2006 HARLEY DAVIDSON 1200 CUSTOM 1300 MI, CONSTANT ENGINE COUGH AND OCCASIONAL STALLING. THE COUGHING AND HESITATION ARE QUITE OFTEN MAKING THIS MOTORCYCLE EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON THE ROADS IN TRAFFIC. NO APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE LEVER AS BRAKE APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AND NO ADDITIONAL RESISTANCE ON FRONT WHEEL. RODE A FEW MILES, MERGED ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND WITHIN 4 MILES, THE FRONT BRAKE LOCKED UP CAUSING A SINGLE BIKE ACCIDENT WITH PERSONAL INJURIES WHICH INCLUDED EXTREME ABRASIONS, A BROKEN WRIST AND S

EVERE KNEE DAMAGE REQUIRING RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY AND PHYSICAL THERAPY.THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM WAS DISASSEMBLED AND INSPECTED AND THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED TO BE AN INCORRECTLY MACHINED BRAKE CONTROL LEVER.THIS CAUSED THE PISTON IN THE MASTER CYLINDER TO COMPRESS SLIGHTLY APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND BLOCKED THE PRESSURE RELIEF HOLE WHICH CAUSED EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILDUP,BRAKE FLUID EXPANSION AND UNCONTROLLED APPLICATION OF THE FRONT BRAKE. WE PURCHASED OUR MOTORCYCLE IN AUGUST OF 2006. AFTER RIDING IT FOR A WHILE THE FIRST DAY OUT WITH SOME FRIENDS VISITING FROM CALIFORNIA THE REAR ENGINE, CYLINDER GOT UNBEARABLY HOT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE, NOT ONE THAT THE CONSUMERS PROBLEM. THEY (HARLEY DAVIDSON) ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT, EXCEPT TO OFFER SOMETHING ELSE TO PURCHASE. THE FIRST TIME I USED THE TRAILER, I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE TIE DOWNS FOR THE BIKE AND COME LOOSE AND THE BIKE VERY NEARLY CAME LOOSE FROM THE TRAILER INTO HEAVY FREEWAY TRAFFIC.
