Internal engine failure Car just shut off on expressway, putting the safety of my husband and child at risk. Waiting for a tow at 12:30 in the morning. Problem has been confirmed by dealer. Starting at around 1300 miles, we noticed jerking upon acceleration. We took it into the dealership at 1500 due to a check engine light. They replaced the coil in cylinder 1. In September of 2025 my 2022 GMC Yukon AT4 6.2L V8 passed the test for the 25V-274 recall. The dealer did necessary fix with the higher viscosity oil. As of January 6th my Yukon has been in the shop with engine failure. My Yukon needs a new engine, so clearly the fix with using higher viscosity oil did not work.

Driving at 35 mph in traffic and the RPMs started to increase to 3500rpm and vehicle started to slow down inevitably putting me into Reduced Acceleration..limp mode. Truck would not shift into Reverse either once I could safely merge out of traffic and put into park. Very very dangerous and scary situation.

I have the L87- 6.2 V8 and my crankshaft bearings burned up at highway speeds and the truck shut down. The is a massive recall on this engine for this reason but does not include the 2019 model and it most definitely should. The issue started in 2019 (not 2021).

Driving down the inter state lost power and RPM raised, oil light came on and said to shut off. We checked the oil it was fine. Got back on the road then a knocking started and the vehicle shut off. I tried to start again and it wouldn’tand hour or so later it started and was knocking bad, I turned it back off. called tow truck driver to have it towed to the dealership.

While driving back home from my trip the truck all a sudden made a squealing noise and the engine just stopped. I was on the high way . I was able to coast the vehicle off onto the exit ramp. The vehicle was towed home. The following day it was towed to the repair shop. The shop has confirmed engine failure. Will need to replace the engine . Still waiting for warranty approval.
