After Honda Safety Recall 24‑027 (“Replace the fuel pump motor”) was performed on my 2018 Honda Civic Si at an authorized Honda dealership, the vehicle began exhibiting fuel‑system‑related issues that did not exist prior to the recall work. Within one day of the initial recall repair, the vehicle developed hard‑start/extended‑crank behavior. The dealership later reported they had pin
... ched an O‑ring during the recall work and replaced it. Next, I detected a fuel odor. After multiple refueling cycles to isolate the source, I reported the issue, and the dealership replaced an unspecified seal. Approximately one week after that repair, the vehicle developed a rich‑running condition and illuminated the check engine light with DTC P0172. On 2026‑03‑27, the dealership diagnosed the issue as failed fuel injectors and recommended replacement of all injectors, the fuel joint pipe, and associated seals. Their testing showed: EVAP system functioning normally; no induction leaks; MAF swap produced no change; fuel rail pressure at idle ~500 psi; and cylinders 1, 2, and 4 running rich relative to cylinder 3. Because the fuel system was disassembled multiple times immediately before the onset of the rich condition, and because the dealership acknowledged that contamination during recall work could plausibly cause injector malfunction, I am concerned that the post‑recall defect may be related to the recall procedure or subsequent rework. The dealership's alternative rationale was that fuel injector failures are so common on this platform that the failure was coincidental. That would imply the need for a fuel injection system recall. I am submitting this complaint because the vehicle developed fuel‑system performance and emissions issues only after the recall repair and subsequent rework, and the root cause remains uncertain. I request that NHTSA document this case and evaluate whether the recall procedure or related components may contribute to downstream fuel‑system failures.Read more

These conditions present an immediate and severe safety hazard. Honda established a 150,000-mile warranty extension limit for this defect in TSB 21-010. My vehicle has 143,097 miles and is well within this limit. However, American Honda Corporation has arbitrarily refused to repair the vehicle. Furthermore, on April 21, 2026, the assigned Honda Case Manager left a voicemail officially denying the repair. He explicitly refused my repeated requests to provide this denial in writing. In the voicemail, he falsely stated that my vehicle at 143,000 miles is "well outside the range" for assistance, directly contradicting Honda's own written 150,000-mile bulletin. Please review the attached documents, including the official dealership diagnostic report (DTC P219A), the repair estimate, and a copy of TSB 21-010. System/Component Involved: Fuel System / Fuel Injectors / High-Pressure Fuel Joint Pipe Description of Incident and Safety Risk: My 2017 Honda CR-V (1.5T engine) experienced a fuel system failure evidenced by DTC P0172 and a failed AF cylinder test, confirmed by an authorized Honda dealer. This failure leads to engine hesitation and power loss, creating a safety hazard during operation. More cri
... tically, during the repair (Case #16244235), the dealer and manufacturer refused to replace the High-Pressure Fuel Joint Pipe. According to Honda’s official Service Manual and TSBs for the Earth Dreams 1.5T engine, this pipe is a mandatory, one-time-use component that must be replaced whenever fuel injectors are serviced. Reusing this component violates Honda’s own safety protocols and poses a severe fire risk due to potential fuel leakage under high pressure ($20\text{ MPa}$+). Safety Risk to Others: Reinstalling a non-reusable high-pressure fuel line creates a high probability of fuel spraying onto hot engine components, leading to an under-hood fire while driving. This endangers the occupants and others on the road. Reproduction and Inspection: The injector failure was confirmed by [Insert Dealer Name] in Houston, TX. The subsequent safety violation (failure to replace the mandatory fuel joint pipe) is documented on my repair invoice dated April 2026. The vehicle and the old part (if still on the car) are available for inspection. Symptoms and Warning Lamps: The Check Engine Light (DTC P0172) appeared shortly before the failure, accompanied by a strong gasoline odor and engine stalling symptoms.Read more
