The vehicle experienced a failure of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) associated with the 4WD system. Prior to the failure, the 4WD warning light illuminated on the dashboard, indicating a malfunction within the drivetrain. The condition progressed and was diagnosed as an internal PTU failure. The issue was confirmed by Jacksonville Chrysler Jeep Dodge, which determined that the PTU had failed inter
... nally and required full replacement. This failure could have affected the vehicle’s ability to properly transfer power to all four wheels, increasing the risk of loss of traction or control, particularly during wet or slippery road conditions. A sudden loss or reduction of 4WD capability presents a potential safety concern. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by the dealership during inspection. The PTU was replaced due to the internal failure. It is UNKNOWN if the failed component is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives (UNKNOWN). The 4WD warning light appeared prior to the failure, indicating a developing issue before the component ultimately failed. Based on the nature of the failure and the need for full replacement of the PTU, this appears to be a significant drivetrain defect rather than normal wear. Similar failures may be occurring in other vehicles with the same system, which could indicate a broader issue affecting vehicle safety.Read more

The fuel pipe in my 2024 Kia Carnival has been identified by Kia as part of Safety Recall SC368 due to a fire risk. The component is available for inspection at the dealership where the vehicle is currently located. My safety and the safety of my family — including young children in car seats — was put at risk because the vehicle carries a known fire hazard related to the fuel pipe, yet no re
... medy is available until June 2026 at the earliest, according to Kia Customer Care. Kia confirmed the recall and the fire risk but has not provided adequate alternative transportation, leaving a family with young children without a safe vehicle for an extended period. The problem has been confirmed by Kia Customer Care, who verified that my vehicle is included in recall SC368. The dealership also confirmed the recall exists but stated the remedy is not yet available. However, when I contacted NHTSA by phone to file a complaint, the representative stated they could not find my vehicle in their recall database, directly contradicting Kia's confirmation. This discrepancy between Kia's internal records and NHTSA's database is concerning and may prevent other affected owners from being aware of the safety risk. The vehicle has been surrendered to the dealership via tow due to the fire risk. It has not yet been inspected or diagnosed by the dealership service department. I have requested written confirmation that the vehicle is safe to drive before accepting it back. I was notified via a CARFAX alert and the risk was identified/confirmed by the manufacturer.Read more

The component that failed in both incidents was the vehicle’s wiring system, specifically wiring insulation that appears to be vulnerable to rodent damage. In the second incident, squirrels again accessed the engine compartment and chewed through wi
... ring affecting the braking system. This resulted in a sudden and unexpected loss of braking function. Yes, the damaged components should be available for inspection through the repair shop or service records, although I would need to confirm the exact location of the retained parts. Safety was significantly put at risk. During the second incident, the vehicle was occupied by multiple passengers, including minors. While approaching a red light, the driver attempted to brake and found that the brakes were not functioning properly. The driver had to shift the vehicle into park and use the emergency brake to stop, narrowly avoiding a serious collision. This created a high-risk, potentially life-threatening situation. The first incident was addressed by a mechanic after the check engine light appeared, confirming damage to the fuel injector-related wiring. The second incident was formally confirmed by a mechanic that the brake line was leaking from damage from, what they highly suspected and have seen in the past, a rodent . In the first incident, a check engine light appeared, prompting immediate attention. In the second incident, there were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before the brake failure occurred.Read more
