My specific complaint is that the “door is open while driving” notification is dangerously insufficient. Details as follows: Door was not closed properly while driving. Driver was not sufficiently notified by car (small visual notification behind steering wheel, no audible notification). Door flew open while turning, endangering passengers, alarming driver, and endangering nearby vehicles.
... This is in comparison to the seatbelt notifications, which are incredibly loud and pervasive, and much less dangerous than a door flying open while driving. Problem is easily reproduced.Read more

As I was driving home from work last week 04/22/25, I noticed a drop in the rear passenger side and an odd noise I had never heard before. Vehicle Information Make: Ford Model: Escape Model Year: 2015 Component: Power Train (Transmission) Date of Incident (approximate): 2021 (first signs) — Ongoing I purchased my 2015 Ford Escape new in 2015. Around 2021, I began experiencing intermittent stalling issues. If I ran errands and made multiple short trips, the vehicle would sometimes stall after restarting, especially on the second o
... r third trip. If I allowed the car to rest between trips, the problem would occasionally not occur. I reported the issue to Briarwood Ford multiple times. Each time, they told me they couldn't replicate the problem and, since the check engine light wasn’t on, there was "no issue." Eventually, the check engine light did activate. Briarwood Ford then replaced an airflow valve, kept the car for a few days, but again said they couldn’t replicate the stalling. Shortly after that, following a standard oil change, the transmission failed completely. I contacted several dealerships before having the vehicle towed to Hillsdale Ford. They took approximately four weeks to replace the transmission, which cost me $7,000 out of pocket. Even after the transmission replacement, the car continued to drive poorly. It began accelerating inconsistently, sometimes surging or hesitating, and I noticed a burning smell. I informed the dealer, and they said there was a recall involving a brushless component, which they replaced. However, they said they couldn't detect any burning odor. Now, three years later, the vehicle still doesn’t accelerate smoothly. It’s overly sensitive to throttle input and sometimes seems to hesitate or get stuck when trying to accelerate. I am concerned that this ongoing issue is part of a larger safety problem related to the transmission or powertrain that Ford has not addressed properlyRead more

The MMI (multi-media interface) often restarts unexpectedly while driving, causing the display to go black and disabling essential features like the backup camera, rear sensor alerts, navigation, and hands-free phone connectivity. When this occurs, the system demands user interaction—such as re-entering a PIN (if one is configured) and repeatedly pressing the interface—to restore functionality
... . These interruptions can be particularly distracting, as they occur without warning and pull the driver’s focus away from the road. In most cases, drivers end up addressing the issue while parked, typically right after turning on the vehicle. This issue started in October-November 2024. This problem raises safety concerns, particularly when the system restarts during reverse parking, temporarily disabling both the rearview camera and obstacle detection sensors until the MMI reloads. Furthermore, these unexpected reboots shut down navigation functions and demand several user interactions to bring the system back online—creating a dangerous distraction while driving. With many states enforcing hands-free driving laws that rely on integrated, dash-mounted systems for compliance, the loss of functionality due to these reboots directly undermines a driver’s ability to meet those legal requirements. Numerous reports on online user forums suggest that this issue is widespread and affects the same model year vehicles.Read more

My backup camera in my 2020 vehicle has failed twice. Once was covered under manufacturer's warranty, and it then failed again 14 months later, which is not covered under warranty. As explained by the dealer, a parts warranty is 12 months if covered under manufacturer warranty and 24 months if paid for by the owner. Different warranties for the same part? Additionally, there is a service bull

There is NO rust or damage that would be contributing to this, thus it appears to be a manufacturing defect. There is no way I should have had to replace this part twice with only 40,000 miles on the vehicle. (first time at 24,000 miles, second time at 38,500 miles). ... a major highway, in the middle of rush hour, at 5:35 pm. This happened before and I reported it to the dealership in 2024, and took my car in on three different occasions. In November 2024, less than a year after I purchased the certified pre owned car, it shifted into neutral twice within 20 minutes while I was driving intown, and again later than day as I exited a highway. The third time, I was able to get a video of it on my phone. The dealer said they could not reproduce the problem but fortunately, I sent them the video that shows the oil, battery, ABS, ACC, brake, road departure system, tire pressure, LKAS, brake system and other lights were all on. They said they addressed the issue then. This time around, in April 2025, they told me that they were unable to reproduce the issue but that it was because my battery tested low. Nothing was mentioned about a battery in November when the battery was still under warranty. Now they are saying it is the battery. There were no warnings before the car stalled. This is concerning and very unsafe. I cannot upload videos to this report so I have uploaded a few screenshots from it.Read more

The component that failed is the roof rail clips that hold the roof rack to the vehicle (Toyota Service Bulletin T-SB-0040-24). It presents itself by causing water staining where the headliner meets the A-pillar cover. This issue presented itself in January of 2023, a few m
... onths after we bought the vehicle. Toyota Bountiful (Utah) tried to tell us that it is the sunroof drain lines that are clogged and required a $100 service to clear them which is an annual service. After some push back they found the problem with the roof rack clips. However, they only replaced the passenger side and neglected to repair both sides. April of 2025 the driverside failed and Toyota Bountiful once again confirmed that the driverside clips failed. This creates a danger to the front occupants of the vehicle by allowing a possible mold issue within the cabin. Secondly, it allows water into the front curtain airbags of the vehicle.Read more

I am filing this complaint because Jeep/Chrysler has denied my reimbursement request for a repair directly related to Recall 94B, issued in November 2024, covering the ABS module on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Despite this, Jeep/Chrysler has refused reimbursement solely on the grounds that the repair was not performed at an authorized Jeep dealership. I believe this violates federal law under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. § 30120) and the related regulation (49 CFR § 573.13), which require manufacturers to reimburse owners for pre-notification repairs addressing the defect, regardless of where the repairs were performed, as long as proper documentation is provided. The safety defect appears to be that the ultrasonic sensors, although still present and visually displayed, are no longer integrated into the collision avoidance systems after Tesla’s software updates activating Tesla Vision. As a result, the AEB and OAA systems seem to rely only on camera data, ignoring ultrasonic sensor input — leaving a dangerous blind spot in reverse. This problem affects safety because the driver receives no warning that AEB or OAA will not engage based on ultrasonic detection alone. Tesla’s updated owner manuals (2023.12) state that AEB is now designed to work in reverse, but in this case, the system failed. The issue has not yet been inspected by Tesla or a dealer but appears reproducible on vehicles with ultrasonic sensors running Tesla Vision software. This is likely a widespread defect affecting 2020–2022 Tesla Model 3, Y, S, and X vehicles equipped with ultrasonic sensors but updated via software. There were no warning lights or system alerts before the failure. I request NHTSA investigate whether Tesla’s software has disabled or failed to integrate ultrasonic sensor data into rear collision avoidance, creating an undisclosed safety risk for owners.Read more
