Steering is intermittently difficult, requires greater effort, steering wheel sometimes makes noise when turning tight at low speeds. Unexpected periods of difficulty in steering make it harder to control the vehicle, affecting safety (personal and others). Independent service center could not find evidence of a problem; they focused on other components. No other agencies have been contacted or
... have inspected the vehicle. The Service Power Steering message appeared and also the related warning icon while driving on a winding local road. These disappeared the next morning upon starting the vehicle and the message was not saved in Stored Messages by the vehicle. This is why the service center rep said there was no evidence of a problem. The message and warning icon reappeared a week later under similar conditions and this time they were photographed on the dashboard while the vehicle was parked and still running. After arriving at destination, shutting off vehicle, and restarting an hour later, the message and warning icon were again gone. Underlying problem may still be there. Upon researching, there are numerous documented problems with the Ram 1500 electric power steering rack over model years 2013-2024.Read more

My vehicle continues to experience "unintended left turn signal activation" after making a right hand turn and the left turn signal activates spontaneously. I followed up on 4/14, I was told a software update went out on 4/9 and now they were unable to duplicate the issue. I agreed to take the vehicle again, where the issue immediately persisted upon exit of the parking lot; I immediately returned and was able to recreate the issue with a Ford employee in the vehicle. I do have video of the issue happening on 4/14. I also have video from the Ford chat stating this is a safety issue however I have been unable to upload them to the complaint.Read more

I leased a 2026 Electric GV70 from Genesis in June 2025. In January of 2026, when driving the car I got a warning sign to stop the vehicle and check the battery supply. At that point, the car went into sever power reduction and would only go 20 MPH or so. After 20-30 minutes, the car completely shut down and became inoperable. Luckily, I was near home and was able to get my car home. I had to have
... the vehicle towed on wheels as it was completely frozen to the dealership. They diagnosed it as a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). They replaced the ICCU but identified other issues that to this day are unresolved and my car is still in the shop. These cars were subject to a recall for ICCU failure but only to model year 2025. These ICCUs are continuing to fail on the 2026 models, and at an alarming rate. The head of service at the dealership told me they were dealing with "hundreds" of ICCU failures on Hyundai/Genesis vehicles. If I had been on a highway traveling at higher speeds and the car suddenly lost almost all power and would only drive for another few miles before completely shutting down, it would have created a dangerous situation. These cars need to be recalled - again. Hyundai/Genesis clearly dont know how to make electric cars/battery packs that work and should be held accountable. I believe they are downplaying this situation due to the prior recalls/class action lawsuits and dont want to experience further reputational damage.Read more

Since purchasing my 2022 Honda HR-V in 2024, I have experienced ongoing unintended or “phantom” braking while driving at highway speeds with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and the Collision Mitigation Braking System activated. When a vehicle is traveling in an adjacent lane—most frequently on the right side—the dashboard displays an orange brake warning, and the vehicle abru
... ptly brakes without driver input despite no obstruction in my lane. This issue occurs approximately four times per week, and the vehicle currently has about 75,000 miles. During each incident, I disengage adaptive cruise control using the steering wheel controls to regain manual control. Although no accidents or injuries have occurred, these sudden braking events have resulted in multiple near-miss situations and present a significant safety concern.Read more

My reverse camera keeps going blank when reversing or it says Contact Dealership. My 2015 Lincoln MKC had the safety recall for that camera. I am wondering why my 2014 Ford Escape does not have this same recall? Almost wrecked into someone as could not see as there are blind spots. No alert of vehicle behind me.

We have a 2019 Nissan Leaf that I believe is covered under California's Lemon Law. We were unable to properly use the vehicle due to the fast charge DC capabilities being falsely reported by the dealership when we purchased it. We were told to stop using the DC chargers as a fire might break out, thus making the vehicle unsafe to charge at home and unsustainable for our work/life use. Several of t
... he R24B2 recall milestones were missed in rectifying this charging issue and there is seemingly no solution to this dangerous battery issue. Since, the vehicle will also inexplicably drop in battery performance from 70+% to 9% when the vehicle is cold and driving uphill with the defroster on. Looking this up on google has shown us that it is the signs of a weak battery, although the dealership says that it's running optimally. We've taken it to the dealership and they cannot replicate the problem and will not help us replace the battery. And since taking it in, the driver's side door now inexplicably won't lock or unlock with a push of a button or key fob. It has to be manually locked or unlocked. Extremely dangerous when walking to my car alone at night and having to now get in through the passenger side to unlock the driver's side door before entering my car. I do not feel safe with this car in the least. The Leaf is only 7 years old but acts like it's 17. A nightmarish purchase on our end that did not live up to the promise of what the dealer sold us. And apparently, it was fully known that the fast-charging DC capability did not work properly when sold to us. We would like to trigger a buy back from Nissan Consumer Affairs to the date when the recall was first announced. Thank you.Read more

2021 Yukon Denali. Inspected by dealer under recall. Passed dealership test and new oil viscosity adjustment completed by dealer at 39k miles. Told no issues with vehicle continue to drive it. ... oulder and attempted to restart. Nothing! Engine would crank. Towed to Olathe gmc dealer and they took one looke at it , diagnosed it said it had all symptoms of total engine failure. Ordered me an engine and told 6 weeks out. Sent me home in a loaner. Service department told me They get one everyday sometime more than 1. They have hertz rental on standby for warranty loaner vehicle. I find it spilling that these vehicles come time to be sold. They’re all bad according to the service department. I also find it very frustrating that they park the broken defective vehicles at the very back of the dealer lot to hide the graveyard of 6.2’s from the public. My vehicle is under 5 year 60k warranty and engine is being replaced, but the tech could not share the extent of what would be replaced. All he mentioned was the block. My 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan has repeatedly experienced a complete loss of motive power while driving in active traffic. ... any driver input and results in the car "slamming" to a violent stop. My safety and my baby’s safety are put at risk every time I start this car. The engine has stalled multiple times while I was in the middle of busy traffic, leaving us a "sitting duck" for a rear-end collision. There is no warning; the power just cuts out, and I’m left stranded trying to restart the car while other drivers swerve around us. When the car slams on the brakes or shifts itself into Park while I’m moving, it feels like the car is fighting me for control. I can’t trust the vehicle to stay moving when it’s supposed to or stay in gear when I’m merging. It is a life-threatening defect that makes the car completely undrivable. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected twice by the authorized manufacturer dealership, Pacific Volkswagen. They have documented the safety issues on Repair Orders #[XXX] and #[XXX]. During these inspections, the service department confirmed that the vehicle is unsafe to drive, yet they stated they could not find a diagnostic "code" to provide a permanent fix. No warning lamps or error messages appeared prior to the engine stalling in traffic. The loss of power is sudden and total. The only symptom that appeared was during parking maneuvers, where the dashboard would occasionally display "Sensor Restricted" followed by the car independently shifting into Park or slamming on the brakes. These symptoms first appeared in March 2026, within the first 970 miles of operation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Vehicle: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse Issue: “Shift to Park” warning – vehicle fails to recognize it is in Park I am filing a complaint regarding a persistent &dangerous defect with my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse involving the “Shift to Park” warning system. For the past several years, my vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize that it is in Park, even when it clearly is. This issue has escal
... ated into a serious safety and reliability concern. Most recently, I was stranded in a store parking lot for over two hours because my vehicle would not properly shut off or restart due to the false “Shift to Park” warning. I had to call someone to disconnect the battery to prevent it from draining completely, which caused additional cost and inconvenience. After reconnecting the battery, the vehicle still would not start for another 2hours. This defect leaves me at risk of being stranded at any time, including in unsafe or isolated. As a single parent of 4 young children, this creates a significant safety concern for my family. This problem has been ongoing since Oct 2023 and has occurred repeatedly since then, and consistently every month since then, often four or more times per month. I have brought this issue to a Chevrolet dealership, Reed-Lallier Chevrolet in Fayetteville, NC, multiple times. Despite being charged diagnostic fees, no permanent fix has been provided. This is a known issue with this vehicle model related to a faulty shifter assembly or park detection system. This defect impacts the vehicle’s ability to shut off, restart, & function reliably, creating a serious safety hazard. I am requesting that this issue be formally investigated & that appropriate action be taken to require a recall or manufacturer-covered repair. This problem is widespread among similar vehicles & should not continue to leave drivers stranded or at risk. ... H, the forward collision/adaptive cruise system falsely detected a vehicle in my lane when none was present and applied sudden, hard braking without driver input. This caused a noticeable forward pitch of the vehicle. At approximately 6:27:13 PM, the system again indicated a vehicle ahead when there was none. Road conditions were wet, and this unexpected braking created a risk of loss of control or a rear-end collision. The systems involved include the windshield wipers and forward collision/adaptive cruise control. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no warning lamps prior to these incidents. The only indication was a false vehicle detection displayed on the instrument cluster and heads-up display. These issues have not yet been reproduced by the dealer, as they were just reported to both the dealership and GM. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership to date. The truck also has ongoing issues, including frequent audio cutting out (6+ service visits, unresolved) and intermittent failure of the camera system to activate, which has been previously documented and not corrected. Dashcam footage is available for both incidents and can be provided for review. These issues appear intermittent and without warning, making them difficult to anticipate or mitigate during normal driving. The unexpected nature of both the wiper malfunction and unintended braking increases the overall safety risk, especially in adverse weather and highway conditions.Read more

I drive a 2022 Kenworth T680 equipped with a Bendix collision mitigation / automatic emergency braking system. On multiple occasions, the system has applied the service brakes hard with no real obstacle in front of the truck, creating a serious rear‑end collision risk for vehicles behind me. The events typically occur in rain, fog, or under overpasses and signs at highway speeds with cruise cont
... rol engaged. The truck suddenly brakes without warning or driver input, dropping speed rapidly in the travel lane while traffic is following. I have documented dates, locations, weather, and traffic conditions for these incidents. In each case, there was no stopped or slowing vehicle in my lane that justified automatic emergency braking. This appears to be a “false positive” AEB activation similar to those NHTSA is already investigating on other Class 8 tractors, where the system misidentifies harmless objects or roadway features and commands an unnecessary stop. These false activations put me and other motorists at risk of a rear‑end crash. The dealer has indicated they are limited in how much they can disable the system for liability reasons, so I am submitting this as a safety defect report and requesting that NHTSA investigate this behavior on Kenworth T680 trucks with this collision mitigation system.Read more

My steering gear motor attachment bolts have fractured due to severe corrosion, which is the exact defect described in Safety Recall 19S26. This physical failure was confirmed by a Ford dealership technician on 1/11/2024. The technician documented the fractured bolts and recommended a full steering gear replacement. Despite this, Ford is denying the recall repair because this specific VIN was not
... included on the original mailing list. The vehicle is now undrivable due to a total loss of power steering assist. Before it failed completely, the car was making whining and grinding noises during low-speed turns. This failure occurred in Illinois, which is a high-corrosion 'Salt Belt' state specifically covered by the 19S26 bulletin. By denying this safety repair, Ford is forcing an unsafe vehicle to remain on the road or operate with manual steering, which is a major crash risk. The failure was physically confirmed and documented by a Ford dealer. I want to note that while the previous recall 18S08 for the steering wheel bolt was performed, that was an unrelated interior part and did not prevent this exterior motor bolt failure. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate why a vehicle with a confirmed 19S26 failure in a covered state is being denied the mandated safety remedy.Read more

My 2018 Mazda CX-9 with the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine has been diagnosed with a cracked cylinder head, cracked exhaust manifold, and cracked turbocharger at approximately 88,000 miles. This is a known design defect documented in Mazda TSB 01-002/23 and addressed by Customer Service Program CSP11, which extended the powertrain warranty to 10 years/120,000 miles for coolant leaks at the cylinder head.
... The TSB identifies exhaust manifold deformation and residual production stress as root causes of the cylinder head cracking. In my vehicle, the failure has extended to the exhaust manifold and turbocharger, both directly mounted to the cylinder head in the same high-stress zone. The turbocharger on this engine is a coolant-cooled unit. As coolant leaks from the cracked cylinder head, the turbocharger is deprived of its cooling supply, leading to excessive heat buildup and eventual cracking of the turbo housing. The turbo damage is a direct consequence of the cylinder head defect Mazda has already acknowledged. CSP11 covers the cylinder head but does not address consequential damage to the exhaust manifold and turbocharger caused by the same defect. I am requesting the NHTSA investigate whether Mazda's remedy is sufficient and whether a formal recall is warranted given the risk of sudden engine failure at highway speeds.Read more

At the time of purchase, the vehicle had an outstanding manufacturer safety recall identified as NHTSA Recall No. 23V651000 (Recall #251), dated April 3, 2024. This recall had not been completed prior to sale and was only addressed on March 24, 2026, after I took the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership. Additionally, the vehicle was subject to a manufacturer campaign identified as Campaign #P33, dated December 15, 2025. This further indicates that the vehicle required manufacturer-related service that had not been fully addressed prior to sale. An independent inspection conducted on March 16, 2026 confirmed conditions inconsistent with a vehicle that had recently passed a safety inspection. These issues raise serious concerns about the safety, inspection integrity, and roadworthiness of the vehicle at the time it was sold. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed for potential safety-related concerns and any related violations. I am available to provide supporting documentation, including inspection reports, diagnostic results, service records, and photographic evidence.Read more

The infotainment head unit in my 2018 Subaru Outback has experienced internal adhesive delamination, resulting in frequent "ghost touches" and unpredictable system malfunctions that pose a severe safety hazard. Most critically, the backup camera display intermittently disappears or freezes while the vehicle is in reverse, causing a total loss of rear visibility during low-speed maneuvering. While
... the vehicle is in motion, the unit executes unauthorized commands without driver input, including making random outgoing phone calls to my contacts, switching screens away from the GPS navigation during active routing, and cycling through radio stations and apps at high volumes. These uncommanded actions create extreme driver distraction and a loss of access to essential vehicle safety interfaces. The failure is persistent and prevents the reliable use of mandated safety equipment and navigation.Read more

While accelerating at various speeds and after being idle, the vehicle jerked abnormally before accelerating. While attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle jerked and failed to immediately start, causing the driver to have to aggressively depress the accelerator pedal for the engine to start. The wrench warning light and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the contact was unable to speak with a representative. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.Read more

I am reporting a serious safety defect involving a 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL. The vehicle has repeatedly shut off while being driven, creating a dangerous situation. The issue first occurred in January 2026. The vehicle was later towed for repair in February 2026, and I was told the issue had been fixed and picked up the vehicle 3/20/2026 and gave $1600. However, on April 9, 2026, the vehicle shut
... off again while driving. This issue has occurred multiple times and persists despite repair attempts. When the vehicle shuts off, it creates a loss of power and poses a significant safety risk in traffic. I am concerned that this may be a broader safety issue and am requesting that this defect be documented and investigated.Read more

My 2024 Ford Ranger XLT 2W has been suddenly losing power or stumbling upon initial acceleration. This has been occurring intermittently. My truck now has approximately 20,000 miles. The problem has become increasingly frequent. It seems to occur most often when accelerating from a complete stop. The loss of power can last for several seconds, then normal power is regained. Several times, the truc
... k has lost power while making a left turn. It simply will not accelerate, and I find that I am stuck, unable to complete my turn and clear the oncoming traffic. I have taken my truck to a local dealer who attempted to diagnose the problem and they didn’t offer a solution since they were unable to reproduce the problem during their road test. It has happened many times since then and I am scheduled to return the vehicle to the same dealership to attempt to diagnose and fix the problem again soon. The problem seems to occur, regardless of which drive mode the truck is in and also occurs with Electronic Stability Control both enabled and disabled. There are no warning lights or check engine codes shown.Read more

Component: Front differential / xDrive drivetrain system. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Description: My 2020 BMW M340i xDrive has exhibited a persistent whining noise from the front drivetrain since approximately 38,000 miles. The noise varies with speed and load and appears to originate from the front differential. A BMW dealership inspected the vehicle and acknowledged the n
... oise but declined repair under warranty. This condition is consistent with premature wear of internal differential components such as gears or bearings, or improper lubrication. Differentials should not produce whining noises at this mileage, indicating a potential defect. Safety Risk: The front differential is critical to torque distribution in the all wheel drive system. Progressive failure could result in drivetrain binding, uneven torque delivery, or loss of AWD functionality. In a worst case scenario, partial or full differential seizure could occur, leading to sudden resistance, instability, or loss of control. These risks are heightened at highway speeds or in low traction conditions such as rain or snow. The vehicle provides no warning lights or messages despite the abnormal condition, meaning failure could occur without advance notice. Inspection: Issue confirmed by BMW dealership. No repair or corrective action performed. Warnings/Symptoms: No warning lights or system messages. Only symptom is a persistent whining noise from the front drivetrain. Additional Information: I am aware of similar complaints from other BMW xDrive owners reporting drivetrain whining, grinding, and vibration, suggesting a broader pattern of premature differential wear.Read more

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving a 2015 Ford Focus equipped with the PowerShift transmission. The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of the transmission control module (TCM) and clutch system despite multiple repair attempts. The vehicle has been repaired at least three times for the same issue, yet the failure continues. While driving at highway speeds (approximately 65–70
... mph), the transmission failed without warning. The vehicle lost power and was unable to properly shift gears, creating an immediate safety hazard. I was forced to navigate traffic with limited acceleration and was left stranded. This condition significantly increases the risk of a crash, especially when merging, accelerating, or maintaining speed in traffic. The failure occurs unpredictably and without sufficient warning. This issue is not isolated. The 2012–2016 Ford Focus models equipped with the PowerShift transmission have a well-documented history of similar failures, including prior complaints and manufacturer acknowledgment of defects. Despite multiple repair attempts, the defect has not been resolved, and the vehicle remains unsafe to operate. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a safety defect, as it poses a serious risk to drivers and others on the road. I have found that many of the vehicles that recieved a replacement TCM, reported the problem came back, worsened, or the car had to be totalled all together. Even worse, took a huge hit.Read more
