At approximately 30,000 miles, the front left suspension lateral link/control arm separated while driving due to a missing mounting fastener (bolt), resulting in sudden steering instability and abnormal front wheel movement. Vehicle handling became unpredictable and felt unsafe to control, creating risk of loss of steering control. I stopped driving immediately. There was no collision, curb strik
... e, pothole, or road hazard at the time of the incident. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to the failure; it occurred suddenly without advance notice. Tesla Service inspected and confirmed the separation and missing fastener. Suspension components and the front subframe assembly were replaced —$4,400 out of pocket. Tesla documented they could not make a formal cause determination. The recovered bolt is intact and available for inspection upon request. Insurance also reviewed the incident and classified it as mechanical rather than collision-related. Because this involves a safety-critical steering/suspension fastener failure without warning, I am submitting this report for safety tracking. I am aware of similar owner reports describing suspension fastener or lateral link separation on this vehicle generation in case this reflects a broader pattern.Read more

The 2016-2022 White double cab Toyota Tacomas have a known paint flaking/peeling issue. On 2/1/2026 while drying my truck after its wash, on the driver’s rear door by the window rubber trim my paint was flaking off. On 2/2/26 I spoke with an agent at Toyota Corporation (but she was on the Lexus side) about my issue and was told my VIN was not part of the Customer Support Program 23TE08 and she d

On 2/3/26 I spoke with another agent at Toyota Corporation (this time Toyota side) about my issue and she knew about the paint issue but told me that my VIN was not part of that program. I told her that my paint flaking/peeling issue was the same issue that Toyota was having on their 2016-2022 and mine is a 2022 Tacoma. The Location of my paint flaking/peeling issue the same place where other white Tacomas were experiencing the same problem. It’s a know problem and Toyota needs to fix my paint issue but they seem to not want to extend to include my VIN. I’m frustrated with the fact that my truck only has 35,132 miles at the time of me writing this complaint and spent well over $45,000 for a truck that’s 4 years old for the paint to fail.Read more

About 4 weeks ago my vehicle began shaking uncontrollably while driving. Later that day I drove less than 5 miles to pick up my children from s
... chool. During that drive the vehicle filled with a strong gasoline odor and exhaust fumes were overwhelming. I feared the vehicle could catch fire. I contacted the dealership again, stated the vehicle was unsafe, dropped it off at approximately 8:00 PM and was required to obtain my own rental vehicle. After one week I was told the engine required a camshaft and lifter replacement. Inspected & approved by extended warranty, parts were ordered and installed. I retrieved the vehicle on 23 days after the initial failure. The following morning (24th day) while driving approximately 75 mph on a major interstate with my children the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral and would not re-engage. I was unable to shift into any gear and coasted to a narrow shoulder inches from traffic and guardrail. The dashboard stated the vehicle could not shift into gear and instructed me to push the start button. The engine would not restart. We were stranded approximately two hours in 10-degree weather on a major interstate with heavy semi-truck traffic. Roadside assistance was required. 3 days later the dealership stated the failure was a fuse block. After replacement the vehicle was test driven and stated to be operating normally. A second dealership employee test drove the vehicle, it died again and had to be towed back to the dealership. The battery was replaced after draining while disabled. Repeated mechanical and electrical failures resulted in complete loss of power at highway speeds and placed my children and me in immediate danger. I no longer believe this vehicle is safe to operate.Read more

While driving on a highway, the vehicle intermittently suffers a sudden loss of engine power during acceleration, accompanied by a flashing check engine light. The most serious event occurred while merging into traffic when the vehicle failed to accelerate normally and briefly lost power, creating a risk of being struck by faster-moving vehicles. Pulling over and restarting temporarily restores no
... rmal acceleration, but the problem recurs. The malfunction appears consistent with an engine misfire/powertrain fault. An OBD scan has shown misfire-related diagnostic codes (random/multiple misfire and a cylinder-specific misfire). The condition is intermittent and often occurs after approximately 10–45 minutes of driving. The vehicle remains available for inspection. The vehicle has been presented to authorized service departments multiple times. Dealers reported they were unable to duplicate the issue during road testing and no lasting repair has been completed. The manufacturer has been contacted and the vehicle has been evaluated through authorized service channels, but the underlying cause has not been identified. This remains a safety hazard because it reduces acceleration in traffic. Incident list: • 10/25/2025 (~12:25 PM; ~3,108 miles): Loss of power while merging; flashing CEL; restart temporarily resolved. • 10/27/2025–11/04/2025: Intermittent recurrence, usually lasting a few minutes then clearing. • 11/05/2025 (~8:01 AM; ~3,641 miles): Flashing CEL and misfire/loss-of-power symptoms; taken for service. • 11/26/2025 (~10:06 AM): Another episode consistent with the same pattern. • 12/17/2025 (~8:21 AM): Another episode, including during travel to a service visit. • Ongoing: Episodes after ~10–45 minutes; sometimes requires restart to restore drivability. Observed codes: P0300 and P0301. Safety risk: loss of power during acceleration/merging increases risk of rear-end or side-impact collision.Read more
