I WAS THE PROUD OWNER OF 2006 ROAD KING CLASSIC. I PAMPERED MY BIKE, HAD IT SERVICED BY THE HARLEY DAVIDSON DEALERSHIP, AND HAD IT FOR 2 YEARS. AFTER 5000 MILES, (HARDLY EXCESSIVE USE) A STRONG WOBBLE DEVELOP AND IT GOT WORSE AT ALMOST ANY SPEED. I TOOK THE BIKE TO BE CHECKED AT HACIENDA HARLEY DAVIDSON DEALERSHIP IN SCOTTSDALE AZ IN JUNE OF 2008 WHICH AT THE TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER SHOWED ME THE

THE MANAGER SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE REAR WHEEL ('TIGHTENING THE SPOKES WILL ONLY FIX THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY' WAS HIS QUOTE). ACCORDING TO HIM THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY HARLEY DAVIDSON. I WAS ON THE BRAKES HARD TRYING TO STOP AND STILL MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE. AT THIS TIME THE HANDLE BARS OF THE MOTORCYCLE ROTATED DOWNWARD AROUND THE GAS TANK OF THE MOTORCYCLE AND I COULD NOT STEER THE MOTORCYCLE LEFT OR RIGHT. I SMASHED MY FACE UNTO THE FRONT FAIRING AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE BIKE TO A STOP WITHOUT DUMPING IT OR HITTING THE CAR. THE STEERING MECHANISM OF A MOTORCYCLE OR ANY VEHICLE SHOULD NOT FAIL DURING BRAKING. THIS INCIDENT ONLY COST ME A FAT LIP AND THE SCARE OF MY LIFE AS WELL AS A MOTORCYCLE THAT I NO LONGER CAN DEPEND ON FOR MY SAFETY. I CONTACTED HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF OCEAN COUNTY AND TALKED TO NOREEN THE GENERAL MANAGER THERE ABOUT THE INCIDENT. SHE SAID "BRING THE BIKE IN AND WE WILL TIGHTEN THE HANDLE BARS FOR YOU". I TOLD HER I WOULD NOT RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN. SHE SAID SHE WOULD CONTACT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME A CALL. NOT ONCE DID SHE ASK ABOUT MY WELL BEING OR THE PARTICULARS OF THE INCIDENT. SHE ALSO SAID THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENCE OF THE HANDLE BARS ROTATING AND SHE FELT IT WAS DUE TO HIGH ADRENALINE IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT. THAT IS ABSOLUTE BS TO ME. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HARLEY DAVIDSON FXDCI. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS UNAWARE THAT IT WAS NOT EPA CERTIFIED. MY 2007 FLHTC HARLEY DAVIDSON HAS BEEN A LEMON SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2007. THE BIKE ALWAYS RUNS HOT DUE TO THE FACT THERE IS NO OIL PRESSURE AT TIMES. THE CPK UNIT WENT OUT AND LEAKED OIL EVERYWHERE AFTER ONE MONTH. THE FRONT PART OF THIS UNIT, WHICH WAS INSIDE THE MOTOR, WAS DAMAGED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID SOMETHING HAD TO HAVE HIT IT. ... ST REPLACED IT. OIL PRESSURE CONSTANTLY DROPS AFTER RIDING FOR AWHILE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT WAS NORMAL. NOW THE BIKE HAS NO OIL PRESSURE AND IS LEAKING OIL FROM SOMEWHERE. IT IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING WORKED ON AGAIN. I DO NOT TRUST THIS BIKE TO GO ANYWHERE FAR FROM HOME. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH EITHER THE OIL PUMP OR THE WAY OIL IS CIRCULATED. YOU HAVE TO LOOK WHILE RIDING TO SEE IF OIL IS LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE. IF THE MOTOR LOCKS UP FROM LACK OF OIL THE BIKE WILL BE PAST DANGEROUS.
