The infotainment display glass on my 2017 Toyota Yaris iA has a known adhesive defect that causes white "spider cracking" around the edges of the infotainment display and "ghost touches," where the touchscreen registers inputs without being touched. This can change music, navigation, phone, or menu settings while driving, creating a distraction and safety hazard. The issue occurs unpredictably a
... nd cannot be disabled by the driver, nor can the infotainment display be powered off as a solution. Mazda settled a lawsuit (Duffy, et al. v. Mazda Motor of America, Inc.) and issued Service Alert SA‑041/22 for this exact defect on the Mazda2, which uses the same Mazda‑built infotainment hardware as the Toyota Yaris iA. Toyota hasn't issued a recall or service campaign for the Yaris iA, even though the vehicles share the same components and the same adhesive failure that poses a safety risk. This defect affects driver attention and vehicle control, and should be investigated for a potential recall.Read more

My 2024 Volkswagen Atlas began displaying multiple warning messages involving the engine, drive system, and powertrain. Warning messages included “Engine: error start/stop,” “Drive system, please service vehicle,” and other engine/powertrain alerts. The vehicle has had intermittent check engine lights, shaking, rough operation, abnormal noises, and repeated warning messages that disappear
... and then return. This is a serious safety issue. The vehicle has lost power, stopped working, failed while in use, and broken down. On one occasion, when I attempted to drive forward, the vehicle moved backward instead. The vehicle displays repeated drive system and engine warnings and becomes unreliable during operation. I have children and regularly transport them in this vehicle, and I do not believe this vehicle is safe to drive. The vehicle is still under factory warranty, but I have been unable to obtain timely warranty service. The Volkswagen dealership in Jackson, Mississippi advised they have severe staffing limitations and limited diagnostic availability, and I was told I need to take the vehicle to another state for service. I was also told by Volkswagen customer service that towing assistance may be available under warranty, but when connected with towing assistance I was advised coverage was only for a very limited distance 6 miles! I was quoted approximately $1,900 to tow the vehicle to the available Volkswagen service location in Louisiana. Because the vehicle is not safe or reliable to drive, I have also been forced to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle while attempting to obtain warranty repairs. VW refused to help me with a loaner or rental. I am filing this complaint because these issues appear to involve the engine, electrical system, and powertrain and create a serious risk of loss of power, unexpected movement, breakdown, or failure while driving.Read more

I was driving at normal speed on XXX XXX parkway getting on to the XXX crossing, when I drove over a pothole. The passenger side curtain airbag suddenly deployed even though there was no collision. I couldn't find a safe place to pull over and proceeded to the next exit which was luckily only a few hundred feet away. Visibility on the passenger side of the car was completely blocked and it was challenging to drive safely to a safe place where I can pull over. This is the exact failure described in Honda recall campaign UNW, which acknowledges incorrect SRS ECU deployment parameters causing inadvertent curtain airbag deployment from road impacts. I called the Honda recall center and they verbally committed to repairing it completely and told me to bring it to a dealership. I brought the car to Honda Universe at 1085 Ocean Ave, Lakewood NJ, an authorized Honda dealer that said they would not perform the repair unless Honda corporate sends written authorization to pay for it. I called corporate back and was told a case manager needs to be assigned within 48 hours, a process they had not previously mentioned. I am currently left with a car with deployed airbags with no approval and with no timeline provided as well as no loaner or rental vehicle offered. There were no SRS lights or indication of any issue with this system prior to this incident. The component is available for inspection at the dealer. No accident or collision occurred. The airbag deployment was caused solely by a road impact triggering the defective SRS software that Honda has acknowledged and recalled. The Manual Speed Limit Assist, or MSLA, feature unintendedly activated while I was driving, nearly causing a collision. I was initially unable to deactivate this steering-wheel based feature, as: (1) I did not intentionally press any buttons to activate it, and: (2) I had to balance the need to visually monitor other vehicles on the highway to avoid a collision and simultaneously figure out how to
... cancel this feature, which places a limit on the speed that the vehicle can travel. Instead of claiming that this feature malfunctioned, I am claiming that it is an egregiously, poorly designed and dangerous feature. The button to activate it is located on the steering wheel; consequently, a driver can easily activate it without meaning to do so. This inadvertent activation happened to me twice, each time impeding, however briefly, my ability to safely navigate a busy road. This feature was not identified when I purchased the vehicle; however, earlier this year Hyundai belatedly sent a letter to its customers titled "Understanding Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA) Feature," pointing out how to activate and disengage the feature (and providing a link to a website for a tutorial with more information: [XXX] . The engine wiring harness insulation near the ignition coil connectors prematurely deteriorated due to prolonged exposure to engine heat in the turbocharger/exhaust area. Multiple wiring connectors exhibited brittle, cracked insulation with exposed conductors. The degraded wiring began shorting within the ignition system, causing engine misfires, ignition circuit faults, and eventual loss of engi
... ne operation. While being operated by a rental customer the vehicle developed severe misfires followed by electrical shorting, smoke, localized flames in the engine harness area, and eventual engine shutdown. The flames self-extinguished after the electrical shorting stopped, but portions of the harness insulation showed thermal damage and overheating. The customer became stranded due to the vehicle becoming inoperable. Diagnostic faults included ignition coil circuit open faults and ignition primary circuit faults. The vehicle ultimately became inoperable due to the electrical failure. Inspection revealed multiple adjacent ignition harness connectors showing progressive heat-related insulation degradation in the same high-temperature area, indicating a broader harness material failure rather than isolated damage. This failure occurred on a 5-year-old vehicle. Engine wiring harness insulation should not prematurely degrade and short under normal operating conditions.Read more

Our 2017 Ford Edge Titanium had its engine check light go on at 61,000 miles on April 6, 2026. So we brought it into our local Ford dealership (where we purchased it new) the next day on April 7. We were told that diagnostics showed there was a coolant intrusion and we would need to basically rebuild the engine (long block) for $9,900! This is very frustrating since we bought an extended warrant
... y at the time of purchase and had our car regularly brought in for maintenance. We did everything expected as an owner. No surprise, our extended warranty was good up 60,000. Reading up about the problem with coolant intrusion, it seems a class action was taken with Ford but only on their 4 cylinder engines. However, I've found many other Edge owners (with the same 6 cylinder engine we have) who were dealing with coolant intrusion and costly repairs as well. Whether it's a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder it's apparent Ford had some manufacturing issues on their engine blocks that cause coolant to leak into the cylinders and I feel they should be held responsible for the 6 cylinders as well.Read more

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the handling of repairs on my Chrysler Pacifica and the significant financial and personal impact this situation has caused my family. The issue began when the engine suddenly stopped, leaving us stranded. The vehicle was first taken to an insurance-recommended shop that could not diagnose the issue, then transferred to Wischsnewsky Dodge in
... Baytown, TX. There, we were told the problem was the starter and fuse box. Based on their professional assessment, we approved costly repairs, which required financing. However, just one day after picking up the vehicle, it failed to start again. This not only showed a lack of proper diagnosis, but also placed my wife and children in an unsafe situation. We were also forced to cancel a prepaid family trip due to lack of transportation. The dealership retrieved the vehicle and promised a loaner, but none has been provided after more than two weeks. We have since incurred additional expenses for rentals and rideshare services. We are now being told the issue may be a head gasket failure—something that could have been identified earlier with a basic test and is reportedly a known issue with this model. The estimated cost to replace the engine per the dealership is $16,000. At this point, we have taken on debt for ineffective repairs and continue to face mounting costs without a clear resolution. I am requesting immediate assistance from Chrysler to address this situation and provide a fair outcome.Read more

While driving my 2013 F-150 the vehicle suddenly downshifts into 1st gear while driving in the city and remains there. At faster speeds the truck will downshift to 5th gear and remain there regardless of deceleration. This has been accompanied by a check engine light. The truck had the code P-0722. When this happens it is extremely unsafe and unpredictable. This causes an immediate and abrupt redu
... ction in speed and a near-loss of vehicle control. This defect poses an unreasonable risk of a high-speed accident, especially when towing or on wet surfaces. A diagnostic scan at a Ford dealership confirmed the failure of the molded lead frame. The vehicle exhibited diagnostic trouble code P0722 which is the specific indicators for the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor and lead frame failure. These are the exact symptoms and codes identified in NHTSA Recall 26V237. Ford recently issued Recall 26S28 (NHTSA 26V237) on April 14, 2026, for this exact safety defect in later-model F-150s with the same 6R80 transmission. My 2013 vehicle is suffering from the identical root cause—degradation of electrical connections in the lead frame—yet Ford is currently refusing to provide a safety remedy at no cost, citing the age of the vehicle.
