Hi, yes the component is the CV axle on the driver side front wheel. Whenever I make a left turn, the driver side CV axle makes a clicking noise. Also, sometimes, when I make a right turn, especially when going slower, the same drive side front wheel CV makes a clicking noise. It is available for inspection upon request. The safety seems OK, but we are fearful that is could break and cause an acci
... dent. We brought the the car to the Honda Norm Reeves in Cerritos on April 3rd, 2026, and the dealership told us it was a common issue. And right now there are no parts available for it. It's not a safety issue, so we shouldn't worry about it. So we took them at their word. But we are still nervous about it so which is why we're reporting it. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were not any symptoms of warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to failure.Read more

My 2026 Honda Odyssey was stopped at a traffic light with Auto Idle Stop engaged. When traffic was ready to move, the engine appeared to restart for about half a second and then shut down. The component or system that failed appears to be the Auto Idle Stop / engine restart system, possibly involving the starter, starter relay, battery/charging system, or engine control software. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle unexpectedly failed to restart and became disabled while stopped at a traffic light, creating a traffic obstruction and risk of being struck from behind or causing other drivers to maneuver around the vehicle. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. UNKNOWN whether diagnostic trouble codes were stored. The vehicle/component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure that I noticed. Please find the details regarding the sudden, dangerous failure of my vehicle below. The itemized findings are pulled directly from the dealership’s multi-point inspection and diagnostic report. When was the first time (approximate date) you noticed the issue? The issue culminated in an immediate, hazardous crisis on XXX when the vehicle completely shut down while in operation and refused to re
... start. How often does the issue happen within a time frame (e.g., once a month)? This is a permanent, catastrophic mechanical failure. The engine is completely inoperable and the vehicle is entirely undriveable. What is the name & title of the person(s) assisting you at the dealer? I am being assisted by Victoria Dalessandro at Honda City Long Island in [XXX]. What is the reason/explanation provided by the dealer, as to what caused this issue? Following a formal engine teardown, the dealership confirmed a severe internal failure: a lower engine knock originating from the front connecting rod bearing. This internal component defect completely seized the powertrain, causing the vehicle to shut down and rendering the engine unrepairable. What repairs/services have been completed (if any)? Only the initial teardown and diagnostic inspection have been completed. No repairs will be authorized until American Honda Motor Company, Inc. assumes corporate financial responsibility for this premature powertrain failure. What repairs/services have been suggested? The dealership has stated that a complete engine replacement is required, suggesting a used engine swap ($7,609.92). In conjunction with this catastrophic failure, they have itemized necessary peripheral parts and critical safety wear, including new spark plugs, a replacement drive belt, failed lower control arms ($1,704.28), leaking front struts, degraded stabilizer links, and fluid exchanges. costs estimated for the repair (if any?) Vehicle Information: •Year/Make/Model: [2022, Honda HR-V •VIN (17 digits): [[XXX] •Current Mileage: 22000 Miles Description of Safety Defect: The electronic power steering system suffers from a severe defect causing the steering wheel to seize, bind, and freeze completely locked while the vehicle is in motion. This binding defect causes a sudden, unpredictable loss of steering control, forci
... ng the driver to struggle with the wheel or wait for the system to loosen, presenting an extreme, imminent risk of a motor vehicle crash, injury, or death. Chronological Incident Summary: Over the last six months, the steering wheel on this vehicle has frozen completely while driving on four separate occasions. The incidents occurred under normal driving conditions at varying speeds. During each occurrence, the steering wheel momentarily locked tight, resisting all manual steering input. The vehicle did not provide any electronic warning lights or dashboard errors prior to or during the failures. Control was only regained after forcefully wrestling with the wheel or, in some cases, safely pulling over to restart the vehicle engine. Manufacturer/Dealer Action: The vehicle was taken to an authorized Honda dealership to address this catastrophic safety failure. However, the service department refused to acknowledge the issue, stating they could not replicate the malfunction and declined to perform any diagnostic repairs. Public Context & Recall Relevance: This defect perfectly replicates the failure mode thoroughly documented under NHTSA Recall Campaign 24V744000 for "sticky steering" and binding gearboxes in 2023–2025 Honda HR-V models. Despite widespread online consumer reports and thousands of matching manufacturer warranty claims for the exact same steering gearbox swelling issue, the dealer has failed to provide the necessary remedy. I am filing this complaint because the manufacturer's denial of this known defect leaves an inherently dangerous vehicle on public INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACRead more

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a 2024 Honda Pilot Touring with approximately 46,000 miles. The exact component or system that failed is currently UNKNOWN. My best assessment is that this may involve the electrical system, powertrain, engine control/software system, charging system, Auto Idle Stop system, or another related vehicle control system. The vehicle is currently available for i
... nspection upon request. The vehicle has had intermittent multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard. On June 7, 2026 around 9:00pm, while the vehicle was in Drive, the vehicle shut off/lost power. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle was being operated when the shutdown/loss-of-power event occurred. I am concerned this could happen again while driving, including at freeway speeds or while transporting a child. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle was taken to a Honda authorized dealership for inspection. The dealership advised that the battery tested fine and that no diagnostic trouble codes were found so far. Diagnostics are still pending, and as of this complaint, no confirmed cause, diagnosis, or repair has been provided. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. American Honda Motor Co. has been contacted, and a case has been opened regarding this concern. Warning lamps/symptoms did occur before the shutdown/loss-of-power event. The vehicle had intermittent multiple warning lights on the dashboard before/around the time of the incident. The warning lights first appeared on or around June 3, 2026. The shutdown/loss-of-power event occurred on or around June 7, 2026. I am requesting that NHTSA document this safety issue involving a 2024 Honda Pilot Touring shutting off/loss of power while in Drive with no confirmed diagnosis or repair at this time.Read more

May 15, 2026 - After driving highway speeds for 2 hours on a road trip, the steering wheel started to stick when trying to make small adjustments driving straight. It seemed like it could only move in notches, not glide smoothly. May 17, 2026 - After driving highway speeds for 1 hour, the same thing started happening again and continued for the remaining 2 hours of the trip. May 29, 2026 - After
... driving highway speeds for 2.5 hours, the steering wheel started to stick again but this time I could also hear a little clicking noise every time I made a small adjustment to the wheel that moved it into a "notched" position created by the stickiness. The clunky movements of the steering wheel made me nervous driving on narrow curvy roads. I drove 5 hours one way where it started doing this halfway into the trip and 5 hours back home the same day with it sticking & clicking the entire time as I made minor movements of the wheel. It was not isolated to fast speeds; it continued at slow speeds. June 2, 2026 - The rear tires had been replaced 6 months earlier, so we decided to replace the front tires now to see if that would help resolve the issue. June 4, 2026 - After driving highway speeds at 2 hours, the steering wheel started sticking and clicking again. New tires did not fix the problem. Our destination was 2.5 hours from home. We returned home later the same day with the sticking & clicking starting after about an hour and continuing the rest of the way home. There have been no warning lights or messages related to this problem. June 9, 2026 - We've seen online that there have been recalls on newer model CR-Vs for the EPS gear box. We called our mechanic and described what we're experiencing. He agreed that it sounded like an EPS issue and recommended we report it to NHTSA. Because the issue doesn't surface until at least an hour of driving highway speeds, it's hard to reproduce on demand.Read more

The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) gearbox assembly exhibits a severe binding, catching, and sticky sensation at highway speeds after the vehicle warms up. The steering wheel gets stuck in the center position, requiring constant physical force to break it free to maintain the lane. This results in continuous overcorrection, vehicle weaving, and an inability to track straight, which is easily mist
... aken for poor road or wind conditions but creates a severe lane-drift safety hazard. The issue does not trigger any warning lights or diagnostic trouble codes. Coggin Honda diagnosed the failed unit and found that Honda has revised this specific steering rack part number (53650TBAA03) three separate times (from ending in A00 to the current A03), demonstrating engineering awareness of a component defect that closely mirrors the newer 2022–2025 Honda steering recalls. Note that this vehicle's odometer reads 30,532 miles and this steering issue was felt for some time now and has gotten worse over the years. The problem was officially diagnosed on 6/3/2026.Read more

Description of Safety Defect: The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) / Forward Collision Avoidance system is severely malfunctioning. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has experienced "phantom braking"—abruptly slamming on the brakes for no reason whatsoever. There were no obstacles, pedestrians, or vehicles ahead to trigger the system. This malfunction is happening at high speeds on major high
... ways. Safety Risk and Impact: This issue represents an immediate and terrifying safety hazard. Unexpectedly slowing to a sudden stop at highway speeds completely compromises vehicle control and leaves me at an extreme risk of being rear-ended by high-speed traffic. It is a severe danger to myself, my passengers, and every other driver on the road. While the vehicle is currently subject to a manufacturer recall regarding the backup camera and other software updates, this specific, dangerous braking behavior makes the vehicle incredibly unsafe to operate. I request that the NHTSA review this issue immediately to determine if a broader safety investigation or expanded recall is required for the 2024 Honda Prologue.Read more

My Honda has experienced repeated failures of the front headlamps due to moisture accumulating inside the assembly. In addition the failures of the headlamps caused a fuse to blow rendering the turn signals inoperable. I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda Sensing. The vehicle has repeatedly displayed multiple driver-assistance system failure warnings, including “Adaptive Cruise Control Problem,” “Lane Keeping Assist Problem,” “Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem,” “Road Departure Mitigation System Problem,” and “Auto High Beam Problem.” The warnings initially appeared inter
... mittently and then began recurring. In some cases, the warnings appeared at startup and remained active while driving. When the warnings are present, multiple Honda Sensing safety features are disabled simultaneously. To address a possible low-voltage condition, I replaced the vehicle’s battery with a new battery. After replacement and normal driving, the warnings continued to occur. The issue therefore does not appear to be solely related to battery condition. I also observed clouding and dark spotting within the front Honda emblem that covers the forward radar sensor. The discoloration appears to be inside the emblem assembly rather than on the exterior surface. Because the radar sensor is located behind this emblem, I am concerned that deterioration of the emblem or radar assembly may be affecting the operation of critical safety systems. This failure impacts several safety-related functions, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assistance, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams. The loss of multiple advanced driver-assistance systems creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle’s collision avoidance and lane assistance features become unavailable without warning. I am submitting this complaint to document a recurring failure affecting multiple Honda Sensing safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. The stored codes in the vehicle that I was able to read were P0300, P0303, P0304. This failure bears a striking resemblance
... to that of TSB 21-010, directed at Keihin manufactured fuel injectors, PN: 16010-RLV-315, which was later replaced with updated ...-305 after the failure was determined, and the vehicles were given a 10 year 150,000 mile warranty. The CRV had injector PN: 16010-5PA-305, also manufactured by Keihin, which was also later revised to 06160-..., but the CRV was not given the same warranty extension, suggesting Honda acknowledged the same defect pattern across both injector families but chose not to extend equivalent coverage to the CRV. 21-010 also details that debris from the high pressure pump may contribute, and the CRV experienced the same fuel pump recall for low density impellers that these vehicles did. Honda is also obligated under TSB 98-081 to perform emissions services due to OBD inadequacy, which this vehicle experienced. Misfires were felt for months with no CEL. The Norm Reeves Honda parts catalog classifies injectors as emissions components, implying they should be covered. However, a Honda dealer in CA, mandated by CARB and EPA, refused to do the repairs or make any goodwill attempt on my behalf. I then reached out to American Honda, who delayed assigning a case manager as long as possible, then required phone contact after initially accepting alternate communication methods, then assigned a case manager whose hours conflicted with my stated availability, then assigned a second who has not answered the phone. I am still awaiting a callback. The vehicle has been immobile and in limp mode for the past two weeks while Honda's callback process remains unresolved.Read more

My radio is having ghost taps. It clicks random buttons the whole time the car is on. Goes from radio to CarPlay, turns off my maps, turns off the whole radio, just constantly is making its own clicks. This has been happening for about a year. I can not add videos but would be more than happy to email them.

Premature Head Gasket Failure at 75,000 miles
Incident date: Apr 2, 2026
Our mechanic, Buttons Auto in [XXX], diagnosed the loss of power, misfiring engine and anti freeze in the head cylnder # 3 with code P0304 and his conclusion was a blown head gasket. We took our car to the dealer, Mansfield Motor Group. Buttons also mentioned there was a pending class action suit against Honda for head gasket failure on our model with the1.5 liter motor. Mansfield Motor Group mis
... diagnosed the cars issue and charge us $2100 for the repair. A couple days after we got the car back the problems continued. We took it back to the dealer and they then diagnosed the isuue as head gasket failure. We spent another $4600 to fix the headgasket repair A total of $6100 we spent. We did file a claim with Honda, #XXX, which they denied both times. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I have been waiting for an airbag for my 2018 Honda CRV since November 2025. I have made contact with Honda Motors US Corporate offices 2 months ago and they are failing to give me an estimate as to when my airbag will be sent to my dealership in Chicago. They can not give me any concrete information as to when the part is even going to be manufactured. For the last 3 weeks they have given me zero
... concrete information. They are not providing me with a loaner car. My car has been unusable for over 6 months which is and the customer service representative suggested that I operate the car without an air bag.Read more

I am writing to report a serious safety issue with the radio/head unit in my 2016 Honda Accord. The head unit intermittently fails while I am driving, producing a sudden, extremely loud static noise that continues without stopping until the car is turned off. This issue creates a hazardous driving condition because the unexpected loud static is distracting and disorienting, and it prevents me fro
... m using the car safely until I can safely stop and turn off the vehicle. This failure has occurred repeatedly, and I am concerned that it could cause an accident or prevent me from reacting appropriately to road conditions. I request that the NHTSA investigate this defect in the radio/head unit for the 2016 Honda Accord to prevent potential accidents and injuries.Read more

Then you take foot off break, then turn it off and try again it will start. The dealership ran tests and said everything was fine. When we first

Here is an update to the issue I had raised with your office in March-April 2026: Honda Van Nuys performed the 35,000-mile routine maintenance on the Honda Clarity on February 24, 2026. At that time, Honda Van Nuys recommended (and I approved) that they clean the throttle. The odometer read 33,882 miles. I drove the car 337 miles when the unintended acceleration accident occurred on March 18
... , 2026 – 2.5 weeks after Honda Van Nuys cleaned the throttle. The airbags deployed. The throttle seems to be the part that failed based on the attached EDR report. The odometer read 34,219 at that time. The car is now considered totaled by GEICO. In addition, Honda Van Nuys has done all maintenance work on the Honda Clarity, including some major removal of the dashboard and back seats, since I purchased the car there in 2018, as outlined in the attachment. I have reached out to Honda Van Nuys and hope your office can encourage them to respond. This is a safety issue. The attachment elaborates further.
