We are unable to open the rear exterior doors from the outside of the car. We have confirmed on numerous occassions doors are unlocked and there are no child safety locks on . This is becoming a very dangerous situation. We took it to a local car repair service they said that it would be under NHTSA recall bulletin 19V077000 - however when we call the Continental dealership where we purchased

We called Ford Manufacturer who Sent us to Continental and they too say that our VIN is not included in the recall despite the exact problem happening to us. Seems like everyone want to wait until someone dies because they can't get access to the back seat. This car only has 55000 miles on it and has not been in any accidents. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Read more

The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the cable was outdated and needed to be replaced with an updated cable. The updated cable was sent to the mechanic, who replaced the cable; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to a nearby independent mechanic Empey's Truck & Auto Repair, where the passenger's side door cable was cut, and the door was opened. The contact drove to the residence. The vehicle was taken back to Empey's Truck & Auto Repair by the contact's relatives, and a new cable was installed; however, the failure persisted. I am submitting this statement to report a recurring safety and reliability issue with the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle intermittently displays a “Shift to Park” message when the car is turned off, even though the gear selector is already in the Park position. Due to this malfunction, the vehicle’s system does not fully shut down as intended. As a result, electrical components remain a
... ctive, leading to repeated battery drain and, in some cases, a completely dead battery. This creates an unreliable operating condition and leaves the vehicle unable to start without external assistance. This issue presents both a safety and usability concern. The vehicle may become inoperable without warning due to battery depletion, Drivers may be stranded in unsafe or inconvenient locations, The system’s failure to correctly detect the Park position raises concerns about the reliability of the transmission interlock and shutdown systems. The problem appears to stem from a fault in the gear position detection or related electronic components, rather than user error. The condition persists despite ensuring the vehicle is properly shifted into Park. Given the potential for widespread occurrence and the risk of unexpected vehicle disablement, I respectfully request that this issue be investigated for a possible defect and considered for a recall or service campaign.Read more

The 68RFE automatic transmission in this 2021 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins fails to engage reverse when the transmission reaches operating temperature. When the gear selector is placed in reverse and the accelerator is applied, the engine revs but the truck does not move. The defect is intermittent and temperature-dependent, which means it cannot be predicted or avoided by the driver. The vehicle is used
... to tow an enclosed cargo trailer weighing approximately 7,000 pounds. The safety risk: inability to engage reverse on demand creates a hazard in any situation requiring reverse motion, including backing away from a stopped vehicle, reversing out of a fuel station, backing a loaded trailer at a campground or boat ramp, or executing an evasive reverse maneuver. With a trailer attached, loss of reverse function can leave the truck and trailer stranded in active traffic lanes or at intersections. The defect was first reported to a dealer in August 2023 with diagnostic trouble code P2701 stored (Friction Element B implausible pressure, internal transmission fault). The code was logged but not addressed at that visit. Over the following 32 months the same defect was reported to the same dealer four additional times. On the fourth visit the dealer replaced the complete transmission and torque converter under warranty and certified the repair complete after a documented 77 mile dealer test drive. The same defect returned approximately 4 customer miles after the truck was returned to me. The truck is currently at the dealer for the fifth repair attempt, with the dealer's own write-up confirming that the vehicle will not move while in reverse at operating temperature. The defect has been confirmed by the dealer service department through their own diagnostic process, has been documented across five repair orders, and has resulted in a complete factory transmission and torque converter replacement that failed to resolve the issue.Warning indicators: a P2701 diagnostic trouble code was sRead more

Several complaints can be seen across many different Honda forums that indicate several years including 2018 - 2023 of the Honda Odyssey are affected by similar issues when the front multi-purpose camera fails. Many have reported extreme heat when physically inspecting the camera unit. The ZYNQ XA72030 chip manufacturer, AMD, has listed known issues with this particular chip overheating either due
... to inadequate cooling (this is a passively cooled chip), poor PCB layout, unstable or undersized power supply, all which can result in thermal shutdown. At startup my vehicle dash immediately lit up with several Warning indicating the disablement of multiple systems: LKAS, EBA, ACC, Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure, Automatic High-Beam. In my case, physical inspection revealed the camera outer shell to be extremely hot to the touch necessitating a rag to reduce risk of burn while handling. It's interesting to see that Honda has issues a recall for the back camera which is not tied to many or any other systems at all due to a faulty cable, yet the front facing camera which directly affects Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High-Beam, has not received a recall despite the many complaints brought forth. It is clearly a defective component that affects many other systems which can lead to potential crashes under the right circumstances. I would urge Honda to issue a recall for all Odysseys experiencing multiple systems failure due to a defective multi-purpose camera.Read more

2021 Toyota Highalnder UA80F Transmission Whine / Known Defect - Potential for Sudden Failure I own a 2021 Toyota Highlander Platinum V6 AWD (UA80F 8-speed automatic transmisstion) purchased in July 2021. Current milage is 78k. Starting 3 days ago I noticed a faint whine noise coming from the transmission. The pitch changes with speed and when the throttle is depressed (It's louder under load/ac
... celeration). This matches the exact symptoms described in Toyota TSB T-SB-0008-21 for whine/grind noise caused by the front carrier assembly pinion shaft issues in 2021 Highlanders with UA80 transmissions. On April 27, I went to a Toyota dealer to confirm the source of the noise and diagnose. As per their diagnosis report "Tech took vehicle on road test to duplicate concern, after confirming complaint vehicle was then lifted up and inspected while under a load, tech as able to isolate noise to transmission at this time, fluid level and condition was inspected to ensure there were no signs of shavings or discoloration and after inspection tech found nothing abnormal during fluid level check. Tech then ran a health check to ensure there were no DTC present related to transmission concern and found no DTC present. Recommend replacing transmission and torque converter at this time". They provided a quote of $9,392. This condition represents a safety concern because the internal wear can progress to harsher shifting, loss of power, limp mode, or complete transmission failure while driving, potentially causing a crash or stranding the vehicle in traffic. I have audio/vehicle recordings of the whine and service records showing regular Toyota dealer maintenance. I am requesting the the NHTSA investigate this ongoing UA80 transmission issue as it appears to be a known manufacturing or design defect tat continues beyond the narrow TSB applicability and warranty limits.Read more

When I took the vehicle to BMW for inspection, I was informed that the SRS malfunction was directly related to the prior accident damage. This indicates the issue existed prior to sale and should have been identified and disclosed by the dealership. I promptly notified Parkline Motors. They refused to take responsibility for the SRS safety defect and only offered limited assistance regarding the alarm system. The SRS issue remains unresolved and poses a significant safety risk. Parkline Motors engaged in: •Failure to disclose known material safety defects •Sale of a vehicle in unsafe condition •Negligent or deceptive business practicesRead more

... use the odometer is inoperative, the stated mileage cannot be verified, and the condition existed at the time of sale but was not disclosed. The vehicle was sold in a condition where accurate mileage could not be determined, despite a specific mileage being provided. The failure of the odometer creates a safety concern, as it prevents proper tracking of maintenance intervals, including oil changes, brake servicing, and other critical upkeep. This increases the risk of operating the vehicle with worn or unsafe components, which could lead to mechanical failure while driving. The issue has been confirmed by an independent service center, and documentation is available. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. No prior warnings, indicator lights, or disclosures were provided before purchase, and the defect was identified within one day of ownership.Read more

To whom it may concern. Our 2017 XC90 unexpectedly, spantaneously, and catastrophically caught fire under the hood and was a total loss 5 minutes after parking it on April 19, 2026. There were no leaks or other signs of mechanical issues. The vehicle had all regular maintenance completed at the Byers Volvo Service Department in Columbus, OH. It had no open recalls. It was always parked overnight i
... n a garage. The Fire Inspector noted a possible vehicle manufacturing defect as the cause of the fire, however the vehicle was too heavily damaged to be definitive. We do have video of the entire incident as the Volvo was parked on Federal Government Property at the time. We are happy to share any and all information if this helps future vehicles to be safer. It should be noted that there is an active recall for the 2016 XC90 for a coolant hose leak that can cause a fire. Given that the 2017 XC90 is of the same design. Upon checking the internet and Reddit, it appears that our situation is not unique and there are other instances and reports of similar fires.Read more

My 2021 ID.4 has experienced two separate incidents of sudden, unintended forward acceleration while parking. In both cases, I was maneuvering at very low speeds (less than 5 mph) and transitioning from a stopped position, or from reverse into drive, with the intention to move forward only a few inches. But instead of creeping forward as normal, the vehicle suddenly jerked forward approximately on
... e foot. In the first of two incidents (approx. October 2025), it crashed into the car in front of me. In a second incident (3/14/2026), it crashed into an EV charging station. This is a safety concern and may be related to steering wheel capacitive touch controls, possible unintended activation of adaptive cruise control (ACC) or “resume” function, or erroneous or overly sensitive input from the steering wheel control module. No warning signs or messages appeared prior to the failure. Luckily, no one, including my young children, stood directly in front of the vehicle during either of the incidents; otherwise, they may have incurred serious bodily injury or worse. I was also luckily unharmed in both incidents. I am immediately taking the car to the dealership for a full inspection.Read more
