MY CLAIM WAS REJECTED, ALTHOUGH THE THEN SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED THAT THE BEARING WOULD EVENTUALLY FAIL. MOROVER, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT STOCK THE DEALER WITH THE RELACEMENT PARTS, AND WOULD REQUIRE RETURN OF THE DAMAGED PARTS TO PREVENT A DEFACTO RECALL. ULTIMATELY THE CAM BEARIN(S) FAILED AT SPEED. I RETRURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON OCT. 6 AND IT IS NOT FIXED YET, DUE IN PART TO UNAVAILABILITY OF PARTS AND AN APPROVAL PROCESS. UNFORTUNATELY THEY WON'T REPAIR IT UNTIL IT FAILS, AND THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE THE BEARING UNDER WARRANTY. I TOOK THE BIKE IN TO THE LOCAL H-D DEALERSHIP SEVERAL 2 MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TILL IT WENT BAD. I'VE READ OF INSTANCES IN MAJOR MOTORCYCLE PUBLICATIONS OF MOTOR FEEZE-UP, TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE, AND LOCKED REAR TIRES WHEN THE CAM BEARING FAILS. THE GAS GAUGE DROPS NORMALLY FROM "FULL" TO APPROX. '1/2 FULL', THEN IN NO CONSISTENT MANNER (TIME OR MILEAGE WISE)...IT DROPS TO 'EMPTY'.
