For the first time I purchased a brand new vehicle off a dealership lot…What a mistake. While the dealership itself was an awful experience I thought it was worth it for a Chevy Silverado. After all my previous one was so reliable. WRONG. The first issue I found was I was unable to shift into reverse to back out of the driveway of a fire station I volunteer at. After driving forward a couple tim
... es and shutting the vehicle off and shifting multiple times I had to be towed out in reverse. I was able to drive home but the transmissions slipped once and the vehicle slowed abruptly. The check engine light was now on. I dropped the vehicle off at the dealership over the weekend and on Monday they called and informed me the 2024 Silverado misfired once and nothing was wrong with the transmission. There was nothing they could do. About two months later I was driving to work as a career firefighter/paramedic when my vehicles check engine light came on and a message informed me that I was in “reduced acceleration mode”. I slowly and carefully made my way to work and brought the truck to the dealership after my shift. The check engine light was now on again. They informed me later that day that I had a faulty valve body in my transmission. They “unfortunately” could not give me a completion date on my repair as they had no ETA for the replacement part. It appears the part is in high demand. This makes sense as a quick google search shows this is a widely known issue with the 10 speed transmission. So far I have been unable to get a rental vehicle between the dealership and GM. Aside from my house my 2024 Silverado is the largest purchase of my life. And at 15,000 miles I am without it for the foreseeable future. As a first responder the communities I serve depend on me to respond from home at any hour. My family and I are living in a DIY renovation while also starting a farm business. I need a dependable vehicle and regret spending $53,000 on a new vehicle. I have more to say.Read more

We had snow this afternoon and my wife drove the car home from work. We live on a private road and have a steep driveway. I had her park the car in the road while I plowed the driveway. There was only 1-2” of snow on the ground. My wife existed the car. It appeared to be off and in park meaning the engine was not running and the car sat still on a grade. In hindsight, I should have had her
... set the park brake. My wife went down to her house taking her key with her. I was plowing the driveway. The car had been sitting still on the road for at least 15 minutes. When I was plowing, I had the other key in my pocket. When I got next to the car while still operating my plow, I noticed the taillights came on. Next, the car began rolling down the hill on its own. Nobody was in the car. I was chasing the car. I noted the rear tires were rolling. They were not sliding. The car contained to roll forward then veered towards the side of the road that has a steep ditch. The car then slide sideways down the embankment and stopped at the bottom of the hill. Fortunately, the car did not rollover. Had it been dry and now snow, I think it would have rolled over sideways due to the steep pitch but instead it slid in the snow. I think I was lucky and there is no significant damage but I have not fully retrieved the car out of the ditch yet. I suspect the car was in the start stop mode and possibly my wife did not put into park before exiting the car but this could be easily done since it has the push buttons shifter and the engine was off. Not sure if this is what happened, it’s just speculation. This could have been much more serious if this happened with other people or cars around.Read more

My vehicle experienced failure of both the driver-side DRL (Daytime Running Light) and the passenger-side front turn signal within a short period of time. On this model year, both components are part of a sealed LED headlight assembly with no replaceable bulbs. The only repair option is full headlight assembly replacement, quoted at $800–$1,200 per side plus labor. This is a safety issue becaus
... e front DRL and turn signal failure reduces vehicle visibility to oncoming traffic. Online reports show numerous other 2021–2023 Durango owners experiencing the same problem with the LED DRL/turn-signal assemblies, suggesting a pattern of premature failure. Stellantis has also faced known issues with sealed LED lighting on the Durango’s ‘racetrack’ taillight assemblies, indicating a broader LED reliability issue on these vehicles. I am requesting NHTSA review this as a potential safety-related defect, as owners are forced into high-cost headlight replacements due to non-serviceable LED modules failing early.Read more

My Jeep has had 3 PTU replaced in its life, the third one has failed and I'm now left either putting in a 4th or junking it, either way I take a loss. The 2nd PTU failed over a long period of time, the 3rd PTU failed a week past my 1 year warranty coverage and it did so abruptly. I have written in before regarding this vehicle but I write again due to the danger of this failure. The PTU rattled,
... grinded before seizing all tires and motion. I was lucky by myself and my child wasn't present and that I wasn't on the interstate (had gotten off moments before it failed) and in a quiet neighborhood. I lost all momentum forward even giving it gas. Had I stopped abruptly on 380, going 60 mph... I would have rolled the vehicle or another would have rear ended me and I might not be here today. When my father and brother arrived on the scene we had to push it while I laid on the gas to unlock the wheels and then delicately maneuver it closer to the curb. The grinding occurs in both neutral and drive. There were no warning lights, no prior indication of failure. Insurance doesn't cover this because I wasn't in an accident either time, there are no warranties left, I still owe on my vehicle and repairs will cost more than the vehicle is worth. I was quoted $9,000 to have it replaced plus no ETA on when they could get the part in. Not only can I not afford to replace at that cost vs vehicle value, I wouldn't have mode of transportation for who knows how long. I missed the original manufactures recall by months, yet my vehicle has had more PTU's than one should ever have. If I could get a message back regarding this situation, ASAP that would be great.Read more

Assessment of Ongoing Mechanical & Safety Issues – 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer To Whom It May Concern, I am providing a clear, factual assessment of the ongoing issues with my 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which I purchased for $108,000 and have owned for less than two years. During this time, I have experienced twelve separate mechanical and functional failures, several of which have rendered the ve
... hicle undriveable for prolonged periods. Below is a summary of the major issues that continue to impact the reliability, safety, and usability of this vehicle. 1. Seat / Massage Mechanism Defect (Ongoing for Months) A malfunction in the seat massage system has created a large, hard protrusion in the driver’s seat. This defect has resulted in significant back pain, requiring both urgent care and follow-up medical evaluation. I have now been diagnosed with sciatica, which my physician has indicated is likely related to prolonged pressure and improper spinal support caused by the seat malfunction. Two dealerships have confirmed the issue and ordered the replacement part months ago, yet the part delivery has been repeatedly delayed, most recently to January 6, 2026. This has affected my ability to safely and comfortably operate the vehicle, and has now escalated into a documented medical issue. 2. Suspension Noise During Auto-Leveling The vehicle’s air suspension system produces extremely loud noises during auto-adjustments. This raises concerns regarding the safety and structural integrity of the suspension system. 3. Window Hinge Failure A window hinge has prematurely failed, requiring service intervention. This is not consistent with typical wear for a vehicle less than two years old. 4. Cruise Control Malfunction The cruise control system intermittently ceases functioning while driving. The only way to restore it is to turn the vehicle off and restart it, which presents a safety concern when traveling at highway speeds. This points to a possible electrical orRead more

My 2017 Kia Sorento is experiencing significant engine issues, including excessive oil consumption and ongoing oil leaks. Now the dealership claims the engine is not covered and wants $5,000 for a replacement, despite previously stating testing could qualify me for a free engine. This appears to be a common issue with Kia GDI engines and a safety concern due to risk of engine failure and fire. I believe Kia is improperly denying required testing and coverage, and I request NHTSA review this pattern. Approximately two weeks before the major symptom appeared, the “Service 4WD” warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle’s performance didn’t seem to be noticeably affected, so I checked for any active recalls or service bulletins but found none that applied to my VIN. I monitored the situation closely in case it was an electrical or sensor-related issue. Shortly after, a loud

After arriving home, I immediately stopped driving the vehicle due to serious safety concerns and contacted my mechanic. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the transfer case (Power Transfer Unit) had failed and required replacement. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem in 2019 Jeep Cherokees. After researching, I found many other reports of similar failures, all traced to transfer-case defects. However, my VIN is not currently included in any recall. I believe this defect is related to known issues affecting Jeep Cherokee transfer cases and should be investigated further by NHTSA. I respectfully request that NHTSA open or expand an investigation into transfer case and PTU failures on 2019 Jeep Cherokee models to determine whether a recall and reimbursement for repairs are warranted.Read more

The 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid is experiencing a recurring safety failure of the Front CV Axle Shafts. The vehicle exhibits violent, uncontrollable shaking of the front end during acceleration at highway speeds (40–65 MPH). This severe vibration compromises vehicle stability and steering control, creating a significant safety risk during merging or overtaking maneuvers. The vehicle was previously
... repaired for this exact issue by an authorized Ford dealer on May 30, 2024 (at ~32,000 miles). However, the failure has recurred 18 months and 33,000 miles later. Inspection of the current failed parts reveals that during the 2024 warranty repair, the dealership installed obsolete, superseded part numbers (Series "NZ", specifically NZ67-3B436) instead of the updated, corrected design (Series "SZ") released by Ford to fix this known defect. Because the dealership replaced defective parts with the same defective/superseded design, the safety hazard has returned prematurely. The defect was previously confirmed by a dealer technician. The current failure is confirmed by visual inspection of the part labels showing the obsolete "NZ" code. No warning lights appeared prior to failure; the symptom is immediate mechanical vibration under load.Read more

My brand-new 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring AWD came equipped from the factory with Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus all-season (M+S) tires. These tires exhibit dangerously low traction at very low speeds on normal packed snow and light ice typical on California’s Hwy 80/Tahoe corridor. On Fri Jan 3rd, the vehicle repeatedly lost traction, slid sideways, and struggled to accelerate from a
... stop on mild winter conditions where M+S tires are expected to provide adequate traction—particularly on an AWD SUV. This occurred at speeds under 10 mph on roads where other vehicles with M+S tires had no difficulty. The issue appears to be abnormally poor winter performance that is inconsistent with what is typical for M+S all-season tires. This raises concern about a possible tread compound defect, hard rubber compound, or manufacturing inconsistency with this specific Ecopia batch or production run. California law (Caltrans chain controls) considers AWD vehicles with M+S tires acceptable for winter operation without chains under R1 and often R2 conditions. These tires fail to meet this expected level of basic winter safety, even though they are legally marked M+S. Honda informed me that these tires are “not intended to be driven on snow and require chains,” which contradicts how M+S-rated OEM tires are used statewide and raises concern that the tire may not be performing to federal Mud & Snow design standards. This appears to be a safety defect affecting traction, stopping, and control of the vehicle during normal winter operation. A tire inspection or compound evaluation may be needed.Read more

Let me Preface this with, my Make, Model, and year for these problems have been recalled back in 2021, however I was not the owner then and my VIN was not listed as an affected vehicle i guess, nonetheless the problem is exactly the same as experienced by those that were listed on the recalls in the past. ... 5 after a summer rain in so. cal, I was a couple blocks from home running errands and after being stopped at a light, i began to accelerate and felt like the vehicle was loosing power, I made it home but definitely not able to go the speed limit and once i got home I couldnt shift it into any gear and the vehicle would not turn off. So I had to remove the fuses under the hood, I left them out for a few hours and let the car sit off in my garage during that time. I later came back put the fuses back in and then the car wouldnt turn over. I had it taken to the dealership by AAA and thats when i first learned of the sunroof leak, I contacted Volvo Headquarters and got no help and explained all of the same to the service dept at the dealership working on my car. Long story short the dealership allegedly found water under my interior carpet which obviously damaged modules, I am still paying on that repair. Fast forward to October 2025, same thing all over again only this time the dealership tells me essentially its on the house, however they had my car 3 weeks and did no repairs only got water out of it once again and “brushed off some corrosion”. When I pick it up, it immediately starts funny, i turn the car off and walk right back into the service dep t& raise my concern, to which i was told they had no problem with a hard start up, and we go out to my car & it starts up fine, so i leave 4 days after I got my car back, the check engine light comes on, & immediate warning of reduction of engine power & sure enough thats what it did. today it enters safety mode & wont startRead more

The panoramic sunroof front glass on my 2018 Nissan Murano shattered unexpectedly while I was driving on the highway. Fortunately, I had the interior sliding sunshade closed, which prevented the shattered glass from falling directly onto me. The explosion sound was extremely loud — at first, I thought there had been a collision nearby or that a tire had blown out. However, I immediately felt hea
... t and airflow inside the car, and I could hear the shattered glass movement on top of the closed interior shade. That’s when I realized something happened to my sunroof. I immediately took the next exit and pulled over to inspect the damage. There was a large hole in the sunroof and shattered glass sitting right on the interior sliding sunshade. If the sliding interior shade had been open, the glass could have caused me serious injuries. Additionally, the shock from the explosion could easily have caused me to swerve and create a dangerous accident on the highway. I also have no way of knowing whether glass fell onto the highway or struck other vehicles, which is hazardous to others. There were no construction zones, trucks, or any visible road hazards at the time of the incident. I later learned that there is a class-action lawsuit involving Nissan panoramic sunroofs for this same issue — catastrophic glass shattering allegedly caused by the use of tempered glass — and my model and year appear to be included. I filed a claim with my insurance company, brought the vehicle to Nissan dealership, and had the sunroof replaced. My vehicle repeatedly fails to recognize the key fob even when it is in my hand or inside the vehicle. During the first of these failures, I called the dealership because I was stranded and needed immediate assistanc

They also advised me not to use the door-handle lock/unlock button and to use only the fob buttons. This temporarily restored function, but a new vehicle should not require a manual reset procedure to start and operate normally. On two separate occasions, this problem also triggered the vehicle alarm, which was extremely difficult to silence. This does not happen every time, making the vehicle unreliable. One incident occurred while transporting special-needs children and an elderly passenger, and removing them from the vehicle to perform the reset was difficult and unsafe. The dealership later ran diagnostics and found no fault codes. I also replaced the key fob battery, but the issue continues. I have seen other owners online describing the same key-recognition failures, indicating that I may not be the only person experiencing this. This is a safety concern because the vehicle can fail to start without warning, and the alarm activation increases confusion and stress. The issue remains unresolved.Read more

My [XXX] son pulled the seatbelt so tight it got wrapped around his neck. When I pulled over to unbuckle it, it was stuck. I turned the car off and on again to try and loosen it, but it didn't work. In the emergency, I had to cut the seatbelt with scissors. It's the passenger seatbelt in the second row, next to the window. I reported the incident to Kia in Puerto Rico by phone. They never called

I was driving and my car just shut down. Thank goodness I was only in a drive thru because my car was still in gear. I got it restarted and it was making a terrible noise. I took it to hyandai where they told me that I had a piston slap. Hyandai corporate knows that this is a problem. I am lucky to have not been on the highway it could have caused serious injury or death to me or anyone around me.
... Hyandai corporate should replace the engine that they know is bad or if someone has had it replaced they should be reimbursing. Them. It's dangerous the 1.8l 4-cylinder nu engine.Read more

In October 2025, the center display screen in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid began shutting off repeatedly while the vehicle was in motion. The screen controls essential functions including speed information, navigation, backup camera, safety alerts, and hybrid system data. When it shuts off, all of these features become unavailable without warning. The failure is intermittent and continues to reoc
... cur. The component involved is the center display/infotainment system and may affect related radar and safety-system warnings. The dealer stated they duplicated the issue and reported that it was repaired, but the same display failure occurred again afterward while I was driving. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when the screen shuts off, I lose access to critical vehicle information. This has happened at highway speeds, including one instance where the display shut off approximately eight times within 20 minutes. In addition, the radar warning system has activated when no nearby vehicles were present, creating distraction and uncertainty. The problem has been reproduced by the dealership, documented by me on video, and reported to the manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Hyundai service center and reviewed by the manufacturer’s customer service department. There have been no police or insurance inspections because the defect has not resulted in a crash, though the safety risk is significant. Warning symptoms include intermittent radar system alerts appearing without surrounding traffic. These symptoms began in October 2025 and have continued even after dealer repairs. The display failure persists and the vehicle remains unsafe to operate. P.S. I cannot upload video evidence as the website would not allow me and I have to start over.Read more
