Complete Engine Failure at 83,986 miles and no prior signs that it was defective. Had GM initially look at it and they refused to cover the repair and indicated that it was due to faulty lifters. Took it to an independent shop, they tore it all down and indicated the lifters had trays that were not tight, which allowed the lifters to eat away at the camshaft. Due to that, metal shavings got into t
... he main engine bearings and that is what ultimately caused the engine failure. While questioning how a new engine would be any more reliable than the one that failed, I was told that all engine suppliers were aware of the sloppy lifter play and the needed cam changes and new parts were all maid to a tighter spec so that this would not happen in the future. GM is fully aware of this issue and fortunately for me it did not result in my engine failing on the highway like others have. I was left with a $14,969.74 repair bill on something that should have never happened. I talked with current GM master technicians, and they indicated to me to stay away from anything pre 2025 because all engines were made to the same spec and they don't know why a change was not made sooner.Read more

Around June 2025 under normal driving my truck displayed engine oil low which I promptly checked the oil to find that it was in range. The light later went off but I still brought it to the dealership to which they could find no issues. From there over the next month or so the truck developed a low end popping sound on start up and at my next oil change at the dealership in August of 25 I asked th
... em to listen to see if they heard it and could recommend a course of action. They reported not hearing anything. On October 19th I had my family in the truck with me and during normal acceleration the engine had a loud pop sound and lost power. Every warning light came on and I pulled over promptly when safe. I had it towed to the dealership and their initial diagnosis was a failure on cylinder 4 with a suspected failure of either the cam shaft or lifter. Given the poor design of the lifter I didn’t want to go back with the OEM lifter so I had it towed to an aftermarket shop. It is there now and they are in the process of tearing down the engine. After watching a video on YouTube I fear my truck is part of the connecting rod bearing failure under PE25-001. My understanding is there is an official investigation into the trucks outside the initial recall. I wanted to submit this for your review as the truck only had 74,000 miles. Freeman GMC in Grapevine, Tx has performed all the maintenance and should have documentation.Read more

The rear backup camera in my 2020 GMC Terrain failed. I first noticed and noted that the image was 'cloudy' on 5/3/2023, and it became very bad by 1/22/2024. On 7/1/2024, the image stopped working completely, replaced with a blue screen on the dashboard screen. I ordered a new camera and replaced it myself on 8/1/2024. Because the dealership did not mention any safety effects or recalls, and
... instead quoted me a very expensive repair estimate, and the vehicle was out of its 3 year warranty, I assumed it was my responsibility to repair this feature. However, I have seen recent news articles where other vehicles have been recalled by NHTSA for similar problems with backup cameras.Read more

When parking the vehicle the electrical system will put a warning on the dash indicating you are not in park. A message indicates shift to park. The car will not shut off and you cannot lock the vehicle. This happened when I first bought the vehicle and it was under warranty and repaired. It is now happening a second time in 2025.

I am Having direct issues with the engine when the vehicle is started and continues while idling or driving at any rate of speed. There's a continuous "Knocking" noise that has concerned me for a while now. My vehicle (2020 GMC Sierra 6.2 liter gas engine) with almost 100,000 miles has been doing this for a while now (at approximately 50,000 miles) and (was documented at the dealership when I made
... a complaint which included what I considered the vehicle to be using/losing more "oil consumption" than the normal 3-4 quarts between oil change) dating back to 2022 0r 2023 when I was told by the dealership that the amount of oil being used/ lost still fit within the manufacturers specifications.Read more

I purchased a used 2019 GMC Acadia from Grieco Honda around November 20, 2023. They showed me a CarFax report indicating the vehicle had never been in an accident. Immediately after the purchase, I reported several issues and attempted to return the car under their 30-day warranty. However, the salesperson convinced me not to return it, assuring me that they would address all of the problems. Fro
... m the beginning, I complained that the car shook violently when driving between 45–60 mph, especially during acceleration. The vehicle took an unusually long time to heat up, and the brakes were loud and squeaky. A few months later, after driving over a large speed bump, the airbag warning light turned on. During my next oil change, I mentioned this issue, along with a problem with the window sensor. They dismissed my concerns and told me to take the car to GMC across the street because they lacked the tools to diagnose it. At GMC Hurd, I was told the diagnostic service would cost $160 and that I would need to leave the vehicle for the day. At the time, I couldn’t leave the car because I needed it to pick up my children. Now, in November 2025, my inspection is due. I brought the car back to GMC, and they informed me that the vehicle had been in a major accident prior to my ownership. They discovered that the airbags had previously deployed and were stuffed back into the driver’s seat and sewn shut. I have never been in an accident with this car. I reported this to Grieco since they were the ones who inspected the vehicle in November 2023 and passed it. I believe they managed to get the car through inspection without properly or thoroughly examining it before selling it to me. They have dismissed my concerns and told me there is nothing they can do. This is outrageous, as the airbags would not have deployed in an emergency, putting my safety at serious risk.Read more

The contact was informed that parts of the brake vacu

The "Steering Assist is Reduced" warning came on the same time the engine thermostat display stopped working. Then the check engine light came on the same time the AC stopped working. But the "Steering Assist" warning continued and the engine thermostat display was still stuck on "Cold" no matter what (note: the oil t

The risk of engine overheating is HUGE and dangerous. I called GMC and they want to charge and arm and a leg to fix it (the car has 47000 miles so is just out of warranty). I don't want to wait until there is an accident to have something done about this.Read more

My a/c went out within 2 years of having the car in 22’. In 2025 i have had nothing but problems, the radio will go out when im driving for about 2 hours and it resets, the screen goes black, music stops, navigation stops and then it turns on like nothing happened. It happens everytime I drive 2+ hours. Back in September of 2025, I was on my way to work when I was stopped at a red light, it tu

I was stuck in the middle of the road not knowing what happened as the car had driven fine up until i stopped at the red light. Then tonight November 21,2025 around 0315 I was leaving work, I started my car, my car threw up a message that said “Low fuel, 0 miles” I had half a tank of gas when I got to work. I turned my car off then back again and it did the same thing. I let my car sit for a second and then my Gas gauge started to slowly increase to the correct amount of gas. Then when I got home (3 mile drive from work) I turned my car off and then back on and this time when I turned the car on my brakes were locked and I couldn’t start my car. All of the Engine lights were on so I turned the car off and then let it sit for a minute before trying to start it. When I tried to start it this time, I couldn’t. It’s like the car had died and was getting no power. I couldn’t lock my car, no lights were working, I couldn’t turn it on or start it. Some time went by and my interior lights were on so then I started the car and it’s almost like my car reset. I can’t see my tires PSI, the clock went to midnight (it was about 0330) it was all just very weird!!Read more

I just surpassed my extended warranty (5 year/100,000 miles) by a couple of thousand miles and my coolant control valve has gone out. After pulling my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT into a parking space at a local store, I shut off the engine. I observed the lighted ignition switch and the dash icons were illuminated even though the engine was completely off. Having had my foot on the brake at the time I decided to test the ignition switch to determine why it was lit while the engine was off. When I pressed the start button there was
... a loud, whining starter like sound, grinding like metal on metal. The noise was so alarming that I immediately took my hand off the ignition. The engine was still off. After waiting a significant amount of time I tried to restart the engine. Exactly the same thing occurred. On the final attempt to start the engine, 15-20 minutes later, it started and ran quietly like nothing had ever happened. On returning to the vehicle my wife asked what all the loud grinding noise was about. She had heard it while she was inside the store. I advised her it was our truck! The incident was shocking to us both and because of its bizarre nature I was afraid to drive the vehicle back home. As I already had an appointment on November 6 at DeLuz Chevy for another incident, I called them on November 3 to add this incident to the existing appointment. Sudden power loss in traffic exposes the driver and surrounding motorists to an increased risk of collision, particularly during lane changes, freeway merging, intersection crossings, and passing maneuvers. The dealership confirmed internal injector failure, and the vehicle has been out of service for three months without resolution. This is a safety-critical defect that compromises vehicle controllability, stability, and safe operation on public roads.”Read more

When DRIVING the center console screen begins to glitch. It will begin to move around and try to connect to the internet, begin to track navigation, connect to my phone and make calls, or it will just started moving back and forth from the different screens. It also makes sounds while it is glitching. It's incredibly distracting when I am trying to drive. There are a number of online forums that

"STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED" This message appears on the instrument panel once in a while, and I have to get a mechanic to reset it. Many other people who drive the 2018 GMC Acadia, are reporting the same problem. This occurs so frequently on this model, that it obviously was a manufacturing design flaw.

The engine in my vehicle has failed twice while driving at highway speed. Both times, the engine suddenly stalled without warning, causing an immediate loss of propulsion, lighting, and steering assist. Each failure occurred at night, and I had to coast to the shoulder in the dark with limited control while other vehicles traveled at high speed. During the second incident, two children were in the
... vehicle. Both events created a serious risk of a collision or injury. The failure involves the primary propulsion system. After the first incident, the dealer replaced the engine and performed recall-related updates. Months later, the replacement engine failed in the same way. The dealer inspected the vehicle after each incident, confirmed the failures, and is replacing the engine again. The issue has therefore been reproduced and verified by the service center. There were no warning lights, messages, noises, or drivability symptoms before either failure. The engine stalled suddenly both times. A separate exterior trim piece, previously repaired under a recall, also detached while driving, adding an additional hazard. Both engine failures and the sudden loss of lighting and power created a clear and immediate safety risk to occupants and surrounding traffic. The repeated nature of the defect after a full engine replacement raises concern that the underlying issue has not been resolved.Read more

While driving my Sierra AT4, my engine shut off with no previous indication of a problem. The dash simply said to restart the vehicle. Unable to do so, I coasted the vehicle into a parking lot. Once it was diagnosed to be a defective engine, I replaced it with a new GM long block assembly paid out of pocket as the vehicle had 210,000 miles on it and was well out of warranty coverage. The first rep
... lacement engine lasted 15,000 miles before developing a spun bearing in the engine. GM did cover replacement of the engine assembly. The 2nd replacement engine was installed 12/2022 and lasted until 2/2025. Same engine seizure problem as the original due to the bearing failures that plague this engine series. Engines have always run 0-w20 Mobil1 synthetic as recommended by GM. Vehicle is currently waiting for GM to make a decision to cover it or not.Read more

Informant system tells me that the engine oil is low every time right at about 1,000 miles after I change the oil. There have been times where the engine has hesitated to accelerate shortly after receiving the message. I've taken truck to be serviced with no oil leaks found. I purchased this truck with 21,000 miles on it, and it's been doing this ever since I've had it.

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while driving approximately 68 MPH, the vehicle vibrated abnormally, with a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment, with the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that lifter #7 had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact state

The contact stated that approximately 5 days later, on October 2, 2025, while reversing, there was a burning odor with black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic and was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the warranty only provided the replacement of 2 head gaskets. After 7 days of having the vehicle, while driving approximately 68 MPH, the vehicle started shaking with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was also idling roughly. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The fuel pump was replaced; however, the vehicle was idling roughly, and there was an intermittent misfire in cylinders #1 and #6. The dealer was unable to identify which cylinders needed to be replaced. The contact discovered information of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. My 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with the 6.2L L87 V8 just began experiencing a new rough idle with intermittent RPM dips. There are no engine codes or warning lights. Idle drops are noticeable, suddenly began this week. I am concerned due to ongoing NHTSA Engineering Analysis EA25-007 involving this engine. Some owners reported engine failure with little warning. The truck has right over 68,000 m
... iles on it and has had every oil changed performed at a GM dealer. I have had to top off the oil between cycles and always used the recommended oil, being the Dexos Gen 3 due to the truck burning a small amount of oil. More detail on a possible cause. I believe it would be worth investigating the DFM technology. I will be performing a fuel cleaner and possibly a lifter cleaner and/or additive. I would like to tune the truck and turn off the DFM since this is what I have read causes the truck to burn oil and damage the lifters. However, I will wait until this Analysis is completed before deciding to change the truck's stock tunes.Read more
