The power liftgate on my 2024 Toyota Sequoia intermittently fails to close using the automatic function. When pressing the close button (either on the liftgate or key fob), the system beeps twice and does not initiate closing, requiring manual force to shut the liftgate. Additionally, the pinch sensor appears to malfunction, falsely detecting an obstruction when none is present. This creates an i
... nconsistent and unreliable operation of the liftgate system. This issue presents a safety concern because the liftgate may not properly secure while driving, increasing the risk of it opening unexpectedly. Furthermore, the failure of the pinch sensor system raises concerns about potential injury, especially to children or passengers, if the sensor does not function correctly during operation. The issue occurs intermittently and has been difficult for the dealership to permanently resolve. This appears to be a broader defect rather than a one-time failure.Read more

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding a **2017 Kia Sorento SXL** equipped with a **3.3L Lambda V6 engine**, which experienced **sudden and catastrophic engine failure** at approximately **137,000 miles**. Prior to failure, the vehicle exhibited **progressively worsening engine knocking and vibration**, indicating internal engine damage. Despite these warning signs, the failure occurred **a
... bruptly while driving at highway speed**, resulting in a **sudden loss of power**. This incident created an **immediate safety hazard**, as I was traveling in active traffic and was forced to quickly maneuver to avoid surrounding vehicles. The unexpected loss of propulsion significantly increased the risk of a collision. The nature of the failure appears to be consistent with **internal engine component failure (such as connecting rod bearing failure)**, which is not typical for a properly maintained modern engine at this mileage. Importantly, my vehicle was manufactured in **November 2016**, placing it within an early production period for this engine. There is evidence from technical service information and consumer reports suggesting a **pattern of premature internal engine failures** in this engine family, particularly involving **rod bearing wear leading to catastrophic failure**. This raises concern that the issue may represent a **systemic defect** rather than normal wear and tear. I am concerned that other vehicles with this engine may experience similar failures **without sufficient warning**, potentially resulting in dangerous driving situations, especially at highway speeds. I am requesting that NHTSA: • Review this incident as a **potential safety-related defect** • Evaluate whether similar complaints exist involving the **3.3L Kia Lambda V6 engine** • Determine if an **investigation or recall** is warranted I am able to provide supporting documentation, including maintenance records, diagnostic findings, and repair estimates upon request.Read more

For approx. the last 12-18 months, I have experienced "sticky steering" during every drive. The "sticky" feeling becoming worse as the speed of the vehicle increases. There is a recall on 2023-25 CR-V EPS Grbx Greasing Saf Rec, but not on 2019 Honda CR-V's. I took my CR-V to the Honda dealer who was able to experience the steering issue of our CRV and was quoted $3,987.65 for the repair plus $1
... 69.00 for an alignment which is required for such repair. This issue is a huge safety concern. In researching the "sticky steering" issue, it appears to be a common issue with 2019 Honda CR-V's and should, in my opinion, be considered for recall. Due to the cost of the repair, I contacted Honda Corp. to request assistance with this repair. My case with denied because 1) my vehicle is out of warranty, 2) I didn't get my maintenance items done at a Honda dealership (which I don't know what an oil change has to do with the steering), and 3) this vehicle is the only Honda I've owned, which is incorrect as this is my 3rd Honda (2006 Accord, 2009 Civic and 2019 CR-V). I corrected the case manager about this being my first Honda (no comment was made by the case manager acknowledging his incorrect information or my loyalty as a 3-time Honda owner), questioned him why maintenance items would be a factor with a steering issue (case manager said it was a loyalty thing on my part by having maintenance done at Honda), and asked if I could appeal his decision. I was told no reconsideration would be given on my case. I am making this compliant because this is a safety issue and also a common issue on this year, make and model. I am hopeful if enough compliants are filed that Honda will be forced to consider this a recall item. Until them, I am left to figure out a way to pay for this costly repair on my own.Read more

While driving less than one mile from my residence, my 2014 Jeep Cherokee suddenly displayed a warning related to shifting, followed immediately by a complete loss of engine power. The sudden loss of power creates a serious safety hazard, particularly given the lack of warning and potential for this to occur in higher-speed traffic conditions. This issue appears consistent with known problems involving the transmission wiring harness and shifting system in this vehicle model. Immediate investigation and corrective action are warranted to prevent potential accidents or injuries.Read more

I am filing this complaint regarding Hyundai Motor America's failure to complete a vehicle repair in a timely manner on my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (VIN: [XXX] ), which has been at Hyundai of Leander, an authorized Hyundai service center in Leander, Texas, since September 2025 — more than six months — awaiting a replacement high-voltage battery. (Case No. XXX) I purchased this vehicle in Septembe
... r 2025 from Apple Sport Imports in [XXX] . The vehicle was sent immediately to Hyundai of Leander for an open repair and I never took full delivery. I was informed the replacement battery was initially allocated to a different dealership and a new order could not be placed until approximately January 2026. As of March 2026, Hyundai's own case manager confirmed in writing on March 30, 2026 only that they are working to determine the battery's arrival date with no confirmed completion date provided. Since November 2025, I have made 5 monthly payments of $513.92 totaling $2,569.60 on a vehicle I have never driven, with a sixth payment of $513.92 due in April 2026. I am also flagging a potential records discrepancy for NHTSA's awareness. When I checked my VIN on Hyundai's recall lookup website, Recall 272 — covering an ICCU software update, fuse replacement, and ICCU replacement on 2022-2024 MY IONIQ 5 vehicles — is listed as a Closed Campaign with a completion date of October 24, 2025. My vehicle was physically at Hyundai of Leander awaiting parts on that date and remains there today. I do not know whether this recall is related to the current open repair, but I am flagging the potential discrepancy for investigation. When I raised this with Hyundai of Leander's service department, I received no clear explanation. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Hyundai Motor America's recall fulfillment practices and the accuracy of their recall completion records for this vehicle. ... . The rearward motion continued despite active acceleration input. This behavior is not consistent with normal rollback on an incline. The continued backward movement under acceleration indicates a possible issue with transmission engagement, gear recognition, or electronic control systems. I reported the issue to an authorized Mazda dealer. I was informed that shifting the gear too quickly may cause a delay in system response, resulting in the vehicle behaving as though still in Reverse. I consider this explanation unacceptable for a modern automatic vehicle and indicative of a potential defect. This condition presents a safety risk. Unintended rearward movement while in Drive could lead to collisions, especially in situations involving other vehicles, pedestrians, or objects behind the vehicle. Although the issue has not reoccurred since that day, the intermittent nature raises concern about reliability and the potential for recurrence without warning. I request that this issue be investigated as a potential safety defect.Read more

My 2016 Hyundai Genesis started flashing a code stating “Check PSB” only a week after buying the car. PSB means Pre-active Seat Belt. The seat belts somehow interlink with the fuel pump. My car has a faulty fuel pump module, causing the PSB warning to flash, even when the vehicle is in motion. It also causes a loud humming coming from the rear of my car, as I accelerate. I’ve done research,
... and it says MANY owners of the same vehicle report the faulty fuel pump module as the culprit, causing the Check PSB. As well as many owners online stating their vehicle has done the same as mine. There is active recalls on the newer years for this issue, such as the 2023. When the same issue is reported multiple times on the 2016s too, there should be a recall. This is a common issue, & quite frankly a dangerous one. If the fuel pump module is miscommunicating with the seat belts, that could cause them to not react in a collision. I have my vehicle scheduled to be serviced in a few days.Read more

The CV Axle joint has prematurely worn down and makes a popping sound when executing a sharp turn at low speeds. Honda is aware of the issue and has noted that it is widespread; however, they have offered no solution for fixing it.

My transmission completely failed. It has been diagnosed by an auto body shop. It is available for inspection upon request. It has not been inspected by any of the named above. One day it was fine; driving normal, no erratic behavior. The next day the transmission starts slipping gears, shifting harshly, car shaking, and getting stuck in gear. Driving with my car acting up, having to pull over and
... turn the car off and back on just to try and get the transmission under control; which didn’t work. My check engine light didn’t even come on until AFTER my transmission completely failed. I have been without my car since February 2nd 2026 because I simply cannot afford to have my vehicle repaired. I bought a Toyota because of the reliability; but now I regret it.Read more

Multiple warning lights were turning on then turning off in their own, typically 2-3 days later. However while on, all ADAS showed errors and did not work. Most recent time, had an elevation changed (over 6000 ft), lights came cascading on parked safely. Next morning, car would not accelerate/was extremely jerky. Turned off waited turned back on, while lights were on car felt to be running fine.
... Slightly off sounding idle. DTC showed multiple misfires and error codes with a recommendation to replace fuel injectors. Dealer was surprised given relatively low milage (109000 miles) for this issue to occur.Read more

While reading the instruction manual I noticed that in the forward facing section on page 40 it never instructs you to lock the seatbelt. This could obviously cause serious injury if a caregiver does not already know they are supposed to. You would also technically not be following the manual if you do lock it, since the manual never tells you to. Model number- CC254-FMA4 Side note- I used the in

Gas Motor is not engaging to assist electric drivetrain on a hybrid AWD 2025 Santa Fe. This resulted in a dangerous situation crossing a busy road from a stop sign. The Santa Fe rolled into the intersection at the drivers request, but did not accelerate normally (only to a maximum of a few miles per hour) and felt like an eternity to cross the road. Fortunately oncoming drivers from left and right
... were paying attention and slowed down and in one case honked aggressively to point out we driving badly. Pulling over to the side of the road, turning the vehicle off and then back on again has sometimes made it run normally, but we limited our trips at that point to first getting safely home and then delivering it to the dealer. The 20 mile drive to the dealer required pulling over twice to reset the vehicle so the electric motor would assist. We have had repeated warnings from the onboard system including "Follow up checks required - Engine Management System" and "There may be a problem with the engine management system Contact your Dealer". I will note that we have 11,000 miles and 11 months experience with the vehicle with NO problems. It may not be relevant, but these new faults began 2 days routine service for oil and tire rotation when recall was performed including ECU Software Update for Recall 25-01-028-1. Dealer is uncertain of problem and referring with outside tech assistance from Hyundai but we were told to expect 2 weeks for parts and repair and uncertainty as to whether that would fix it. In the meantime a vehicle with unreliable acceleration and top speed is unsafe and parked. I do note on this NHTSA website 2025 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HYBRID SUV AWD that there are 47 Complaints. 9 relating to this problem all beginning October 2025 and none prior back to the first post of Nov 2024 for this model. Complaints similar to this for engine management and speed and power loss account for 50% of complaints for this vehicle on the NHSTA website since October 2025.Read more
