Complete engine failure. The dealership kept the engine. This happened at a low rate of speed but it would have been much worse if on the highway. Yes the engine was completely replaced. The check engine light came on and their was a loud ticking noise coming from the engine.
Incident date: Apr 8, 2026
I was driving to work when my vehicle’s check engine light illuminated, accompanied by a warning message stating, “Low oil pressure—turn vehicle off.” I immediately followed this instruction and shut the vehicle off. When I attempted to restart it, the engine cranked repeatedly before finally starting, but the same warning message reappeared, prompting me to turn it off again. A few months
... prior, I had the vehicle inspected at the dealership, where I was informed that it passed the 6.2L engine national recall inspection. On April 9, 2026, the vehicle was towed to the dealership for further evaluation. On April 10, I was contacted and informed that technicians could hear a metallic noise coming from the engine. However, they stated that the readings from the PICO test were not high enough to meet the criteria for engine replacement. The dealership recommended replacing the camshaft position sensor but could not confirm whether this repair would resolve the issue. They also indicated that I would be responsible for all associated costs. Despite the presence of concerning symptoms, including abnormal engine noise and repeated warning messages, I was advised that General Motors would not approve an engine replacement unless the engine either completely seizes or fails both required diagnostic tests. At this time, my vehicle has only failed one of the two tests. As a result, I have been left without a reliable and safe vehicle, which is significantly impacting my ability to commute to work. This situation places me at risk of financial hardship and potential job loss. I am seeking a resolution that ensures my vehicle is properly diagnosed and repaired so that it is safe to operate.Read more

ENGINE LOCK UP WITH 5018 MILES ON, IT IS A THE 6.2 MOTOR ROD AND CRANK BAD
Incident date: Apr 6, 2026
I had left work and pulled out of the parking lot to head towards the freeway. I had driven about 3 blocks and the truck made an indicator alert noise. My dash panel said reduced power mode or something to that effect. The truck felt as if it lost power. Luckily I was able to pull to the side of the road at which point I put it into park and shut it off. I waited a moment and then tried to restart
... it. The dash panel said something but it was too fast for me to read before it went away. The engine was cranking but it did not restart. I tried several more times before calling roadside assistance to have it towed to a nearby dealership. The dealership said that I would need to replace the engine $18,751.92. They said the Camshaft RPM are 0 while the crankshaft RPM is 2-300. Lifters and Rockers are not moving. The chain is most likely broke as well. The fuel pressure is about 30 psi in the high side. It would be just as expensive if not more to try and repair the existing engine if it is even repairable which they wouldn't know until they took it apart at which point I would have to pay for that as well even if it was not salvageable. They would need to replace the oil lines and cooler as well because debris from the engine could be in them and would do more damage if not replaced. I had already replaced the oil lines and cooler within the last 6 months. The truck has 114,000 miles. My warranty still had 3 months on it but the mileage stopped at 100,000 so I am out of luck. When I researched online to see what it could be I saw there are known problems with this 6.2 L87 engine and that many fail around 100,000 miles. There are other recalls but the 2019 was not included in the recall. If I choose to have the work done it will take several weeks in which I will now have to rent a car as well. Not much of a choice when I still owe $30,000 and they only offered me $9,000 for it as is with the bad engine.Read more

This has not been inspected by anyone besides the dealership it was towed to and the dealership I bought the truck from and use for service. My truck was in the shop many times prior to this. Had to have the cam shaft replaced before the recall fix was published to dealerships. Once fixed my wife picked it up with my child and once they left the dealership it started vigorously shaking again and she brought it back to be told it was a fault plug and plug wire. Once our VIN came up for recall it passed the test and they put new oil in and sent me on my way. A couple weeks later it was acting strange again and I brought it back for them to again say it was a faulty plug/wire. About two weeks after this is when the engine locked up. Truck has 38,000 miles and doesn’t feel safe for our family. What can we do?!Read more
