Vehicle Information: 2015 Ford Escape – approximately 165,000 miles Incident Description: During normal operation while backing out of a parking space, the vehicle unexpectedly slipped out of the drive gear immediately after I shifted from reverse to drive. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms indicating a potential issue. After restarting the vehicle, it briefly engage
... d drive but was only able to travel approximately ten feet before abruptly shifting through multiple gears without any driver input. During each occurrence, the engine surged to unusually high RPMs despite no acceleration being applied. Safety Concerns: The unintended gear changes were accompanied by loud whining noises, and the vehicle was unable to remain in any gear long enough to be operated safely. This failure left the vehicle immobilized on a main roadway, causing a traffic backup and creating a hazardous situation for myself, my children, and surrounding motorists. Current Vehicle Condition: After the vehicle was towed home, I attempted several restarts. At no time did any warning indicators or a check‑engine light illuminate. Each attempt resulted in the transmission immediately disengaging from gear when shifted into either drive or reverse, accompanied by continued loud whining noises and repeated engine surging to high RPMs without throttle input. The vehicle is currently inoperable. Additional Details: I plan to take the vehicle to Keith Hawthorne Ford for diagnostic evaluation. I am concerned that this failure may be related to a previously repaired transmission recall, as the recall documentation states that the defect may recur and could require additional corrective action. The dealership is currently requiring a diagnostic fee of $199.95 to inspect the vehicle.Read more

This creates a safety hazard if installed, due to not sufficient lighting luminosity to make aware vehicle traffic behind. Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a recurring and potentially dangerous issue with my 2017 Honda Accord EX-L. This unpredictable noise is not only startling but also prevents me from hearing surrounding traffic, horns, or emergency

I have found numerous similar complaints from other Honda owners online, indicating this may be a widespread issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

This motorcycle is unstable at highway speeds. I believe the aerodynamics of the fairing and the front fender are to blame. It is not an issue when I ride the bike with a passenger, thus more total weight resolves the issue. They suggested upgrading the suspension, which I did and that has not resolved the issue nor is that money refundable. They have test ridden but it was a 190 lbs technician. Again, this doesn't happen with heavier riders or with a passenger on the bike. Clearly Harley's design engineers using Computational Fluid Dynamics did not add any assumptions for solo riders under 170 lbs nor did they test the design with lighter riders.Read more

The vehicle’s frame has severely rusted to the point of structural compromise. My certified mechanic determined on December 10, 2024, that the frame could not pass the state safety inspection due to advanced corrosion. Welding is now required to restore structural integrity. The truck has remained inoperable and sidelined since that date. The frame is available for inspection upon request, and I
... have photos, repair invoices, and a mechanic’s written evaluation. This same frame was previously reworked by GMC twice: May 7, 2018 – Frame treated for premature rust. November 4, 2019 – Frame recoated after prior treatment failed due to improper descaling. Despite these reworks under GMC direction, the issue has progressed to a dangerous level. The structural integrity of the frame is compromised. A severely rusted frame puts occupants and others on the road at risk in the event of a collision, towing, or even regular driving. A weakened frame could lead to loss of vehicle control, failure to protect occupants in a crash, or catastrophic breakage of suspension or driveline components while in motion. Yes. The problem has been confirmed by an independent certified mechanic, who inspected the frame and advised that the rust is beyond surface level and requires welding to repair. They refused to weld during winter due to safety concerns and advised that the truck could not be driven or pass inspection in its current state. The vehicle was previously serviced under GMC’s direction in 2018 and 2019 by a GMC dealer (Weird GMC) to address early frame corrosion. However, the current failure has not yet been inspected by GMC directly since becoming undriveable in late 2024. I have reached out to GMC Customer Assistance and am awaiting a response. There were no dashboard warning lights or alerts for this issue. The only indications were visible signs of rust, which rapidly worsened after the 2019 rework. While driving at random times, no specific speed limit, the screen behind the wheel which shows speed and tachometer, will go into a system check mode. This is similar to when you start up the vehicle. The screen will come back after 5 to 10 seconds but during that time no information is displayed. If you have the vehicle in cruise control, it will disconnect cruise control, and you must catch it

This is a safety issue while driving for both no screen as well as disconnection of cruise control as you can not tell your speed and it slows vehicle down with no brake indication for those behind you which could result in a crash. Despite following Ford’s instructions step-by-step and investing hours into multiple calls with the Customer Service Division, we were given the runaround and ultimately denied assistance, even though: •This is a known defect with the Cam Phaser, CSP issued for our vehicle. •We attempted to have the repair performed within the CSP period but were delayed due to pandemic-related part shortage
... s and poor dealership follow-up. •Our warranty expired less than 30 days before diagnosis. Our documented timeline: •July 25, 2022 – Brought truck to Courtesy Ford for PCM reprogram under 21N03; told parts were backordered due to pandemic. After a week, we had to reclaim the truck for work needs. Service was poor, with no follow-up. •November 2022 – Returned truck; again no resolution or follow-up. •January 1, 2023 – Ford extended CSP under 21B10; still no symptoms at this time. •May 28, 2025 – Private shop diagnosed Cam Phaser failure; quoted ~$5,000. •August 2025 – Chose Canby Ford for better service; diagnosis confirmed repair needed at $5,225.18. The three calls to Ford Customer Service: 1.Call 1 – Opened initial case, told to bring truck for cold start diagnosis. 2.Call 2 – After delivering truck, spent an hour on hold and “updating” records; told CSP couldn’t be located and to call back after diagnosis. 3.Call 3 – After diagnosis, finally told we were ineligible because warranty expired less than 30 days prior; agent and supervisor claimed they could not override the system. At no point during the first two calls did anyone verify our eligibility or warn that warranty expiration would block assistance — meaning we invested significant time, followed Ford’s instructions, and left our truck on a service lot, only to be told we never qualified in the first place. My repair shop checked and it was the spark plug that needed replacing. The car was fine for 2 weeks then the engine light came on again. When speaking with the dealership they said that yes the code will usually first present as a coil or spark plug and the engine light stops blinking since it assigned a code. So that is why my engine light went off but now came back on. I am not sure why this should not be addressed by the manufacturer if so many people are having this issue with a head gasket issue with such low mileage. The issue involves the rear backup camera system on my 2013 Ford F-150. The camera functions intermittently — sometimes it goes completely black, other times it freezes and does not change image, and occasionally displays a message that says "Camera Unavailable." This happens unpredictably and may change mid-use, even while the vehicle is actively reversing.e component that has failed is the rea
... r-view backup camera system, which appears to be a software-related malfunction (as similar issues have been recalled in newer Ford models). The vehicle and system are available for inspection upon request. This failure presents a significant safety hazard. Because the camera may stop working mid-reverse, it can result in an inability to see behind the vehicle, potentially causing injury to pedestrians (especially children or people in blind spots), damage to property, or accidents in tight spaces. The inconsistent nature of the issue makes it particularly dangerous, as a driver may unknowingly rely on a malfunctioning system.Yes, I contacted the local Ford dealership to report the issue. They acknowledged the possibility of a software or system issue but stated I would need to pay $250 for a diagnostic, which would not go toward the cost of any repair. Due to the high diagnostic fee and the fact that this may be a systemic issue, I have not proceeded further yet. There were no prior warning lamps or alerts before the issue started. The only messages displayed occur at the moment of failure and include "Camera Unavailable" or a blank screen with no visual feed. These symptoms began in April 2025 and have continued sporadically since then.I am submitting this complaint because this is a serious safety concern, and I believe there may be a broader software issue affecting earlier Ford models, similar to those recalled in newer vehicles. As the driver, I should not bear responsibility for a system that is inherently defective and critical to safe vehicle operation.Read more

My 2017 Ford Escape began leaking transmission fluid in May of 2025. I had it assessed at my local engine and transmission exchange shop and they found that the leaking was coming from the font main seal and the front pump bushing of the transmission was damaged. The only fix to ensure that this issue would not happen again was to put a different transmission in the car, because this model was so
... prone to have this issue. I spent the money to have a new transmission installed and the car worked well. Two months later, however, the car began having episodes of not starting, or the engine completely shutting down, no matter where I was on the road. When this occurred, a messaged popped up on the dash counsel stating "Engine Fault, Service Now." I had the car looked at at the same car shop and they found the engine now had an issue. A head gasket was damaged allowing coolant to enter the piston cylinders, fluid locking the engine and shutting down the car. Like the transmission, the only repair is to replace the engine with a new model due to the original model being so prone to this issue. Ford does have a warranty for these issues for a model that is less than 7 years old and less than 84,000 miles. I purchased this vehicle preowned and already outside of that warranty date, therefore these expensive fixes are not covered.
