I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. A 37' trailer requires a minimum 178" tow vehicle wheelbase to counteract lat
... eral wind forces and semi-truck displacement. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable highway sway. The tailer's loaded tongue weight (1,223 to 1,529 lbs based on a 10,195 lb GVWR) physically overloads the truck's factory stamped 1,22o lb hitch receiver capacity. Immediately upon exiting the lot on Friday night, may 29, the rig experienced violent highway sway. I notified the sales associate that night, but received no safety instructions. For public safety, I returned the hazardous rig to the lot on Saturday morning, May 30. Instead of resolving the safety hazard, dealership personnel refused to let me speak to the general manager and executed two unauthorized alternations to mask the defects: 1. A technician intentionally over inflated my trucks tires to 57 PSI on the asphalt lot between the propane filling area and the store building. On site personnel explicitly admitted this was done to "stiffen the sidewalls because the trailer was rocking". 2. The dealer installed a Curt 10,000 lb weight distribution hitch (1,000 lb max tongue weight), which is completely overloaded by this trailer rating by up to 500 lbs. Staff took the rig behind a closed gate into Service Bay 2 to make undisclosed tension alterations to force the truck to look level, withholding all mechanical disclosure forms or explanations of services rendered. Staff then abandoned my truck in the drop off lot with the keys inside and ignored us for hours. The dealers blind alterations caused even more violent sway causing emergency grounding.Read more

While driving on I-95 North in the fast lane at highway speed, my 2023 Tesla Model Y experienced a sudden loss of propulsion and displayed a warning indicating the vehicle was shutting down. The vehicle rapidly decelerated and would not respond to acceleration or drive engagement. Steering remained functional, which allowed me to maneuver the vehicle across lanes to the shoulder to avoid a potent

After performing a hard reset, I was able to move the vehicle slowly off the roadway to a nearby location where it was later towed. This incident occurred without prior warning and created a significant safety hazard due to sudden loss of propulsion at highway speed.Read more

Faulty panel wiring but everything works on shore and truck power. Called Grand Design (case #00996054) and was told it was a bad LiFEPO4 battery . I open the distribution panel and the schematic shows I should have 2 red wires (one to converter and the other to the battery) but I only have 1. Solution: Issue was in the original wiring from the factory. I called GD again and tech noticed the red
... wire was there but incorrectly connected to the DC fuse panel side (essentially bypassing the converter) as "battery disconnect." For my sanity I spent $165, not reimburseable per GD, and had a RV service tech come out and confirm the wiring was now correct and was told once I got a new battery everything will work as intended. I purchased new smart LiFePO4 and now all 12V equipment works as it should both on and off shore power. In conclusion, I've had no battery power once both the OEM and replacement LiFePO4 batteries went dead because they were "NEVER/EVER" being charged since the batteries were "NOT CONNECTED". This meant the battery disconnect never functioned from the beginning and when the RV battery disconnect is switched to "off," it severs the connection between the battery and the RV's 12-volt DC system and therefore the battery will not power appliances or charge when connected to shore power. By connecting an RV battery directly to the 12V DC panel (bypassing the converter) means the battery becomes the sole power source for all 12-volt appliances. Issues: Limited power duration--12V items will run until the battery drains, which can happen in a few hours/days depending on usage. No automatic charging--The battery will not be recharged, as the converter is not in the loop. Once the battery dies, you will lose all 12V power. Safety risk--The battery is likely connected to the panel without a battery disconnect switch or proper fuses, creating a potential fire hazard if a short occurs.Read more

In early November 2025, while towing our 2024 Grand Design Momentum 344M M-Class fifth wheel toy hauler to a family Thanksgiving gathering, the rearmost driver-side leaf spring fractured and failed during travel. The trailer was towed by a 2024 Ram 3500 dually, properly rated for this unit, operated within all load ratings, and driven at normal cautious speeds at the time of failure. The failure r
... endered the trailer immobile and unsafe to move. It has remained in storage since the incident because the damaged suspension cannot support safe relocation. A leaf spring is a primary suspension component that is not customer-serviceable and not owner-maintained. The remaining leaf springs on the unit were inspected and are in good condition, indicating the failure was isolated to the defective spring rather than a result of abnormal use, overloading, or environmental exposure affecting the suspension system as a whole. This points to a manufacturing defect in the failed component. The trailer was purchased new from an authorized dealer (Blue Compass RV) in October 2024. The spring failed only weeks after the one-year factory warranty expired, at an extremely low service age for a primary structural suspension component. Safety concern: This failure happened at low speed, allowing a controlled stop without incident. Had it occurred at highway speed, likely consequences include sudden loss of trailer stability, axle and tire damage from the collapsed corner, trailer sway or jackknife, tire blowout, and potential loss of control of the tow vehicle. A loaded fifth wheel toy hauler of this size presents a severe hazard to occupants and surrounding motorists if suspension fails at speed. I am filing this report so NHTSA can track potential defect trends on Grand Design Momentum fifth wheels. Other owners of this model and model year may be at similar risk. Photographs, VIN, purchase documentation, and manufacturer correspondence available on request.Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding the frame manufactured by Lippert Components on my 2021 Grand Design Solitude 380FL (VIN [XXX] ). Lippert is the OEM supplier of the frame and has been directly involved in inspection and repair of ongoing structural failures. The unit has experienced repeated structural failures, including frame flex, broken welds, cracking of the main I-beam rails above both ax
... les, torn steel upper sill plates and suspension failures. These issues began within the manufacturer’s warranty period and required extensive factory repairs from December 2024 to February 2025, including reinforcement of the upper deck, weld repairs, sill plate replacement, and added gussets. Despite these repairs, new failures developed shortly after. In September 2025, a Lippert technician (dispatched at Grand Design’s request) identified new frame cracks above both axles, a bent outrigger support, and repeated suspension failure. These were not pre-existing conditions but occurred after factory structural repairs. In December 2025, Lippert performed additional field repairs, including welding the cracked frame, adding fishplates, reinforcing outriggers, and installing cross-members. These repairs were performed under engineering direction, and Lippert confirmed no standard TSB applied to this condition. Despite multiple repair attempts, the unit continues to exhibit structural-related issues, including cargo doors opening during transit and recurring suspension failures. These conditions indicate ongoing and unsafe frame deflection and instability. Grand Design has now stated their repairs are done per a customer satisfaction campaign, and attributed responsibility for any ongoing frame issues to Lippert, and has abandoned any further assistance with cargo doors opening during transit. This represents a systemic structural defect affecting safety, including risk of debris or components entering roadways and loss of structural integrity during travel. On Friday March 20, 2026, we traded in a Chevy Equinox to get a newer model which is the VIN number we listed in this complaint. Driving home from the dealership the vehicle went from drive to park on its own (driving at 65 miles/hr) and my husband had to immediately put the car physically back into drive. Once we finally got the vehicle to our house, I went out to check it, and the vehicle woul
... d not even start. Every single light came on yet it would not start up. We called On-Star and they couldn't do anything and told us we'd have to take it to the dealership. We finally got it to start up again, but the check engine light never went off. The next day my husband was able to get it started and immediately took it back to the dealership it was bought from, which it was actually transferred to from another dealership within the state, but on the way to the dealership we bought it from the car went into park on its own 5 more times, very dangerous and unacceptable. Once the car made it to the dealership, they could not even get the vehicle to shut off once they pulled in into the service area. My husband luckily is a professional driver, but is this was someone not as familiar or calm, this could have been a horrible catastrophe.Read more

The forward collision warning/automatic emergency braking has activated with no obstacle present, and the power steering assist has been lost intermittently. There is also an engine tick and a high-pitched whining noise from the engine/drivetrain area. In January 2026, the transmission catastrophically failed and required replacement of the transmission, torque converter, cooler, and control module. The vehicle was out of service for over 24 days. After installation of a new Mopar remanufactured transmission and torque converter, the same symptoms returned. AAMCO has now found that the new torque converter failed, with metal shavings throughout the transmission, in the fluid, and at the bottom of the pan. I was advised that the vehicle should be sent to a Jeep dealership because no codes are currently present. I was also advised that the dealership may replace only the torque converter rather than the entire transmission, despite recurring failure and metal contamination. This presents a safety concern due to loss of acceleration, unpredictable torque engagement, stalling, unintended braking activation, power steering loss, engine/drivetrain noise, and repeated drivetrain failure. I have all the records if requested, file is too large to send in the upload area.Read more

My 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (3.6L eTorque, automatic transmission) has had recurring drivetrain instability since about 2,000 miles while under factory warranty. It intermittently has high RPM flare during acceleration, delayed shifting, shuddering under load, and abrupt engagement. At low speeds (about 10–5 mph), it harshly downshifts, grabs suddenly, RPMs jump up and down, and it can feel li

I own a 2022 Grand Design Solitude 346FLS fifth wheel trailer. The trailer has been at the dealership for over nine months after structural frame cracks and weld separations were discovered during inspection. The cracks appear in structural frame components and welded areas supporting the chassis. This raises concerns about the integrity of the trailer frame during towing and braking. In addition
... to the frame defects, all four leaf springs in the suspension system have failed or lost structural integrity. This suspension failure presents a safety risk because it affects axle alignment, load support, and trailer stability while towing. The trailer manufacturer (Grand Design) and dealer have been notified, but the unit has remained out of service for an extended period while the manufacturer decides how to address the problem. Structural frame cracking combined with suspension failure represents a serious safety concern for a towable RV traveling at highway speeds. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated for potential defects affecting other trailers of this model or similar models.Read more

My 2016 Lexus NX200t with approximately 157,000 miles experienced sudden engine stalling, loss of acceleration, and the check engine light illuminated while driving. The loss of power created a dangerous situation because the vehicle was unable to accelerate normally in traffic. These symptoms are consistent with the defective low-pressure fuel pump recall affecting certain Toyota and Lexus vehic

The rear windshield on my Nissan Rogue shattered suddenly without any impact while the vehicle was parked. The glass appeared to explode outward. I later discovered other owners have reported similar issues with Rogue rear windshields shattering unexpectedly. I had to replace the glass immediately for safety and paid out of pocket for the repair. I am concerned this may be related to a defect in t

I own a 2025 Toyota Sienna affected by Safety Recall 25V668 involving second-row seat rails with suspected improper welds. Toyota sent a notice advising that no one should sit in or use a child restraint in the second-row seats until the repair remedy becomes available. However, there is currently no remedy available and no repair timeline. I have contacted both the dealership and Toyota multip
... le times over the past four months but have not received clear answers or a resolution. The dealership verbally told me I can continue transporting my children, which conflicts with the written safety notice from Toyota. I am a mother of six children and this vehicle is essential for transporting my family. Because the recall involves seating safety and there is no repair available, the vehicle cannot be safely used as intended. I am submitting this complaint due to lack of repair availability and lack of clear communication from the manufacturer.Read more

2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Received Stop-Drive letter from Stellantis/FCA on Takata airbag recall—front airbags may explode in crash, sending metal shards. Letter says do not drive until fixed. Called hotline (833-585-0144) twice yesterday & today—no help. Dealer (Corwin Springfield) says call Chrysler. No tow arranged despite free towing advertised for Stop-Drive. No loaner or rental offered.
... Can't drive safely—PTSD makes group transport impossible. Have VA medical appointment March 2nd & lawyer meeting March 3rd. Can't afford rental for weeks (they say mid-March fix). Manufacturer failed to remedy timely—need tow to dealer + transport/loaner now.Read more

• Cracks in the Pin Box: A reputable RV dealer/shop has identified significant cracks in the pin box, indicating a serious structural compromise. • Slide-out failures: The GIBs on the slide-outs have broken, causing them to extend while the RV is in transport on highways. • Cargo door malfunctions: Cargo doors are repeatedly popping open during highway travel. • Main entry door instabi
... lity: The front door and screen are not operating correctly, preventing proper closure and causing the door to open unexpectedly during transport. • Structural fastener failure: Screws and bolts are detaching from the unit during transport. • Front cap detachment: The front cap is popping open at the fifth-wheel hitch area and exhibiting significant sway during transport. These issues collectively indicate a severe underlying problem with the structural integrity and frame of the 2022 Grand Design Solitude, creating hazardous conditions for both the occupants and other road users. I urge NHTSA to investigate these defects thoroughly to prevent potential accidents and ensure consumer safety.Read more
