Incident date: Feb 12, 2026
The vehicle experienced a major engine failure involving the 6.2L engine. The failure appeared sudden and premature and is not consistent with normal wear and tear for a vehicle of this type. Prior to the failure, there were intermittent performance concerns and warning indicators suggesting potential engine or drivetrain issues. The vehicle had previously undergone repair related to similar conc
... erns, indicating a possible recurring problem. The failure created a potential safety risk due to the possibility of loss of power while driving, which could increase the risk of an accident, especially at highway speeds or in traffic. The issue has been confirmed by a service provider, and the vehicle requires significant repair. General Motors has been notified but has declined repair assistance, classifying the issue as wear and tear. While no active recall is currently associated with this specific vehicle, similar vehicles with the same engine platform have documented issues, raising concerns about reliability and safety. The failed components are available for inspection upon request.Read more

On March 3rd 2026, I went to a doctors appointment. Halfway into the 50 minute drive, I noticed the on the infotainment screen that my GPS was still showing me being at home. After my Dr appointment, I did some online research and followed recommended procedure to do a hard reset of the infotainment/radio to try and refresh the sign
... al. Didn't work so I checked the recommended fuse and it was good. Realized that the OnStar and truck's cellular/data was also not working. After more research, I found that it's a very commonly reported issue on 2022-2024 trucks. Apparently the Telematics module will freeze/glitch or fail. Took my truck down to American Chevrolet on April 13th for the Data Gateway Module recall# N242435631 and asked their service advisor if he could find out what's going on. After the recall was performed, he verified that the Telematics module is indeed dead but, because I'm at 39,000 miles, they could not fix it at no cost. The biggest reason why I've been driving this truck so frequently is because it's the safest truck we have and the Automatic Crash Response & Emergency GPS gives my girlfriend some piece of mind when traveling with our two sons. She now refuses to travel with me in the truck. I'm also upset that the cellular data is paid up until I believe March of 2027 and now I can't use services paid for but, I'm more concerned about the safety features that are no longer working. For this part to completely fail or lock up at under 40k miles is absolutely absurd. I'm going to request a Good Faith repair through GMC but, I want this to be documented. Thank you for your review of this problem.Read more

I am the original owner and have always maintained the vehicle to GM standards. I feel that the recall is not solving this problem, because the engines are failing anyway. At this time my vehicle has been at the dealership service department for three and a half weeks, and is waiting on the replacement engine. The dealership has provided a loaner vehicle.Read more

The engine coolant temperature sensor has failed on my 2019 GMC Canyon. The check engine light is illuminated, the temperature gauge does not register correctly, the air conditioning has been disabled by the vehicle's computer, and the engine cooling fan continues to run after the engine is turned off. These symptoms are consistent with the vehicle entering fail-safe mode due to loss of a valid co

The mechanic attempted to source a replacement part through GMC but was informed the part was unavailable. The reason for the parts unavailability is unknown, though in his experience, it typically means that the manufacturer is stocking up and preparing for a recall This issue appears to be widespread across 2017–2020 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado V6 trucks based on extensive owner forum documentation. The safety concern is significant: without reliable coolant temperature monitoring, there is no assurance the engine is operating within safe thermal limits, and the driver has no warning if overheating occurs. The disabled A/C also creates a safety risk during periods of extreme heat. The vehicle has approximately 60,000 miles. The problem has been present for approximately three months and is ongoing.Read more

I was driving down the road at 55 mph on 4/12/2026 and had let off the gas for a 45 mph zone when I experienced a violent downshift of the transmission that squealed the tires momentarily and felt like someone had hit me from behind. It startled me and caused me to lower my speed down to 20 mph. I continued driving to my destination and when I let off of the gas doing 45 mph for a slight curve I

I contacted a GMC dealer on 4/13.2026 to see if there was a recall on the transmission that I wasn't seeing online and was told no. I described what I experienced to their service department and was told to flush out the transmission fluid and replace the filter. I did experience another bad downshift at a slower speed (about 25 mph) on 4/13/2026. There wasn't any warnings or lights that came on when these three incidents occurred. When looking online I did see there was a similar recall for 2020-2022 GMC Sierra's where customers were experiencing similar violent transmission downshifts and am wondering if this issue is affecting more than just those three model years.Read more

Hello. I got a recall and fixed in July 2021 for Blind Spot Sensors/Modules on my 2016 GMC Acadia SLT. Now 3.5 years later Im having the same issue with these sensors that are located in the rear bumper of the car, they get water damage, corrosion, and then fail. A very poor design. They said it would be about $2000 to fix. I feel like this prematurely failed and it was recalled once for the same issue but now failed again is crazy after 3.5 years. This shouldn't be a on going thing especially after a recall. I shouldn't have to pay for this outta my own pocket for a flawed design and would like my repairs for this to be covered again. Please help. Attached is a invoice from July of 2021 recall that was repaired. I only got a verbal estimate from the dealership (text messages) which I do have. saying that it would be a $2000 fix this time. I didn't go through with it because I feel like it should be covered. Attached pictures of sensor/module in rear bumper that is corroded. Lights on both side mirrors will come on and stay on. Won't shut off. Messages on dash saying "Service Side Dectection System". Blind zone setting won't shut off.Read more

And seems like the recall didn't fixed the issue either. This must to be a common issue for this car, lots of c
... omplaints online even after the recall. And the car dealership wont cover it because it was already fixed at that time and my warranty on my car expired not to long ago. I was told water infiltrated my backup camer

I have a 2019 GMC AT4 and it has stalled on the highway multiple times and smokes every time I started. I have read that the engine in it has been recalled on multiple other years but the one I purchased needs a $25,000 repair and it’s not safe to drive. There is not a current recall, but I’ve read that this engine on almost all the other trucks and SUVs that have it have had problems.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine, battery and alternator seem to be failing or not working together. Car will sit in garage for less than 12 hours and will not start the next morning. Take the battery and alternator to get tested and everything passes. Have had the battery tested at multiple times but believe this is due
... to engine recall. Check engine light comes on, we take it to the GMC dealer and they say they can't determine the issue or why it is happening. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car will not start or check engine light comes on in middle of trip. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Service center can't "reproduce" any of the issues and are telling us they have no way of checking why the light comes on in software module. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, check engine light comes on and then goes away.Read more
