I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue with my brand-new Jeep Grand Cherokee (got it from DARCARS Rockville, MD dealership) and to request immediate resolution under warranty and applicable consumer protection laws. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation of reliability, safety, and comfort for my family. Unfortunately, within a very short period of ownership, the vehicle ha
... s experienced repeated and dangerous failures. On 17th April 2026, while traveling at approximately 65 mph on a highway in Pennsylvania around 1:00 AM, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. This created an extremely hazardous situation for my family. We contacted roadside assistance, but no help arrived until approximately 8:00 AM. Due to freezing temperatures and lack of heat in the vehicle, we were forced to call 911 for assistance and were transported to a nearby hotel around 3:30 AM. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a dealership, where diagnostics were performed. We were informed that the issue was related to a coding or malfunction and that it had been resolved. However, just two days later, while returning home, the exact same issue occurred again under similar conditions—vehicle shutdown at highway speed. Once again, we were stranded at night, forced to rely on emergency services, and did not reach home until approximately 4:30 AM. This pattern of failure is unacceptable and represents a severe safety defect. My family’s safety was put at significant risk on two separate occasions. As a result, we have completely lost confidence in the vehicle’s reliability and safety. Immediate escalation of this case and a full technical investigation A written explanation of the root cause of these failures A permanent resolution to ensure this issue cannot recur Consideration of a manufacturer buyback or replacement under applicable Lemon Law provisionsRead more

We drove the Traverse 55 miles to a baseball game. When we got in the car to return home several warning lights appeared on the instrument display and there was an audible warning sound. The message “Service ESC” and “Brake assist failure” appeared on the instrument display panel. We couldn’t find a dealership that was open on Saturday so we cautiously drove 55 miles home. We could not drive faster than 62 MPH on the way home and I had to start braking early in order to be able to come to a complete stop at stop lights. I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite with 39,000 miles on it. In January 2026, suddenly I had multiple warning lights on in my minivan related to an ADAS system failure. I replaced the car battery and later determined that the ADAS camera had failed in the car. In reading online, this is a very common issue with Hondas as the cameras are known to overheat and require replacement. Warning lights:
... Brake System Malfunction, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Auto High Beam Problem Before I was able to get it repaired, the van turned off suddenly in traffic twice while my wife was driving the car while also one of my children was inside, creating an unsafe condition that could have created an accident. Luckily my wife was able to get the car safely moved out of traffic and we stopped driving the car at that point. I wound up replacing the camera and and needing to get it recalibrated so that the car could be drivable. This resulted in the van not being operable for nearly a month. For a car that had 39,000 miles on it, this really should be something under a longer warranty as it could have created an unsafe driving condition for my family. Total cost to repair = $1634.22.Read more

I am experiencing the exact issues identified in NHTS Campaign Number: PE25009. The steering system on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica exhibits a sticking sensation during gradual turns, particularly when the steering wheel is positioned near the 11 o'clock or 1 o'clock position. It is most prevalent at speeds over 60MPH. The safety of everyone in the van has been put at risk by requiring increased stee
... ring force in the opposite direction that could easily be overcompensated for by the driver. The first time it occurred, I overcompensated which easily could have caused a crash into a guardrail or vehicle. Fortunately, it did not and I was aware of the issue and how to react when it continued during the drive. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other indicators that there's a problem with the van. After parking the vehicle, I saw online that it could be possible to reset the steering sensors by turning the wheel all the way in each direction several times. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but I did not experience the same sticking for the remainder of the drive even with reaching the same speed and taking similar, gradual turns. On April 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 PM, a 2025 Ram ProMaster operated as part of a commercial delivery fleet experienced a sudden vehicle fire while driving on a rural road near [XXX] [XXX] ). According to the driver, the vehicle drove over a small amount of corn husk debris on a low-maintenance gravel road, which is a normal and expected driving condition in this area. Immediately after,
... the vehicle became immobilized, and smoke and fire rapidly developed inside the vehicle and spread to the surrounding field. The driver exited the vehicle quickly and sustained second-degree burns and loss of facial hair. Emergency services responded, and approximately ten fire units were required to contain the fire. The driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was a total loss. Notably, more than 24 hours after the initial incident, the vehicle reignited while being handled by a tow company. This incident does not appear consistent with normal operating risk. Driving over agricultural debris such as corn husks is a routine condition in rural Nebraska and should not result in catastrophic vehicle failure or fire. Additionally, another fleet operator in the same geographic market reported a nearly identical incident involving a 2025 Ram ProMaster less than one month prior. In that case, the vehicle also caught fire while being driven under normal rural road conditions. There is currently a known recall affecting 2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles. Given the similarity of incidents, severity of outcome, and potential pattern, this may indicate a broader safety defect. This event resulted in driver injury, complete vehicle loss, and damage to surrounding agricultural property. Immediate investigation into potential fire risk and defect in 2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles is strongly requested. My concern is that the misfire is disabling all driver safety systems and forcing the car into limp mode, and seems to be manufacturer error/negligence in terms of part reliability/quality. These parts are also on a 6-9 month BACK ORDER because of how common the issue is. Honda released "Service Bulletin 19-032" as a means to make dealers aware of the issue but I find this dishonest to the customers and Honda owners who purchase the vehicles on the promise of reliability. Claim #25921274 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally dispute Kia’s denial of warranty coverage for the engine failure in my 2013 Kia Sportage. Per communication with customer care, Kia denied my claim on the basis of “excessive mileage between oil changes.” However, this conclusion is not supported by sufficient evidence and does not meet the legal standard required under the
... Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. My vehicle received regular oil changes at intervals ranging from approximately 5,000 to 13,000 miles using full synthetic oil designed for extended service intervals. While these intervals may exceed conservative manufacturer recommendations, they do not constitute neglect, nor do they establish that maintenance caused the engine failure. The engine failure occurred suddenly while driving at highway speed, resulting in a complete seizure and requiring an emergency stop. This type of abrupt failure is consistent with known defects in Kia’s engines, particularly rod bearing failure, and not indicative of progressive oil starvation or maintenance-related damage. Under federal warranty law, Kia bears the burden of demonstrating a causal connection between the alleged maintenance deficiency and the specific mechanical failure. A general assertion regarding oil change intervals is insufficient. To date, Kia has not provided evidence establishing that my maintenance practices caused or contributed to the engine seizure. Accordingly, I request the following: 1.All documentation supporting the denial of my claim, including: •Photographs of engine teardown •Inspection reports •Evidence of sludge, oil starvation, or restricted oil flow 2.A written explanation detailing how the oil change intervals directly caused the engine failure, rather than a known defect associated with this engine. Absent such evidence, the denial of coverage constitutes a breach of warranty under KIA’s engine settlement program and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.Read more

I am reporting a potential safety defect with my 2018 Honda CR-V EX-L. While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly overheated without warning. My 2019 Ford EcoSport 1.0L EcoBoost engine began making loud noise consistent with oil pressure failure. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership. The dealership performed a teardown and confirmed the oil pump belt tensioner had failed — the exact defect described in Safety Recall 23S64. The dealer replaced the oil pump belt, tensioner, and oil pump under Recall 23S64. However, the
... dealer then stated that the resulting engine damage — severe scoring of connecting rod bearings and crankshaft journals caused by oil starvation — is “not related to the recall” and refused to replace the engine under Recall 23S64. Ford’s own recall documentation states: if engine failure is related to a broken oil pump belt or tensioner, a long block engine replacement is authorized as an interim repair at no charge. The updated Service Action also states the oil pump belt and tensioner no longer need to be replaced before long block installation. The causal chain is direct: tensioner failed (recall defect) → oil pressure lost → engine destroyed. The dealer’s refusal to replace the engine appears to violate Ford’s own Recall 23S64 service procedure. The vehicle has been inoperable for weeks. I continue making monthly loan and insurance payments on a vehicle I cannot drive. My extended warranty claim was also denied because the warranty company requires written confirmation from Ford that the engine damage is not recall-related — a document the dealer says they cannot provide. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate whether Ford dealers are systematically denying recall-related engine replacements under 23S64 that they are obligated to perform per Ford’s own recall service procedures. Additionally, prior to the complete engine failure, the vehicle stalled unexpectedly while stopped at a red light in active traffic without any warning. The engine shut off suddenly, consistent with sudden loss of oil pressure caused by the recall defect. This created a dangerous safety situationRead more

I am reporting a safety issue involving a 2013 Ford Edge Sport AWD related to progressive brake failure. The affected components include the brake booster and master cylinder. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. In mid-2025, the vehicle developed a gradual loss of braking capability. The brake pedal required increasing force over time to bring the vehicle to a stop. Because
... the failure developed progressively rather than suddenly, the severity of the issue was not immediately apparent. At the time, the vehicle was primarily driven by my teenage son, a new driver, who continued operating the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal harder to compensate. This created a significant safety risk, as the vehicle did not reliably stop under normal braking conditions, increasing the risk of collision. The issue was confirmed by an independent mechanic, and repairs required replacement of the brake booster, master cylinder, and related components. The vehicle was later discussed with a Ford dealership; however, no warning of coverage or recall applicability was identified at that time. There were no clear warning lights or dashboard messages indicating brake system failure prior to the issue. The primary symptom was a progressive increase in required pedal force. After the repair, I learned that brake booster failure is a known issue for this vehicle platform and has been the subject of prior manufacturer service campaigns. I am concerned that this type of gradual brake degradation may not be recognized by drivers, particularly inexperienced drivers, and could result in unsafe operating conditions. The vehicle has also experienced repeated rear differential failures. Replacement parts are no longer manufactured by Ford, requiring use of used components with unknown condition and lifespan, further affecting vehicle reliability and safe operation. URGENT SAFETY DEFECT - Repeated front hub overheating/fire risk (2025 Western Star 47x) I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding my 2025 Western Star 47x The front wheel hubs have over heated to the point of failure on 6 separate occasions, resulting in a fire on two of those occasions. The issues have been documented with Freightliner and accompanied by photo/video evidence. Each inc
... ident required the vehicle to be towed to an authorized dealership, and repairs were performed under warranty. Despite these repeated repairs, the issue has not yet been resolved. The hubs are currently overheating again, indicating a persistent and unresolved defect. This is no longer a routine maintenance or warranty issue. This is an ongoing safety defect that presents a serious fire hazard and risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life. Key Concerns - - Six separate over heating and/or fire incidents involving the front hubs - Multiple warranty repairs with no permanent resolution - Recurrence of the same failure condition - Within days or weeks of warranty repair, the vehicles becomes unsafe to operate under normal working conditions due to over heating hubs, which break down the lubricating gear oil, furthering the problem, causing more heat with thinner oil, which eventually leaks onto the brakes, causing a fire. During the times where I was fortunate enough to catch it before a fire started, the fluid was so hot that it melted the plastic hub cap to the point of blowing up like a balloon before eventually rupturing. These instances were video documentedRead more

Manufacturing defect in the rear window frame (Backlite) causing severe water intrusion. Water is pooling directly onto the RF Hub (Radio Frequency Hub) electrical module and wiring harness. While driving at 30MPH, vehicle lost power without any notice/warnings. Had the vehicle towed to dealer who misdiagnosed as transmission problem (quoted $8000 to swap). Had a second opinion and indeed it was the dreaded coolant intrusion in the engine, catalytic convertor which cause the loss of acceleration and the transmission was completely fine. This is a ridiculously common issue with the 1.5
... L engine and Ford has not offered any support other than "oh well" mentality. Prior to this, car lost coolant, I had to top it off every couple days, blew with smoke, sweet smell, all in line with coolant intrusion. Had the lines checked and repaired as recommended but about 6 months later this happened.Read more

I was driving out of the parking garage at work and happened to catch the oil light flicker on and then go off. I immediately drove it to an auto shop where I told them what happened. They looked at the dipstick and there was no oil showing on the dipstick. If I had just written the light off as an oddity I would have driven the car home from work (around 20 miles) and the engine could have stall
... ed at 60mph creating a safety hazard. I have the oil changed regularly (about every 5,000 miles) and have my receipts. My car has around 80,000 miles in it and I’m the original owner. The auto shop said that I would need to take it to the dealership for an oil consumption test. I called and scheduled the appointment immediately and am in the process of having the test completed. The dealership noted a TSB for the issue on the write up and based on my research online this is not an unusual problem. Why have owners not been made aware of this issue? I don’t feel safe driving my car and am frustrated that this seems to be a known issue. There was no oil on the dipstick, no indicator that stayed on indicating an issue.Read more
