I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Summit Reserve which is affected by recalls 78C and 68C. These recalls have no remedy, no timeline, and no clear information from Stellantis. I no longer feel safe driving my daily driver, and the lack of progress has created a serious safety and reliability issue. Stellantis has instructed owners not to recharge the vehicle
... and to park away from buildings or other vehicles. This implies a potential fire risk that many owners cannot avoid, especially those who live in shared parking areas, garages, apartments, or townhomes. This should be treated as a major safety hazard. Stellantis has already attempted software updates and even high voltage battery replacements, but these efforts have not resolved the problem. The fact that previous fixes failed suggests a hardware defect involving the battery system or related components. Stellantis has not provided accurate or transparent information, and owners have no path forward. Because Stellantis advises against charging, the hybrid system cannot be used at all. This eliminates the purpose of the vehicle and increases operating costs. I have spent many hours at dealerships with no solution. Stellantis Customer Care has stated that they will not offer support or compensation and directed me to a third party arbitrator. I respectfully request that NHTSA increase oversight of recalls 78C and 68C, investigate whether Stellantis has properly identified the defect, and determine whether the company is meeting federal recall obligations. I also ask NHTSA to consider whether this situation warrants interim owner compensation or potential buy back evaluation due to ongoing safety risks, failed repairs, and the complete loss of hybrid functionality.Read more

My Jeep Wrangler 4xe has now been subject to multiple high-voltage battery fire-risk recalls, including the current recall that instructs owners to park outside due to a potential battery fire. Because of the repeated nature of the defect, Jeep is refusing to provide a timely resolution or a vehicle replacement/lease termination. What component or system failed: The cylinder head failed due to cracking around the exhaust manifold, resulting in exhaust and coolant leakage. My independent mechanic and the Mazda dealer both confirmed this was the source of the burning smell and engine risk. The failed parts are currently in the possession of the Mazda dealership and available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The fai
... lure created a strong burning rubber smell inside and outside the vehicle while driving. My mechanic advised this type of leak could lead to engine overheating, sudden power loss, or potential fire risk if not caught early. I frequently transport children in the vehicle, and the unexpected engine damage posed a significant safety concern. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed: Yes. The issue was first diagnosed by an independent, certified mechanic and then confirmed by the Mazda dealership, who determined the cylinder head had to be replaced due to premature cracking and leakage. Has the vehicle/component been inspected: Yes. The vehicle has been fully inspected by an independent mechanic and the Mazda dealership service department. The dealership stated the failed cylinder head will be sent to Mazda for engineering review. Were there any warning lamps or symptoms before failure: There were no warning lights or error messages prior to the failure - which is alarming. The only initial symptom was a strong burning rubber smell that began shortly before the diagnosis. No overheating warnings appeared on the dash before the problem was confirmed. Additional context: The vehicle has 40,000 miles, has been fully maintained according to schedule, and is garage-kept. The Mazda service department acknowledged this failure is unusual and premature. Mazda has issued prior Technical Service Bulletins and warranty extensions for similar cylinder head/manifold cracking issues on the 2.5L turbo engine, but no program exists for the non-turbo engine, despite identical symptoms.Read more

See attached document for complaint. Dear Ford Motor Company, NHTSA Officials, and Lindsay Ford of Wheaton: I am the registered owner of a 2022 Ford vehicle, XXXXX. I am in receipt of NHTSA Safety Recall Notice 22S72 (dated November 2025, enclosed herein), which states in part: "Vehicle identification Number (VIN): [partial VIN redacted] ... This recall applies to vehicles which may have a defec
... tive motor assembly that can cause sudden loss of power, stalling, or fire risk while driving. Until parts are available, Ford recommends parking the vehicle outdoors and away from structures." I am terrified to drive this vehicle. The recall explicitly warns of fire risk, sudden power loss, and inability to restart, all life-threatening conditions. Ford admits no remedy is currently available, and the interim instruction to park outdoors is not a fix; it is an admission that the vehicle is unreasonably dangerous. My Legal Rights Under Federal and State Law: NHTSA Authority (49 CFR § 577.5) "The manufacturer shall remedy the defect or noncompliance without charge when the vehicle is presented for remedy." 1. Ford has failed to provide a timely remedy and instead issued a "park outside" advisory, which does not eliminate the hazard. 2. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.) Ford's express and implied warranties of safety and merchantability have been breached. A vehicle that can catch fire or stall without warning is not fit for its ordinary purpose (safe transportation). 3. Maryland Lemon Law / UCC § 2-314 (Implied Warranty of Merchantability) A known fire hazard renders the vehicle defective and unmerchantable. I have a right to revocation of acceptance and replacement or refund. 4. Ford's Own Recall Language The notice states: "If you are not comfortable driving your vehicle, contact your dealer. "I am not comfortable. I am afraid for my life and my family's safety. I am copying the dealership as well. DEMAND FOR RELIEF: Within seven (7) business days of receipt of this letter, I demand: 1. People who saw me when I drove past their houses said they were surprised to hear the crash. And we're very surprised that I was alive and had managed to ooze out right beside the vehicle. I didn't walk away. There was misdiagnosis at the hospital that the ambulance decided on their own to go to. And I was released. No wheelchair, nothing. No medicine. Just go away. My name is [XXX] , and I am formally reporting an unacceptable and irresponsible delay regarding my Ford Mustang Mach-E (VIN: [XXX] ), serviced at Group 1 Ford of Southwest Houston (formerly Sterling McCall Ford). Despite multiple calls and follow-ups, the service department continues giving me the same unacceptable excuse: “We cannot take your vehicle because we do not have a loaner car available.” This is completely unreasonable. This is a recall, and refusal to accept my car due to a lack of loaner vehicles is not my responsibility — it is a failure of Ford and the dealer to provide required support. As a result: •My recall remains unresolved •The paint defect continues to worsen •I have no scheduled service date •I have been told to “wait indefinitely” with no solution This level of customer support is unprofessional, unacceptable, and harmful to the Ford brand. My Demands I request immediate corporate intervention: 1.A guaranteed service appointment without any further delay 2.A loaner vehicle or alternative transportation solution provided by Ford 3.Full repair of the recall and the paint clear-coat defect under warranty 4.Written confirmation of Ford’s next steps if the dealer continues refusing to accept my vehicle If this is not resolved immediately, I will escalate the issue to: •NHTSA (for failure to resolve an active recall), •Texas DMV / Consumer Protection, and •Public consumer platforms. BMW later downloaded the Event Data Recorder (EDR) and confirmed: A frontal non-deployment event Three fault codes in the airbag control module (ACSM) post-crash The crash algorithm activated and reset ΔV reached approx. 12.4 mph longitudinal Forward Collision Mitigation system issued an acute warning 0.5 seconds before impact BMW states the “impulse was not sufficient” to trigger restraint deployment BMW has refused to provide: The deployment thresholds (ΔV criteria) for airbags or pre-tensioners Any engineering explanation for why restraint systems did not activate Any technical rationale for the ACSM fault codes Any escalation beyond Customer Relations All I have been given is an unsigned summary letter and the raw EDR file. BMW Customer Relations stated that engineering is “not customer-facing” and that no additional information will be provided. This leaves serious concerns that: The restraint systems did not function properly in a real-world impact. BMW is refusing to disclose the engineering basis for its conclusions. Consumers may be at risk if this is a repeatable failure mode. I am requesting NHTSA review this incident as a potential defect in the airbag, pretensioner, and/or crash-sensing system in the 2025 BMW X5. I can provide the EDR report, photos, BMW’s letter, and full correspondence upon request. In low temperature conditions. Typically under 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the brakes will produce a high pitch grind/squeal noise. It’s a very concerning voice. Dealership says it’s normal, but there is no way it can be.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The A/C compressor seal may be leaking under certain conditions. The component is available for inspection by an authorized Honda dealer or service center. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If the compressor fails completely while driving in hot weather, the lack of air condit
... ioning can cause discomfort and distraction to the driver, potentially increasing risk of unsafe driving conditions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The issue has not been reproduced, but Honda has issued an extended warranty for this known problem. A dealer in Puerto Rico stated that action is only needed if the system fails completely. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The component has not been formally inspected yet; the dealer only provided a verbal assessment. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps or messages appeared. The system is still operational but may exhibit leakage over time. What happened? In your own words, tell us what happened. The vehicle is a Honda CR-V Touring 2021. I received a notice regarding an extended warranty for the A/C compressor seal. When visiting a dealer in Puerto Rico, they stated that the issue only requires action if the A/C fails completely. I am reporting this because the extended warranty indicates that any potential leakage should be inspected and addressed, and I want the vehicle properly checked to ensure the compressor seal is not failing.Read more

TPMS Failure After IPMA Replacement – “After the dealership replaced the IPMA module on Nov 14, 2025 to address repeated ADAS system failures (BLIS, Cross-Traffic, Pre-Collision Assist, Park Aid, Front Camera Fault), the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) immediately stopped functioning. The FordPass app shows all four tire sensors missing (‘—’) and permanent ‘Tire Pressure Data D
... elayed’ warnings. This occurred while the vehicle remained in the shop for over 40 days with unresolved ADAS defects. The TPMS failure adds another safety-critical issue following a repair that already failed. This indicates escalating electronic instability and confirms the vehicle is unsafe and unreliable.”Read more

While driving my 2015 Kia Optima (VIN: [XXX] ) at highway speed, the engine suddenly shut off without any warning lights, alerts, noises, or check-engine indicators. This created a dangerous situation for me and surrounding drivers. The vehicle had passed state inspection only 3 months earlier with no issues. The sudden shutdown is consistent with the known Theta II engine defect investigated by N
... HTSA. The car is now completely undrivable. Two Kia dealerships refused to assist, claiming that they cannot perform KSDS because the engine is already dead. These reasons directly contradict the Kia Theta II engine settlement terms. This sudden stall is a safety hazard and could have caused a severe crash. I am requesting that NHTSA review this incident as a potential recurrence of the engine-stall defect already documented in Hyundai/Kia vehicles. The rear backup camera in my 2020 GMC Terrain failed. I first noticed and noted that the image was 'cloudy' on 5/3/2023, and it became very bad by 1/22/2024. On 7/1/2024, the image stopped working completely, replaced with a blue screen on the dashboard screen. I ordered a new camera and replaced it myself on 8/1/2024. Because the dealership did not mention any safety effects or recalls, and
... instead quoted me a very expensive repair estimate, and the vehicle was out of its 3 year warranty, I assumed it was my responsibility to repair this feature. However, I have seen recent news articles where other vehicles have been recalled by NHTSA for similar problems with backup cameras.Read more
