MY XG750 WAS LOW ON FUEL. WHEN LEAVING FROM A STOP, AT A STOP & GO LIGHT IT FELT AS THOUGH IT HAD NO POWER CAUSING ME TO TURN THE ACCELERATOR MORE. I PREVIOUSLY FILED A REPORT ABOUT MY MOTORCYCLE STALLING AND SURGING ON 4/18 WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH IN WET WEATHER. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP BROUGHT MY BIKE IN AND HAD IT FOR A WEEK WHILE WAITING FOR A NEW FUEL PUMP. I AM ON MY SECOND FUEL PUMP. THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE BUT A COMPLETELY NEW FUEL PUMP. THE UNIT CAN BE REBUILT WHICH IS ALSO A TEMPORARY FIX SINCE THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THE PISTON RETURN SPRING IS MARGINALLY TOO WEAK. THIS CAUSES THE PISTON NOT TO RETURN THE LEVER FAR ENOUGH FORWARD TO RELEASE PRESSURE ON THE MECHANICAL STOPLIGHT SWITCH. I SUBMIT THAT THIS WEAK RETURN SPRING IS A WIDESPREAD DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT ALLOWS THE BRAKE LIGHT TO CONTINUE TO STAY ON AND, THEN, WHEN THE RIDER DOES GRAB THE LEVER TO STOP, THERE IS NO INDICATION OF A CHANGE IN THE STOPLIGHT INTENSITY WHICH ENDANGERS THE RIDER FROM A POSSIBLE REAR END COLLISION. DEALERS, KNOWING THAT THE SPRING IS A PROBLEM, HAVE STRETCHED THE RETURN SPRING WHEN REBUILDING THE MASTER CYLINDER TO TRY TO PREVENT THIS BUT THAT IS NOT A SATISFACTORY LONG TERM RESOLUTION. THE RETURN SPRINGS NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH A STRONGER SPRING, NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE, TO ENSURE THAT THE LEVER IS RETURNED FAR ENOUGH FORWARD TO TURN OFF THE STOPLIGHT SWITCH. THE REAR SWING ARM ON THE PRIMARY SIDE (LEFT) IS BROKEN IN TWO. THIS SWING ARM HOLDS THE REAR WHEEL, AND BRAKES TO THE MOTORCYCLE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHILE TRYING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGH THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL AFTER GETTING STOPPED AND PARKING THE BIKE, THE BREAK LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS PULLING ON THE BREAK IT LOOSENED UP SO I RODE BIKE TO REPAIR SHOP. EVERY TIME THE FRONT BREAK WOULD ENGAGE (WHICH WAS NOT EVERY TIME), IT WOULD CATCH AND LOCK UP THE FRONT TIRE CAUSING ME TO DROP THE BIKE ONCE. REPAIR SHOP
